Ibex 17 Inch Notebook Backpack

Ibex 17 Inch Notebook BackpackFirst things first: has my removable pouch been stolen? coz i can't find it. ;) Maybe it's just another amazon error in the product description.

If anyone can find the removable pouch, let me know.

Down to the proper review:

There's no point repeating all the great features mentioned by others. You've read the other reviews: you know all about the fact that it's pretty much the only bag guaranteed to fit the large 17" laptops. In fact Dell sell it on their website as a bag that fits their 17inchers.

Here's a feature no one else has mentioned so far: unlike the Columbia Cyberpack, it has a plastic [fake leather] waterproof base so u can confidently place it on a wet/messy floor.

Someone mentioned the zippers not having zipper flaps to stop rain getting in. But we all know that those flaps over the zips can be awkward. I'm looking at my bag right now and i can see that there are flaps BENEATH the zipper on each side. So for rain to get in, it would have to get thru the zipper then thru the flap/ribbing directly [like 3mm] underneath. It's hard to describe what it is but it is water proof material beneath each side of the zip that closes together like drawn curtains when the zip is zippered shut.

NOT MENTIONED B4:

One nice visual aid is that the zippers for the main compartment are noticeably bigger than the others.

Also there is an apparently flimsy handle at the back behind the main handle. It's to hang the empty/lightly filled bag up on a hook. It took me about a minute to work out what it was for. :O

btw: the main handle is totally over-engineered but gorgeous: it is a very soft plastic and fabric handle surrounding a a steel wire handle which is itself coated in plastic. It's one mean looking handle.

One thing, I've noticed is that one of the shoulder straps is loose around the length adjuster and i have to keep tightening it up or the one for the right shoulder keeps getting longer and longer. I'm thinking of stitching it into the desired position but because i go to the gym and have aspirations of getting an upper body like John Cena's, i fear that if i stitch the shoulder straps into the present desired position that when [not if ;)] i get huge it would no longer fit across my back and I'd have to unstitch the straps and readjust to fit around my hopefully huge back. As you can imagine: i hope i do encounter this problem. It would be a small price to pay for looking like John Cena. ;)

btw: In comparison with the Columbia Cyberpack [a laptop backpack for up to 15-Inchers], that i also own, it doesn't have the Cyberpack's reflective elements useful for when walking at night.

Perhaps the quick pocket [the red-lined pouch near the handle] should have been made of luminous material on it's inside [instead of the red lining] to help find things in the dark when outside. I suggest keeping a small torch inside the small pocket inside the quick pocket.

The organiser/organizer panel in the front compartment elicits mixed feelings:

Pros:

I has two slots for credit cards. Good

A good mesh pocket to hold a battery powered shaver.

A good pen holding pocket.

Cons:

It has three pockets. good. but they are on top of each other so if you use all three it cause a bit of a bulge in the front pocket.

Also, there is a clip for key rings but the thing it so short it's hard to find and a lot more awkward than what it should be.

I suggest buying the "Victorinox 1679500 Army Knife Swiss Champ" to fit in the organiser panel. It has a pocket to fit it.

SUMMARY OF POCKETS/COMPARTMENTS:

TEN EXTERNAL COMPARTMENTS/POCKETS:

U CAN SEE THEM FOR YOURSELVES. :) But you'd have to go on other websites. So here is a summary:

1: front compartment [contains organiser panel]

2: book compartment [directly behind front compartment]

3: main bag compartment [behind book compartment]

4: a top 'quick pocket' deep enough to fit an open hand in up to your wrist

5: laptop compartment

6: left mesh pocket [un-zippered]

7: right mesh pocket [un-zippered]

8: left diagonal side pocket

9: right diagonal side pocket

10: pocket on the left shoulder strap that is good for holding a small mobile phone, mp3 player etc. I find it very useful to put a bus ticket in.

ORGANISER PANEL [INSIDE FRONT COMPARTMENT][a group of small pockets for stationary etc]:

* LEFT POCKET: holds pens and has two slots for credit card sized cards

* CENTRE TRIPLE DECKER POCKET: three pockets on top of each other

* RIGHT MESH POCKET: large enough to hold a small shaver

* red zippered pocket behind the organiser panel

* hidden key ring clip [A SORT OF BAG EQUIVALENT OF A DVD EASTER EGG ;)]

FIVE INTERNAL POCKETS [THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ORGANISER PANEL] [HIDDEN EXTRAS]:

1: zippered mesh pocket inside book compartment

2: document/magazine pocket inside the main compartment

3: small pocket inside the top 'quick pocket' near the handle. [with an exit for mp3 player head/earphones]

4: document pocket inside the laptop compartment [I SUGGEST NOT PUTTING TOO MUCH IN THERE COZ IT MIGHT PRESS AGAINST THE LAPTOP SCREEN-LID.]

5: small zippered mesh pocket inside top of laptop compartment.

There are two problems I have had with notebook backpacks in the past. Number one was, that they say to be 17 inch compatible, but they actually do not fit larger than average 17 inch notebooks. Rest assured that this backpack will even fit the largest 17 inch laptops. I can fit the Dell XPS into it with no problems. The zipper line does not lie tensely over the corners of the notebook and does not create scratches.

