I really love my bag. I don't really wear it as a backpack unless I need my hands free, but it works well as a shoulder bag. My laptop, textbook, and paper pad all fit inside, and there are plenty of pockets to store pens or other small things.

Gift for my twin toddlers. They LOVE wearing their backpacks.

The outside is cotton quilted material but the inside does have some type of plastic (almost like a water resistant) coating and it's not cotton. Not a big deal for me but if you're looking for 100% cotton, this is not it.

I also find that the strings to close the backpack are too long. If I cut them and tie it I'm afraid it might fray. The quality is good but I can already see some of the thread coming apart so the quality really could be better. These could be used for preschool for simple items like clothes, diapers, change of shoes but I would not use this for a Kindergarten backpack. Great for kids who just like to wear backpacks out and about or for short trips.

Cuteness factor is over the top and my girls love them.

I was looking for a small bag for my 14 month old daughter that I could leave with her when I dropped her off at church childcare or whenever she was in someone else's care. This bag is SUPER cute and the colors are very vibrant. It seems to have plenty of room inside for what I wanted it for (a couple diapers, wipes, change of clothes, food/drink, etc.). The reviews I read of other designs before I bought this one did mention the poor quality of the bags but I took my chances anyway. I purchased this bag primarily to carry my work laptop as I am an Internal Auditor who needs to be on the road a bit. I liked the look of the bag and the leather seemed to be of very good quality. However I am about 6'2" and the back pack looks a little smaller than I expected . The compartment for the laptop does not have much cushioning. The padding on the straps is quite good however after just a few trips with the laptop they are visible sings of strain where the straps attach to the top of the bag. I still think it is good backpack but I am considering giving it to my wife an getting something a little bigger and sturdier.

I ordered 2 of these bags one for each of my daughters. I had started out searching for cases with memory foam and ended up ordering these based mainly on color selection and price. There is foam on either side but they are considerably thinner than I had anticipated. They do get protect the laptops frm bumps and jars and I suppose the lighter weight can be considerd a plus for a child to carry. Being thinner I am afraid they will not protect the laptops as well as a heavier foam might have should they get hit harder or stepped on.. They aren't made well, we have had them since christmas and the rubber pull tab has come off the side zipper on one already. They don't have any loose strings, etc. yet though. Had I seen them before hand I would have opted for a more durable case with thicker more dense foam. These cases are so open inside that the foam has no need to conform to the laptops and they slip to the bottom of the case when you pick them up. Bottom line I will choose another bag next time.

I had a reversible sleeve for my 13" notebook. Perfect fit. I love those reversible as you can use it Inside-Outside. The sleeve is washable, which is a plus for me. I would recommend the product.

I have an Inspiron 13", fit nicely to my laptop. I bought the blue one. I put the notebook into the sleeve and pretty much carry it in my backpack. As we found this sleeve by searching for XPS we assumed that 13" would be good for 13.3". We were wrong! The case looks smart and comes in a wrapper that states upd to 13.3" water resistant slim fit but alas it was too small for our XPS M1330 laptop and we are having to return it. I just finished my freshman year in high school and went through two backpacks, on was an expensive Jansport (which the stap ripped) that I spent over 65 bucks on! Then I had a 40 dollar Swiss Army backpack which one of the zippers broke. But this backpack is great! It's a good size, I can fit my books, binders, and everything else in it. The downside to the bag is the material that it is made of. It is too thin and not very durable. I had a BIC pen poke a hole in the material like it was butter. Bag is good for light use only.

After searching the site for a travel bag that my teenage son would be willing to be seen with by his football buddies, we found this one! It did the job and held everything that he needed to take with him for an away game. It is sturdy and came back home in one piece. In fact he is packing it as I write for a college tour. Boblbee Megalopolis Sport Hardshell Backpack

I got one of these before there was a different "Sport" and "Executive" (or "Aero") version, but basically the "Sport" version is the same as my original Megalopolis. I was doing a lot of flying with a laptop back then and I wanted something that would protect the laptop and could be effective for carry-on. It performed well without much fuss through 15 cross-country flights, with the added Boblbee Lumbar Cassette to hold extra clothes and accessories. I am also a bicycle rider and I used this pack to commute several times a week for a year or so. I still use it almost daily today, for workout clothes and hiking and walking around the city shopping (my bike these days is a recumbent and backpacks don't really work well on it.) It's still my only backpack.

