I liked that the two zippers go down the side far enough that you can zip the laptop up while its charging without a problem. It's also well made.

The only issue is that it is not as snug around the laptop as I would like. It says its for a 14" laptop, but it seems like it would better fit a 15"

I did quite a bit of research looking for bags to carry my iPad. I had bought the Mobile Edge Mini Messenger bag. Nice materials and finishes. I just found it to be BIG. Too big for just carrying the iPad.

I wanted something more compact and understated. That is what I found the Alpha Bravo Day Beale bag to be perfectly sized for the iPad. Nice pockets and compartments to house accessories and miscellaneous items.

The look and the design of the bag are really nice. The photos really don't do it justice. I saw several other Tumi bags at Nordstroms in person, and only then, can you appreciate the quality and the attention to details that Tumi provides.

Two minor complaints with this bag. The liner is a little loose. Not bad. I am not sure this is what I was expecting given the other bags I saw.

The zipper on the front of the bag under the flap is a little coarse. Sometimes, it does not glide as smoothly as a finer zipper would.

In summary, for daily use carrying the essentials plus your iPad and accessories: Great.

You won't be able to fit too much. Great styling.

Minor details on the finish of the liner and the zippers.

Worth $175? Debatable....

If you want to carry around anything with a 10 inch screen then this is for you. It fits exactly my ipad and asus netbook together with no room for anything else besides a few pieces of paper and maybe some pens. The quality is good and careful design was put into the bag. I recommend this bag for anyone that never plans to carry around anything bigger than an iPad. If you think that you'll need to take a normal sized laptop with you then get something bigger.

My 3yr old son loves his fireman backpack! It is the perfect size for him and he can put toys in all the side pockets, while I put an extra set of clothing and sippy cup in the main section. Manhattan Portage Wallstreeter Messenger Bag

This bag will last forever! I had used it daily for the last 10 years carrying a laptop, notebooks and an insulated lunch bag. The fabric used to make this bag was very tough and it resisted all kinds of stain and daily abuse from the NYC subways and buses. The only thing that did not survive its 10 year journey is the shoulder strap. I replaced it last year because its metal hinges finally gave out after years of heavy lifting.

This bag is very comfortable to wear. It can be worn messenger bag style, or like a backpack. There is even a comfortable handle on top to carry it like a suitcase. The inside is very roomy and there is a zipper along the edge that you can unzip to give you twice as much storage. There are plenty of pockets inside and outside the bag to hold misc small items and magazines.

I'm giving this bag 5 stars. Even though I had to replace the shoulder strap, I could not fault the bag nor MP because the original strap lasted almost as long as I had this bag! As of this writing I no longer have this bag because I gave it away to someone who needs it more than I do. I am very impressed with the quality and build of this bag and I will even venture a guess that this bag will last through another 10 years of daily abuse in someone else's hands.

I originally purchased this bag in 1989! Before you could make it into a backpack. I loved it I used it loyally for almost 10 years ! Then it was stolen. So I decided to try other makers & bag styles. After another 10 years I went back to Manhattan Portage. Sorry to say that the bag has gone down hill.

Minuses

The 2 pockets under the flap are smaller and taper in at the bottom. The zippers are all not as "butch" which worries me but only time will tell. I'm glad that the expansion fixture is unchanged it was why I bought the bag 20 years ago and why I bought it again. The webbing underneath the expansion zipper was wider which gave the bag better shape both expanded and un-expanded.

Pluses

The new small pocket at the top of the bag is great for phone or mp3 player. I wish it was lined with a softer fabric. The strap seams stronger and better padded and the plastic clips have been replaced with metal (the plastic clips are the only thing that ever failed on my old version).

I did the inflation calculation and the bag I got in 1989 would be about $160 now which I would pay if it was of the same quality. This bag is about right at $115.

Well...it didn't come with anything cool inside of it but that's my only gripe. I mean, if I owned a bag company I'd put a mystery prize in every bag...a deck of cards, a scarf, whatever. For years I've been using a Tumi bag designed to fit a large laptop as my daily work bag + carry on. It's great for longer trips and provides excellent protection for your laptop, but it's overly bulky/heavy for daily use. I realized I could get by with a smaller bag, but wanted one that would still offer enough pockets and some expandability for travel. After doing quite a bit of research, I settled on this bag. A couple of weeks after purchase, I took it on a trip to the UK and Jerusalem. Upon return, I'm thrilled with the overall quality, storage options, and expandability. This bag not only has an expandable center section, but it also offers multiple zippered pockets on the outside and interior as well as two large snap-closure pockets on the front which will hold a kindle, phone, etc. It also has a secret feature which proved very useful: a zipper pocket on the rear opens to reveal two minimalist straps that transform the messenger bag into a backpack! Very handy under certain conditions. This was not only able to hold all of my carry-on items, but was big enough for two people's things on an overnight trip that included hiking and swimming. It also swallowed a lot of gifts on the return trip without complaint. Zip up the center expander and it returns to a nice daily use messenger bag.

