My husband had one of these in black and it survived 5 years of abuse. The separate pouch for shoes is really helpful and the external water bottle holder come in very handy. I bought him a replacement for his birthday. Great product.Read Best Reviews of High Sierra Water Bottle Sport Duffel Here
Updated 2013-02-09: I contacted High Sierra shortly after writing the original review. A new bag arrived after a few weeks. The replacement has held up well since, and the zipper is still attached. I'm giving it 4 stars (up from 3 originally) as a result. Maybe I just got unlucky the first time. Either way, High Sierra did the right thing.Original Title: Good while it lasted
Bought one of these in a retail travel store. The 'U' shape opening makes it very easy to access the main compartment and get things in/out. Mine saw light duty ~3x week as a gym bag after work and the roughly monthly weekend trip. The zipper came off in less than a year which was very disapppointing. Otherwise, the bag held up very well. The Sport Duffel Met my expectations, you may need something bigger, but if you are well organized, will have no problem, The Duffel should come with a hook on a top handle, which initially saw no use, but gently place a hook for keys is wonderful place.....it is comfortable to transport the three alternatives to handle, highly recommended, good product

Swiss Gear SA1176 Black Backpack
The bag itself has three compartments: 2 in the front and 1 large compartment in the middle. The padding in the back is very comfortable but I noticed after 1 day of use the threads of the padding starts to stick up and look un-new.
The main compartment can fit one 1-inch binder, and around 4 books, in addition two pencil cases. There's two side pockets on each side, which you could probably put your umbrellas, water bottles, etc.
The actual product actually looks better (in my opinion, at least) when you see it. The cement gray isn't as distinct as it is online, and consequently the gray makes the bookbag not as dull, but not strange in the least.

Attractive in the grey/black, and resonably well made, considering the price I got it for. As noted in the description, this isn't specifically made for laptops (no internal sleeve), but it can certainly hold one.Two cons....the bottom of the backpack isn't padded, and the padding in the shoulder straps sounds crunchy, so they may wear out over time.
Happy with what I got it for, but had I paid more, it would probably be a 3 star review.

First, I was surprised by how fast Amazon shipped the item. I received this package 2 days after ordering it. I was very sceptical with the size of the backpack thinking it was going to be too small. The backpack is big. Lots of things you can put in. It looks real good in black and grey with the red emblem at the top. The material feels strong. Overall, this backpack is worth the money.Want Swiss Gear SA1176 Black Backpack Discount?
Bought this to replace a Swiss Gear pack in use for three years. Not because it needs replacing, but because I would be lost without one. Great sturdy pack whether carrying Laptop and books or two gallons of milk, and a few extras.Just keeps on a trucking. I ride buses so this is a great size and usefulness.

Buy Everki Lunar Laptop Bag - Briefcase, Fits up to 18.4-Inch (EKB417BK18) Now
I purchased this laptop bag about a month ago and so far I have been very satisfied. At first I was surprised how flexible the bag as a whole is, since other laptop bags I've used in the past have been rather rigid, but it seems to have plenty of padding to protect the large laptop computers it is intended for. The interior is lined with a soft, bright orange material that is very gentle on the contents of the bag and also makes it easy to see the contents in poor lighting conditions. It has numerous compartments, some of which are closed by velcro and others with high quality zippers. The back velcro compartment is large enough to fit my leather portfolio pad. The shoulder strap is sturdy and well designed -it does not cause the discomfort I have experienced with other laptop bags in the past, and it does not twist under load. Most importantly, unlike previous reviewers the bag I received was exactly the bag described and shown in the product description. It seems whatever issue they had with distribution has been resolved.

