Osprey FlapJill Pack

Osprey FlapJill Pack, KhakiLove my FlapJill pack. It's sturdy and came with three different colored straps. It has a protective sleeve for the laptop which works well with my bulky laptop. However, because it is built to be compact I have a hard time fitting anything in it other than magazines or books and even then it doesn't fit many. It feels better on my shoulders than any other backpack I've ever had and the thick straps distribute the weight well. Overall I love this pack!

This is a great backpack and I get compliments on it all the time. It's not very large but holds A LOT for its size.

When I was shopping around online for this bag, I did see that there's a new version of it with a different design on the outer flap. I actually like the new design more (really not into the flowers on this one, but what ever), but at the time I couldn't find any images of the rest of the bag so decided to go with this version. I'm glad I did because there are parts of this bag that I like more, including the liner fabric, which I think has a really cool pattern (it totally makes up for the lame flowers on the outside).

Anyway, I think this bag is really well designed. The waterproof lining with drawstring closure works great; I've been caught in the rain a few times and nothing inside my bag has ever gotten wet. There are a decent number of pockets and I can pretty much find a place for all of my things. The deep side pocket is the perfect size for my water bottle (Kleen Kanteen Insulated 16 oz.) or coffee mug (Sigg Metro Mug 13 oz.). Since this bag is really compact, the space available in the various pockets kinds of shifts around depending on how full it is, but I can have my 15" laptop in the padded laptop pocket, along with stuff inside the main compartment and other pockets, and still fit my water bottle in the side pocket just fine. Basically, I have yet to have any problems with space in this bag--it holds everything I need and is comfortable to carry even when it's completely full.

My only real complaint--aside from the flowery print on the flap not being my style--is that this bag is a stain-magnet, and very difficult to clean. I got it in the khaki color, which I love, but it has quite a few small spots and scuff marks on it after about 3 months, and those spots don't seem like they'll be coming out any time soon. I've scrubbed at them with soap and water to no avail.

Overall, this is a nice sturdy bag that's well-designed. I guess the flowers must not be too bad, because like I said, I get compliments on it all the time. The bag comes with some interchangeable colored straps, which I think is a little silly, but I guess it's good to have options (although I have yet to change the straps and probably never will unless they get damaged somehow). I look forward to using this bag for many years to come--I think it will hold up great!

Ordered this for my girlfriend for some travel we have coming up and picked the "Cornflower blue" option. When it arrived it was a little smaller than I thought, but it looked like solid Osprey quality. I ended up sending it back though because the color was much too light. Darker shades show the grit and grime of use much less.

I love this for it's size although it is low-profile. It just barely carries all my stuff for school. I manage to stuff it with my laptop, and several notebooks and one binder. It's not as great for large textbooks or large binders, but you can make it work sometimes. I also manage to carry pens, pencils, wallet, iPod, phone, etc. in the extra front pockets, but wish there was more room in that area.

The low-profile means this pack stays close to your back. I feel like this reduces the strain on my shoulders most of the time. It is very nicely built for a woman's frame.

I purchased this bag for a friend, she loves it, I checked it and it really good quality, nice materials and great design.

Not sure if correct but the Jet Black, came as a gray, still a really nice backpack, with choices of colors for the straps.
