High Sierra Swerve Backpack
I was a bit concerned when I read the reviews on this product, though. I read that the material felt cheap and that the zippers were not the best. When I received the product, I had absolutely no complaints from the look of it. I felt the material and it was good. Definitely not what I had read the in the reviews. I received this product before the estimated delivery date, as well,
which was an added bonus.
Overall, I recommend this product! I took the risk and bought it because I loved the design and it was very colorful and I do not regret my decision of buying this product. My daughter just loves this backpack!! It seems beautifully constructed with a lot of room for all her necessities. It's very colorful and the best part is that her friends DON'T have one just like it. I recommend this backpack to any female that has a lot to carry!!

I am a college student. I carry my laptop around with me and a few folders and notebooks. When I used the backpack for the first time, it was very uncomfortable and stiff and hurt my back a ton! But now, a couple weeks later, its a lot better, and I like it a lot. I don't think I would recommend this for a very small, and thin person. The shoulder sit kind of wide on the shoulders. I guess, I dont have the most broad of shoulders either.
I like the color. I was afraid it would be too blue for me, but I barely even think about it, and you don't see many people with a backpack like mine on campus.
I like the laptop compartment, it seems to be fine for my laptop. The pockets are all nice. I can fit my Camelbak water bottle in the side holders. The one thing I don't like is that there is a small pocket zip for inbetween the larger compartment zips, and it is not soft lined. It's like a plastic-y material. But, I do love the pocket, because a lot of my small things can go in it. Like, my pocket book, chapstick, headphones, phone... etc.
Good backpack, it seems very sturdy! It took forever to be shipped to me though!Such a cute backpack! The bright colors and cheerful floral print really caught my eye. I love this backpack just because it looks so adorable, and I'm pleasantly surprised that it is very functional as well. I like the zippered compartments which keep my things separated and organized. I love the convenient external key rings and pouches for water bottles. The inner pockets are great for small items. The padded straps are comfortable, even when the backpack is fully loaded. There is a sleeve that protects important papers from getting bent or crumpled. I enjoy taking this backpack with me everywhere. The fabric looks very durable, so we will happily be going places together for a long time to come.I ordered this backpack because as a student I require a lot of compartments and my other backpack was small for all I need to have in it. I love this backpack because it has so many compartments and it is a high quality. I've gotten great compliments on it.

Arc'teryx Axios 25 Daypack
The small mesh pocket on the sides can be streached for a camelbak water bottle or snack (be aware, enegy gel will fly out) Small pocket on front has a key clip. And all material are super light and thin, but seem to be holding up really well. I've been using it almost a year and going strong.
Be aware, that the most illustration photos, including ones on Arcteryx website, has the Arcteryx's bird only. However, the actual product will have "Arcetryx" wording under the bird logo...that was a little turn off for me.

Bluelounge Bonobo Series Messenger for 17-Inch MacBooks and Laptops - Black (US-MB-01)
Looks great
Very comfortable
Made from recycled materials
CONS
No dedicated laptop sleeve/section (no real protection for your mac, need a separate sleeve if you want impact protection)
Velcro on inside of flap has ripped open both mesh pockets (this is a design flaw, perhaps it's been fixed in last year?)
It's a bit priceyThis bag is not bad, but a little more simple than I thought it would be. To me, it looked a little more high end in the pictures but in person it looks slightly cheap. I don't necessarily think the product is worth the price, but it is definitely good to use as an everyday messenger bag that may be subjected to a little abuse.

Spacious interior with the lack of pockets, due to their "minimalistic" approach.Neat exterior with texture that catches particles very quickly and you need a tape to clean it.
Very comfy on the shoulder, and although it won't be horizontal but things won't fall, which was my concern.
It'd be better to attach a small description and how to use/wear. It is my first time trying a messenger bag after a bunch of backpacks, and it took me couple of days to wear it without a pause :)
The product is great and could earn the missing star, if they just improved those little important stuff, especially the extra pockets.