Advantages:

Flexible (as you can tell from my description above) especially with the extra accessories

Comfortable to wear, even in heat and with heavier loads

Protects contents well. Only time I've had a chance to test this, I dropped my bicycle turning onto a wet wood bridge and landed on my side and back. My laptop was fine but the impact was hard enough to crack the shell of the Boblbee, the crack being about 2" long on the corner of the shell lip. Despite this crack the backpack still performs pretty well though I don't wear it on the bike anymore, as I'm not sure it will protect as well in another fall.

Longevity. I've never had a pack that I've been able to use this long. Nine years of service!

Issues:

It's not the largest backpack or carry-on travel bag you can buy; the extra cassette attachment provides a lot more storage but it's compartmentalized and can be tricky to pack a lot of stuff for a weekend trip.

Though protective to its contents, the glossy paints on the shell can scratch if you're not careful. The color of mine is blue but the plastic under it is a slightly different blue so a scratch is visible. I suspect the matte black ones would be better for this. After 9 years there are a fair number of scratches on mine but that's to be expected.

Over the years the top cover has frayed a bit where the edges of the shell push against the top fabric, and the pocket on top actually has some small holes in it. Mostly I believe this is from handling and storage (in car boots and luggage carriers) than on-the-back usage. The other models like the Executive and Aero seem to have protection for this.

It will *not* stand up with its top up because of the shape. You'll always have to lean it against your leg or hold it up when opening and closing it. With the lumbar cassette it can potentially balance upright but it's tricky.

The zipper pulls on the lumbar cassette broke off after 6 years of occasional use (I didn't always have the lumbar cassette attached).

The sternum strap snap-close broke on me early on. That's the only fastener part that I had trouble with, all the rest of the fasteners are still functional.

The connection of the shell and the harness portions at the bottom of the bag is only a pressure fit via two large screw-bolts; that is all that keeps the bottom "sealed" so if these get loose, very small objects (smaller than a coin) can find their way out of the bag. On the other hand, if you got water in it, it would drain out the bottom.

People keep asking me if I ride a motorcycle or if it's part of a motorcycle I've turned into a backpack. A small inconvenience!

Tips:

The attachment points on the back of the pack are great even without the official accessories; any 1" or smaller strap can be attached.

Don't pack the top zipper pocket until you have the rest of the bag packed, if the main pack is stuffed full it's hard to remove and insert items in the top zipper.

Be careful walking through crowds, swift turns can result in the backpack hitting other people and it can bruise someone easily, especially the points at the bottom.

The bolts holding the fabric to the back along the rails can actually get loose over several years, but they're easy to tighten up.

This product is a very nice product, and I have been looking fot the product everywhere until I get it from Amazon.

One thing that dissapointed me was I received the product not in a very good condition with some sctracth on the hard case.

But overall, the product is doing just fine.

Oakley Mens Icon Backpack

I have bought two of these for my son in the last couple of years. They LOOK heavy duty but on the first one the shoulder straps were poorly made and the padding, stitching and material on the straps all tore or failed. This was not used for anything particularly harsh-it just couldn't handle any kind of weight due to the design. I stiched it back together but it still look kind of junky and I can't see how it could be repaired without new straps. I thought maybe I got a bad one, and my son liked it, so I bought a second one. This one has lasted about 6 months and tore in the rear near the zipper. Again it does not seem to be able to hold much of a load. I contacted Oakley to see what they would do and was told they have a 90 day warranty (I have the email so its in writing). That is not really enough, in my opinion, considering the price. Both Northface and Jansport will provide a lifetime warranty and I have gotten replacements for each over the years. I gave this two stars because overall they look great and if you dont intend to carry anything over 10lbs or so you will like it. If you are buying it as a bookbag, ex. for a student, I would keep looking. I think a $100+ backpack should do a better job, like last several years at least.

My son only used this backpack for about a month and a half, and the nylon ripped on the side. It is very poorly made. The Oakley Icon Backpack is stylish and looks good, but for $140, it should last longer than a couple of months! Unfortunately, I couldn't return it to Amazon because it was past 30 days, and when I called Oakley, they would not exhcange it because it was past their warranty period.