Number two is the quality of the zippers. The zippers have to run smoothly, easily, and not come apart, split open, get stuck, or display other annoying dysfunctions. The zippers on this pack are of very good quality.

There is tons of auxiliary storage space. If I had a say in it, the shoulder straps could have a little more padding, but since it fits my large notebook, I will not deduct any stars this time.

This back pack is very good. Well made, sturdy for carrying all the weight. The two items missing that keep this from being a 5 star review are: no waist strap, With all this wieght in the pack this would help alot. 2nd is no rain flaps on the zippers. I am in Seattle and I am concerned over rain getting into the bag on the long daily commute.

17.5 inch laptop (10lbs) 4lb power brick. plus lunch, note book, paper work, coffee thermos, Oracle manual, Reading book. Yep, alot fits in this while staying compact.

This Ibex backpack is the very best backpack on the market for a 17" laptop, but it's slightly disappointing when you compare it side-by-side with the 15" Synergy backpack from this VERY SAME COMPANY! I don't understand why Wengar Swiss Gear doesn't simply make a 17" version of the Synergy backpack?

Right off the bat, I was disappointed to find out that this 17" backpack has FEWER POCKETS AND STORAGE COMPARTMENTS than the 15" backpack. How is that possible for a bag that's supposed to carry a LARGER laptop? My biggest disappointment, however, was that there is NO SMALL ZIPPER POCKET on the very front of the frontmost pocket. This pocket was so handy for quickly throwing in airplane tickets or itineraries or anything else that you need to grab quickly. Next, the zipper pockets on the 2 sides are absolutely tiny and can barely hold a pack of gum. Compare this with the 15" backpack, which has HUGE zipper pockets on the sides which stretch all the way down the side of the backpack... I used to store my digital camera and other big items in those side pockets.

However, after using this backpack for 2 years, I have grown to love it and I have yet to find any other backpacks that are BETTER than this one. So this is absolutely the best backpack on the market, but there's always room for improvement! :)

Want Ibex 17 Inch Notebook Backpack Discount?

I'm ambivalent about this review.

The pros are that this backpack has a lot of room and carries everything well.

The cons are signficant.

1) if you are a semi-muscular person, the shoulder straps could hurt. The one thing that other owners of this knapsack have commented on is that this problem could be solved if Wenger had just put cross strap that crosses in front of one's chest and connects the two shoulder straps.

2) one of the shoulder straps has a place for a cell phone. There are a couple of problems with it. First, it is way too narrow to fit a smartphone (e.g. an iPhone or a BlackBerry). It can only fit an old-fashioned cell phone (i.e. a non-smartphone). Second, the bottom of this cell phone holder is a major weak spot for the knapsack. It broke apart after a month. The worst thing is that I've seen this exact same problem on several different Wenger backpacks.

3) the other shoulder strap has completely fallen apart.

Wenger needs to redesign the shoulder straps for their backpacks. They have a great product otherwise, but since many people are carrying laptops in their backpacks, shoulder straps that break apart endanger laptops. In contrast, I've had an L.L. Bean backpack for 10 years and have put them same amount of stuff in it. The shoulder straps are still intact, however, the Wenger backpack has better aesthetics.

NOTE: I have to write an update. If you want absolutely great customer service, then Wenger is the company. I went to their website and found the email address for the Warranty Department. I sent an email and they responded within 30 minutes. They asked for some readily available information and a few pics of the problem. I sent it to them and they responded within 30 minutes that I needed to pay $10 for shipping and handling by PayPal. I did this and they again sent me a reply email within 30 minutes that a replacement backpack was going to be sent to me. I received it the very next day. I did not have to waste any time or energy sending back the defective backpack, and now I have a perfect knapsack again. Wow! Truly A+ customer service.

I'm still unsure about the quality of this item, but no other company I've ever dealt with has the customer service of Wenger. This company totally deserves its excellent reputation.

If this backpack holds up, then I will revise and give it far more stars.

Oakley Men's Status Pack 2.0

Oakley Men's Oakley Status Pack, Red Line, One SizeI'm writing this after just a couple days of use. I'll update my review in a couple months so that it is consistent with what I've actually been experiencing.

I'm coming from an absolutely enormous Jansport Backpack that I purchased ages ago. I need something that will carry tons of stuff all the time. This fits the bill for the most part. It's a 30 liter pack and it makes good use of the room that it has. The laptop slot is just big enough for my massive 17.3" laptop, by that I mean I really wouldn't put anything bigger in there. So if you have one of those 18" gaming laptops, I would recommend looking elsewhere. This probably won't work. A complaint I do have is there isn't a great place to put my power brick but I suppose that's a minor one.

The main compartment is nice and roomy. The pen and misc pockets are also in this area which is not something I've seen before (normally it has a dedicated pocket) but it seems to function just fine.

