Everest Sling Backpack

Everest Sling BackpackI must say, i wasn't expecting this thing to be this big, or built well given the price, the photo doesn't do the Sling Backpack justice since in my opinion its amazing!

Quality 9.5/10 Top Grade, feels lightweight enough to carry around without much hard work involved even with the main pocket filled, and its made with good fabric, i`m assuming a mixture of Poly and some Lace maybe even? good stuff, i`m very impressed.

Only thing missing that i REALLY wanted was a water holding slot, i suppose you could put bottled water or juice/wine in the Main pocket but its not a dedicated slot for it.

Design 10/10 I chose the Black x Purple design, and was kinda iffy at first because the purple in the photo doesn't look that great, but after looking at it after getting it, its stylish, The purple is deep and nice, they have a wide array of colors to chose from, most involving black which matches with almost any color. Very happy to find it in my most favored combo.

Storage 9/10 I wasn't expecting much, in fact given the picture i was only expecting two Med sized pockets and maybe a key-chain ring, i REALLY underestimated this thing, it has a total of 2 Small, 1 Medium, and 1 Large Pockets in total, there is also a Key chain ring as well!

2012 Update: And if your a gamer like me, the Medium Slot pocket can hold your PSVita, 3DS, PSP and DS all together in harmony and still have plenty of room left over! (Or any other devices like a Cell Phone, iPod, Zune Etc...) It hugs my PSP tightly and firm which is good and keeps i safe, but im assuming stuff like a cell or certain models of iPod would be moving around a bit but it should be fine. anyway there's A-LOT more space then i had first thought, well worth the money for the quality.

Portability 7.5/10 It's not to small, not to big, not to light not to heavy, this bag is truly balanced and isn't garbage, but it's not the best in terms portability, but i still rank it higher than most others considering the Value factor, if anything. Just keep in mind, and keep this Sling bag near you at all times because it's not the most enduring thing in the world, keep it on your back where it belongs as much as possible if your not using it.

Value 10/10 Epic, nothing much else to say, most others looking this nice with more than 2 slots run for about $40 or more, anything under that from where i checked around Amazon either looked ugly or lacked space, fortunately this wasn't the case for the Everest Sling backpack, Style and Quality good stuff.

Overall 9.7/10 Almost perfect for what i was looking for, could have used a water bottle/juice bottle holder but other than that its awesome, also for some trivia, i was originally looking for the man equivalent of a woman's purse, but you know.. for dudes, but then i bought the Video Game, "InFamous 2" (Hero Edition) and it came with a bonus backpack looking thing and i was confused as to what the heck it was(The colors were ugly yellowxgray but was curious on its one strap design), after a quick goggle search turns out there official name is "Sling Bags or Sling Backpacks" a very good traveling alternative ultimately in the end.

The backpack is nice looking and worked well for the first few times I used it, which was every three days or so with light use only, carrying very little inside, wearing it for only a couple of hours when used.

In about 6 weeks of such light use the across the shoulder strap just came undone. That is, the nylon lining on the inside of the strap pulled out from under its stitching, revealing it was cut too narrow and was never well beneath the stitching in the first place. Reasonably good materials but shoddy construction. With very little use and wear, the inner side of the shoulder strap just came undone, pulling away from the stitching and revealing the plastic padding inside and soon it will all just fall apart as the inner nylon lining comes unstitched all the way down one side of the strap.

Look to another product if you are looking for even just moderate durability. Again, the problem is shoddy construciton the inner strap lining barely reaching underneath the stitched seam, which is why it pulled away from the stitched seam with little use.

In followup: Everest, the manufacturer, has a good warranty for USA buyers. However, "good" in this case isn't good enough. Everest told me to return the backpack to them at my shipping expense, and also include $9.50 in payment with the return and they will repair or replace the defective backpack at their option. Given the price I paid here, this comes to essentially the price I paid for the backpack, delivered (free shipping as an Amazon Primier member). This means that it is better for to buy a new backpack, since this guaranteed I get a new backpack instead of a repaired backpack, risking repair of an already defective product. The purchase cost is within pennies of the cost of warranty return. If the product had cost more, then the warranty return option would be viable, of course.

Will I buy another backpack? I'm thinking about it but probably not. The backpack materials are high quality but the construction of the backpack shoulder strap was amazingly shoddy. The inner shoulder strap nylon liner was cut way too narrow and the stitching holding in place barely touched the fringe edge of the inner lining, which is why it pulled out and away from stitching down the stitching line, because the stitching did not actually stitch through the shoulder strap inner lining.

Buy Everest Sling Backpack Now

I purchased the everest sling backpack. My daughter loves the backpack she is 10 yrs. old. If you have alot of books however, you might want to purchase a larger backpack. As someone mentioned in the reviews, there is not a place for a water bottle. Also, there is not alot of zippered compartments. The backpack seems to be well made and as I said my daughter loves it.

I bought two of these for car based bug-out bags. They hold 3 days water, food, some other useful stuff like a little med kit and flashlights and rope.

Three pockets: Large main pocket, smaller front pocket, and a very small vertical zipper pocket, also has a little webbing pocket on the shoulder strap up front that's nice.

Zippers are ok, stitching is ok, fabric is ok; this is a light use backpack. A one school season backpack, maybe two before something tears.

Sling shoulder strap features pretty decent velcro with a clip. I like.

In all, very good for the price, and very good for my use which is just to sit in a car and hold lots of useful things like a knife, flashlight, rope, and med kit.. and some stuff that might be useful in case of a disaster in the area. This is not a rugged pack.

This is not an adults sling bag as advertised.. I'm relatively small and it wouldn't fit around my chest to use it as a sling. I didn't carry much in it, but it had plenty of space inside. The shoulder strap ripped open after only a few weeks of use and then the zipper split. I repaired both, but the strap ripped in yet another place. I don't recommend this product for adults because it doesn't fit average sized people and I wouldn't really recommend it for children either because of it's lack of durability.
