Ogio Newt II Laptop/Tablet Backpack

Ogio Newt II Laptop/Tablet BackpackI love this bag. Has a compartment for both my laptop and iPad while still maintaining a main compartment for all your other stuff. Great quality, complaint is that there is no side pocket for a water bottle. That's a little bit of a drag, but aside from the lack of a water bottle slot, it's a great bag.

Backpack is made very well (shouldn't expect anything less from Ogio). Very comfortable and roomy. Exactly what I was looking for in a backpack.

UPDATING MY ORIGINAL REVIEW from a 4 to 3 stars BELOW:

So after using this bag for almost a month now... I honestly cannot recommend this bag and wish i could send it back. I love the design, the quality, all the pockets, but....

The padding is ridiculous... You can hardly put anything in all the pockets because the part of the bag that is on your bag is so padded you cant even get comfortable??? You feel the bag when filled with a laptop and books digging in your back. Since the back isn't hard enough it flexes so if you have a book you feel a book digging in. A laptop a laptop digging in. Its not painful cause all the padding but the padding is the problem as its really thick and makes the back tug on your shoulders and bend your back backwards with the weight...

I love the bag so I think I am going to take a razor to the back and take out the padding and see how it works then... I may even try to open the back and put cardboard and see if my mother in law can sew it back up.

I was so excited to get this bag and love Ogio's products (we have 3 others in the family) and honestly disappointed by this design from Ogio. I may make a video review to warn others as it is a really nice bag but then you remind yourself why have all these pockets if you cant hardly fill them up cause there is to much protection...

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

Pros:

You will love the quality of this bag.

I have the black and love the quality and color of the bag.

Tons of pockets for your stuff and nice padding materials in all areas of the bag.

Great padding for your back, shoulder straps, and zipper tabs are nice quality.

Cons:

Honestly the Pros become the cons...

So with all the padding the bag feels very bulky... I love Ogio I have the Flux bag and just wanted more padding in the main compartment and space to put my computer stuff and books. Besides the padding issues the Flux was great and the strap system with the neck shoulder line bar you never noticed the bag was on your back...

So I decided to upgrade to a bigger bag. With this bag it has all the space for your stuff but, when you add your laptop, then a certification prep books, a tablet, fill in the pocket for electronic gear, add your charge cables to the side pockets, and some pens. You feel like wow I got all this in this bag and it doesn't look huge.

When you put it on and start to walk you feel the laptop in your back and the bag feels kind of lop sided or bulky. With the Flux the laptop sits in the main compartment and I thought the side sleeve would be better protection but you will feel it in your back since the back is no longer flat. If you have a 15 inch laptop you'll feel that much in your back, a 17 inch or a tablet you will feel that in your back with the straps tugging on your back the rest of the way up...

I don't want to ramble on but just wanted to share that. The bag is really nice if you own say a web site business and travel to show presentations or something and don't carry a lot of books. The bag is great but for a student with a lot of books. Just beware you might feel the bag tugging and hanging off your back.

Designer Sleeves 15-Inch Starry Night Laptop Case (15DS-STARN)

Designer Sleeves 15-Inch Starry Night Laptop CaseVery sturdy and attractive laptop case. Perfect, snug fit for my 15"-laptop (screen size 15.6".) Outer pocket is very spacious. The design is very well applied, detailed, and brightly colored. They didn't cut corners; the pattern is on the inside of the pocket as well. Inside of case is solid black.

Very nice design, the color is not cheap, so I don't expect it to wear off. Zippered pouch is roomy enough to cary my bulky charger, and there is still room. The overall bag is slightly larger than my laptop, which was the correct size recommended, so it moves around a bit inside but it's not bad if you need to carry a few manilla envelopes around with you too. It does not have any straps, or places to connect straps.

Pacsafe StashSafe 100 - Black

Pacsafe StashSafe 100 - BlackWent to St Maarten last Dec. I could fit two passports, money, credit cards, and small camera in pouch. I was very glad to have it. We locked it to two beach chairs and a cooler and then went for a walk. Figured if someone was going walk away with two beach chairs and a cooler, good luck to them! At another time, we locked it to the window bars in the villa we were staying in. It was an excellent purchase. Thinking about making another pacsafe purchase of a larger item, so I can have another that holds a larger camera and a few more items. I highly recommend buying one of these if you are travelling. Also, thought I would have trouble with airport security, but didn't have any problems.

Going to Europe soon and need a way to deter pickpockets and keep my "stuff" secure. I found the Stashsafe 100 and have been very pleased with my purchase. These are quality products, very well made. The Stashsafe 100 has a slash proof belt and a slash proof front pocket that is lined internally with stainless steel netting to help thwart intrusion by potential thieves. Lots of pockets and pouches to store your credit cards, passport, camera (pocket size) and other odds and ends you want to take with you. The pockets can be zipped up and locked with a brass lock secured to the waist strap for added security. My waist size is 38" and the belt fits comfortably, but if you are much over 40" it might be a tight fit. If you are looking for a secure fanny pack, this is it.