Build quality is very good overall. I highly recommend it!

LeSportsac Basic Backpack

I'm a LeSportSac addict but the backpack is my least favorite. The shoulder strap is too thin, which would make it uncomfortable eventually. I love the lightweight of LeSportSac fabric, but on a backpack, it doesn't work as well. There's no padding on the back; thus I don't trust to put my laptop or any electronic devices in there. I was thinking about getting it for my niece, but I think her books / notes / knick-knacks would poke her back when carrying it. The tight-seam which makes the pockets lying flat, not bulkly, doesn't work well for a backpack either. The side pocket is hardly big or stretchy enough for a water bottle.

The fun designs and small size of the LeSportSac backpack would probably gear toward elementary kids (girls) because they don't have to carry a lot of items.

I have a neck issue and cannot wear a single strap handbag. I've loved this extremely light weight, useful, backpack style bag for a number of years. They are made of Lesportsac's famous lightweight, I think its parachute, material that takes an evil beating without breaking. I've had a beige one and a black one for at least 7 years and they've been all over Europe with me, on dozens of day hikes, used daily for work and classes and I just cannot wear them out.I finally bought a third, patterened one recently just for variety. I love the size of this 'basic backpack', it is not as large and bulky as a 'real' backpack, just the size of a larger size handbag. It holds a lot of 'stuff',including my 14 inch laptop. It looks stylish enough to wear in the city and is gentle on my neck and back. Love this bag!

This is the first and only STM bag I own. I love the organization of the bag in which you have a small frontal pocket for pens, keys, ipod, phone and misc. The straps felt scratchy at first when I put the bookbag on, but the scratchyness disappeared over time. What I wish I could have done was ordered the small STM Ranger instead because it looks too big and bulky on me. Even though the provided laptop sleeve does not fit my 17" laptop (I measured it wrong, didn't know it was 17" at first), I rarely even bring my laptop to school because my laptop is extremely heavy. I use the laptop compartment in the bookbag to hold a textbook or fragile books that I don't want the corner to be bent when I'm carrying a lot. As for the ipad compartment, I don't own a ipad, but it fits my planner and whatever novel I read perfectly. So yes, I don't tend to carry a laptop or a ipad around most of the time, but this bookbag can be used to other ways that suits my needs.

This bag is good looking and functions wonderfully. Extra padding makes me feel that my electronics are safe and secure.

This bag is designed with convenience in mind. The outer pocket makes it easy to access my keys, a pen, and a snack. The side pockets keep my drink and my umbrella secure enough that I don't worry about them falling out. The interior pocket is large enough that I can fit 2 large textbooks and a binder, plus and extra drink and a bag of snacks.

I found the outer hook was a little challenging at first because I needed to open the strap with my finger to slip the hook in, but now that I've done it for a couple of weeks, the strap is trained and doesn't try to bunch.

Someone in a previous review stated that this bag bumped around when they walked; I haven't had that problem at all. If I did have that issue, this bag clips across the chest; I believe that would take care of it.

I'm short, and I was concerned that I would find it too broad across the shoulders, but that hasn't been an issue either.

This bag is worth the price!

Nike Brasilia 5 Large Duffel Grip

I love the bag and it is as described. However I have used the adidas duffel bags from the friend and those definitely felt a little bit more tougher and durable than this one. So I did consider them a better purchase even if they are a little more expensive.

This bag is pretty awful. I usually give mail order products the benefit of the doubt. I can't see touch them or operate them so, I'm purchasing on faith. Faith that the seller is honest in their description and the product is solid and good. usually I'm not disappointed. Not so this time around. Even for the low price this bag is poorly made and designed. I've only had it 1 1/2 weeks and it's already tearing at the seam along the shoulder straps. And there are too few inside pockets, just 2 large compartments. Really... just a bad bag.