Beware, I ordered this laptop bag based on a review on the Everki site that reported it fit the asus G73 with room to spare. Well, the bag I received was a completely different bag from the one in the pictures here, and the pictures/video on the Everki site. The bag I received is a smaller, completely different design. The packaging did indeed have the product id EKB417BK18... but like I said the product I received and the one shown here have little in common. I've already set up a return for a refund... Trouble is I really do want this bag, just the correct one.. not whatever the heck it is they sent me.Want Everki Lunar Laptop Bag - Briefcase, Fits up to 18.4-Inch (EKB417BK18) Discount?
We bought this for our 17.3" Boxx mobile workstation. It's sized for an 18" laptop, but it's not thick enough for the ridiculous power brick. We'd also like to pack our spare battery. And we have to have an external mouse and a couple of hard drives, a few pens, and the cables to plug everything in. Basically everything fits, including our Intuos4 tablet in the pocket I think was made for paperwork, except for the power brick and the spare battery. Once we put the brick in the pocket that appears to be made for such things, it barely zips. If we can force it closed, the bag is all misshapen. The brick doesn't fit anywhere else, and finding a bag big enough for a true mobile workstation is a real pain, especially if you are in a design-related field and need it to look nice.In summary, I like the style of the bag and other bags in the line, but sadly, it is too small for my purposes. If you're carrying around a MacBook or something slimmer, it is probably the perfect bag for you.

As I sholder stap I find this WAY OVER PRICED FOR WHAT I RECEIVED!Great gym bag. Perfect size for 1 pair of shoes, socks, shorts, and shirt. Also fits nicely in a locker. However, the picture shows a shoulder strap. Mine did not come with the strap.

Briggs & Riley Verb Live Large Backpack
I've had bags where I've simply not used over 50% of the pockets because they serve no useful process. Not here. Every pocket has proven functionality.
Moreover, the ergonomics of the bag are fantastic. I transferred all the items from my previous bag into the Verb Live and was convinced I must have somehow lost something in the transition. The Briggs & Riley felt like a much lighter load. It's due to the way the bag is perched on your back. Instead of dragging your shoulders back, the weight is expertly distributed throughout the length of the bag. It's an elegant technical achievement by the design team.I bought this backpack just before I started my MBA program and it is in immaculate condition now, over 2 years later. Some might consider it expensive, but it is truly the best laptop backpack out there if you need a lot of space.
First of all, it has a padded laptop pouch immediately against the inside (against your back) which comfortably fit my 17" MacBook Pro. This was a key feature for me; most laptop bags don't fit a 17" and even if they do, it is a tight squeeze. The padding seems really good but I am paranoid and keep my machine in a neoprene sleeve as well and it still slides in and out of the laptop pouch in the backpack very easily.
Second, there remains an amazing amount of storage in the main compartment even after putting in your laptop on the other side of the divided pouch. I frequently carried a few hundred pages in various folders of handouts and readings to and from class with no problems. Sometimes I squeezed in a 500+ page textbook. You will likely exceed your carrying capacity before you exceed the space.
Final point on the main compartment: two nice half-depth elasticized pockets for sundries that you don't want to dig around for on the bottom of the backpack. I rarely use these, but sometimes I travel with my daughter and throw her ipod in one of them and it is a breeze to pull it out on the plane without digging deep in the pack.
There is also a middle compartment which is somewhat more shallow (still easily fits 8 1/2 x 11 paper) which is also subdivided into three vertical areas with lightly-padded dividers. In my case, it was a great place to put loose papers and/or magazines for flights. Also great for receipts or even ipad or kindle.
Just when you thought it was over...three more compartments to go!
The bottom compartment is amazingly spacious. I kept my power brick (admittedly the Mac has a comparatively small one), iPhone charger (cable plus wall plug), two USB cables, two ethernet cables (one standard 6 ft and one compact spring-loaded one), and my bluetooth headset wall charger inside it and still had room to spare. Plus the layout is perfect because it is like a large rectangle when you fully unzip it it is easy to find everything.
There is also what I consider the "utility" compartment on the most outside layer. I fit half a dozen pens, 50 or so business cards, a few key DVDs and CDs, mints, gum, advil, a couple of USB sticks, and a couple of other sundries all in this pouch without any feeling of being cramped. It has half a dozen little compartments and pouches within it to let you organize however you want.
Last but not least, there is the tiny outermost pocket which I never used but which appears to be designed for an iPod or something else tiny (I never used it because it doesn't seem quite padded enough).
Oh, and just for bonus, there is the headphone pass-through space from one of the interior pockets, the phone pouch on the strap, and even the unzippable side drink pocket. This is essentially the perfect backpack!
Lest you think I am an employee of the company or something, there is one drawback I have to point out:
The placement of the phone pocket on the shoulder strap is terrible. I have an iPhone and the pouch is exactly where the middle of the curve of the strap should be over my right shoulder. This isn't just slightly wrong; it is very wrong even moving it 3 or 4 inches further up the strap would still put it right where the strap is trying to curve, which means there is this really uncomfortable lump if you try and put the phone in the designated pouch. If they moved it down like 5" then it would be on the straight part of the strap and easy to put in and out as well as being comfortable. As it is, I am even afraid that continued use could crack my phone eventually.
One final note on quality: I have used this constantly for two years and it remains immaculate. I flew to NY with it 5 times and have at least another 10 flights elsewhere with it. It has been under seats, overhead, my kids have stepped on it, and I have used it daily to work for this entire time. There is not a single frayed thread, stuck zipper, tear or even blemish on it.
If you can possibly buy this backpack, do it!