Buy Pacsafe StashSafe 100 - Black Now

Have had this fanny pack for probably 8 years. My first one had a problem within the year warranty and Pacsafe shipped a new one at no charge.

Pros: Great peace of mind-recently went on a trip and just locked it to the bed. Basically keeps the honest people out of your things. Have lost it three times, backtracked and found it at lost and found and twice the clerk said "Oh, the locked fanny pack" even though it wasn't locked. It appears to be with a small lock in place but you need to interlock the zipper handles and stainless braid that encircles your waist to fully lock it. That's a hassle if your accessing your wallet, credit cards and checkbook while shopping. Point is that people see the lock, they're honest and don't look any farther. Each time returned with over $50 cash in the non lockable pocket.

Has plenty of space for wallet, pill boxes, keys if you want, two secret compartments. In fact, many, many times I find that I have not zipped the outer pocket after last use and wallet is still just sitting there, hasn't fallen out or moved at all. Have never had my wallet fall out.

Con--If your waist or hip size is over 36 inches, you'll need the extender which is non lockable. You snap it in and out so you can still lock it to something immovable but your belt can be opened while you are wearing it. You have 42" of belt and pack. NO stretch. Run a tape around where you wear it, add a little for the flatness of the pack and go from there.

This sleeve is advertised as "for Sony VAIO S Series 15.5 inch" models. It is constructed with nice materials, but it definitely is too big for the advertised laptops that it supposedly fits. Also it lacks any significant padding around the outside edges of the laptop. Sure the laptop goes inside of it, but the laptop has several inches of movement inside in both directions. I would bet you could get a 17" model inside it. While it protects the laptop it certainly would not be too much help in the event of a drop.

Dakine 20-Litre Factor Pack

Dakine 20-Litre Factor PackI'm in love with this backpack. I ordered the spectrum and I love the green color. It has a pocket for everything I carry. Maybe other people need more or less pockets but for my daily use it's fine. The padded straps are super comfortable after breaking them in. The bag itself is a little bit taller than expected but that's ok. I agree with other reviewers, about the zippers being loud. I would've liked the older model which has a mesh zipper pocket in the front pocket, but this model serves its purpose. Also, the material does feel very sturdy and lasting, like it wouldn't break easily. I recommend this bag to anyone.

im a small chick, so i figured this would be a great buy but it's smaller than i thought it was going to be (even knowing the measurements). I recommend this as a buy for a middle school child or younger, but it's not really big enough for someone in college. It still does what i need it to do though so i guess i cant complain too much...

Bought this as a present for a teenage nephew he wanted a backpack to take on hikes/daytrips which this size is perfect for. The organising compartments are great too, letting him separate his stuff and there is waterbottle compartment on the outside.

i'm a bit of a backpack snob... i like compact bags in the 18L-22L range. and i have generally stayed with patagonia. but i finally ventured to dakine factor, given that the price is/was so low. first off, there's no comparison between the quality if the patagonia bags like the beeline or yerba and this dakine factor bag. the dakine zipper is so cheap, it's only a matter of time before it breaks. the materials are so much better on the patagonia bags. but i must says that i love this dakine bag. i have a young daughter, and like all parents, i'm required to be a diligent servant. so i love the two side pockets and the back pocket. they're wonderful for quick access. the patagonia yerba is comparable, but it is much more. the smaller of the two compartments has a nice array of small pockets for things like cards, pens, etc. the large compartment's laptop sleeve fits my 15-inch macbook pro. and i like the felt-lined top pocket for things like loose change, knife, and sunglasses.

but really, deciding on this bag is all about whether you're wanting those quick-access pockets. i love them.

lastly, i like my backpacks to maintain their shape regardless of what's in them. it helps organization. this is a nice, stiff bag that sits up when you put it down.

Want Dakine 20-Litre Factor Pack Discount?

This is a great product and Dakine is a great company for backpacks in my experience. However, I had to return the bag after realizing it was too small for my need. The 20-litre pack would be ideal for middle-high school students, but for college/graduate level, consider upgrading to the 33-litre. By comparison, the North Face Jackel/Optimus bag is 30-litres.

*A 15 inch Mac Book fits just fine inside the 20-litre but the corners will bulge out a bit.*

Tucano Work Out Backpack for 13' and 15' MacBook ProThis is as great bag. It is very comfortable and stylish. It's a slim model but can still carry a number of items. Love the color. I'm definitely glad I got the purple instead of the standard black. Glad I purchased it.

I wanted a backpack to relieve me from back and shoulder pans caused by carrying heavy shoulder bags. I was very careful in picking this one because as a professional I didn't want something childish looking nor did I want something that would make me look like I was student. This fit the bill perfectly.

a perfect backpack for the daily commute to work. the design makes it feel very light to carry around. not to mention a stylish design.

