This backpack would be good for pre-school use. Not intended for school books. The arm straps ripped first day of use. This back pack is good for a change of clothes and naptime blanket. Roomy enough for books/folders but the construction will not hold up. Daughter was very disappointed.

I was so happy when i first recieved my backpack, it is sooo adorable. Unfortanetly, it isn't very durable. Literally, the first time I took my backpack to school and used it, I noticed that the right strap was half pulled out! So my backpack in on the verge of only having one strap. After using only one time!! I was dissapointed, and now my mother has to try and see if she can fix it:(

Durable fabric. My grand daughter loves the print. It is also the size that it will not hurt her back when fully loaded. With this print the dirt will not show and will not have to be cleaned as much.

Purple Butterfly Design Laptop Sleeve Bag with Hidden Handle for 13.3 inch Notebook (Various Models)

I was looking for a lightweight sleeve for my personal laptop, after much success using a sleeve for my work laptop. This one caught my eye, it's just so cute! The lining could be a tad thicker (it's hard to tell by the photos or description), and the print is not the greatest (seems a bit off register or faded), but it does the trick rather nicely and it looks great next to my purple iPad sleeve. I wouldn't trust the handles (my issue, no reflection on the quality of the product) but the few trips my new laptop has done in it went on without a hitch. Good find, but don't expect the same quality as a Targus or computer-branded product.

Mountainsmith Rain Cover

The cover itself appears to be well made; however, I did notice that the Amazon.com sizing chart is incorrect. I believe this is the main reason for some of the less-than-perfect reviews. Below are the true measurements as according to the product packaging:

XS: Fit range: 1000 1800 cu in/ 15 30 L

20" X 14" x 7.5"

S: Fit Range: 1800 2500 cu in/ 30 40 L

27" X 16" X 8.5"

M: Fit range: 2500 3600 cu in/ 40 60 L

28" X 19" X 10"

L: Fit Range 3600 6000 cu in/ 60 100 L

31.5" X 20" X 11"

This seemed like a great little item for a specific purpose a cheap way to "waterproof" my camera backpack.

I saw similar items (for 3-times the price) at a local sports accessory store but chose the Mountainsmith for a few reasons.. color (Black opposed to Olive, Orange, Red or light Grey that the other brand offered), and price (1/3rd!)

After actually trying it out, I realize it's not the same it has a few critical issues that keep me from truly "trusting" it.

First, some information about it -

The sizes are VERY large. The "Small" size seemed big enough for a decent sized hiking backpack. The Extra Small size would probably be good for a regular school backpack or small camera backpack. The Extra Small size seems to be hard to come by and often comes at twice the price of the Small size maybe a demand issue?

It does have a pull-string to tighten it, so even the Small can be made to accommodate smaller sizes if needed (though not the ideal solution).

The entire cover folds up into itself it has a protective pouch/carrying case which is connected to the cover.

There is a big ugly logo right in the center of the cover (of the company logo and name) printed onto the material. I really didn't care for that design choice and ended up "Sharpie'ing" over it (as any stickers/tape would come off when folded up. The same logo is on the pouch this is just a personal design choice, you may feel differently.

On to the problems -

The pouch wraps around the backpack, leaving the back (starting where the straps come off the backpack) open this is a problem for me as this leaves a "V" shape open between your back and the back of the backpack that water will travel down with the back of the backpack exposed, the water will get in there (this area of the backpack is usually where stuff is placed in a camera backpack, it's where the lenses, cameras and accessories sit), essentially just protecting the front pockets of the backpack (which are often less important). The other problem being that the cover wraps around the bottom of the backpack (and slightly up the back) which creates an area for water to get into and sit (at the bottom of your backpack) the "other" brand seen in stores had little eyelets to release water, this one doesn't. If water gets in, it will sit there.

So I find this useful for LIGHT protection maybe a sprinkling or short period in the rain (running to the car), but I wouldn't trust walking around for lengthy periods with this protecting expensive equipment. For LIGHT protection (sprinkling and in areas where rain is infrequent (like California) it's better than nothing and the price is right. For anything more, I'd pass.

As suggested by Mountainsmith, for example if you get a pack around 70 liters you would want a rain cover that is a large.

I've got the Mountainsmith Cross Country 3.0 and it fits just fine, keeps everything dry and has a great storage system and is light weight.

I have Tamrac 5587 photographer backpack Tamrac 5587 Expedition 7x Photo/Laptop Backpack (Black) with the optional large SPX-777 side pockets attached to it. SPX777 M.A.S. Large Padded Pockets (Black) The MEDIUM Mountainsmith Rain Cover covers all of this easily with room to spare. As noted by others, these rain covers run quite large...I think I could also get it over a sleeping bag lashed to the bottom of my pack if desired. One note, a product feature listed here ("Hook-and-loop closure and angled cord attachment point") has nothing to do with the rain cover, it actually refers to the bag the cover is stuffed into. An example of mfr. trying to make something sound more exciting than it is...but at less than half the price of the Tamrac-brand rain cover, which does not fit my pack with the added side bags, this one from Mountainsmith is very reasonable. I haven't tested it in the rain but expect no problems and will update if I learn otherwise.