UPDATE on 10/15/2012 :

1.) Honestly, this has been a poor investment. The cloth covering the padding on the right shoulder strap developed a rip in the seam about 3 months in. It has not gotten much worse since then but I have been pretty careful with it. The padding did however remain in tact.

2.) Worst thing. I was on a hike when the sternum strap just broke off the guides on the strap. I was on a day hike so the bag was barely loaded. This was a real disappointment.

CONCLUSION: I can not recommend this bag anymore. It has been a thorough waste of money. It is definitely spacious but it is not durable. It needs to be babied, apparently. My .02 : Go to REI and buy a real bag.

END OF UPDATE. MY INITIAL REVIEW FOLLOWS:

So, I got this bag after much deliberation but I chose to get the turquoise blue mish mash with several other colors. I'm surprised at how non-gaudy it looks, so I'd definitely consider that one, and when I got it, it was 60 bucks cheaper than any of the other models.

Anyway, i think that this bag is extremely spacious. The straps and the part making contact with the back are padded to perfection, and as long as you have the sternum strap and waist straps on, you will barely feel a load and since I bike to campus almost everyday, about 6 miles, I think that really speaks volumes about the comfort offered by the bag. The organizer also is pretty good.

But obviously everything isn't perfect and this has it's weaknesses tooThe side sip for laptops works perfectly for me but then my laptop is 11.6 inches. I think anything over 13 will struggle with the side zip. Also, though I'm a big fan of the looks of this bag, it's a hassle to access the main compartment of the bag because you have to keep taking the top flap off. But I don't think any of these are major hassles and I think a North Face surge at the same cost isn't as much value for money as this bag and is definitely not going to be as durable, and I should know because I tried that out too before keeping this one.

I bought this backpack as a multipurpose travel and light-outdoor pack. I wanted to replace my attache case that I carried my laptop in on business trips. This bag proved to be the right choice. It is very versatile and well built. It has a compartment and side zipper for accessing your laptop. This is great when going through airport security. I have also used this pocket to store magazines or even my travel documents (boarding pass, reservations, hotel info) in during travel. The side pockets are great for your point-and-shoot camera and/or phone/ipod charger. The top pocket on the top flap is great for sun-glasses, phones, and other electronic accessories. Once you open the pack the front storage area has pockets for an ipod/phone, pens, and other electronics, and a mesh compartment for easy access accessories (I have used this pocket for sunglasses, sunscreen, bug-spray etc. There is plenty room on the inside for a small cooler, towels, clothes, or large camera bag.

Again, I have used this bag for business travel and light outdoor activities (short hiking trips, days at the beach or pool, and local excursions). I think it is great for this use and will stand up to years of use. If you are looking for more extreme outdoor activities, then I would probably look for a more activity-specific bag.

Overall, the pack is comfortable to wear and it has a lumbar strap for additional support. The external 3-point strap on the top flap may appear cumbersome; however, I happen to like it. It allows you to keep the bag small and compact with varying internal loads. The clasps come on and off very easily. The bag seems well built with quality materials. I would definitely recommend this bag.

I bought the original Icon more than 10 years ago. I still have it. It's travelled many thousands of miles of mountain biking, motorcycling and hiking. It's been to 12 countries. I replaced it with the new Icon, because it was getting kind of grubby and stinky after all those years.

The new V3 Icon has some nice features, and retains the original Icon's cool 3-clasp closure and look.

Unfortunately after less than a year of use, the bottom began to fall apart at the seams. Either the fabric is cheaper, or the stitching is crappier. But for a 1 year old bag to fall apart with not a lot of usage, whereas the 10+ year old version is still rock solid, indicates a big quality problem here.

Tumi Alpha Bravo Day Barslow Cross Body Bag

If you appreciate quality, you won't mind the price of this bag. It's a very small man-bag without much z-axis depth to it, so you'll struggle to stowe your bottle of water or whatever, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality and suitability for purpose.

If you haven't owned Tumi bags before, I imagine like me you're thinking "$165 for ballistic nylon?" While there is definitely a premium for the Tumi name I have to say the ballistic nylon this bag is made of is thick and luxurious and heavy. It's soft to the touch compared to the average camera bag and the weave is thicker. It's really quite beautiful with the leather accents, and so on. Even the strap feels more like silk than the usual nylon webbing used on cheaper bags.