The water bottle holders are one of the huge pluses of this pack and are one of the reasons I picked it. They will hold a 1 L nalgene problem just perfectly which is exactly what I needed. I tested a SwissGear SA1923 backpack prior to this one and was a bit annoyed that I couldn't fit my 1 L bottles if anything was in the side pockets.

I also really like the armored sunglasses shell. It has a soft coating for the sunglasses and is roomy enough to carry around 2 pair (as long as you don't wear bug eye sized glasses.

The pack itself is very light. That may be a blessing and a curse. The blessing of course being that you're carrying around less weight. The curse may or may not exist in itself. I'm hoping that it doesn't mean less durability than a heavier duty bag. We'll see when the time comes.

I'll try to post a nice pic of it fully loaded to give you an idea of how much stuff will fit.

Really high quality back pack, my daughter loves it and the quality of the image of Merida is very good. She's abusing it daily and its holding up well 3 months later!

I purchased this for my 4 year old daughter. She LOVES it...so much, in fact, that she refuses to use it, because she says she's saving it for kindergarten. She did loosen the reins enough to allow me to use it to transport some items, and not only is it pretty and sparkly, but it's very sturdy and has a wealth of room on the inside. I like it just as much as she does, and I have no problem walking around in public with a child's backpack, not when it's as practical as this one. :-)

Midnight White Sparse Floral 15.4-Inch Laptop Notebook Padded Compartment Shoulder Messenger Bag

Midnight White Sparse Floral 15.4-Inch Laptop Notebook Padded Compartment Shoulder Messenger BagI purchased this bag for my daughter who wanted a messenger bag as opposed to a backpack for her 6th grade year. I might be a bit small if she has to take home more than a couple of books this is not the bags fault, it is sold as a laptop bag. It is well padded, and the design on the front is not cheap or pressed on. It is a quality product. I believe for a laptop bag it would be great.

Osprey FlapJack Men's Courier Shoulder Bag

Osprey FlapJack Men's Courier Shoulder BagI like this bag a LOT. Heck, I like this company a lot. I think they could take the Pepsi challenge with Eagle Creek and Timbuk 2 for quality, design and service. I also looked at the Timbuk 2 Command, and Thule Crossover.

I've had this bag for a few months now, and I use it every day for work, however, I've not used it while riding a bike yet.

It is well designed, with great build quality (durable materials, stitching and fasteners), and it looks sweet. I would call it "sporty professional."

There is not a lot of detailed info for this bag on Amazon or Osprey, so I'll elaborate for anyone who cares...

Design comments:

One main flap covering entire interior of bag.

Main pocket is open and roomy with a padded slot (sized for laptop, manilla folders, w/ velcroed tab closure), a zippered lightly padded pocket (sized for tablet, 8.5x11s), and flexible, unstructured remaining space (sized for shell/jacket + soft lunch bag, 14" legal docs). I have been able to easily fit a 18" tall roll of drawings fully into this pocket (at a diagonal). There is a small handle inside the main pocket.

Zippered Pockets: one on main flap/cover (size of compact disc), one on side of bag (insulated coffee mug), two accessory pockets in front of bag (under flap), one (tablet & 8.5x11 papers) inside main pocket.

Mesh elastic pockets: one inside aforementioned "coffee mug" pocket (sized for coins plus smart phone), one inside main compartment (2 travel umbrellas).

Miscellaneous: 1st accessory front pocket: 6x8, w/ key clip; 2nd larger accessory pocket: 8x10, 2 open slots (one large smartphone, one iPod classic), 2 pen slots.

Back of bag has fully adjustable & removable 1/2" webbing w/ fastex buckles. With this you can secure bag around waist while riding bike, or secure bag to rolling luggage handle.

Bag has tendency to stay upright and not fall over, if contents are evenly distributed. Bottom of bag is relatively flat.

Flap can be secured to main bag body in two ways: two typical "fastex" click buckles on outside of flap and velcro. (Amazon blowhard comment: I covered the velcro flap with a 2" x 4" piece of loose velcro to prevent the flap from continuously grabbing).

Bag handle: very comfortable.

Shoulder strap: pad is very comfortable, has grippy/tacky surface and slides along main strap. Strap has ingenious single-action clasp for quick and effortless adjustment.

Aesthetic comments: Bag has black (well, not the blackest black, closer to a dark, slate grey) body with reflective accents, and medium grey straps. It has a lime green liner, which provides contrast to the pockets. (Amazon blowhard comment: I didn't expect the green interior, and wouldn't be my first choice, but I got used to it). Exchangeable accent color straps for main flap cover buckles.

Cons: A bit weak on the amount of information/pictures available on this product, including Osprey's own site was lacking. Frankly, I felt a bit uneasy buying it without more photographic/descriptive info, but I felt comfortable with Osprey's track record.

I have no real concerns about this bag, and highly recommend it.

Bought this bag as a replacement for my Osprey Astro. I really liked the Astro, but its getting a bit grubby and I wanted something which wouldn't look too out of place in a business environment.

Overall, I really want to like it the bag itself is a pretty nice design, internal and external pockets are mostly well laid out, and the handle is very sturdy and comfortable (much better than the handle on the Astro).

