OGIO Knit Sleeve Bag

You would think that something called a 13 inch sleeve would accommodate a commonly-sized 13 inch laptop. Well it does not. My 13 inch Macbook Pro barely squeezes into the shape of the sleeve, and about 1/2 inch sticks out the one end, leaving it woefully unprotected.

It's too bad because this sleeve is made of a very nice, thick woven material and is very cool looking. I love the colors of it. If only it were appropriately sized for a laptop then I would keep it. It would also make for a great string bag if it didn't just have a drawstring on it and nothing else. It is really too small for much else of practical use, especially with out any type of straps or strings on it.

Ju-Ju-Be B.F.F. Diaper Bag

I didn't realize how OCD I was about organizing until I started diaper bag shopping!! I purchased so many bags over the past few years and I had issues with all of them not fitting my specific needs: either not enough compartments, or if there were compartmentsthey weren't usable sizesor they were designed to where if you actually use the pockets then one pocket would block anotherOR the diaper bags didn't have an appropriate closure, or they toppled over rather than standing-you get the picture!

Since being blessed with baby # 2 (now with a toddler and a newborn) I needed a better bag and I started my search for the perfect diaper bag all over again... but this time I happened upon the BFF and I fell in LOVE (actually I am in love with a LOT of Ju Ju Be bags, but this is my FAVORITE)!

All the good things:

* Gusseted pockets! The main compartment opens so ingeniouslyyou can see what you have and GET to anything on the very bottom without pulling everything out, or clumsily knocking items out of the bag!

* The fabric is stain resistant, teflon coated, microbial treated, and MACHINE washable!

* Lots of pockets, usable sizes, some zippered, some open, and also a large open space in the middle for awkward shaped things

* Quality metal hardware everywhere (no cheap plastic stuff): zipper pulls, d-rings, buckles, and the zipper itself is super smooth

* METAL FEET (seems so obvious, but so many diaper bags don't have themGROSS!)

* LOVE the 2 photo pocketsvery cool (my hubby also pointed out a practical yet scary benefitgood to have in the case of the un-thinkable like losing a child in public)canNOT imagine thatmakes my head hurt typing that, sorry.

* 3-way carry style (top handle, shoulder/messenger, or backpack) with fully adjustable, padded strapscool I have choices!

* 2 Thinsulate lined bottle pockets on the outside (they are not SUPER insulated, since they are not "sealed-all-the-way-around" the bottle) but do the trick at keeping things from getting hot so fast)

* Mommy pocket is well designed for today's things (can fit an iphone, reading/sunglasses, wallet, keys, lipstick, pills, and more misc)no need to dig through the kids' things to get to mine quickly and no need to carry a separate purse!

* Since there are no magnetic closures anywhere on the bag, all of my electronic devices are SAFE!!

* Love the fleece lined pocket (and placement)perfect for my slim camera, or anything else I want to protect from scratches/dings (expensive glasses)and the pocket placement is high on the bagso it is not battling the lower/full part of the bag (like not pressing against items on the inside of the main compartmentgenius)

* Can't forget the key scrunchythat is SUPER helpful! I can move my keys out of the way, to get to other things in the mommy pocket without setting them on the counter (no more losing my keys) they just hang from the pocket AND anytime I need my keys from the bagNO more diggingI pull the string!

* Memory-foam padded changing pad included-memory foam? yep, squishy and comfy! Huge lifesaver in places with super hard surfaces (like the wooden shelves on planes or the marble counter top area at Disney)!!

Now for the one disappointment:

Just like other reviews have noted:

The original design of the backpack straps were set too low on the bag which makes the bag (when worn backpack style) sag, droop and is too uncomfortable to actually wear-but that problem was rectified in 2011 made ones-but nobody advertises which model you will receive.

I ordered 2 BFF's (in 2 different prints) and crossed my fingers hoping I would receive the newer style.

I ordered Sangria Sunset from Amazon and Shadow Waltz from Little Dudes and Divas

Much afterwards, I learned that most retailers will happily check their stock for you if you ask so I would definitely suggest doing that.

Second thing I learned is that 2 prints (Sangria Sunset and Dizzy Daisies) are NOT made in the new style AT ALL because these prints are being discontinued (at least in the BFF, not sure if they will use the prints on other bags). I am bummed I can't attain one with the 'fixes' in that print (you can find this info in the ju-ju-be forum Pink Room).

Truthfully I had no idea that I would even use the BP feature, until I received the Shadow Waltz one and had the option of throwing on my back-WOW that is nicehands freeand I didn't realize how lop-sided I feel carrying a heavy bag on one shoulder tote style!