Logitech 15.4-Inch Notebook Sleeve and V220 Cordless Mouse

Logitech 15.4-Inch Notebook Sleeve and V220 Cordless MouseI bought this sleeve/mouse combo for my acer Aspire 5740 and it works wonderfully. The sleeve is nothing to brag about, it does exactly what a sleeve should and the pockets are great for the power cables.

The real selling point of this set is the mouse. I bought this about 11 months ago and the mouse is still running on the same battery that it came with. That is just phenomenal! Easy to use, easy to carry.

I originally bought this because it was on sale for $15 and that was about half the price of buying the sleeve and mouse separately. I think that at even the current $25 pricetag, its still an excellent deal. Do it.

FYI, my laptop is a 15.6 inch widescreen and this sleeve just about fits it. DO not buy this sleeve if you have a widescreen larger than 15.6! It will not fit!

I'm a senior in high school, and got this for my laptop, which I'll be using in college. I hate the track pads on laptops, first of all. Also I wanted something to carry my laptop around in and put the power cable in. This package does both, and includes a cordless mouse.

Pros: Excellent price; try buying these two items separately. The logitech mouse is amazing. It's portable, comfortable, tracks smoothly, and even comes with cool software to enhance its features (you can adjust the functions of each button, and even get a smooth scrolling add-on for your web browser). The laptop sleeve is equally impressive; well built, soft, stretchy (in case you need to stuff those pockets), and moderately padded. The pockets are big enough for the power supply cables and the mouse to fit in simultaneously if you squeeze them in.

Cons: This hasn't been a problem for me yet, but the usb receiver is a bit over an inch long. I've seen the same mouse come with a much shorter receiver; so I'm not sure why this one is longer. Laptop sleeve will not protect from drops... but it's not supposed to. You still have to be responsible for your clumsiness!

I'm very glad I bought this, and would recommend it to all laptop owners.

I got this laptop sleeve for my friend......Logitech products are always quality plus a logitech wireless mouse free, the deal was just too good....The sleeve is really good, nice padding on both sides and two compartments on the front which are very handy for keeping ipods, headphones etc. The only thing is it fits the 14" dell inspiron very loosely but it is perfect for a 15"laptop. So if you want a sleeve for a 14" laptop and you like compact fitting, you would want to go with a smaller sized sleeve. For 15" laptops, trust me , you won't find a better product than this.

Notebook sleeve fit my 15.6" older Toshiba easily.

It seems well constructed and the 2 outside zipper pockets provide room for small accessories like a mouse (power supply is a tight fit).

I have not tested the mouse yet but it looks like a decent wireless mouse which makes this a good value.

I bought this for 14 dlls, what a deal Amazon! pretty good sleeve and great mouse.

I have an Asus N53 laptop, 15.6", the sleeve fits PERFECTLY, i was in doubt because in the title of the product says 15.4", but i made the right choice after all, the pockets are fine, I can take with me the AC adapter, power cord and the mouse (the ac adapter of my laptop is very big), it feels a little tight but is not a problem for me. The mouse it's pretty comfortable and ergonomic, the only thing is the usb is a little bit large but for the price i paid i can live perfectly with it.

Ogio Metro II Laptop/Tablet Backpack

Ogio Metro II Laptop/Tablet BackpackNote: The bag I purchased had a flaw where the foam that separates the latop compartment and the main compartment was somehow crinkled and folded instead of being completely flat. However amazon support has been great in assisting me with a return. I am currently looking for another bag.

This is my first review and I don't usually write one, but since this product had none I felt that people should have more information.

I have a regular Targus Laptop bag from 2004 that is just now starting to fall apart so I have been searching for weeks for a replacement. However, since I am back in school and I now have a tablet, I needed something where I can have all my stuff in a central location without needing to carry multiple bags which is what I am currently doing.

This bag is about 90% perfect, so depending on your needs this would be a great bag to purchase. I am not going to go into too much detail because if you go to the Ogio website it has more information and a video describing the various components and size. My review below is with all the items below inside the bag at the same time.

Although not much, here is everything I fit in my bag at one time... Be sure to read the cons below though:

1. Late 2007 model Mac Book Pro 17 inch.

2. Five Star Flex Hybrid NoteBinder, Customizable Cover, 1-Inch, Black (72409) w/ Avery Big Tab Insertable Plastic Dividers, 8-Tab Set, 1 Set (11901)

3. Network+ Guide to Networks (Networking)

4. CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals All-in-One Exam Guide (Exam FC0-U41)

5. 3x Western Digital My Passport 1 TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive WDBBEP0010BBK-NESN (Black) with 3 cords.

6. Some pencils and a hi-lighter.

Here are my personal pros and cons of the bag.