Alchemy Goods Urban Messenger Bag, Made from Recycled Bike Tubes
First of all it's huge, and can fit virtually as much gear as you can store in it. I travel often with my urban and am able to fit 2 day worth of clothes plus all my toiletries in the bag, as well as my laptop and 7 inch tablet. So if you're traveling it's an awesome bag as it is permissible as a carry-on bag.
Furthermore a lot of the little amenities really add to the bag. The front pocket on the huge flap, is bisected into two compartments allowing you to store items without all tumbling together, and the smaller pocket fits larger phones like a galaxy s2. The t-strap that comes standard really helps stabilize the bag wether you or running, walking, or bicycling making it easier to carry. The 4 pen slots also are helpful for those who use it as a work bag.
Of course the bag is waterproof, I've walked in a absolute downpour and all of my gear was easily protected and totally dry. It's also ridiculously rugged, it can withstand a beating and the bag conforms to the shape of the contents making it easy to store, and carry.
Speaking of carrying, even with massive weight the bag feels balanced and sits comfortably against your hip distributing its weight evenly, and the shoulder strap seatbelt is comfortable for hours.
I also love the choice of colors for the piping, and the ash interior provides a great contrast, making locating items very easy.
The Urban Is a bag i'll keep for years and will enjoy using everyday.
Also it's very eco conscious which means its not only a great bag, its great for the environment.
Alchemy Goods Urban Bag RulesJust going to start out by saying this bag is fantastic! I had recently changed jobs and am now doing my commuting by either bike or walking. And living in Seattle our lovely waterlogged weather makes for a soggy commute. So I was on the hunt for a.)Something large enough to carry a laptop to and from work and b.)is waterproof.
I had driven by the Alchemy Goods shop in Seattle before and did some research and found their website and found that their bags met both of my criteria but with added bonuses! Not only is it large enough to hold my work computer comfortably as well as other things inside with the computer in there, it's waterproof and made of re-used (or upcycled) materials! And it's made by a local independent small business which I'm also an avid supporter of. It's a winning combination all around!
I primarily bought this bag for work, but I now use it for everything! Wether it's packing it for a weekend trip or filling it up with stacks of vinyl from the record store it's awesome. It's already proven it's worth every penny on the first walk home in the rain with the computer in tow.

Last year, I was looking for a new messenger bag to hold my laptop, lunch, and other various things for work. I also needed something that would be durable and could stand up to the wear and tear that comes from being an early childhood teacher. The Urban bag has perfectly met my needs and then some. Since the bag is made from re-purposed bike tires and car seat belts it's able to withstand a lot.I really like how the bag itself is completely waterproof from the outside. I never have to worry about anything getting wet with the rubber outer material. The bag is fully adjustable and very comfortable, even with a lot of things inside.
However, what really differentiates this product from others is the attention to detail. The designers at Alchemy goods have obviously put a lot of care and thought into their craftsmanship. The many pockets help separate and further protect my laptop, as well as provide a place for my water bottle, iPod, umbrella and other items. The best evidence of Alchemy's thoughtfulness is their key clip. Almost daily I think about how awesome this feature is. I never have to dig though the bag for my keys, which could be an issue in this somewhat larger bag.
If you're looking for an eco-friendly and head-turning product, this is a great choice. It's extremely durable and utilitarian. Best of all, Alchemy has a great warranty and will replace defective products if needed. Please support this great company. I look forward to seeing what other products they come up with!