Badlands Kali Day Pack

This pack fits perfectly! I am 5'8" and 125 pounds, finding a pack that can fit me right was impossible until I tried this one on in Sportsmans and I fell in love! The only thing I would change about the pack is to add a way to clip or loop stuff on the shoulder straps and on the front, when we are shed hunting it would be nice to strap the horns on the front and when I am running the hounds it would be great to strap my Garmin on one side and the Tri-Tronics on the other. Other then that this pack is amazing, I can't wait to throw a B&C Black Bear hide and meat in it this bear season :) I would recommend this pack to ANY girl that wants a pack that fits right, The pockets on the waist are amazing! My HTC Thunderbolt with Otterbox goes in and out great, lots of room. The ventilation on the back REALLY helps prevent sweating. Great pack and hey, what girl doesn't like pink with her Camo? ;)

Well... I haven't had a chance to use it yet, I have to wait until the weather warms up a bit,... however I have picked thru it to make sure everything is right. The fit is AMAZING!! It's as though it was designed for my body. I have purchased a first aid kit and a 105oz hydration bladder.

My only complaint (although minor) is that the pack needs to be able to have hooks to accomodate the hydration bladder. When filled with water, it will not stay vertical. Gravity takes it straight to the bottom of the specified area and then it will fail to function properly. I 'jerry-rigged' a couple of little hooks that correspond with the holes on the water-bladder, and the bag stays put perfectly.

Dakine Capitol Pack

I'm a 26 years old female graduate student and ...This is my favorite backpack! I've been through a lot of backpacks (what happens when you make it to graduate school) and I have to say, I don't remember the last time when I put on a backpack without thinking "UGH, this looks so lame and nerdy" until now! This gorgeous bright blue Dakine really changed the way I think about backpacks. The color is simple, but very bright. Almost turquoise. It goes well with many outfits (if you coordinate), and is just the right size. I'm 5'3 and 105, and this fits well on my shoulders without looking too big and nerdy.

Unlike other major brand name backpacks designed for students, this one does not come with a million compartments. I hated backpacks with all different kinds of zippers and mesh bag water holders sticking out. This one just has a roomy main compartment with a durable laptop section, and a pocket in the front. What is most important is that, unlike many Jansport backpacks, this one actually holds a shape. It just looks really sharp and clean. I get a lot of compliments on this, and two other people in my class have purchased this since they saw me with it. Not kidding.

Now on to the fabric...appearances aside, it is my favorite aspect of this bag. The fabric is REALLY tough. It is thick, and when you look closely you can see a woven striped pattern. This also makes it less absorbent of fluids and easier to clean. When I spill something on it it does not soak it up right away, so I can wipe it off with a tissue. The shoulder straps are extra thick too, and really sturdy. I know this will last me a long time...if I don't drop out of school, that is.

And 20 bucks (what's listed right now) is a really good deal. So get it!

Decided to purchase a new booksack for school. The Dakine caught my eye because I liked how it looked and the price of it. I'm a college student, so the laptop sleeve definitely helped seal the deal.

One thing though, my backpack didn't come with the little organizer like the backpacks in the photos. Though, i see now, that those photos have been removed, along with the black backpack (which is the one i ordered). Odd.

The backpack's comfortable though, it's spacious enough to carry all of my pens, cell phone, water bottle, laptop and various notebooks.

I actually really this case and had no use for the handles, but I have to speak up about it. The handles are on the inside of the zipper. So to carry the case you have to zip each side zipper up to either side of the handles. I have no Idea how they got both zipper things on one side and the handles showing in the picture at the same time.

It seems this comes with a reference guide before you order it though. This is the first time i'm noticing it. I may just cut the handles out.

Otherwise, I like the sleeve.

Outdoor Products Mountain Duffel

I ordered 4 of these as gifts and had them monogrammed. They are excellent quality, heavy duty, extra pockets and came folded in a bag that can be used for other items. I have had many of these type bags and I was delighted with the quality and price of this one. I would order any of the "Outdoor Products" again.

I travel every two weeks and so far I've always had plenty of room to spare in my bag but my final undoing will be the zipper. So far it works well but it's a plain Jane, light-duty zipper and with how frequently I fly and the nature of the work that I'm involved in I can see the writing on the wall. Got two bags for a recent 6-day trip to Walt Disney World. Since check-in luggage is now $15 per bag, we decided to get 2 large duffel bags for 2 adults and 2 youth. On the way back the second bag got a nice slash, presumably from some baggage handling equipment, that penetrated the bag and cut deep into a nice down-filled coat.

Next time we'll get luggage with heavier fabric and wheels.
