I did tons of searches for a wheeled book bag that would be easy to whip around the airport as well as serve as a stylish pack once I arrived to my destination. This AT605 Carry-on is great. Light weight, stylish, and plenty of accessible pockets. Just took it on a trip to Texas and it handled well. The wheels are smooth and quite on multiple surfaces including concrete sidewalks. The main compartment is narrow enough to roll down the aisle of a plane, which was great when it came to exiting the plane quickly. Then day pack easily held my 15" MacBook Pro and some other items. There's a quick clip on the carry-on that allows the day pack to quickly snap on if you do not want to take the time to zip the day pack back on. One feature that was a pleasant surprise was the handle strap on the day pack that allows you to slide the day pack on to the extended handle bar of the carry-on piece so that the day pack is vertically stacked with the carry-on. There are so many options that create the convince of carrying this luggage piece.
Cons
When utilizing the day pack feature, I'm all about security. Therefore, I noticed that the front pockets didn't have 2 zippers like the main compartment; which concerned me a tad. It would be much better if they're were 2 zippers on all compartments so that when the zippers closed, they'd be in an upright position vs. a downward position (increasing the possibility of something falling out). Secondly, the straps were not the most comfortable, but I was cool with it. If the straps were cut to curve with the shoulder and chest more, (such as athlete backpacks) it would be almost be a flawless fit. The mesh beverage holder didn't hold up too well. Although, I may have over stretched it with my canteen, so only use a standard bottle when using the beverage holder.
Overall, it's a great buy if you're like me. I like to have durability, accessories, versatility, and look good all at the same time. Thus far, this is a great product.I did a lot of research before purchasing new luggage for an upcoming trip and finally settled on this bag. I loved the idea of the detachable backpack and that the suitcase itself actually met carry-on regulations. When the bag arrived, I was impressed with the material it was made with, as well as the design and was really looking forward to using it. The suitcase itself is on the smaller side, which is expected given the dimensions, and like many of the wheeled suitcases, the bars of the handles do take up room inside the suitcase leaving the bottom uneven instead of flat. However, the suitcase itself is very light. I was able to fit what I had hoped in the bag itself, but the backpack was a little trickier. It seems to be built nicely with padded sides that leave it structured even when empty, but the design makes it difficult to fit things in as well as I would have liked. I did have a bit of a tall order though, and managed to squeeze in my 15" HP laptop, my dSLR and extra lens in the medium Crumpler Haven, my laptop charger, and a paperback and a couple of DVDs into the main compartment. That left it totally packed, and meant I could not keep my laptop in the padded case I had bought for it. It also meant there was very little space left in the other smaller compartment, but I did manage to fit my bag of liquids and a few other small items. The outside (tiny) pocket held me phone, credit cards, ipod and headphones, and keys. With the bags packed this way, there was no chance I was zipping the backpack back on to the suitcase, but I didn't mind that all that much as I fully expected to use the strap on the backpack that let's you slip it over the handlebars and rest it on top of the suitcase when not on the plane and that worked fairly well, although it ends up being pretty heavy when dragging it that way.
Although I was finding the set a bit tight on space, the major disappointment came while on my flight out to my destination. At one point I reached down to get something out of the backpack only to find that the handle on the top of the backpack was partially ripped off. This was the first time I had used it I had literally carried the gear to my car, loaded it in, unloaded it at the airport and boarded the plane. In that time, I must have used the handle only a few times and yet it was already ripping. By the time I was part way through my trip, it had ripped off completely and the strap it was attached to on the side where it ripped is now coming loose.
Sadly I will be returning this due to the poor stitching quality. Maybe mine was just a fluke, but obviously handles and straps coming off the first time you use the bag is an indication of a product that isn't built to last or stand the wear and tear of travel. It's unfortunate because otherwise I think the design is nice for someone traveling only a few days at a time or who can pack pretty lightly.

PROS Versatile, functional, rolls well, backpack straps comfortable, lots of spaceCONS Poor stitching quality on daypack straps, no double-zipper on front of daypack, wheels extend bag size past regulation carry-on allowance
I was really excited about this product, but was disappointed after my first real use. In concept it would solve my troubles flying alone with two check-in bags and a carry-on I could also roll when I got through security. I thought everything was great until I got to the gate and separated the day pack with only my laptop and a few small items to weigh it down, the daypack HANDLE BROKE! The stitching came out of one end, and continued to get worse the rest of the trip.
I returned the product and am trying another High Sierra iteration and see if it hold up better.

Seriously. If you are looking for a small carry on but want a little extra room than your normal carry on. GET THIS. The top part, zips off and turns into a backpack. Why is this is so rad? Because you can fly with a carry on, and be able to carry even MORE than your friends and their carry ons. AND, when you're not on a the plane, and say, stuck on a 12 hour lay over somewhere, you don't have to lug some dumb backpack around. All you have to do is zip it back up to your carry on. I carried this bag all over Panama, and literally walked across the border to Costa Rica with this thing. The wheels are like real wheels, made out of rubber and not some crappy plastic. You can even take the ENTIRE thing and strap it onto you back like a backpage. I did that in a quick bind when I had to catch a boat. Unzipped the back, pulled out the backpack straps and wallah! Best bag ever. Tons of pockets and strap downs. You can't go wrong.Want High Sierra AT605 Carryon On Wheeled Backpack with Removable Day Pack Discount?
