Dakine 29-Litre 101 Pack

Dakine makes good stuff. They have a lifetime warranty, too, so they stand behind their product. I got this for school and every day life, mainly due to the laptop compartment AND tablet pocket. It looks pretty slick, too. Only thing i don't like is the organizer panel. They used to be a lot better. It's a good-sized area, but they mash everything together, and the pen slots are short. I like something substantial, as weird as that might sound. It also makes it bulky with the way they layered the pen slots in front of the second fleece-lined pocket. There's enough room where they can space things out, so I wish they would. They also don't fleece-line the side zipper pocket. That used to be a nice electronics pocket, but not really anymore. Otherwise, it's a good bag: sturdy, spacious, stylish. Not too shabby.

After four years with my Jansport backpack, I was hesitant to part ways with my old pal, but he had too many rips to repair and it felt like the right time to move on. Enter: Dakine 101.

When I first received this bag, it looked pretty big, especially compared to my last pack. I started to stuff it with all sorts of things and when I put it on my back, it actually looks normal-sized.

Bag is used as my everyday bag, it has a lot of pockets and does a great job holding all my stuff. It does feel a little on the cheap side as far as material and stiching. I have a small tear by one of the zippers, but this bag can take a beating. Overall I am pleased.

CA state law says you can't listen to headphones while bike riding unless you use only one ear bud. That just didn't fly with me so I bought this backpack. I chose this backpack because it's the only one that has 2 speakers. Music has been recorded in stereo (2 channels) since the 1960's so I don't understand why they make so many one-speaker devices. I guess most people don't care. Anyways, I'm very happy with my purchase. The backpack itself is nice and compact, perfect for bike riding, but it surprisingly fits a lot of stuff. I rode to the store and I was able to fit a loaf of bread, a half gallon of almond milk, a bag salad, and a half dozen eggs no problem (glad i didn't crash with the eggs). As far as the audio, this thing sounds pretty good for what it is. It will really bump when you're inside. When I'm outside cycling I have to turn my ipod up a little more due to road noise. You control the volume using your own mp3 player, there is no volume control on the backpack amp, it's defaulted at full volume which I like (who wants to mess with 2 volume controls when you're out having fun?) The little amp is in the small pocket and it looks like a little cd player. It's powered by 4 AA's and it shines a blue LED when powered on. An LED on the outside would've been nice since I never remember to turn it off. The batteries do last a while but as they drain the sound quality gets worse and worse. The amp is just not pumping out enough wattage to drive those speakers resulting in a floppy muddy sound. So whatever you do, always remember to turn the amp off when you're finished using it or you'll be cursing on your way to the battery store. I'm able to get 2-3 hours of loud listening in before this happens though but I NEVER remember to turn it off so it might even get more. I recommend this backpack for sure.

Duffel offers a lot of room for international travel. I use it even without a bow. I would replace the Badlands logo since mine fell-off with international baggage handling. Further, the logo is heavy and when weight counts the logo was using up my weight alotment with the airlines.

She sent a new bag in the mail right away, and made my return of the old bag super-easy. The zippers on the new bag also feel stiff, but I'm thinking maybe they'll ease up with more use. Hoping the straps on this one hold up. If they do, then I'd add another star to bring it up to 4. Would have 5 but for the little things noted below (and the first one breaking -but that can happen).

ORIGINAL POST -I purchased a Glo Bag on Amazon a few weeks ago. When it arrived, the zippers felt stiff, as if they're going to break easily, and almost immediately all the small tabs that are attached to the zipper pulls came off. No big deal on those. They're non-functional anyway. But this morning the entire strap that attaches the backpack straps to the body of the bag broke off. I have used the bag NO MORE THAN FIVE TIMES so far. And by so far, I guess I mean ever, since the bag is now useless. What gives (other than the straps on a Glo Bag)? I read good things about this product. Not sure if I'm just having an unusually bad experience, but the one I received is cheap and poorly made. (Side notes -I also agree with another reviewer who mentioned that small items fall from the middle shelf to the bottom around the edges, but that is mostly just a minor annoyance. One other annoyance that I wouldn't have bothered to write about had the bag not broken this morning is that the ribbing along the edges of the bag gets caught on the edges of my gym locker, which makes it very hard to get the bag into and out of the locker. I'm sure it's challenging to make a bag that's as big as possible while at the same time small enough to fit standard gym lockers, but I'm not sure they've gotten the formula quite right yet.)