My main gripe however is with the length of the shoulder strap why is it so short? I'm not especially tall, about 5'9", but with the strap fully extended the top of the bag still sits quite a bit above my hip, somewhat higher than I would prefer for this kind of messenger style bag. Someone with a larger build may find the bag sits even higher.

Would it have been so hard to allow a bit more leeway in the shoulder strap length? A couple more inches would have been better. The strap length on the Astro was pretty much perfect.

Also, one feature I really liked on the Astro which is missing on the Flapjack is the top zipper which allows access the the main compartment without having to open the main flap this really is incredibly handy and the one feature which would have made this bag just about perfect.

The only other comment I have is about the side pocket it has one zipped side pocket on the left hand side. I would have liked to have another pocket like this on the right hand side as well.

Other than these points, its a very nice bag and I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Buy Osprey FlapJack Men's Courier Shoulder Bag Now

You won't find quality like an Osprey product anywhere else on the market. Sometimes the price tags for their bags can be a little intimidating but understand that you are hands down buying some of the material craftsmanship available. This stuff lasts and can take a serious beating, it's almost as if it has permanent Scotchguard protecting all of the fabric. This is the second Osprey bag I've purchased, my first being the Veer. I've always been amazed at the quality of their products and this is no exception.

This bag in particular is extremely spacious, you'll be amazed by what you can cram in this thing and still be left with space. I load it up in the morning with my laptop, charging cables, various odds and ends of gadgets, a 2 liter jug of water, a 32oz coffee mug, a 32oz tea mug, and it's still ridiculous easy to close with plenty of extra room available in the exterior pockets and inner compartments.

I wasn't sure if i'd like the open flap approach of the bag but now it's probably my favorite feature. Getting access to things is snappy and often times you can just pull the side of the flap in and access something from the side without need to even open up the top. The velcro is often times more than enough to secure a heavy load, employing a thick strip which gives a strong grip. This bag is secure and if you take the time to buckle the front flap you won't have to worry about things falling out, even if it tips over.

If you've been going back and forth between bag purchases, or messenger bags in particular, take it from someone who went through many and did his homework: this is the one to get.

Nice looking and high-quality materials. However, not optimal for carrying work papers because it is not structured and contents can get squished. There is a small exterior zipper compartment, but accessing the interior creates a very loud "velcro" noise. If you are in a quiet library or office--people will definitely know when you open your bag. Nonetheless, I give it four stars because it's a good travel bag that holds a lot.

Want Osprey FlapJack Men's Courier Shoulder Bag Discount?

I used this bag for my trip to Seattle. It's a bit wider than I would like for school but it's perfect for traveling. My laptop, a couple books and my headphones fit in the large compartment, but also a doughnut pillow (that's what I call them) and a large scarf I use as a blanket on flights.

I like that it was a mesh pocket in the large compartment for a water bottle so that it's not exposed on the outside. and it was a mesh zippered compartment for documents.

It's super comfortable to wear on your shoulders. I was debating on getting a timbuk2 bag but I tried one on in seattle and i found that those bags are too stiff (maybe just when they're brand new), the shoulder pad is stiffer and not as comfortable (again), and the design of the pockets are kinda silly (at least to my taste)

overall I'm pretty happy with this bag. I got the chili red and i love the color

Herschel Supply Co Pop Quiz Backpack

Herschel Pop Quiz Black FA 12This backpack is great. Its everything you'd expect from a backpack: strong straps, easy adjustments, and many pockets to store things. However I do agree with the other reviewer that the zipper does get stuck sometimes and thats something you probably dont want to deal with especially if youre rushing out of class.

I bought this backpack due to its stylish design and less about its utilitarian features. I use it only for school so that is my perspective of this product. One thing that really bugs me about this backpack is the sunglasses pouch located at the top. Its basically just a pocket that has no sidewalls supporting it. If you happen to have books in your bag, theres a pretty good chance youll smash your glasses if they ever slide forward (like if you set your backpack on a desk too fast). And if youre not using the pouch, then it just gets in the way of you getting to the things you need.

Another thing that irks me a little is the two front pockets. Theres only enough room for pens/pencils and a calculator. I keep a graphing calculator in the back front pocket and anything I put in the front pocket gets squished by it.

Other than the things mentioned above, this backpack is definitely something I'd recommend to someone else to buy. The durability is there and I can see myself using this backpack for a couple years without worrying that itll fall apart on me. I knew that I'd be carrying a lot of books in my bag and it does the job fine in that regard. The pin stripe inner lining is pretty sweet as well.

This backpack is beautiful in the outside and much more in the inside. The inner area is all cushioned so you can protect your laptop or tablet. There are lots of pockets and inside them there are specific places for pens and keys, there are also some see -through mesh pockets that helps you to find things quickly. I just believe they could lower the price without losing quality.

Buy Herschel Supply Co Pop Quiz Backpack Now

I really like the color and the concise design. The inner design is very practical that it can contain much more than I expected. But the design of the zipper is not very good. As zippers are hiden under a piece of farbric, it is hard to open them. A packbag at this price should not have such problem....

