Columbia Treadlite 10 Backpack (One Size)

I have owned several packs. I love to hike and so I wanted to invest in a quality one for my frequent day hikes. I was a bit apprehensive about buying a pack online since I wouldn't be able to try it on, but this one really is great. I could tell when I took it out of the box that it was going to be nice. I am a fan of columbia gear and this does not disappoint. One of my favorite features is what they call "backdraft." It's a couple of raised foam panels on the back panel of the pack. This holds it away from your body, allowing you to stay cooler. Let me tell you, that makes a big difference in the summer. It is very light too. I know that may seem obvious, but I was struck by just how light it is. When I buckle it on I might as well not be wearing a pack. Its comfortable, good looking, and lightweight. Kudos Columbia!

*EditI feel I should mention that, having now gotten a 3 liter Camelbak unBottle hydration pack, it can indeed fit in this bag, but its quite tight. I can cram my hammock and straps in it along with some food but you can't fit much else in it with the hydration bag in there. It's a small bag though so this doesnt really detract. It still feels very light even with the 3L of water.

I picked one of these up locally after trying out a few brands. It fits very comfortably over my riding jacket and very nice to have a 10L pack with load lifters which isn't so common. This allows me to put in a little extra weight and be able to lift the load off of my shoulders which is way nicer on a motorcycle. I have been in a few showers and everything stayed dry inside the pack. The 10L and the 16L also sit high enough on your back that it doesn't affect riding comfort and sitting position.

Just secure the extra straps and its a great pack!

I wanted to get a pack to lug around giant stacks of books or to carry my gym clothes, shoes, gloves etc in. These are very nice day packs, but won't do the job of the giant amount of stuff I wanted to carry around.

The packs seemed to be made nice, they had very nice straps, but didn't have enough room inside them.

That was my mistake for not figuring that out. Otherwise, if you want to carry your lunch and a small change of clothes and other things out for a hike, it's nice!

i put a lot of stuff like fruit, snack, water bottles... when I lift it up to carry, I was thinking today's hiking might be little tough because of the heavy bag, but OMG I couldn't even realize that I was carrying that much stuff while I was hiking. Highly recommended.