Pros:

1. Does not feel cheap. The outside material is rough and feels sturdy.

2. The overall bag is definitely not flimsy due to the material it is made from. If the bag is empty it maintains the same shape as in the picture. This is actually something I was looking for, cause I personally wouldn't feel protected if I can take the empty bag and crush it into a ball in my hands.

3. None of the zippers are plastic or rubber, they are made of some type of metal with some having a tough fabric pull strap attached to the metal.

4. The shoulder straps are also sturdy with a bit of padding on them. Not sure about other people, but for me it felt pretty comfortable while walking around to my classes with the bag being completely full.

5. The tablet pocket starts about an inch or two above the bottom of the bag, so the tablet should never touch the floor if you have the bag standing up.

6. There red felt lining the entire laptop compartment, the bottom front pocket, and the part of the tablet pocket facing towards the tablet.

7. The power cable pocket on the left, fit my macbook pro plug with the cord extender attached with the cable loose. It didn't look like it would fit if I rolled the cable up, so I just zipped up both side half way and shoved the plug in. It worked for me since I don't usually roll up my plug any way.

Cons:

1. The top and most important flaw I personally found was the lack of padding. Mainly because one of the major selling points is "iFom integrated foam panels." Which was supposed to be so amazing that they made it sound all fancy. Don't get me wrong, there is foam in various parts of the bag such as:

A. the straps

B. the part between the laptop compartment and your back

C. the part between the laptop compartment and the main compartment.

D. There is some foam on the part that covers the main compartment. It is also what helps the bag maintain the shape.

E. All the outside pockets also have a very thin layer of foam.

However:

A. The foam between the laptop and your back, although a bit thick it still sort of feels like your back might push into your laptop too much applying pressure to it without much absorption. A concern for me as I usually park far, and wouldn't feel safe running in the rain cause of the pressure my back might apply.

B. The the foam between the laptop compartment on the main compartment is sort of thin. It is thin enough that if you pinch the bag with one finger in the main compartment and one finger in the laptop compartment that you can feel your fingernails completely touch each other.

C. The bottom of the bag doesn't have much padding. When standing the bag on the floor there seems to be a bit of padding between the laptop and the floor but it is sort of weird as it seems to happen because the padding sort of folds under the bag when standing it up. I am not sure if that is by design though. In either case, it could definitively use a lot more padding on the bottom to better protect the laptop and provide some sort of shock absorption.

2. Tablet Compartment: I wouldn't recommend putting a tablet in there without a case.

A. There is no foam or padding between your tablet and all the other items in your main compartment. This disappointed me because the description said "Padded iPad/tablet/e-reader pocket" on their website.

B. The tablet, which in my case is the IPAD3, sticks out almost 2 inches from the compartment. If I didn't have a case, there is the possibility of my books or binders rubbing against the screen.

C. There is felt lining behind the tablet pocket in case you wanted to turn the tablet around so that the screen faces the foam padding between the laptop compartment and the main compartment.

3. Not really a good bag if you need to carry a lot of books and notebooks for school in addition to a laptop and tablet because it becomes a tight fit.

With a macbook pro, 1 Pad3, 2xBooks(listed above), the binder listed above that in my case is about 1 inch thick with my stuff, there really wasn't any room to fit anything else in the main compartment of the bag. The fit is so tight, that sometimes I need to take the books and binder out and place it in one at a time while making sure to slide it in a way that it will both fit and not mess up my paperback.

4. Paperback books, easily get the bottom of the books bent when not slowly placed in.(Not a major flaw and most bags probably have this, but I wanted to state it for reference).

Conclusion:

I was expecting them to have more protection and their "iFom" technology in places that mattered most. Especially since the main purpose of the bag is marketed to support a Laptop, Tablet, and books. If the official price was a little cheaper and the bag had a few more pockets/compartments, I would bump up the rating to 4 instantly. The bag however, in my opinion can never be a 5 until they better protect the areas that the backpack is marketed for which are both Laptops and Tablets.

Needs more protection and foam in places such as:

1. between your back and the laptop compartment

2. between the laptop compartment and main compartment

3. the Tablet pocket between the tablet and all the other stuff in the compartment

4. And Most importantly the bottom of the bag!

If they ever come out with a Metro III that has more padding/protection in the areas listed above, doesn't expose an inch of the tablet in the tablet pocket, has about 3 more useful pockets, and has padding on the bottom of the bag then I would instantly buy it and post a 5 star review!

Some of the issues I had above, appear to possibly not be an issue with their more expensive models.

Good Ogio quality (maybe not quite as good as my old original Metro) and the padding is a bit skimpy. I was hoping it would fit my new laptop, but note quite. If it fits your pc you will be happy with it.

I have been looking for a backpack large enough for my 17" HP and it's not an easy task. Many bags SAY they fit 17" laptops but don't. However, this bag fits it beautifully and I can get my kindle in there too!. The zippers are on the heavy duty side and the fabric is strong. I like the colour & pattern; not just plain old black but not overly splashy either. Satisfied customer.