Tamrac 3380 Aero 80 Photo/Laptop Backpack (Rust)

Tamrac 3380 Aero 80 Photo/Laptop BackpackI bought this backpack for a recent photographic assignment to India where I had to carry my laptop with me at all times. Overall, I am very impressed with it and several people I was traveling with were also impressed enough that they were planning to buy the same backpack when they got back to the States.

The main reason I chose this product was that it would be able to accommodate my DSLR with standard zoom lens, two spare lenses (including one 300mm telephoto) a small video camera (with five tapes), spare batteries and filters, power cables etc., and my laptop as well as providing some space for other items such as sweaters, papers etc.

It certainly has the capacity I needed and the lower section of the backpack that accommodates all the camera gear is easy to access, easy to organise and generally very well designed. The only complaint I have is that the upper section of the rucksack is quite difficult to access not so bad that it's unusable, but I did end up simply stuffing things in there because the design of the opening is such that the flap doesn't really fold down. I managed to fit in a down vest, a flashlight, a couple of energy bars, some papers and my sunglasses but I had to pretty much empty the whole compartment to find anything I wanted. The laptop sleeve, on the other hand, provides plenty of space and you can store papers, magazines etc in there along with the laptop (as long as you can stand the extra weight!) The two side pockets are perfect for water/soda bottles, too, which is good because you wouldn't be able to get at them in the main compartment!

I didn't use it in the rain, so I have no idea whether its weatherproofing works. It certainly looks like it should, but the rubber strips on the laptop sleeve zip do make opening and closing that compartment a little fiddly. None of these issues would prevent me recommending this backpack though, as it really does do everything I wanted it to do. I didn't hike with it for any distance but it certainly performed well being thrown in and out of trucks and buses and seemed to provide excellent protection for my gear in some pretty uncomfortable environments.

One other note if you're a bit of a contortionist, you can access your camera without removing the backpack. It's probably not advisable unless you're sure the rest of your gear won't come tumbling out when you open the flap but it does add a little extra functionality that you might need.

I like this overall. I'm a pro photographer and needed something that fits easily in overhead bins in planes. there's enough room for 2 bodies, laptop, 2 hyperdrives, 5 lenses (med size), all my chargers, lots of batteries, a flash head, and some misc stuff. you have to get creative but you can get quite a bit in there. it's probably not meant for what I use it for (primary bag) but it works well

Buy Tamrac 3380 Aero 80 Photo/Laptop Backpack (Rust) Now

I bought this simply for the fact that I can carry my laptop along with my camera equipment. First off, it must be said that you can carry one camera body with a mounted lens and battery grip, two more lenses and a flash unit. You might be able to squeeze one more body, depending on the size though. Other photographers may find this limiting. But the other accessories like your cd's, power supplies, batteries and other lenses and such will fit in the other main compartment. I do wish however that one of the inside pockets did not have a stitched divider. I would have prefered a larger section to place larger items, but those items fit in the other areas. The laptop section is nice and you can squeeze the electrical power cord in the same area. The main reason I bought this is that when I travel, I no longer have to carry a seperate laptop case and camera equipment case on a plane. When I had these two items, I had to sacrifice a personal item in which I would carry snacks and other items. By combining a laptop case and camera case into one, I know can have a persnal carry on item on the plane again. The only drawback some photographers may face is that there is no tripod slot. But other than that, I'm happy with this back pack and would definitely recommend it to my fellow photographers.

On a recent trip to New York I figured I would order a new camera bag and get rid of my old Samsonite shoulder bag, which has been through all the rigors associated with Photojournalism in the Caribbean. I have switched my occupation to a far less intense photography experience and just wanted something small (ish), lightweight and capable for carrying around my camera (s), lenses, flash guns and macbook, with charger and accessories.

Ok first the bad.

The bag is a heck of a lot smaller than I expected and cannot hold my EOS 30D with 70-200 F4/L lens attached. This is not a huge deal since I normally mount an old 28-70 F/2.8L, but still, sometimes it would be nice to just whip out my camera with the longer lens attached.

Now the good.

The bag is good looking. It is sturdy as ever, and I manage to fit two flash guns, three lenses (albeit the 70-200 does not go in the camera section with the rest of the kit and gets bunged in the main bag with the flash guns) Two camera bodies (30D and 20D), a Macbook 13" laptop, charger, mouse, headphones, cables, and granola bars and the shoulder straps, and top handle don't ever feel like they are going to give way under the weight.

Additionally this is a great bag for travelling and fits very easily in front of you under the seat or in an overhead compartment. For my purposes this was more important than having the extra space for more kit and having to worry about whether I have to check in my camera kit.

So if you are looking at this bag, be aware that there are better, more spacious bags available, but ensure that if you travel a lot, they will not impede you from overhead compartments on the airlines you tend to use.

If your looking for a great bag that you can carry your laptop, slr with -2-3 lenses, and some additional accesories look no further. I especially like that the bag when placed on the floor can stay upright and not fall over like most other bags. Laptop and SLR sections have their own compartments each well paded.

