Gregory Savant 58 Backpack

Gregory Savant 58 Backpack, Thundercloud Black, MediumGreat fit and plenty of space. Very comfortable. Not too hot. Plenty of pockets. Good access points and a hidden pocket for my wallet if I want to use it. Should be good for backpack camping and for our trip to europe.

Perfect fit on this pack, I went to my local REI and this was the only pack that didn't have some "sway" under a full 35 lbs load. Wouldn't recommend going over ~35lbs as it begins to effect the fit/performance at that point. One large pouch, which can be accessed from the outside thanks to the zipper on front of pack. Many tie/clip on points. Only beef is with the mesh pockets on the sides...a little snug for water bottles, you'll have to set down pack to get them out (although I've found that if you forgo your nalgene bottle and use the twist spout gatorade bottles, those are much more accessible. Has a pouch for water bladder, but haven't used. The incorporated rain-fly came in handy and kept the pack dry in wet conditions. Also has velcro fasteners for trekking poles. Looking forward to getting this thing out on a week long trek to test for performance over more than a weekend. Would recommend... Amazon price came in $50 below retails at REI.

I bought this backpack for my son. He is going on the PCT. It has worked wonderfully. We did add an extra coat of water resistant spray to it

Did everything that is promised to do. Survived a 10-day backpacking trip through Europe. Would recommend to anyone looking for a pack this size.

Long story short I bought this pack and then returned it and bought the gregory 65 Baltoro. This is a nice pack and would have been fine for my needs but if you like to use nalgene bottles instead of a hydration system there are issues. If you stuff your pack full you will find it is difficult to get a nalgene bottle in or out of the side pockets easily. This was a deal killer for me but I do think it is an excellent pack except for that especially with built in rain cover.

I think if they had used a draw string or something you could adjust it but hopefully they might make that change in the future. Like I said it is a nice pack and I wanted to keep it but I knew I couldnt live with that because I guess Im old school and dont like drinking out of a hose.

Really love my new Gregory 65 which has great side pockets.