The inner honeycomb-style lining is strangely soft. It feels luxurious almost like you might wrap your crystalware in it, but it's also tough and resilient. These kinds of synthetic materials are what you might expect if Tumi engineers raided Area 51.

As for the functionality... It's damned near impossible to find the perfect bag for an iPad Mini, so if you have one and are looking for a suitable bag STOP LOOKING. I bought this at the same time as the Tumi Alpha-Bravo Beale, because I was uncertain if this bag was too small. It's not. It's too small for your drink, but your iPad Mini will just LOVE it. The Beale is better for regular iPads, or if you absolutely must carry a drink bottle at all times.

The photos on Tumi's website are somewhat more useful, but even so it can be hard to see all the hidden features of a bag before buying. The most notable but easily overlooked feature of this bag is a slip pocket located on the front of the bag, under the flap. It's the PERFECT size for an iPad Mini laid horizontally. This pocket also contains pen slots etc, but happens to be just magically sized for an iPad Mini. Even if you over-stuff this bag, you can still fit the iPad mini in the front compartment vertically, and it stays nicely covered by the flap.

This leaves the bottom U-shaped pocket free for your sunglasses, while the main body can hold your other miscellany. I carry a long (travel-style) wallet with my whole life in it, and often fold up my beret and stuff it in there. It's got plenty of room for all your bits and pieces and little pockets everywhere, including a pocket in the rear compartment which seems like it was designed specifically for an earbud-case and fits the Apple EarPods beautifully.

If you're intending to wear this bag crossbody-style (recommended!) you'll absolutely love where the strap is attached to the front of the bag. They've sewn it to the inside so the bag and strap sit naturally closer to the body. It helps reduce the usual flapping around that messenger bags tend to do when you jog across the street to avoid that one weird guy nobody likes.

The strap isn't super-long, but at full extension sits just about perfectly on a broad-bodied 6'7" man. I've had longer, but I doubt many would want or need more length than that.

This and the Beale were my first Tumi purchases and I am now an instant raving fan. If for some reason you buy one of their bags and aren't completely impressed, chew me out in the comments then use the free return shipping label provided.

Highly recommended and it is perfect for everyday usage. Fits perfectly all my stuff to include if needed my regular Ipad and a perfect fit for my iPad mini.

First of all please note that this is a very small bag. It holds my glasses (with case), wallet, premium earbuds in a case, iPhone 4S, miscellaneous small items and that's about it. Usually a bag this small would have girlie written all over it not this one. The quality is what you would expect from Tumi i.e. impeccable. The zippered outer compartment can hold a pair of glasses or a smartphone. The flap covers the main compartment and an open front compartment with one cc pocket and two pen slots. The small flap is not at all intrusive unlike most bags designed for men. There is an open compartment st the back with one interior pocket big enough to hold a 4S in a Speck case.

The design of this bag is all Alpha Male. As stated it has compartments for all those odds and ends you carry around. My ipad fits snugly with padded protection. Though compact, it has room for my sunglass case (prescription) and an S95 Cannon camera. Please not the strap configuration on the bag itself. The bag always fits comfortably directly on my shoulder or slung across my body.. My son wont's one for his birth day. This is my third "man bag" , and my search for the perfect one is over. I don't carry that much on a daily basis, the bag is way bigger than I wanted or expected. This is an actual backpack for people who carry lots of books. This is not a bag for everyday use or for the city dweller going to and from on the train (this bag is bulky on your back on a crowded subway car commute) It is also realllllly difficult to use the zipper function on the big pocket; I am constantly swinging my bag from back to front to get my metro card, book, ipad, cell phone out but this bag doesn't make the transition easy. Again, this is literally a book bag.

UPDATE: only three short months later and this bag is ripping near the top zipper/eyeglass holder area. I don't even use the bag every day, and nothing more than normal wear and tear. Not worth the $60 spent.

Worth the price for sure! It's a great size, the laptop sleeve is awesome (no need for an annoying separate sleeve) and it's super high quality.

I am a junior in college and have used this backpack for one semester. It is a lot roomier than it looks! I can fit my macbook pro, two or three textbooks, notebooks, and pens/ pencils in it with no problem! I also get a lot of compliments on how it looks. It held up great for the first semester, and I'm expecting it to last me for the rest of college!

