Swiss Gear MYTHOS Computer Backpack Blue

I think this is probably the first or second review I've ever written for any product. I felt compelled to do this because this backpack as saved my valuables countless times. I've had it for about 2 years and it is still in excellent shape. I just got back from a marching band rehearsal and I left my backpack (with laptop in it) on the field where it got drenched with rain, I mean heavy rain. Got back and although things at the bottom of the pockets got a little wet, my laptop was absolutely dry. This thing is a tank.

This backpack has sturdy material that will endure. Unlike other backpacks that we've had, there are no threads or fabric for the zippers to get caught on! The compartments work well for us, separating books from a lunch box and a smaller part for pens, etc. It's our second backpack by Swiss Army and the brand, not surprisingly, impresses.

Although I have only had this backpack for about a month, I feel confident in writing a preliminary review (something I rarely do). Over the years I have used many different backpacks and each one has had some major flaw that led to their demise. This backpack though is able to surmount almost all of these flaws in such grace that one may never even recognize how much of an accomplishment this design truly has become.

Pros:

The separate laptop compartment is extremely useful and leaves plenty of room without feeling loose.

The Velcro strap that comes over the top of the laptop carrier portion is very useful for securing my charger set (more on that later).

In the main compartment, there is a flap that goes down which allows the backpack to stand up. Not only is this useful for helping to keep the backpack upright, but this is extremely beneficial so that sharp objects (like the corner of a binder) does not begin cutting through the bottom of the backpack. This was a major problem in the last two backpacks I have purchased from other companies.

There are additional smaller compartments that allow for easy organization of items that would not work as well in the large, main compartment.

Cons:

My charger set does not fit well in the compartment that I assume it was meant for. Probably because of the size of textbooks I carry (which I consider the traditional 8x11 or slightly bigger size). However, I remedy this by using the space I have at the top of my laptop space and Velcro the charger secure there.

Space, especially in the main compartment, is not a lot. I can get 2-3 textbooks in there but hardly anything else. Also the size is not adjustable like I had with previous backpacks. But if you aren't a Sherpa or overloaded hours student, you are probably going to be okay.

If the quality suddenly deteriorates or there are any issues that are not already specified, I will add them later. This is a great product and I highly recommend it!