If you frequent the gym you need this bag. I am an organization freak and love how everything has it's place. I know where everything is in this bag, in my other bag everything was a jumbled mess. It really helps save on time too when getting ready. My only complaint was that there was a stitching issue on the mesh pocket. The mesh broke out of the stitching the first time I zipped it up, but since I know how to run a needle and thread I fixed it right away. I would have sent it back and exchanged it for a new one, but I needed a new bag ASAP. A little piece of advice is buy the cosmetics bag with it. It seems expensive (an extra $25) but it is worth it I assure you!

This appears to be a nice product but it was WAY too small for my dog. I purchased the medium size for my rottie healer (she's about 45 pounds) and this was sized more for a teacup chiwawa or something. Definitely wasn't going to work for me so I will be returing it. It seemed like it was decently made and the quality of the materiel was nice if you have a little puppy.

This harness appears much larger on line then it really is...I was unable to use it as it was way too small for my dog. :(

I was not happy with this lunch bag at all. The minute I opened the box I could see that it was made from cheap quality materials. And it was way smaller than I was expecting it to be. I could have lived with it as long as it did the jobbut it didn't. I had the bag 6 days and the zipper broke! Lewis N. Clark Tsa Lockdown Triple Security Cable Lock

I was rather disappointed, as I'm in the middle of a trip overseas and was hoping to be able to contact the vendor without writing a review, to see if the problem can be corrected. Unfortunately, it does not appear that Amazon offers this service, so I am reduced to writing this review.

I have been traveling for about 5 weeks and the three locks that I purchased were working perfectly until today, on a trip where I had just taken two of them along. I was flying from Munich to Barcelona and was asked by security to open my carry on case, which was locked. I was able to unlock it, and lock one of the loops, but the other loop would not lock. When I arrived in Barcelona, got my luggage and went to the Tourist Office at the airport, I had to open my carry on as my hotel information was locked inside. Though I had the correct combination, the lock would not open. The Tourist Office then sent me to Customs, which directed me to another Terminal, where no one could help, and I finally returned to the original terminal and went to the Air Berlin Information Desk for help. He informed me that if I had known the lock was defective BEFORE I came through the arrivals gate, one of the personnel there could have opened it; but once through the arrivals gate, you can not go back. I explained my desperate need, as I had been running around for over an hour and did not even have the address of my guest house, as it was locked inside the case. The man was good enough to offer to cut the lock which he did, surprisingly with an ordinary pair of scissors.

Now I am torn about using the remaining two locks, wondering if they will fail and again leave me running around strange airports for hours. . I left one lock behind in the Munich apartment where I am staying and am left with only one working lock and the fear that the combination will fail again. I will have to buy another lock on the market here.

This is extremely disappointing and has colored my view of these locks ordinary travel and after 5 weeks one suddenly doesn't work? I had read a review of someone who had this same experience, but not in the middle of a trip.

I am both disappointed in the failure of the lock and then concerned that an ordinary pair of scissors can cut through the wire loop.

I would appreciate hearing from the vendor about this.

UPDATE: 16 days later and on a Sunday, I'm getting ready to fly again on Monday. The second of the three locks has now failed. It won't lock on one side, and following the lead of the first failed lock, it will completely fail. So here I am on a Sunday and flying out in the morning and another failed locked. 67% failure rate and it looks like I'll have to replace all three before this trip is done.

I'm a pilot for an airline that forces us to put our bags in the overhead bin with passenger bags, resulting in frequent stolen/mistakenly-taken bags. After the company refused to pay for my stolen laptop (taken when my bag was removed from the plane by a passenger), I bought several of these for myself and friends and have had no such theft since. The double loop configuration is perfect for our situation, and keeps the bag safe from all but the most determined thieves (determined enough to have gotten cable cutters through security, for instance). I'll post a pic to show how it works on the Embraer overhead bin.

One of the locks failed, by the way, and we had to have a TSA agent come to the plane with his key (007), which also failed to open the lock. We cut the lock off with a giant bolt cutter, and advised Amazon. The lock was replaced before we could even send the failed one back, and we've had no problem since. Kudos, Amazon.

I did not order this through Amazon but the lock is the same as the one I bought. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone. I purchased this about 2 months before my vacation. Tried it once, worked great. Went to try it out again, was frozen would not work at all! Contacted the company twice and they finally sent me another one. Worked fine. But like before, it froze the night before my trip. So I had no choice but to cut the lock off. What a waste of money this thing is. I didn't find it as flexible as I thought it would be either. The concept is good, but it sure needs some improvement. Not a happy camper!

Just a thought here... I love these locks and was surprised to see negative reviews. Then I remembered my FIRST use and want to share this experience.