The makers of this backpack seem to have missed the point that this is a product for kids. And that kids will not be the most careful users of backpacks. Only a month after my 9-yeard-old son started taking this backpack to school, the zipper on the main compartment had fallen apart. The little pouches on both sides were torn, and holes on the sides -large enough for pencils and pens to fall out -had appeared. Needless to say, I was bitterly disappointed with the product. I have to admit that the backpack looked flimsy to me the minute I got it out of the box, but I dismissed my first impressions and swallowed the initial urge to return it. Well, I was wrong. Dear buyers, spare yourselves the misery and buy something better than this backpack.

This backpack is super cool, my 6 years old loved it but.... He always went back home from school with the zipper opened the seam. I put it back with a little effort but when We try to open the bag, it mis-seaming again because it is a cheap zipper. No, I would not buy this item again.

Saddleback Leather Waterbag Medium

Saddleback Leather Waterbag Medium, Dark Coffee BrownThis is my second SB leather bag, I have owned the overnight duffle for a while now. I bought it off their website directly, but the price here is the same and I decided to post a review here.

I decided to buy this one because, well, it looks so darn cool and I needed something a little bigger then the duffle, and I am tired of buying designer brand bags because the quality always seems weak and I always worry about scratches and tears, and that is a hassle I don't want anymore. Even before getting it I knew the quality would not disappoint given this was my second bag from them, but you can only really judge how nice something like this is when you get your little grubby paws on it. Oh my, it is sooooo nice, I got it this morning and already I am in the hotel room with it. It is very spacious, though it is considered an "overnight" bag, you can easily fit enough for 4 to 5 days in it. I got it along the medium accesorie case of the same color to use as necessaire bag and it is a perfect match and fit.

So, it is spacious, but it is also versatile, you can use it in two load sizes thanks to the included extra liner, one full size and one smaller. You can carry the bag as a shoulder bag using the strap, by it's handle or as a backpack. The closing system not only is very functional, practical and very effective, but it looks really nice too. is it an attention getter? You bet it is, and you know you want it to be!! People will look, people will envy and people will want it (I got two "very nice bag" kind of compliments right away in the hotel lobby alone)!! This bag will be at home in a rough camping trip or in any of the fancy hotels I stay at sometimes , it just is the perfect combination of rugged with stylish. The only sub 10 score, maybe an 8, for me might be the weight, it is a little heavy, but hey you can't build a tank out of tin foil, so I gladly compromise. For the rest, quality, built, style, color, it is a clean sweep of 10s.

The price...yes it is a little steep no way around that but, you really get what you pay for. I have owned some bags from designer brands like RL and this is as, or more, stylish and of far far superior quality in similar price range.

Okay, I admit that I love leather. And have owned many other leather and leather/canvas bags in the past. And...discarded all of them due to damaged zippers that could not be reasonably repaired. I bought this bag because it's leather, has no zippers or snaps, and has no parts that could possibly be damaged beyond my own ability to repair. I watched the video and thought the versatility was cool. I figured I'd probably never use most of the features in the video, but how wrong I was.

But, now that I've actually used this bag, almost every time I use it, I find new features I hadn't realized existed. Things like what do I do with THIS or THAT strap when I don't use it and suddenly you find a belt keeper you didn't know was there. Or the "false bottom"...yes, there is a space under the liner to put whatever. Or the ability to make this bag as small as a gym duffle bag or as large as a small suitcase in seconds. Yes, it's expensive, but I paid hefty sums for many of my other leather bags too and they are all now history. This bag will likely outlive me. And my heirs WILL fight over it.

Having worked with leather myself, I am greatly impressed with the quality of the leather as well as the craftsmanship and especially the unique design features.

This bag is durable, versatile, and will last forever. A little heavy, but you have to expect that with this quality of leather.

I love the SBL Waterbag. I have the Medium but they also make a small and a large. The large would be nice for the extra space but personally I think the meduim is best since it fits in overhead compartments as carry-on and it is already pretty darn heavy when fully packed. Large might be just to much if you have to carry it much.

It is very versatile. I almost bought the SBL duffle but the waterbag is better in that you can adjust it to different sized loads. Plus it's lighter than the duffle. And it looks awesome. No one else has a bag that looks like this.

The only thing I don't like is that if you stuff it too full you can see the contents just under the handles. However, it looks like they fixed that with the current version that has an extra leather flap.

The bag comes with 2 different liners but I tend to use no liner (there still is a semi-rigid bottom) to save weight and I like the looks better. The liner may make it a little easier to pack by keeping the sides open but I have not had a problem packing. I may use the liners more, at least the smaller one, as the bag breaks in and becomes softer.

Most of the time I use the bag for road trips so I just use the middle strap through the built in handles and do not use the detachable handle at all. It is very confortable to carry and looks best in this configuration IMO. When flying I use all 3 straps for security and add the handle (I do, however, remove the shoulder strap and sometimes the handle when checking the bag).