I have had my Ag urban messenger bag for a couple of days now, and I'm delighted with it.I bought it because my leather satchel was taking a real beating, and after 4 years, I wanted an upgrade.
What did I want?
I wanted a bag that looked good, and that could hold a lot. I'm a teacher, so need to carry lots of marking etc. home with me.
I take my bag with me everywhere, so it had to be able to survive nights on the floors of pubs, music festivals, and anything else I chose to throw at it.
I'm having a baby in August, so also wanted something that could double up as a diaper/changing bag (and not look like one!)
I looked at a load of bags leather was ruled out pretty quickly as it doesn't wear as well, and wasn't enough of a departure from my satchel. There are some great messenger bags on the market, but I eventually chose the Urban.
Why the Ag Urban?
It looks very cool. I've only had it a couple of days, but already it has attracted some very positive comments from friends. You can still see the manufacturer details of some of the inner tubes that have been used, which is pretty cool.
It's a Tardis you really can fill it as much as you want. I can carry a laptop, A4 notebooks, files, lunch, kindle, keys, wallet, phone, and all the other bits and pieces needed for the day, and it doesn't come anywhere close to being full. The only limiting factor is how much you can carry!
The front zip pocket is really useful holds my phone and wallet so I can access them without opening the main compartment.
There is a compartment at the back designed for a laptop. It doesn't have any padding though, so you'll need a sleeve or cover. This will be very useful for storing a changing mat.
I really like the upcycling concept. 76% of the bag is made from recycled products, and supporting this very sustainable ethos is important to me. It's also nice to think that my bag has a whole history that is completely individual. The inner tubes and seatbelts used to make it will have travelled hundreds of miles in their lifetime, and now they have been reincarnated!
What's it like to live with?
Even when packed full, it's comfortable to carry. The T-strap is a great addition, and makes it very stable while spreading the weight evenly across your back.
Last night I was caught in a massive downpour, and everything inside was completely dry no need to worry about expensive electronics getting water-damaged.
It doesn't feel like a huge bag. You might expect something that can lug around 32 beer cans to flap about and be unwieldy, but the Urban doesn't. I'm happy just carrying my kindle and a notebook in it, using it as an everyday bag.
The only thing I might be tempted to add is a bit of padding to the strap, but I could just go out and buy one. In fact, I should probably get involved with the Alchemy Goods ethos and upcycle something of mine!
All in all, a fantastic purchase. If you need a big bag that looks great, this should be seriously considered.

I wrote up a great product review but I forgot to publish! So here it is to the best of my memory. This bag is great. I abused it for 2.5 years and it finally broke because some dolt dropped a heavy object onto the plastic clip that controls the shoulder strap length. It is well made, but I think it hit at the right angle.
The positives:
-The bag is water repellant. It will withstand a light drizzle but don't go singing in the rain during Spring Texas showers.
-The bag is sleek and one of a kind.
-The shoulder strap is wide enough that it disperses the forces and makes it easier on the shoulder. This is a biggie. Too often have I had messenger bags dig into my shoulder and cause terrible pain.
-The bag is big. B I G big. It can fit a lot in it. It is deep, wide, and tall. I fit a 13" Macbook, books, and spirals in it. Oh, and I still had room. The limiting factor is the weight that you can carry.
-The interior does fine with coffee or other liquid spills. It drys out fine and you would have to worry about anything getting mucked up!
-There are interior pockets and pen holders along with a exterior pocket.
Negatives:
-The bag has a weight to it. Because of the material it isn't light like a feather, but because of the material it is very durable. The bag can withstand a beating.
I highly suggest this bag and thoroughly enjoyed the time I used it!