I would recommend this backpack to anyone and everyone. It's the best backpack I've ever had the pleasure of wearing. Not only does it satisfy all my backpack needs, it goes above and beyond and makes myself look 10x better. I'm not a handsome fella, but this backpack made me look like a certified hipster. If it was a lady I'd kiss her. If it was a man I'd give him a hearty handshake on a job well done. I want to be friends with this backpack, that's how good it is.

This is a really nice and sturdy backpack. The laptop sleeve is roomy and lined with felt and also padded at the bottom to cushion the computer when you set the backpack down. My son has been singing it's praises so highly that both of his brothers wanted one, too.

Tumi Luggage Dror Backpack

Purchased this backpack about a week ago in a Duty Free in South Korea. It cost me US$ 577.

I had wanted to buy this bag for over a year now. But because of its price was a bit reluctant whether I really need one that expensive.

Started using it just right after the receiving from DF counter.

It a nice backpack. Like the function that you can carry it with a handle from the tope and side.

it is very convenient.

Cons. Because it is deep, would expect to have more separate compartments.

So, if you, like me, travel with a lot of smaller objects in your backpack then be prepared to have some elastic container, so you stuff could be neatly placed and retrieved.

When buying please remember that it is a piece of luxury not a typical backpack. So it the price.

As for me, I am happy.

Almost returned it but decided to keep it for short, light overnight trips or carry-on bag for longer trips. It is nice looking & well made but too costly for its utility.

I was looking for a moderately priced backpack for a 'flashpacking' adventure in Asia. I was most excited about the carry-on size and the detachable day pack. The backpack has held up considerably well during my 6 week trek in Asia, but the daypack which I use...everyday....has started to tear at the seams. Honestly, I was expecting a little more life out of the product. Great design idea....mediocre quality.

If you are thinking about taking a nice, long backpacking trip abroad, you are probably looking for a pack like this one. I have taken it to Germany for 7 days and the UK for 23 days. I have had no trouble at all with the main pack. However, I have been working the warranty overtime with the smaller packs.

First of all whoever wrote the other review does not have to worry about the plastic connections between the main pack and the smaller pack. This is not the weakest link. I have been having terrible trouble with the seams where the straps sew into the bag. I had to have both smaller bags replaced because of this issue. The company accidentally sent me a replacement bag with the wrong type of connections (this wasn't discovered until the day I left for Germany and they did send me another replacement) and I used the bag with a bad handle on the second trip. So, I can also tell you that the fabric inside the smaller pack also separated/tore from the seam.

The company has been very good with the warranty claims and I haven't had trouble with the replacements, but I also have not taken them on a strenuous trip. The concept works very well. The bag fits comfortably on my 5'4" frame for hour-long walks to the hostel. Just make sure you put your purchase through its paces before the warranty expires.

I bought this bag for my most recent trip to Spain, where we flew in to Madrid and planned on going to various other cities via rail. The large bag holds so much, yet still fits carry on specifications. The daypack attached to it is perfect exactly what you need if you leave the main bag at a hostel/hotel and go exploring. Also on a plane, you can put the main bag up in the storage and keep your snacks/important documents/book/etc in the small bag on your lap. The straps that clip it to the main bag look a little bit flimsy, but they held as I was running for trains several times.

The only problem I would have with this bag is that although its straps are adjustable, I don't think they can fit every body type. I am pretty small (5' 0") and even though I had the straps at their tightest, the bag was still hung and wasn't fully supported on me. After a couple hours of carrying it, I could definitely feel it, so if I planned to take it hiking or something, this might not cut it for someone my size. The other thing is that it is pretty wide for a backpack. Definitely wider than my body, a bit difficult to walk around things with. Finally, the little laptop sleeve that comes with it only fits 13in laptops, so is pretty much a throwaway if you have something bigger.

Overall, the Airporter is an excellent bag and I love it!

I received the guerrilla bag and it was all that I expected. However, I returned it because it did not meet what I was looking for after I saw it. No complaints about the bag itself. Just not what I wanted.

My only concern about this bag is the latch for the smaller backpack to hook to the straps on the larger when you want to carry it in front of you. The hooks are plastic and look a bit on the cheap side. As long as the hooks don't break, I am very happy with this purchase. I have not travelled with it yet, so my review is not based on actual use.