I haven't used the waterbag in backpack mode but I have seen pictures on FB of a guy who hiked one up Kilamanjaro!.

1 star removed because of the price, but then again it will last a lifetime. Wish I had bought this when I was much younger (plus it would look even better by now).

Seriously cool product! I waited to write a review until I had the chance to fully use this awesome bag (took a 6 day trip). Opted for the water-bag versus the overnight duffel, and I'm glad I did! The water-bag seems to hold enough for a weeks worth of clothing for me. Quality, there's nothing better, truly a product that lives up to the hype. Can't tell you how many compliments I received -not that, that matters to me, just something of enough quality and uniqueness that it draws the eye and interest to itself. I purchased the backpack at the same time and there really aren't words for the impressive design and sturdiness that Saddleback offers, you won't find anything of true comparison.

There are many bags that will work for a long weekend and do it cheaper BUT none are cooler. Bag is a stand out and very unique. I also own the briefcase. Awesome brand, image, and products.

Britto Collection by Heys USA Landscape Flowers 30" Spinner Case

BRITTO by HEYS USA Landscape/Flowers 26 in. Spinner CaseI did not use it yet on a trip. The case is solid and I am sure I will see it on the

luggage carousel. It is very pretty. I hope nobody steals it. My feeling is that there

is less room inside than with a canvas suitcase which has some give room. On the other

hand, the zipper on my canvas suitcase was ready to break. This has a very solid zipper

and will not break. Also plastic containers inside are very handy for liquids since you

cannot bring them on you carry ons. Last time I lost a good tube of suntan lotion to

the TSA agent. The lock is approved by the TSA agents which is good. The handle retracts

easily and it seems to roll well. They give you a nice cotton sack to store the case so it

will not collect dust. On the whole, I think it was worth the money because it is very

pretty and solid. If it had more room inside, I would have given it a 5.

AmeriBag Healthy Back Bag Micro-Fiber Small

AmeriBag Small Classic Microfiber Healthy Back Bag,Taupe, one sizeI purchased my Microfiber Healthy Back Bag to use while my nylon one was being repaired under warranty (the key clip broke). Although the nylon one has been returned to me, I haven't bothered to switch back to it. The microfiber bag is lighter weight and seems to be a little tougher more difficult to scar on the exterior. I think it's worth the extra cost to get the microfiber bag based on weight and durability.

This is the 2nd one of these that I've owned. They're very durable & sturdy! The first one I had, I used for over 6 years every day. OK so I'm not the type who changes bags w/ every outfit. Only reason I bought a new one is because I machine washed the 1st one a couple of times & it was (finally) starting to look a little faded. It's such a practical shape & size w/o being bulky or distracting. The way it hangs & expands is deceptively accommodating. I've used it on travel & stuffed lots of snacks in it for the movies & probably fit as much in it as someone else might put into a small backpack. I like the microfiber version because it's lighter than what I assume the leather would be and I think the fabric ones might attract & show a little more dirt. You can view all the different styles on the Ameribag.com website. I would've bought the special edition w/ the black-on-black embroidered "I Love my Life" on it but it was quite a bit more ($75). One thing I noticed w/ this new bag is that it has a slightly different strap buckle. Holds better than the 1st one, which tended to slide. I would secure it w/ large safety pin on the inside of the strap near the bottom & it was barely noticeable. The original one also came w/ a wrap-around shoulder pad that they apparently don't include on this newer one. I took it off the old one & snapped it onto the strap of the new one. And same like I did on the first one, I carefully removed the 2 plastic squares of the hook-side of the Velcro patches, which tended to be 'scratchy' when pulling my hand in & out of the side pockets. All in all a great practical bag!

I received my third Ameribag Healthy Back Bag promptly from Amazon this afternoon. These bags really do take the pressure off your back, and the straps have a pebbled surface which keeps them on your shoulder. There are two generous outside pockets, one zippered and one with a Velcro flap. The zippered outside pocket has another Velcro-fastened pocket just behind it for stashing receipts, tickets, and such. I've never lost an item from an Ameribag Healthy Back Bag. My pocket umbrella fits in the long, narrow pocket on the curved outside of the bag.

The silver lining helps me locate everything inside the bag, so I don't lose things at the bottom. Just inside the bag, adjacent to the zipper is a short, elastic key leash, so I always know where my keys are. I slip my cellphone into the handy small pocket and can carry a small water bottle in the long, narrow pocket at the back of the bag. There are two large slip pockets, narrow ones for pens, and a zippered one for a wallet and/or credit card carrier. There's plenty of room for a tablet and/or Kindle, too. My big sunglass case AND regular glasses case will fit in the bag along with a small camera in its case. I can stash coupons and/or a guidebook into the outer pocket. I sometimes stuff in a couple of "Envirosacs" to grocery shop. The strap can be lengthened to carry in front of you or across your body as well as over your shoulder.