High Sierra A.T. GO 22" Carry-On Drop-Bottom Expandable Duffel with backpack
The only problem that arose during my many travels is that while it actually IS carry-on sized, I was stopped at several different airports because it looks bigger/heavier than it actually is. I got into a tiny tiff with a flight attendant until I heaved it into the overhead cabinet and closed the bin with ease, as she was about to make me check it until I asked to prove to her that it actually fits. And this happened two more times. I've thought about carrying a tape measure with me to prove to flight attendants that this is a carry-on bag.Well-made and very practical for people who want to carry on to flights. It can be a backpack, a suitcase you pull, or a bag you carry. Lots of space inside for packing.
Buy High Sierra A.T. GO 22" Carry-On Drop-Bottom Expandable Duffel with backpack Now
This bag is perfect! Allows for a lot of stuff to be packed, easily accesible, and built like a tank. This bag tends to be too thick for some overhead luggage compartments on airplanes, especially if it is in its expanded mode. This applies in particular to domestic flights in Brazil where overhead compartments are narrow, Other than that, the length and width are ok. Compartments on International flights however are usually more generous and I found no problem. Build-wise, I discovered that after one international trip, the fabric had a rip on one seam. So I am not sure that this bag would stand up to rough treatment. For these reasons, I can only give this bag 2 stars and I can't recommend it.Want High Sierra A.T. GO 22" Carry-On Drop-Bottom Expandable Duffel with backpack Discount?
I bought this suitcase as a replacement for my usual carry-on that broke. I travel fairly frequently, so I wanted something very functional and rugged. This suitcase is just that. There are many compartments, the wheels and pull-out aluminum handle are very solid. With this bag, you can pull, carry as a duffle bag, or wear it as a backpack. It's great. The only unfortunate thing I encountered was that the little metal logo on the front broke off fairly quickly; no biggie though. Be warned, while this bag does just perfectly fit in the smallest of overhead bins on planes, the ticketing agent at the gate may ask you to shove the bag in their little size-checker; it's just a pain if you're trying to quickly board the plane. It may be a tight fit though if you use the expansion portion.Thursday, February 13, 2014

15.4 inch Army ACU Digital Camouflage Pattern Laptop Notebook Padded Compartment Shoulder Messenger
15.4 inch Army ACU Digital Camouflage Pattern Laptop Notebook Padded Compartment Shoulder Messenger BagI found this bag when looking for a new messenger-style laptop bag for my 15.6" Toshiba Satellite laptop. I was hesitant to buy, as I wasn't sure it would fit (but I took a chance, since it was only 0.2" larger than the specs stated will fit). Well, it did and it didn't. The laptop compartment was just barely too tight to fit my laptop, but it fits quite easily in the main compartment, which is nearly as well padded as the laptop compartment. I love the water resistant material and the drawstring that snugs everything up for running through the rain or just for security. My fiancé, after checking the bag out, was hoping I'd give it to him since it didn't fit my computer perfectly. When I rejected his offer to take it off my hands, he ended up buying one for himself. It fits his MacBook Pro just fine, and he uses the bag for his daily commute to work (I only need it for occasional use). It's holding up quite well, and we're both happy with the purchases.bag is perfectfor laptop holds all your stuff in one bag so your not carrying more than one bag.Going to order another one for carrying my hunting calls to and from my stand..Fits my laptop perfectly and love the ACU pattern. I've had other ACU messenger bags and I didn't like that they didn't hold the form very well or that they had too many pockets *ie, looked way too tactical for my taste). This was perfect.I bought this for my son, he was determined to have a messenger bag for school this year. He is 8 and it was the perfect size for him. Love the storage pockets and the fact that it is water resistant will really help while waiting at the bus stop! He has 2 uncles in the Army so the camo is just want wanted.