I work at a luggage store that sells this laptop bookbag, and even at its high price, it is still our best seller. And the reason is once someone checks out this bag, all the other bags just look worthless and never quite as functional. I am in college, and the front pocket with file divider fits most of my books. I use public transportation, so the pocket on the shoulder straps is great for quickly tucking my phone or keys away quickly.I don't really use the headphone hole, I don't think anyone really uses that, but when I travel domestically, I'm glad my iPod has a spot for it. The orange interior is awesome, and the lite weight material helps with extra stress on the shoulders. So basically, yea it's a lot of money for a bag, but then again, it's a LOT of bag.

I'm 6'5" and this is the first business backpack I've found that fits me properly. It is unusually tall, and then it uses the length to provide extra space. The cords pocket at the bottom is particularly useful.Interestingly, the pack also fits my 5' 7" daughter well. Somehow, the straps adjust, and she found it very comfortable when I tried it on her.
I really like the style of the bag. It combines a classic look with some contrasting stitching, color on the zipper pulls and an orange lining. I think it comes off with more style than most bags without calling for attention. Much nicer than my Samsonite Meridian.
Living with the pack is great. It stands up with or without my laptop, and it holds water bottles, food, a change of clothes and whatever else I need. We'll see about durability, but the lifetime guarantee is promising.
Want Briggs & Riley Verb Live Large Backpack Discount?
I have to admit I'm surprised by all the 5-star reviews. Compared to the $89, 4yo Wenger SwissGear pack that I just replaced, the Briggs & Riley is a bit of a letdown.I find it very difficult to store odd-sized objects, such as my Bose headphones, in this pack. It seems to have been designed to only hold flat objects. Sure, there are 2 pockets in the bottom of the main compartment, but those are small and extremely hard to reach if I have books or notepads in there along with my laptop. If you put any odd-shaped items in either of the 2 main compartments, it creates pressure on the adjacent compartments, giving the whole thing an unsightly bulge.
Speaking of notepads the 2nd main compartment, which seems to be intended for notepads and file folders, is nowhere near deep enough. Sure, it'll hold a few pieces of paper, but anything bigger, like a top-bound tablet or manila folder, makes it hard to close the zipper. You're pretty much stuck putting that stuff in with the laptop, which as I mentioned above makes the inside pockets hard to access. I almost never use the middle compartment because of this.
Finally the quality. Good thing it has a lifetime warranty, because I'm going to need it. The top handle, which I use to pick up and set down the bag when I'm not carrying it by the arm straps, is already starting to pull loose after 3 months. I carried the SwissGear around by the handle all the time, and it still works great, after 4+ years.
In conclusion, I feel like this bag was designed more for form than for function. It looks nice (empty), but is awkward to store and retrieve items, and the quality is disappointing.

