Osprey Farpoint 55 Travel Backpack

Osprey Farpoint 55 Travel Backpack, Mud Red, Small/ MediumI got this pack about six months ago before a trip through Central America. I really liked the panel zipper to open it from the side (not top loading) which made it really easy to get to stuff. It is a really lightweight pack. It is also convenient to zip away the back straps if you want to check it when flying. I think the pack with the daypack detached could pass as a carry on. I thought the daypack was a little small, but honestly it is probably better to stop me from bringing things I don't need on day trips.

I am a female 5ft7in approx 150lbs and I think this pack is the perfect size for me. I could carry it easily. However, I mainly carry just clothes and toiletries around (no camping, hiking gear), so you may want to look at other packs if you are looking to carry all that stuff. If you are debating between the 55L and 70L, I would go with the 55L because it will help you limit yourself and travel light.

I would also recommend getting packing cubes. They work great! Overall, I love this osprey pack and would highly recommend it. Osprey also has a terrific warranty.

I purchased this backpack for a month-long trip to India. After obsessively reading many different backpack reviews, I settled on this one for the optional detachable day pack and it's compact size. I was able to fit everything I needed into this pack and had no difficulties using the entire bag as a carry-on for the plane rides.

When traveling by train, I took advantage of the lockable zippers. I found that using packing cubes helped significantly when moving in and out of different places.

I am 5'6" and was fitted at a local store before purchasing the small size.

Went on a 2 week backpacking adventure through South East Asia. Wanted something light, strong, highly functional, and just big enough but not too big that I can't carry it on. The Osprey Fairpoint 55 did not disappoint. Took it right into the cabin with me on my trans-Pacific flight and right into the cabin in small jets to small prop planes too. Never an issue. Plus, if the pack gets a bit too big and you think you'll get flagged to check it in when you check in, you just snap off the small backpack and just carry it in the other hand.

It's very, very well engineered and SUPER light. Very comfortable to wear as well for longer periods of time.

If you're looking to do a few weeks and are an efficient packer, definitely consider this pack. It's quality

I was extremely happy with this pack. I purchased the medium/large and It was my only luggage on a 2 week trip to Ireland. I was able to carry it on all of my flights and I had to change planes 3 times. It fit very nicely in the overhead bin going overseas. The only time it didn't fit was on a small plane for a 30 minute flight I took to Atlanta, but I was able to put the pack under the seat in front of me. I was never asked to check it. It has a lot more space than you would think. (3 sweaters, 2 Jeans, 2 khaki pants, 5 shirts, 5 pair underwear and 5 pair socks, 2 pair gloves, chargers, ipad and adapters) I also like that the backpack straps are concealable. This pack was stuffed full when I was wearing it through the airport, running at times, it was very comfortable. Kept all my clothes dry too, considering it rained almost my entire trip. As a guy that likes to travel light, I would definitely recommend the Osprey 55.