High Sierra Tech Series 59405 Titan 65 Internal Frame Pack
So I reluctantly returned it and ordered this pack instead (the Titan line was a brand new design when I ordered it).
Bottom line is I love this pack! It is 10L smaller in volume than the AT, so careful packing is important. But aside from that, there is nothing not to love. Like all the High Sierra AT and Sentinal backpacks, it has a built-in rain cover carefully tucked at the bottom. There is ample storage space, lots of pockets big and small, and some very clever access venues. There is the traditional top-down draw-string approach, but also a bottom zipper above the sleeping bag compartment so as to get to things you may have accidentally left at the bottom of the pack without having to take everything out.
Furthermore, there is a side zipper for another way of accessing your main storage compartment, and a nice side handle for easy carrying when at camp. The pack has held up well on a couple of weekend outings. I will be taking it to Philmont Scout Ranch in NM for a 10-day, 65 mile hike. I look forward to it!
For the price this is a fabulous pack, and I look forward to putting it to many miles and nights of use!
JUNE 2012 UPDATE: I just got back from the Philmont Scout Ranch in northern New Mexico. I took this pack on a 10-day 69-mile hike up and down mountains, valleys, etc. It worked just as I had hoped. The five-star review remains valid, and I am happy to report that this pack is durable, sturdy, end endlessly customizable. Due to the nature of a Philmont hike (I won't bore anyone with all the details), your pack tends to be unpacked and repacked differently nearly every day. This Titan pack excelled no matter how I packed it, and it always felt good on my shoulders and even more so on the hips. This is a very good, very solid pack for a great price.
ONE MORE UPDATE: I was also thinking...the built in rain-fly is a very convenient item (tucked in at the bottom of the pack) IF...you don't have a lot of extra items hanging off the side or bottom of your pack. For most weekend outings that will be the case and the built in fly will prove to be a very nice touch. However if you have a lot of extra items (pots, rope, etc) dangling via clips and carabiners, then you might want to bring an oversized plastic bag for rain protection, as the built in fly may not be able to stretch over those items.
Buy High Sierra Tech Series 59405 Titan 65 Internal Frame Pack Now
Bought this pack not to long ago, took it out on a short 10 mile day hike when I first got it. I was very surprised on how well this pack is constructed. Thought I would be getting a alright pack for the price. Couldn't be farther from the truth. This pack has gone out with me on 4 three day hikes and getting ready for a 2 week hike in Teton. I have every confidence in this pack. My hiking buddies have a Kelty Lakota 65 and a Granite Gear Vapor Trail and so we decided to compare those packs to this one. Other then the weight difference I can't see any major difference in the packs. I look foreword to putting many miles on this pack. Oh and the included rain cover which the other packs do not have works great. I'm no Ultralight hiker so the 5.2lbs doesn't bother my. I can hump extra weight thanks the the US Army, but if your looking for a lightweight pack then this one is not for you. Hope this helps.Read Best Reviews of High Sierra Tech Series 59405 Titan 65 Internal Frame Pack Here
I thought I was upgrading this bag because of some of the really innovative and neat features (adjustable chest strap, camera case on main, decent sized pockets on the belt, expandable back pocket for big soft stuff like jackets. Really a great design all the way around...now the bad news. The quality was terrible. I had the left load strap unravel (the stitching came out) on a major back pack trip on the JMT (John Muir Trail). The other strap is loosening with definite stitching weaknesses. The lower strap attachment is also shwoing signs of considerable wear (same stitching problem)I can provide pictures if you like...the thing is, I only used this (overnight) once, and it utterly failed on the third day! Since this involved a 5 day hike ending with a climb to the top of Mt. Whitney I was very careful to keep the weight as low as I could. It weighed 32 pounds fully loaded with 2 liters of water when I started from the trail head, hardly over packed! It was definitely full as I had a jacket and a bunch of clothes, food, tent etc. but it was not over stuffed by any means. The quality was just plain bad! I cannot in good conscience recommend this bag due to its failure after such a limited time and usage. I will be contacting the company for a replacement and if it turns out to not be a fluke and of the same qulaity I'll post here again, but for now stay clear.Want High Sierra Tech Series 59405 Titan 65 Internal Frame Pack Discount?
This is a great pack, especially for the price. I bought it after some research since I wanted to maximize quality under a certain price point and this bag for sure accomplished that goal. I have done a few couple day trips as well as week longs in Germany, Africa, Turkey, and Spain with this bag. It has held up well. I have realized that I would like a slightly larger bag but that is pure personal preference and has nothing to do with the bag itself. It is very comfortable to wear all day and the plentiful straps keep everything secure. The hip belt pockets are oversized compared to many other popular brand bags, which is amazing because it means i can fit whatever i need or want in there.
The only negative thing i have to say about this bag, and to me its an important one, is that the seams and stitching do not seem to be as sturdy as other brands like REI or Dueter. Some of the stitching seems to have already started to stretch near the handles and the bottom of the shoulder straps that connect to the bag. With the way that I travel, I don't see it lasting a year. For a bag that is 1/3 the cost of its competitors, you have to expect that.
All in all, it is a extremely good bag for someone just getting into backpacking that doesn't want to invest a large amount of money into a new hobby, or for someone who is the occasional adventurer, but for someone who will be depending on this bag, living out of it on extended world travels, I would look elsewhere.