Here is what happened to me the very first time I was putting the lock onto my suitcase. I did not realize that I slid the RESET side of the slider instead of the opposite side... That resets the combo to whatever I happened to have had in the dial. This only happens when the lock has been opened with the correct combo in the first place. Having opened one side as noted above, if you had happened to move the numbers, then hit the reset side -you would have changed the combination without realizing it! Now I am just very aware of what numbers are in the combo when I close it and stay away from that red RESET button!

One more thing... I believe that you must lock the "short loop" side through the zipper slider holes (what TSA might need to get at) and the longer loop to something permanant on your suitcase. That way, when TSA opens the lock and forgets to relock it, you still have your lock. If you use the "long loop" to lock the zippers sliders, I'm not sure TSA can unlock that side. (And even if they can, you don't want them to lest THEY hit that RESET slide!)

If someone is going to break in, they will find a way. (I've had several regular TSA locks totally smashed upon arrival.) I'm just glad to still have my lock attached to the bag with this one -I've lost several other TSA locks in the past with either not putting it back at all or forgetting to close and lock it! And I know it was TSA because in both missing lock cases, the TSA white sheet was in the bag!

Bright Ideas RBP1 Reflective Backpack

I bought this backpack for when I ride my scooter to work. I really like how reflective it is, yet it's not so overpowering that I look like a safety nut. It has reflective patches in all the right places, and it holds a lot of stuff. I like all the different zipped areas. I think if there was any downside, it would be that the zippers are a little hard to get at on the biggest portion of the backpack because of the fabric that overlaps that part. Otherwise, great backpack for the price.

The Bright Ideas RBP is an excellent product for anyone who rides motorcycles (especially government employees)! Finding a better alternative for a better price would definitely be a challenge. Its nice because the outside is black with reflective material in all the right places. Its also big enough to hold books, papers, a laptop, a tennis racquet, or even groceries! Its even got a belly strap not shown in the photo. If it came in other colors like blue or gray or had a cup holder on the side it would be perfect!! :)

Several years ago I bought this reflective Bright Ideas backpack for my husband, who rides his bicycle to work in the very early morning hours when it's often still dark (5:20 a.m.), to keep him as safe as possible. The backpack has held up really well, and so have its reflective properties. We love it! I wanted to get one for me in bright yellow, but you no longer carry that color or any color other than black. Also, at the time I wanted to order it, you were temporarily out of stock. So how are my husband and I going to keep our backpacks apart if our backpacks are both black? I ordered this for my 13 inch macbook air, I ordered them at the same time and the computer has yet to arrive. However the case seems a little on the big side for a 13 inch computer. Also I thought that the case would be more of a white and it turns out to be more of a newsprint color. Both of these are minor flaws that do not make me want to return it, I'm sure once my computer arrives and I can see the sizes together I will be able to make a better judgement.

HP 16 Inch Laptop Sleeve - Black and Blue

A sleeve should provide at least some degree of cushion or protection. This sleeve is super skinny and provide very little protection. However, it does help to protect the shell of the laptop from scratches etc. but you'll still need to buy a case with some padding to protect the laptop otherwise.

This case was pretty nice quality, but it is not a 16 inch case as it claims. It might be able to fit a 15.6 inch tightly, but I'm not sure. My 16 inch laptop did not fit in it but the case was still nice.

I bought this case for a 15.6 inch Toshiba Satellite. My laptop fits into this case with a little room to spare. It is a sleeve, so yes, prepare for it to be a thin case, that's the point. The blue trimming is a darker blue than the picture makes it out to be, more of a dark royal blue (I'd hope it was more of a sky blue like the picture). I was pleasantly surprised by this backpack. It's great for day to day use if you're carrying clothes or other light loads around. The zipper in the back is especially helpful and was an addition I wish was on more back packs. The pack itself has plenty of pockets, and great space inside, the main problem is when you need to put more than about 7 pounds in it. The first time I really loaded it down, it was fine. The second, I noticed a small tear, but thought nothing lf it. Now I have a fist sized hole where the fabric has pulled apart from the stress of carying some of the weight I was putting in the pack. Thus backpack soooo did not meet expectations. In less the two weeks, there is an irreparable tear a the seam of the outside pocket. Good looking backpack but it won't last long at this rate. Save your money.

Ful Double Take Wheeled Luggage

I bought this pair because I never check luggage on flights. You are allowed two pieces of carry on and these two work great for that. There is plenty of room for everything you need split between the two pieces for an extended trip. I like the fact that I can zip off backpack when I am day tripping and haul all that I need including my laptop. Everything is well made with a lot of quality put into the pieces. When wheeling through an airport once with the two pieces zippered together, a lady said, you won't be able to take that on the plane (because together, it looks too big), so I showed her how it unzips and you have your two allowed pieces. Very cool luggage and it looks great too.
