Dakine Recon Pack

Dakine Recon Pack, Charcoal/OrangeThis is a great backpack! I have had it for a couple months now. Wearing it primarily for my walks to and from work, it remains very comfortable in most carrying positions for those few miles. The bag has proven rugged and spacious thus far. I fill it with almost 40 pounds of stuff. It easily holds a large thermos of ice water, hand tools, my lunch bag, some toiletries, a spare shirt, plus many small things such as my phone and some pens. More than any less expensive bag I have bought without showing any signs of wear. I am confident that it will hold everything for any weekend road trip I may take. My only complaints about the bag is that while all that stuff fits it does get bulky, although still comfortable. Also, the "cooler pocket" is definitively worthless as a cooler. I put a bottle of frozen water in the pocket and it did not last any longer than the bottle of frozen water I had in my hand while walking. But those complaints aside I feel this bag still deserves a five star rating on the merits of it durability, roominess and comfort.

This backpack is slick and is well-made. I like how the logo doesn't stand out too much. The curves let people know it's no cheapo. The water-resistant compartments can also come in handy.

The backpack was a bit taller than I had expected, but the width is fine, and once I got used to it, the height was no problem.

The straps fit ergonomically and help the backpack stay secure while jogging and such. It does bounch a little if there's weight in it, but it's usually not a problem, though sometimes it can make your shirt ride up. The straps could have prevented the bounce, in theory, but they're too high-up for that.

The outermost (magnet-close) drop-pocket comes in handy for putting away folded papers that will be needed again soon.

Overall though, this backpad is smooth, relatively stable, and clearly good-quality. Also, even though there is light padding in some parts, the pack is not too thick when mostly empty, and the bottom compresses with ease (it's not hard-bottom).

My husband was worried that this backpack would be to big and bulky. We were surprized to find it perfect size for him and the stuff that he needs to carry in it.

This bag is more than what I expected. The compartment on the back is the perfect size for my 17" laptop and then has more pockets than I know what to do with. It's comfortable enough to carry the laptop plus all my textbooks and supplies. Perfect for college. Well worth every penny.

I just received this bag through the mail, and I was pleasantly surprised with the size.

I was under the impression that it was going to be smaller than it was. All the pockets

that you can utilize are great. The only thing that feels sketchy is the wetsuit pocket,

because from the feel it kind of doesn't look wet proof. But aside from that this will be

a great school and recreational backpack. The ergonomics and feel of the bag is very comfortable

and like I said plenty of pockets to store stuff. I especially love the cooler pocket, it

could be bigger but good as it is. The shades pocket is also very convenient. Overall great

pack highly recommended. I'm always pleasantly surprised by DaKine products.
