It's hard to tell from the pictures provided, but this is a small backpack. My 9 year old wanted an extra backpack to take toys to his friend's houses, and this has sufficed, but only just. It's sized for a preschooler, but would not work as a school backpack for elementary or higher.
Unless you have to fit about five giant text books, this backpack is great. Regular backpacks are oversized anyway. This is not just a backpack for kids.