Molle Tactical Sling BAG Backpack --Acu, Tan, Black, Od Green
More so, the primary pocket also has an inner elastic pocket that I found quite useful for stowing my laptop (about 14 inch screen) and still had plenty of room for the accessories, plus textbooks, folders, and notebooks. The webbing complies with the military MOLLE standard, which allows you to attach all sorts of accessories to the available spaces on the inside and outside (hint: triple M-4 mag pouches also work really well for carrying water bottles or beer!) and one more little feature: There is space and a pass through for a hydration system.
As far as durability? Give one to your high school freshman and he'll graduate with it.
Simply put: Awesome pack, you'll save money over having to purchase other bags, it (black) looks cool, it's versatile, and it's quite comfy to carry about (hiked the grand canyon!)I've had the black version of this pack for over six months now. It has exceeded my expectations which were pretty high to begin with.
My briefcase-style laptop case prior to this was killing my back and I needed something replace it that was big enough to fit a laptop and accessories in, but not ridiculously huge. Oh, and it needed to not kill my back with daily use.
This thing is the perfect size for pretty much everything I've used it for, although I would think it's a little small for a long camping trip unless you're going in commando or survivalist mode. And it pretty much has every feature imaginable. You could strap steaks to it and put this thing into a T-Rex cage and it would come out intact with all your stuff still neatly stowed away. Even if it was swallowed whole.
As someone already mentioned, there is an insulated pouch inside the main compartment to hold a water bladder, not included, (it also has built in elastic keepers and appropriate holes for the straw/hose thing to lace through and attach on the shoulder strap) that is also the perfect size for a laptop. I was pleasantly surprised by that because it wasn't mentioned in the description. Since it's a pretty elastic compartment, you could fit various sizes of electronics or water bladders in it and they will stay in place and be protected and insulated. The main pocket also has a full zippered mesh compartment in it as well on the back side of the middle compartment separator. You can have the main compartment completely unzipped but still closed thanks to the way the compression straps are placed. Very helpful for carrying oddly-shaped things or wet clothes. (There are drain holes in the bottom as well.)
There are two more zippered compartments and all three compartments have water resistant panels between them as another added bonus. The middle compartment has an array of zippered mesh pockets that you can put all kinds of junk in. My initial impression was that the mesh pockets wouldn't hold up since they're very light weight but they've been very durable and the zippers are all very sturdy. The front zippered pocket has a short divider with some pockets and a clip (usually clip my flash drives on it, but is also sturdy enough for keys, etc.) There are also the two hidden pockets as well which are way bigger than they look in the picture and not obvious at all on the black model. All the outside zippers are the heavy duty, covered, no-snag zippers and I've had no issues with them at all. Stitching is heavy duty as well. The top handle has a removable velcro strap cushion.
Overall, this pack has enough room for a huge laptop in a hard case, files, notebooks, recording interface, etc. in the main compartment, power cords, adapters, ipod, mouse, laptop lock, firewire cords, random notebooks, etc. in the middle compartment, and several flash drives, pens, post-it notes, glasses case, etc. in the front pocket. And that's about half full with the compression straps tightened. I've also used it for day-long biking trips (stayed well in place with the stabilizer strap clipped on), hiking, as a gym bag and an overnight bag. Plenty of space and pockets. Very versatile and is hardly showing any wear even though it is usually filled with my "mobile office/recording studio" on a daily basis and I've been really trying to beat the crap out of it.
The shoulder strap took a little getting used to for me because, although well padded, it's the hard condura fabric that can be unforgiving and it's pretty wide. Figured it would dig into my neck and I'd end up taking a blow torch to it. However, I've come to really like it and when you cinch the shoulder strap and cross strap up tight, this thing does not move. I don't use the stabilizer strap very often, but you can tuck that away (mostly) under the back pad. The hip pad part still sticks out, but it keeps the strap out of the way.
This thing is covered in molle compatible straps, inside and out. If you need add-ons, there are plenty of configurations to choose from. I thought it would look a little extreme using it everyday since I work in an office, but on the contrary, I've been asked several times where I bought it and gotten complements on how comfortable it looks from people who are searching for a similar sling-style bag for their laptop. I would also put money down that this will outlast a majority of the trendy bags my fellow hikers and bikers had as well.
Durable, comfortable, versatile, lots of room and compartments that will compress if you don't need them, stays in place and has a very high coolness factor for both features and look. Oh, my back feels much better after switching to this pack. It's worth the money, for sure.