Kelty Grommet 850 Backpack
This is the second of these small Kelty backpacks I have purchased. The first was last year when halfway through the school year my then 2nd grader's Tinkerbell backpack disintegrated. The other backpack held up for half the school year, all through the summer and so far this school year with ZERO signs of wear.
Even though my oldest is now in 3rd grade the Kelty backpack fits her perfectly (and she's the tallest girl in her class and taller than most of the boys). We had tried sizing her up with a full size backpack this year, but it seemed a little big and I'd rather have something that fit correctly and better for her back. Therefore there was no handing down of the first purchase and I bought this one for my 1st grader.
I would highly recommend them. They are a perfect fit for the early grades even with several books in them (my 3rd grader has homework every night and brings home around 2 textbooks and 1-3 notebooks in her backpack. She does have to carry her lunchpail because they are not big enough for several books AND lunch). They also hold up really well. I have an adult size that I use as a diaperbacg for the little ones that I have had since High School 13+ years ago. Kelty can take a beating and still stay structurally sound for many many years. So I expect I will be able to hand these two down to my two youngest girls as the older two grow out of them and the young ones start school.I WAS LOOKING FOR A SMALL BUT DURABLE BACKPACK FOR MY 4 1/2 YEAR OLD TO START KINDERGARTEN WITH.I FOUND THIS ONE AT AN REI STORE AND LOVED IT SO I DECIDED TO CHECK OUT AMAZON AND THEY HAD IT FOR LESS PLUS MY SON LOVED THE COOL BIKER DESIGN.IT IS A PEFECT FIT AND IS ROOMY WITH ONE LARGE ZIPPERED OPENING AND ONE MEDIUM,PLUS TWO SIDE MESH HOLDERS,PERFECT FOR WATER BOTTLES/SNACKS.KELTY MAKES GREAT PRODUCTS...YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.

My son had been carrying a small Thomas the train backpack when he started kindergarten but it never zipped shut over his proper size binder and lunchbox, and therefore was not very useful. I ordered the Jansport half pint, hoping it would be large enough but not too large for a 5 yr old but it was very very small, definitely either for some adventure other than school or for a doll. I ordered some other one advertized as "good for grade school" but it was sized for a grown up or a teenager. This one is perfect. It holds his binder and lunchbox, has a place for his water bottle, and room to spare. It seems sturdy but we've only had it a day. At least the size is right.Read Best Reviews of Kelty Grommet 850 Backpack Here

This is a great backpack. My son (5.5 yrs old) loves the additional space it gives him to lug his wares from home to school (kindergarten) and back, plenty of space in the main compartment and the front zippered area. Love that the back zipper doesn't unzip all the way, as it keeps little things from falling out. He is especially happy with the water bottle holder, because it will hold a taller bottleHis previous backpack was also a Kelty, can't remember the name, but it was the same version as this one, but without the larger front pocket. We decided to get him a little larger backpack as he is going to summer camp this year and needs to lug more stuff to the B&GC. His older backpack is still in great shape, wouldn't know that he's been using it almost 2 years. I'm trying to convince him to let me give it away to kids who need a backpack, but he's still attached to it.
It's a great size for kinders, would work well for a few more years as well. I get so many compliments from parents who like that it's kid sized and not all floppy on him. It was also a great price. Can't beat the value for the quality that you get, I wouldn't hesitate to get a Kelty product; they always rate 5 stars in my book.
