SwissGear The PEGASUS 17inch Computer Backpack

This is a superb computer backpack. Very well built, good attention to detail, beefy zippers, good padding for protection of your laptop, and my 17" laptop fits in it comfortably and safely.

The main top handle is a steel cable, encased in a rubber grip for comfort. The shoulder straps are strong, and well padded. There is a short strap with a sturdy plastic buckle that connects the two shoulder straps and goes across your chest, to keep the bag from creeping down as you walk. That cross-strap is partially backed up with two layers of rubber strap so it does allow for some flexible movement which makes it even more comfortable.

There is also a long and narrow separate zippered bag for your cords, power supply, mouse, etc. so they can all live in one place and you don't misplace any of the parts you need for the computer. That's a nice touch.

The computer compartment is separated from the bottom of the bag so when you lay it down on the floor, you get that extra protection. The whole interior is well insulated. And the bag is structured in such a way, that when you lay it down, it's center of gravity almost forces it to stand up straight. Be careful with it nonetheless.

If I had to point out a drawback, it's that the looks of the bag almost advertise that you have a valuable computer inside. As long as you don't let it out of your sight or your grip when you travel, you should be safe.

While the bag is very durable, and has lots of useful compartments, I'm looking at replacing it. The chest strap is the major disadvantage for me. It is placed to be very uncomfortable for women. A waist strap would have been much preferable. With all the places the chest strap could be fastened, I'm surprised they didn't make the placement adjustable. It's not possible, as the plastic fasteners holding the chest straps to the shoulder straps are solid pieces.

My husband travel for his job and uses this bag all the time, lots of room for his supplies and even clothes for an overnight trip would differently recommend this product.

Just one month into this and so far, it's great. Carries many high school text books and notebooks, room to stuff a lunch bag on top and carry a water bottle on the side. protects an ipad inside as well. Pros" seems to be well constructed, time will tell, but my son carries such a heavy load of text books, the bags always seem to give way around the handles and straps, but this seems to be reinforced in all the right places. We didn't want lots of little pockets to consume room, and this bag seemed to have just enough to be functional. the handle is perfect comfortable, reinforced, strong. the straps are padded yet have a great air-flow fabric. best bag i found after searching online and in staples/athletic/department stores for something to carry heavy loads, not just camping gear.

This backpack is all that is promoted to be, I have a 17" xps with a large battery and it fits perfectly. Even if the laptop uses much of the bag's space, I am still able to comfortably put in my agenda and work related things. The straps are extremely comfortable. All in all a great purchase
