Size:
I tried on MANY different packs and this was by far the most comfortable in the 46L range. I wanted to be able to carry it on the plane to avoid checking it. I was able to get my boots (didn't want to wear these on the plane) plus 8 days worth of clothing, down/poly fill mummy bag (in a 16L compression bag), toiletries, 3L bladder (I have a cheap Coleman bladder that worked just as well as my friends expensive one), rain gear, and other misc. trekking gear and I still had extra space (self-inflating sleep pad got strapped to the outside). I was able to carry it on all my flights except 1 LAN flight from Lima to Cusco (the flight was full)! It actually fit in the overhead bin without turning it sidewaysthe flight attendants were thrilled that it took up such little space.
Features:
I love the stretchy pockets on the outside. The multiple zipper pockets on the outside and inside were so great for quick access. I like that the sleeping bag pouch at the bottom has an inside divider that can be opened or closed and that it has zipper access from the outside too so you don't have to unpack to pull out your sleeping bag. The included rain fly worked great during our 2 hours of hiking in the pouring rain. The color is beautiful!!!
Quality:
The zippers were put to the test and pulled really tightno problem! The fabric also seems really strong and feels thicker than some of the other backpacks I tried on. The cushioning on the straps and waistband was soft without being too bulky.
I'm very happy with this pack. It was perfect for what I needed it to be and it will serve me well for many hiking trips to come.