Jansport Santiam Backpack

Backpack does the job. I had to replace my prior backpack same brand / same model as it ripped open in the washing machine. My fault, I should have brought it to the launderette. I needed a new one. I bought the same brand/model I had before because I was so happy with it. Seems to me the material on the new purchase is not as durable, seems thinner and cheaper. Zippers don't seem as strong either.

It's doing the job. I'll continue to use it. Just get the feeling it won't last as long as I would like.

I've bought Jansport backpacks pretty regularly, yet this one just seems to lack the quality that the previous ones had.

I love this backpack. It's stylish, roomy and very durable.

The padded straps and padded back make this also

extremely comfortable, even under heavy load.

It looks awesome as well. My new favorite!

Spiderman Large Rolling Backpack

I purchased this over 6 months ago for my son who is 5. It is great and roomy to put everything you need. It is not very durable,(not happy about that) the back straps broke but my sons rolls the backpack and hardly puts it on his back.

I chose this rating not because I'm upset, but rather because the design and quality of this backpack is seriously lacking. First, it doesn't stand up by itself, it falls over. It may sound minor, but it's very frustrating after a while. Second, there's excess material on the back of the pack that slumps and drags on the ground when you roll it (my son's is worn right through). Third, the net drink pouch hangs so low that it also drags on the ground. We've ruined his aluminum drink bottle AND wore a huge hole in the net pouch. This backpack is now thrashed, and the school year isn't even half over.

I would not recommend this backpack at all. The only plus is the cool artwork on the front.

I bought this backpack for my 5 yr old who is in Kindergarten. He loves superheroes so I figured this would be a great rolling back. The size of the backpack is very spacious with several compartments. However, after about 2 weeks, the mechanical frame that holds the wheels broke completely. The backpack was then unusable after that. The backpack was not handled roughly, but the roller wheels frame is not that durable.

Dakine Explorer Pack

What a great looking product!! Comfortable to wear, catchy design but not something too loud (if you know what I mean..) I love the fact that my 15" Unibody MacBook Pro fits in it just right, and have plenty of space to put some magazines, tools, external hard drives, accesories for my iPhone, etc etc... it's just PERFECT for the people that likes low profile looking backpacks but with a good amount of space to actually make a use out of it.

I bought this for my 16 year old son to use for travel. I bought it becuase it 'appeared' large enough and sturdy enough for his 15" laptop. IT IS! sturdy construction, I am hoping this one will last a few months. hahaha

We ordered this backpack because it's stated dimensions were bigger than the Dakine Campus Large backpack my son has. When he tried to load it up with his school books it actually held less than his old one, so we had to return it. Also, he missed the insulated compartment for his lunch.

Everest Luggage Deluxe Sling Bag

I purchased this small, inexpensive sling pack as an alternative to the much more expensive healthy back bags sold by other retailers. It's exactly what I was looking for at less than a third of the price. The backpack is significantly smaller and less bulky than an average backpack, but will hold a small laptop or iPad, a change of clothes for the gym, and other accessories in a compact space. It makes a good day pack for a hike or "personal item" to hold items during a flight and then stashed later in a larger carry on in an overhead bin.

material feels rigid and thin

zippers are not smooth. I have to use both hands to open/close them

the lid over one zipper is such a stupid design!

it goes on my right shoulder, making it "unnatural" to put on or take off for me as a right-handed person

can be a good gym bag, but not great for everyday commute or tourism.

The bag is sturdy, seems well made, functional and looks good. The only problem is that it is not ergonomically designed for physically maturing/mature women, but flat chested individuals. When worn above the breast, its chafing on the neck, and below is just too uncomfortable and unflattering. If not for the strap design, its a perfect sized day pack for hiking, or a day at the mall. Its not a bad product, I just wished it disclosed it was designed primarily with children and men in mind.

American West Large Drawstring Backpack

I get tons of compliments on this bag. I actually had a tag sale last weekend, and my bag was sitting next to my chair. It was the first thing I was asked the price for, lol. Dakine Girls Hip Pack

When I got this bag in the mail I was a little surprised at how big it is, even when it's empty. It's built very sturdy and each pocket is padded. Has a built in key clip and hidden zipper pocket in the large part of the bag. On my 5'1" frame it can be a little cumbersome (I've unwittingly hit some objects with it), but I'm sure I just need to get used to it. It's a great style and a huge upgrade from my last fanny pack. I feel like it's going to last me for a long time.

Love this. Great location for my camera so I dont have to worry about it getting beat up (its fleece lined in the pocket). Very nice. The backpack has ample space to carry a laptop (slim profile), a 980+ page hardcover textbook, 2 regular notebooks, plus a small lunch and thermos with some room to spare. The one thing that would have made it perfect is the addition of one more pocket in the main compartment with a zipper for items you want to secure inside. The backpack does have 4 pockets inside: main sleeve for laptop (with fleece on the back part only), sleeve for iPad (or notebooks in my case), two small pockets on inside front, and 2 pen slots. The top pocket on the exterior is smaller than excepted (a smartphone and Chapstick is about all that will fit) but the bottom one is bigger than excepted. The zippers were a little hard to open at first, but with use they slide more smoothly. Overall, very comfortable and seems durable. The purple color is not overly bright either, so still looks professional but with an edge.
