I bought this item because I wanted to have something smaller than a full size backpack that would hold a drink and a little trail mix for my day hikes. I'm not a small guy, 48" waist; knowing a fanny pack would not fit me, I jumped when I read the description of this item: "7.5" Bottle Pack with Shoulder Strap". It turns out this IS JUST a fanny pack and when the belt is fully extended did not fit over my shoulder, yet alone around my 48" girth.Did I return the dam thing? Hell no. My son had a belt that was identical to the material of the fanny pack belt. I spent the afternoon sewing in a 15" span so I can use it (and adjust it) as fanny pack on my hikes. The max size waist is around 40" 41" if you wish to use this as a fanny pack.