While Healthy Back Bags may not be the height of fashion, they are not hard on the eyes and are wonderfully functional bags for everyday use and travel. They are also big enough to hold a little bag if you want to leave this one locked up someplace as you go out. I got the black microfiber one this time, and it is very attractive and smooth. I have a distressed nylon one, too, and a medium size (which to me is huge!) which I take on longer day trips where I might be putting my sweater, souvenirs, and books when traveling. I've washed them on the delicate cycle or simply spot cleaned my others, and they've stayed fresh-looking. I love designer bags and own a couple of them, but for comfort and functionality, you cannot beat these bags! They are terrific!

I saw this bag at the Relax the Back Store and was pleased to find that Amazon had them at a much better price so I was able to get two (black, brown) for the price of "one." Unfortunately, months later, I find that the material is very hard to clean. Something as simple as a sunblock smear doesn't rinse or wash out in the machine. My bags, even after washing, now carry every stain, smear and sweaty mark they've managed to acquire in the past few months. I find this kind of strange but then I've never had a microfiber bag before. I'll keep washing them and hoping they bounce back to their original clean form but I'm wondering if I should have saved up for the leather versions.

Material: 2-3 stars

Bag: 5 stars

The bag itself is really terrific. I love the pockets. It is really comfortable on back surprisingly and I can switch from side to side if one side hurts. It's amazing how much I can stuff inside of it and the way it is organize inside means that I can FINALLY stay organized, too.

Justice League with Batman, Superman, Green Lantern and Flash 16" Backpack

Justice League with Batman, Superman, Green Lantern and Flash 16' BackpackNice bookbag. Held up nicely. My son of course loved the character and the quality was BETTER than I expected!

Backpack was adored by my grandson, he is in preschool and loves super heroes so it was very appropriate for him. It is still hanging in there after being thrown in the car, cubbie and bedroom floor. It seems to be holding up very well. Yes I would recommend it.

Mobile Edge ScanFast Checkpoint & ECO Friendly Backpack - 17.3"

Mobile Edge MESFBP ScanFast BackpackThis is one of the very few TSA approved Laptop bags that allow you pass airport security quickly. You just open a zipper and the bag flaps open with one part holding the Laptop only and the other part holding whatever you put in the other compartments. It's easy to handle and saves indeed some hassle at the airport.

The downside of this bag is its inefficinet space use. It's a very large backpack (16 x 2 x 11.5 inches) and reserves unnecessarily ample space (about 16 x 1.5 x 11.5 inches) for the Laptop compartment. You are not allowed, however, to put anything else there, so a lot of space is lost. That's a pity because MobileEdge could have designed the Laptop compartment much slimmer which would have left more space for books, paper etc.

I also miss a strap at each side that support the zipper when your backpack is really stuffed.

This backpack is great. I have my 17 inch MacBook Pro inside a neoprene sleeve for extra protection (probably overkill) and it fits perfectly inside the computer pouch of the backpack. Zip it open and the pack lays flat on the xray belt at the airport. No hassles from the airport security and no more removing the computer from the bag. That in itself pays for this bag. One security agent thought I was removing my computer as I was unzipping it and when I just laid it flat he immediately recognized the symbol on the bag and the big letters "Checkpoint Friendly" on the pouch. We both chatted about the fact that you don't have the aggravation of removing the computer anymore. There are enough pockets to load all your other stuff as well. I tend to take along more than I really need. Fits easily into the overhead or under the seat. The material is strong and it carries comfortably well.

After a trial of trying to pack this with the items I would typically take on a short business trip, I returned this. Despite it being a large backpack, I couldn't find room for travel items.

Some of the pictures don't match the bag I got--on close examinations, it looks like two different bags are shown in the photos in the product description. The photo shows a nice compartment for pens, &c.--the bag I got has a compartment but it doesn't open as far as shown, only has a couple of loops for pens or pencils off to the side, and the loops are too tight to hold anything thicker than a cross pen.

The two small compartments on the back are very flat, and won't hold anything very bulky like noise cancelling headphones or a laptop charger brick. Every other compartment is deep, with no internal divisions to prevent everything in them from falling to the bottom.

Pros: It will hold a large laptop, and let you unzip it and lay flat to run through an airport checkpoint.

Cons: It won't hold much else. I tried finding room for the other things I would travel with for an overnight trip: laptop charger, phone, media player, noise canceling headphones, some magazines, water bottle, a granola bar, spare pen, a baggy with toothpaste, &c. I quickly ran out of room. I could have crammed everything into one of the deep compartments, but it would have all fallen to the bottom and been difficult to get at. Since I have a small laptop--I like to travel light--the space in the laptop compartment was mostly wasted. There's no internal compartmentation in there to put anything else in with it.