Sierra Designs Herald 30 Backpack

Sierra Designs Herald 30 BackpackI purchased the sierra designs backpack for black friday with other lightening deal items, somehow this bag seems to be the most useful item in my whole bunch of purchase.

I went to a 2 days 1 night expedition trip last week, all the stuff can be well fit into the bag with some extra spaces for my thinkpad and down jacket while it was too hot during the trip. It is nice as well for the design of back support well fit and good ventiliation provided.

Nice work from Sierra Designs!

Cocoon CBP750GY Backpack, up to 17 inch laptop, 19.75 x 8.5 x 13.5 inch, Gray

Cocoon CBP750GY Backpack, up to 17 inch laptop, 19.75 x 8.5 x 13.5 inch, Grayas i've become spoiled with amazons rapid delivery,i was surprised when this took 12 days to receive.although it did come within delivery range estimated.had the bag for about a month.very comfortable with padded back support and straps.have used rain hood and is a nice feature.i use the side mesh to hold 18 oz.thermos and a travel mug in opposite one. the side straps can also be tightened over thermos to make even more secure.the "grid-it" organizer that's included comes in handy.so far impressed with quality and roominess.UPDATE:1.5 years and holding up good.some seam stretching but not critical yet.failed to mention before but it has a center strap that connects across the chest, that nicely distributes weight away from shoulders.

I love this bag. It's great for carrying around all my tech stuff to and from work, whether I'm riding my bicycle or flying.

It's kind of small, so don't expect to cram a ton of stuff in the main compartment. I kind of like this though since I tend to overload my bags, making my back strain pretty hard when bicycle riding or walking through terminals trying to catch a flight. Fits my MacBook Pro nicely, with enough room for my KindleDX, some books, and water bottles.

I really like the included Grid-It organizer in the smaller pocket, as this makes wrangling USB sticks, cables, etc much easier.

Seems like the construction is pretty tough so far. Most of the zippers have a strips of water resistant tape over them, which is a nice, especially when coupled with the built in rain hood. I wouldn't say that this is waterproof by any means, but its decent enough to ride for a while in the rain and not worry about sensitive electronics getting damaged.

Overall, I like the look, build, and function this backpack provides, just wish that they would make a bigger model for longer trips.

When I decided to purchase a 17 inch laptop, I put zero consideration into how I would haul it around. A messenger bag style case was not comfortable, and couldn't accommodate all the other junk I need to carry on a daily basis. I will say that if I don't have my other items packed just so, it is a tad tight to zip the bag around the laptop. That could just be because I carry too much stuff, but I think the bag could stand to be just a smidge taller. There is an inset on the bag which is a weird material that I don't love, but is certainly not a deal breaker. Overall, comfortable to carry, roomy and well made. Would purchase again. I am interested to see how it holds up to my daily use.

So I bought this backpack back at the end of August for school use. I have 8 days of school left and the backpack has held up decently. Now the first problem that I immediately encountered with this pack is that the main pocket was rather small and couldn't fit all my books easily, although, through a combination of stretching the fabric and better space management it isn't too bad. I can comfortably carry all my notebooks, folders and my math book. The front compartment is pretty great though, it carries my school ID, pencils, calculator and some other things very well. The pocket on the vinyl patch on the front is ok for a book or something like that, but that's all I've ever bothered to use it for. The media pocket on the top is a bit of a hassle to put up with when something's in it because it is housed on the inside of the main pocket, so when my phone is in it and I'm trying to put my math book away it can be a problem. I usually keep my math book in the laptop compartment because it seems to have some extra room, but I have housed my laptop in it and it was just fine. My final complaint is that the mesh bottle holders have weakened over the months of me putting bottles in them everyday. I occasionally have one fall out on me when I'm picking up my bag. Despite all the ragging I've done on this bag, it has served me well, only showing some minor rips and tears here and there and some cuts on the vinyl.

To be honest this is a good backpack for just your laptop, I just carried my laptop in it before and it worked very well. I just feel like there are better options for school. Also, the included cocoon grid-it is pretty useful.

Central Park Sport – CBP750

Sport BackpackUp To 17" Laptops

I bought this backpack on sale at the manufacturer's website for 50% discount. Since it has a one-year warranty, I accepted that I would use this to failure while looking for another backpack for my needs. That was about a year ago, and after using this backpack extensively for hauling officework, my 15.4" laptop, lunch, and groceries on the way home all by walking over three miles a day, it has yet to fail, which is why I'm mildly amazed.

I'm not fond of the front panel or the bottom panel of the backpack. The manufacturer's, Amazon.com's, and SmartOne's websites don't indicate the material of the pack. It appears to be nylon material for most of the backpack and possibly TPU on the front and bottom panels.

TPU is a thermoplastic polyurethane hybrid material of hard plastic and soft silicone. This material has lasted through all four seasons without cracking or weathering, but has not yet seen the extreme arctic temperatures in the next few weeks where it is headed.