I received my Condor sling bag yesterday and was very impressed with the product. I purchased this to replace my 12 year old Samsonite laptop bag that just couldn't take anymore abuse. I looked at similar bags and backpacks and kept coming away with a sense that once quality manufactures had now cut cost and quality. When I read the reviews for the Condor sling bag I saw over and over comments about the quality, ruggedness and good design of their bag. I could not be more happy. The bag appears well made and of solid design. There is plenty of space and enough pockets to satisfy most people.Pros:
Cost: reasonable for what you get
Space: the bag is fairly spacious with side and top straps that can cinch the bag tight or loosened to expand. My wife's 17" laptop fits nicely.
Pockets: There are three main pockets each with a variety of internal zipper pockets that are well suited for lots of stuff. The smallest pocket includes slots for pens, cellphone, etc. There are two hidden pockets, one on either back side that could be used to conceal contents such as a handgun or a wallet.
-Extras: The bag is ambidextrous so there is a lower back strap on each side with a pocket to stow the strap you are not using. The main strap includes a velcro loop to keep secured. The zippers all have cord loops for easy access. There are additional velcro patches and loops to attach additional gear. It is a very versatile bag.
Balance: The bag is well balanced on my shoulder with both light and heavy loads. Unlike using a backpack with only one strap on your shoulder, this bag rides nice, stays put and adjusts easily.
Cons:
Material: the bag material is a bit rough like thick polyester and not smooth like Kevlar. This might irritate some if carrying the bag for log periods. Because the outer material is thick the bag is rather stiff. It may loosen up with time.
Laptop: This is not a laptop bag and therefore does not have a specific laptop space or significant cushion on the bottom of the bag. Some caution should be taken when stowing a laptop. You might not want to toss it to the tile floor when you get home. In general the padding of the bag is good but was not designed as a laptop bag so be aware.

I needed a new backpack for my everyday carry. The backpack I was using was a laptop backpack. It was boxy, it was hell on my back, and it was bulky. I am sure its a good backpack if your a business person or yuppy. The Molle Tactical sling bag is awesome. Its made out of tough fabric, it has multiple pockets and compartments. Its very comfortable on the back. It fits my body well, though I look like a dork wearing it (I look like a dork anyway.) It has a secondary attachment so the backpack isn't sliding around. A compartment and opening for a water bladder. That compartment can easily hold a tablet pc, a netbook and maybe even a laptop. Buy a neoprene case if you really want to be on the safe side, and yes that will fit into the compartment. I use the zipper compartments for my hand sanitizer, acid reflux, and hand lotion. I have so much extra room in the bad to add stuff for my edc.
Great backpack overall. You can beat the crap out of this pack. Its tough stuff. I love this backpack.

Velo Transit Men's Compact Waterproof Messenger Bicycle Backpack
1. Comfort This bag is the most comfortable backpack I have ever owned. The company founder and pack designer has designed this bag with comfort in mind.
2. Professional/stylish This pack comes in many colors and I have the all black one. Let me just say that this is a cool and stylish looking pack. It has a roll top pack which I will cover later but it does not look like a large plastic bag. Regardless of the fact that it is waterproof, it is a great looking bag. It also has several other pockets for keys, papers, iPad, etc. It is not a one chamber bag.
3. Waterproof While I have not had the opportunity to try it in one of the big Seattle downpours yet, I have faced a few showers with everything staying completely dry. The main roll top chamber of the bag is lined with a waterproof liner. The outside pockets of the pack are protected with a waterproof flap. I have confidence that this bag will protect all of my items.
4. Quality You will not find a better pack for any price. The padding is great, the stitching is hefty and it is put together to last. This pack is hand made in Seattle. You can certainly pay less for a mass made pack but it will not be waterproof nor will it have this high quality. For all of the money I am saving riding the bus, I decided to invest in a quality pack. Why not?
So in summary, you cannot go wrong with any of the Velo Transit backpacks. They are high quality, waterproof, comfortable and built right here in Seattle.
January 2013
I have had it for one year and I carry it every day to work. I still love it.I just received this bag as a gift for Christmas and currently live in Seattle so I have already had a couple of opportunities to test out the functionality and "water proofness", so far the bag seems solid. I have a two hour commute and many times, in the rain, I carry a couple of books a change of clothes, mobile phone, u-lock, and a bottle of water and everything has remained dry and there is still room to put more stuff in it. At first i thought that my stuff would get wet because the top of the bag has a draw string and then a large flap that comes over, where as most of the other bags have a roll over top, but like I said, "I'm in Seattle", and everything stayed dry. There are plenty of pockets and so far so good on the comfort level. There are also two reflective strips which helps in keeping me seen. I also had a problem at first registering my bag online and when I called the customer service was excellent. So, so far my overall impression is it's a great bag there are other bags that I looked at from more popular companies, but many of them are made overseas and this one is made in the USA which means a lot to me and I don't mind that it may cost a little more.
