This backpack is fantastic! It is VERY large, perfect for busy students, backpackers, or just about anyone. The leather is soft and supple. My backpack came in a brighter color than pictured, and more reddish, which I actually like a LOT better, it's beautiful. It has padded shoulder straps (not obviously, so it maintains its vintage-look), the backpack straps are adjustable (three length options). It has 8 pockets, besides the main compartment, and in the large pocket in the front of the backpack (under the lid), there are four leather pen-holders.You can fit so much inside, and the bag will look good at the same time! It's great for both men and women. If you don't have too much to carry around, it may not be the best purchase, because things can get lost, and you may have to fumble around a lot to reach your things. But a good backpack is hard to find, and this one will hold a LOT and should last a long time! :) Remember to purchase a high quality leather-protectant.