Every inch of the cavernous compartments are filled to capacity by using packing cubes and rolling clothing and socks to fill any empty spaces. Even the top compartment dedicated for media storage (i.e., iPod Touch with an exit port for the headphones) is stuffed with small, hard-cased items. I have yet to fly out but still the overfilled backpack has not failed.

I'm thinking of taking this backpack on travel excursions more often for business in the future until it finally does fail from the hard use and abuse I give it.

I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a spacious daypack fast and doesn't mind window shopping for a better quality backpack at the same time to replace it. If you use a daypack alot, especially walking daily with it to work and anywhere else, including abuse (I haven't packed it with wrapped bricks yet for the GoRuck Challenge), the Cocoon Central Park Sport will last you at least a year.

Microsoft 17.3-Inch Neoprene Laptop Sleeve (Black) (39512)

Microsoft 17.3-Inch Neoprene Laptop SleeveNo frills, nor storage, just a nicely built sleeve to protect your investment into a laptop. Simplicity is the key word here, no storage, no pen sleeves, no power adapter pockets, just one big pocket with dimple padding on both sides, two stout zippers and a pair of web handle straps for carrying. I believe that it will do well on its' own and superior when stowed in a backpack, attache' or suitcase.

I gave this item a five star rating because it does what it is designed to do, protect that expensive laptop computer. The only negative I can state is the web strapping does not do a complete wrap around. The one inch width on the bottom is not reinforced. Other that that I could not fault the item for the minor design flaw based on my opinion.

I do recommend this sleeve to anyone in need of protection for a laptop or other expensive items.

This sleeve just barely covers my new 17.3" laptop. It is a tight fit and doesn't allow for peripherals, but I have a tote I use for my power cord, mouse, and extra items. I got this mainly to protect the laptop. It's well made and a good value.

This laptop case is light and waterproof. Good design and enough compartments. If needed you can add some light stationery as well.

This is a near perfect bag, and I'm even able to squeeze my power cord into it (a little tight, but it's in)! I wish I wasn't advertising Microsoft (or any vendor), but it wasn't easy to find a neoprene bag with handles. It fits the bill.

Researched and even bought a few other sleeves from other websites but this one was perfect. My Mac 17" fits perfectly and the width is roomy enough for charger and wireless mouse. Only wish that it came in other colors.

Acme Made Courier Gradual Squares 15.4-Inch Laptop Bag (Brown/Black)

Acme Made Courier Gradual Squares 15.4-Inch Laptop BagThe bag would probably keep out water to an extent, but because of the nature of the checkered surface being cottony, I'm dubious it would look nice after a serious dousing. Likewise the cloth strap, which is not detachable.

Also, while the bag fit my specific needs exactly this is not the bag to get if you're somebody who likes to overstuff your bag. If you put just a little too much in the front compartment, it's not going to adjust well, and makes keeping the lid shut via the magnets (which are cool) difficult. It also does not have the 'expanding zipper' like some fancier bags do, to give your bag some extra room if you'd need it once in a while. Similarly the interior. If you put your 15" laptop in here, plus a slim writing pad or ipad, and the power supply + cords, that is all that is going to fit. (Ok you can probably fit a magazine or two in the back zipper pocket).

The original reviewer who gave 1 star for 'false advertising' is not off the mark. The bag is indeed a dark brown, which is difficult to see in the photo, but the bag front with the checkers does look exactly like that. Also note that the zippers are a goldish color. I don't think these guys deserve 1 star for their product, but yeah, the photo could be better.

The bag pictured in the image is black with brown squares. The bag I received was brown with black squares. Nothing kills me more than false advertising

MILITARY STYLE MESSENGER BAG LAPTOP CASE BOOKBAG OLIVE DRAB

MILITARY STYLE MESSENGER BAG LAPTOP CASE BOOKBAG OLIVE DRABBasically I like the bag. It is slightly smaller than what I had expected. It is doable though. The biggest drawback is the buckle on the strap continually gets twisted. If it were a bit more heavy-duty, it would be great. I am using it for a school bag and can only hold my notebook and one large text-book at a time. I was hoping to not have to swap my books out. All in all, for the price it is good.

I really like this bag. It is the perfect size, and has the perfect size pockets for my stuff. Only downsides are that the item photo is of the khaki bag, which I wish I had gotten instead, and the strap is a little thin. I wish it was a detachable strap so I could buy a real nice one instead.

At first this bag was really great. Looked good and seemed sturdy. It has now been 2 and half months and the buttons are falling off, rivets are gone, zipper is broken, and strings are dangling. Product doesn't stand up. I wouldn't get again.

I really liked the look of this bag and found it's size for my 14 inch laptop and notebooks, among other things, to be good. But, after a very short time it began to fall apart. At first just a zipper pull that wouldn't stay on, then velcro that came un-stitched, the padded divider that separates the laptop compartment and the storage area came unattached as well, the pirate decal on the front fell off, reallyit was no biggie when it was one thing but the more parts that malfunctioned or broke the less useful it was. If you want to go cheap and buy a new laptop bag every 6 months a year, go for this one. If not, look elsewhere as I am right now.

