timi & leslie Hart Diaper Bag

timi & leslie Hart Diaper Bag, EspressoThis is my third Timi & Leslie diaper bag. While most people wouldn't see the need to have 3 diaper bags (well I have 2 skip hop bags too ... so 5 total), it's because they think of diaper bags as something you have for the baby.

The reason I love these diaper bags is because they support the idea that a baby isn't something you have a bag for -a baby is something you need to incorporate into your life. So it's more like you need all your handbags to be updated to handle diapers and toys and messy clothing. Not that you just need another bag. You can actually have different styles and colors and use them like you'd use any other handbag you mgiht have.

I use this like a handbag ... like a work bag ... like a toss-over-my-shoulder and go out with my friends bag. It's really a well designed and high quality bag, with a super soft (fake) leather than feels nice to hold. And it really has many well thought out compartments and accessories. I especially like the little clutch for your wallet. I absolutely use these bags regardless of whether the baby is with me. I have all 3 stocked with a couple of spare diapers/wipes, a toy or two, a food pouch, some formula, and a change of clothes. And there's still plenty of room for my stuff. Because I have all 3 bags stocked, I can grab any one. I'm not saying other people need more than 1 you don't. Just trying to stress just how much this really looks and feels like a stylish bag that fits into your lifestyle.

The main selling point of the Hart over the other great Timi & Leslie bags is that it works as a backpack. The straps are ample, so it's not a tight little teeny-bopper backpack. It looks and feels good on. For reference, I am 5'9 and carrying more than a bit too much baby weight, and this fits me just fine and I feel comfortable wearing it around. Truth is, I usually use a different Timi & Leslie bag with a cross-body strap, but this one is the one I grab when I'm using the baby carrier and need the front of my body to be mostly free.

The only downside to this bag is that if you want something you can hand to a guy (the baby's father, for example), it may be an issue for him since it very much looks like a woman's bag and not like a diaper bag. So maybe some guys would rather not have this be the Family Diaper Bag.

Anyway, I wholly recommend this bag. I love it. And this style specifically for those who baby wear. It's definitely the most compatible for that.

This bag has it all, extra straps, a milk bottle carrier, good looks, outside zippered compartments, and a soft brown expresso leather-like material with a faint metallic sheen. However, keep in mind that the top is a typical drawstring backpack top. If you have small items, they'll spill out if you have to put the bag under the plane seat in front of you, for example. The backpack straps are actually thin webbing, so you won't want to wear it as a backpack for very long, but it's nice that the option is available. Other than the drawstring and the thin straps, I like everything about this bag, so I give it 4 out of five stars.

I will start off this review by stating I do not use this timi & leslie Diaper Bag as a baby diaper bag. I do caregiving for some very disabled people, and I use this bag for them. Since A) many of the needs of small children are the same as for the elderly or disabled and B) this is a growing need, I thought I'd review this bag for those Amazon shoppers looking for solutions.

When you care for an adult, the last thing you want to be toting around is a neon pink diaper bag with elephants or whatever stamped all over it. People need their dignity. That being said, I have destroyed many a purse trying to carry the necessary wipes, liquids, medicines, emergency supplies, and food that are essential to get me and mine from A to B. This bag could not have been more perfect. It looks exactly like a gorgeous purse, and not one of the dozen people I showed it to realized it was a diaper bag. I use the lined bottle bag for transporting liquids, the dirty clothes bag for soiled items, the many zippered compartments for medicine bottles, the inside key fob for my wallet, the button-sealed inner section for important medical information, and everything else fits inside the roomy interior. This bag got soaked in the rain several times and dried off beautifully. The extra straps work to turn the bag into a backpack if I need both hands to push a wheelchair. The included handbag is very cute.

Drawbacks are very few. Because of the shape, the bag can tip over onto the back seat of your car rather easily, especially when only partially full. The top has a cinch-style closure; a zippered top would have been better for preventing everything from falling out. There's no ideal spot for a cellphone; I have another bag with a mesh compartment on the outside that is better for carrying a phone (you don't always have time up unzip a bunch of stuff to get to your phone). That's pretty much it for the downsides.

Adult care is a fast-growing area of life, and everything I've seen commercially to meet the needs of caregivers is hideous and/or depressing. So I use this. If you're a new Mom or shopping for one, you will love this bag. But even if you're not, very very useful and rating:

GRADE: A

A higher price point, but worth every penny.

My daughter is using this for a backpack to hold the stuff appurtenant to hauling around two young children [*lots* of stuff!]. The quality is great, very tough and attractive with a pebble-leather look. The feel is soft and pliable.

The zippers are all brass and they require just a little use to get them going but I ran into no fouled ones. A little soap on them and they worked beautifully.

There is no end to the pockets and nooks on the bag so it's easy to keep your stuff separated. The inside offers a nice slick lining and everything goes in and comes out of the main section quite easily, quick access. Two sets of straps and extra brass hooks-ons on the bag make it useable either as a backpack or as an over the shoulder bag.

What more can be said? It's first-class and will clearly last a very long time.

Highly recommended.

I received this as a gift in exchange for an honest review:

So although my children have moved on from the 'diaper bag' stage, I am in need more than ever before of a bag that can hold all that I need, and at the same time, not look lame. I remember registering for a diaper bag a few years back, boy things have changed since then. This is by far the most beautiful bag I have ever had, AND it comes with all the perks of a diaper bag. So maybe for some, this doesn't meet their standards of a nice bag, but for me, I'm coming at it from the perspective of it works really well to keep me organized with multiple children.

Some of the features I really like:

1. It's a fake leather. This is great from a PETA perspective, but for me that feature is great because anything that gets spilled on it wipes away easily with a baby wipe.

2. The multiple inside pockets. I can use one side for me, the other for the kids, keeps things organized.

3. The key ring. Critical to getting the kids in the car faster, no more searching to the bottom of my bag for my keys.

4. The construction. It isn't a flimsy bag, very well made, no random strings hanging out from places, and well placed buckles and straps.

5. The inside small "purse". I use it everyday for small trips. It only holds my small Coach wallet and smartphone, which is exactly what I need it for.

Personally, I obviously don't need the bottle holder, but it will hold drinks for my young kids. I have had so many supposed leak-proof cups spill inside my purse, this will make things easier. I also don't need the diaper changing pad, but that would have come in super handy when I was in airports or other public restrooms and there was no diaper changing area (or it was too gross to use).

I got this is espresso, and it's super cute. I do like the backpack straps, and like that they are optional. For me, I could either go with a super compact bag, but it doesn't really hold much, or use a bag like this and always be sure I had everything I needed. And at the same time look "cool". I would definitely recommend this to my friends.