It seemed to be fairly sturdy construction. Might be okay for a student, carrying laptop and notebooks (but the lay flat feature is useless in that case.) It's just not very well thought out for a carry-on or overnight bag, however.

This laptop backpack has lots of pockets for all of the accessories that must travel with a computer (power cords, mouse, etc.). The bag itself is a little larger than I would have expected but it does have to fit my 17" laptop. It is well padded. It lays flat for being x-rayed with the use of a single zipper. I would recommend this bag.

Brenthaven Expandable Trek Backpack for Notebooks up to 15.4"

Brenthaven Expandable Trek Backpack for Notebooks up to 15.4'Summary

-------

Brenthaven has a reputation for making tough laptop bags that do a good job protecting their contents. The Expandable Trek is new to the Brenthaven lineup.

Real-World Capacity

-------------------

I can fit about 4 small books (each about 9"H x 6"W x 3/4"D) into the expandable pouch. The main compartment holds my 14" widescreen laptop and a large folder that measures 12"H x 10"W x 2.5"D.

Pros

----

1. TONS of useful compartments for storing various things like keys, water bottles, writing implements, etc.

2. The expandable pouch is very useful.

3. Removable mesh pocket looks good, is functional, and well-designed.

3. The bag is has a nice appearance overall.

4. Brenthaven's not quite as well known as, say, Targus, so the bag is less likely to be identified as a laptop bag and hence somewhat less likely to be stolen. (Okay, so that's speculation on my part...) =P

5. Sturdy, well-padded straps with sternum clip

6. Tough rubberized handle up top.

7. Bag stands upright with or without a laptop inside.

8. Felt lined pouch is a nice touch. Lets you store delicate stuff like PDAs, bluetooth headsets, sunglasses.

Cons

----

1. The U-shaped pouch that holds pencils and pens is awkward to open, particularly if approaching the bag from above.

2. Sternum strap often falls off from the straps to which it attaches.

3. A bit more storage space would've been nice.

4. Padding for laptop feels thin in places. The 1.5" padding is only at the bottom. Back has about 1/2" foam and front is about 1/4". Sides really don't have much protection. It's too bad Brenthaven didn't implement the the CORE protection system with this bag.

Overall

-------

A capable, versatile and attractive (albeit very masculine-looking) bag that's worth the money. Improvements in padding and more colors/styles would make it the perfect laptop backpack.

Update (6/4/06)

---------------

One side of the rubberized handle separated from the rest of the bag. Brenthaven promptly issued me a RA (Return Authorization) number. I returned the bag. They replaced it not with a repaired bag, but a brand new bag. In this transaction and in others, Brenthaven's customer support has proven to be excellent.

Also, the sternum clip on the replacement bag seems sturdier and less likely to fall off than the first.

3/11/08

-------

The handle broke off again, about six months ago. I contacted Brenthaven, and they immediately sent me an RMA. Their support has been very, very good. But I decided to hold on to the bag. While I do miss the handle sometimes, it's still a great bag with out it.

This bag is tight, as in it holds everything tight to the body. I though at first it may be too small for books and my mac but there is room for a mac 15", notebooks, I have gotten up-to three books in, and everything else I need for school. So because it is held close and tight to your back it does not feel like there is a bus on your back. This back is the one to get I PROMISE!!!!!

I'm 5'2" and an install tech for a computer company. I spend lots of time traveling and frequently have 15-25 lbs in my backpack between my computer, spare parts for customer machines and tools. I bought this bag because a friend with a similar job role told me he swore by Brenthavens and that the increase in comfort and durability were well worth the price. I was sold when he told me his bag was 3 years old, it still looks new.

The bag delivers on every promise they made. It's voluminous, and pocket-y which means everything has a place and I can always find the right tool when I need it. No more digging around in 1 of 2 giant pockets and hoping I find a socket or allen wrench; they all have their own little pockets and I always know where to go to find them.

The expandable pocket does make the bag huge, but accommodates food and other amenities, such that when I am traveling for work I need only this bag for a carry on, I don't need a separate bag for personal items. Ditto for long days at customer sites. I can bring everything I think I might need along with me and don't have to sacrifice space or leave anything behind.

I haven't started school so I haven't used it too much, but the few times I have, its been amazing. I got this so I can bike to school with all my stuff and it holds everything--my mac, books, and more. The only thing against it is the fact that its huge and you need a sleeve for your laptop for some protection. Otherwise, I've loved it so far.

Pros:

Slim profile when not expanded; expands to a really big size when you need the extra room.

Lots of storage areas: space for phones, ipods, power supplies, pens, glasses, widescreen laptop, keys, etc.

Great straps. Durable construction (except for zippers). Nice handle.

Cons:

Zippers aren't the big, durable self-healing zippers that you find on other Brenthaven bags. Time will tell whether this is an issue.

I'd prefer a more subdued color scheme, like black or black/grey. More a taste thing.