Was purchased to be a laptop bag, however it's so thin and flimsy I wouldn't trust it to protect my laptop.

MONSTER HIGH 16" Backpack & ULTIMATE Back to School Set includes Gutzy Gear Straps and Patches, Lun

MONSTER HIGH 16' Backpack & ULTIMATE Back to School Set includes Gutzy Gear Straps and Patches, Lunch Tote, Folders, and more!My granddaughter loves Monster's High. She was thrilled to get this for her birthday (7). If it makes going to school a little more fun, then it's a very good thing.

I ordered this for my 6 year old (soon to be 7) for first grade. She loves Monster High and this was a big hit! I let her pick it out. I thought for sure she would like a bright colored one but she chose this one because she can see all the characters. We love it! These backpacks sell quickly in your regular stores but we got this just in time. Definitely weird texture on the outside for a backpack because it's soft and smooth but we love it! The folders, notebook and pencils were nice too. Quality that you would expect for kids school supplies.

Kelty Women's Redstart 23 Daypack

Kelty Women's Redstart 23 DaypackMy only objection to this product was a total deal-breaker for me. The "one size" seems to be for someone with a very long torso and/or very large frame. I'm 5'3 to 5'4"-ish and kinda Medium sized.

I'm happy to adjust the fit using the usual daypack adjustment straps. This pack had these, but I felt that the range of adjustment was too limited. It may be difficult to make a large range of adjustments happen in female-friendly ways, so that may be why the range was limited. Tell the product manager to break this product into two sizes, or to market it more clearly. That would save everyone time and money.

So, the biggest problem that I had was the huge amount of length between the top of the shoulder straps and the highest possible place you can put the sternum strap. With the sternum strap across my sternum (as opposed to across somewhere lower, no thank you!), the shoulder straps were riding about 2-3" above my shoulders. I tried loading the pack to see if that helped. Nope.

The other problem I had was that when adjusting to shorten below the bustline, as well as when adjusting the waist strap in, the rather broad shoulder straps tended to scythe in at the sides. Way not female-friendly.

Too bad, as I just loved this product "on paper." Great & very thoughtful design of compartments and pockets, good color, nice price. Hence there are some stars (two).

If you have a long torso or large frame and have turn-around time to risk a return, give it a whirl. Otherwise beware.

Amazon's online return process was real easy to follow -just a few clicks and print a label. Kudos there.

Purchased this for my wife. She plans to use it for day hikes with the scouts. She is tall and was having problems getting a pack to fit right. This one fits her perfect, and she liked the padded straps, and the many divied compartments.

My Walmart backpack busted on the walk home from work while holding a ton of groceries. So I decided to get a better pack, this is decent for the price. It fits really well on me, although I wish it opened a bit wider and didn't have so many tiny compartments as soon as you open it but other than that the stiff hmpd back pad is so nice!

Want Kelty Women's Redstart 23 Daypack Discount?

I have been looking for years for a women specific day pack that would meet all my requirments. I finally found it, and for a great price! Kelty quality construction. It will last a long, long time.

It isn't too big to use every day for any task, yet I can see taking it for a weekend trip (I am a light packer). it will be great for day hikes this summer. Has organizer compartment on inside of main compartment for all your little things, plus 2 mesh water bottle holders. Nice size for a woman, not too wide of shoulder straps. I am 5'7 and medium frame and it fits great, not too heavy or cumbersome.

LIC Genuine Leather "The Organizer Backpack"

LIC Genuine Leather 'The Organizer Backpack'This backback was an inch smaller in all stated dimensions, making it too small for my use. The leather is thin but soft. It looks like it is made OK. The price is low enough that sending it back if you do not like it is not worth it, as you loose the cost of shipping both ways.

Incase Campus Pack / Backpack - Aubergine / Cranberry - CL55418

Incase Campus Pack / Backpack - Aubergine / Cranberry - CL55418The backpack has ample space to carry a laptop (slim profile), a 980+ page hardcover textbook, 2 regular notebooks, plus a small lunch and thermos with some room to spare. The one thing that would have made it perfect is the addition of one more pocket in the main compartment with a zipper for items you want to secure inside. The backpack does have 4 pockets inside: main sleeve for laptop (with fleece on the back part only), sleeve for iPad (or notebooks in my case), two small pockets on inside front, and 2 pen slots. The top pocket on the exterior is smaller than excepted (a smartphone and Chapstick is about all that will fit) but the bottom one is bigger than excepted. The zippers were a little hard to open at first, but with use they slide more smoothly. Overall, very comfortable and seems durable. The purple color is not overly bright either, so still looks professional but with an edge.

Herschel Supply Crest Backpack

Herschel Supply Crest Backpack Black Rip Stop, One SizeMy Herschel Rip Stop backpack shredded in a few months of use. When I sent it back, the company admitted that they discontinued the Rip Stop line because it was 'defective.' Do NOT buy this product and be wary of Herschel products in general. Return policy was not great, charging $15 to ship a wallet and computer sleeve to NYC (the only things of reasonable cost on their site).

My son told me the other day that he loves the backpack and that it is holding up well for him.