So with my Sangria Sunset one, this problem takes away ONE cool feature of the otherwise totally awesome bag. Since I cannot carry it BP style with the weight distribution causing instant back strain/discomfortI removed the B/P straps (since they are useless) but I decided to keep the bag since it is cute but mostly because it looks good with my stroller (the orange/grey city mini doublewhich is a hard one to match). Honestly, it will probably always bug me a little that my Sangria Sunset one is less than perfectand I do miss the B/P feature on it. If there was any other print that looked as cute with my stroller (with the fixes)I would exchange it in a second!

Sorry for the super lengthy/detailed review, but I hope it helps anyone that is considering this bag to know the features and other info. I have MANY different Ju Ju Be bags, and although I love them all, this is my favorite as my everyday diaper bag. It holds all of my needs for my newborn and toddler for the day.

On longer days/trips, although I considered the BePrepared, I felt it was WAY too big/heavy (when full) to actually carry (without my hubby) so I found the MightyBe to be a GREAT companion to the BFF. The MB is great for handling the "extras" (my DSLR, extra drinks, and 3 sweatshirts (me and 2 kids), coloring books/doodle boardyep in one load) for long days at Disney or long days in general. To my surprise it is easy to carry BOTH bags when I need to (BFF backpack style, MightyBe on my shoulder/tote style) although I haven't had to do it for long distances, since I attach both to the stroller for the most part. So I highly suggest picking up both bags which will give you so much flexibility, plus the MB folds TINY and FLAT which makes it cool to take with you empty and grab all of your loose goodies from the car when you get home! BFF + Mighty Be = Match made in heaven!!

Other bags I purchased for extra organizationto go INSIDE my BFF/MightyBE's are the: Fuel Cell, Be Quick, and Be Setthey are fabulousand they make my bags uber-organized!

I only wish I would have met my BFF sooner!

It is a good ju ju be bag. I am coming from owning three ju ju be bags: packabe, between, and BFF. I also own many other diaper backpacks. This is a good messenger bag and is as good as the ju ju be video describes except: The bag is flawed as a backpack. The bag will pull away from you on the top, while the bottom of the bag pokes at your spine. Because of that, the bag looks stupid and sagging in the backpack mode. I realized this is a design flaw. If ju ju be positions the top set of rings(where the backpack straps hook onto) further up/higher up, it will alleviate this problem somewhat. If you watched the ju ju be video, the demonstrator has to hold both straps with both hands to prevent the bag from sagging down. I called ju ju be about this. They said this is the first run of the BFF bags so we are the testers. They will let the design team know.

Otherwise a very good messenger bag. It's not too big or too small and has tons of pockets.

I am thinking about taking this bag to a tayler and has it altered by repositioning the top rings as high as possible. But that is going to cost extra $ for an expensive bag already!

I absolutely love this bag! Im really picky about diaper bagsand welleverything else as well. A friend of mine had a Ju Ju Be bag and I fell in love and knew I had to have one. A lot of people said this bag was bigits not. Not for me at least. I even looked for pictures online to see how big this bag was and it is smaller in person. All of my purses are big, so maybe Im used to it.

I read the one person's review who gave this one star about the whole teflon thing. I really did some research on this and found nothing about soaking particles through the skinor whatever she said. Teflon is bad when heated up. But when its used as a fabric it is a different make-up. The teflon used on pans does not break down. Teflon used on fabrics does break down. Just dont eat it, or set it on fire, and it will be fine. My own opinion of course.

The backpack part is great. I love it so much. I dont even use the shoulder strapwhich is one of the reasons I bought this. Its not bulky, and Im guessing I got one of the new ones because the hooks are at the top. I love that I can just pick in up and throw it over my shoulder. There are lots of pockets, and the mommy pocket is great. Easy access to everything. I was able to fit my regular wallet and a little bag that I keep my little stuff in like chapstick, mirror, meds, pens, etc. in there with no problem.

This bag is heavy duty, I like the feel of the fabric. GREAT for everyday use!! I just wish it was a little bigger!! I plan on having another baby, which means a toddler and babyand Im not sure how much stuff I can fit in there for two. Other than that one complaintthis bag is totally worth the money. Even when my kids are grownthis would make a great beach bag, picnic bag, day at the park, anything! To methis doesnt look like a diaper bag. This is totally woth the moneyif youre on the edge about it, just think about how long you will have this thing. Evens out in the end. :)

I love this diaper bag! For months I stubbornly believed that any diaper bag would do, so was using a basic, cheap bag for months. I finally got sick of not being able to find things and decided to look for a new bag. I love this bag and it has made life so much easier. We ordered the cobalt blossoms print, which came with the newer style backpack straps, so it works well as a backpack (straps connect at the top of the bag, just below the handle). The print is very cute, and I receive a lot of compliments. Sometimes the white does get a little dirty, but with the bag being machine washable it has not been an issue. Here is a basic overview of my thoughts on the bag:

Pros:

Mommy pocket has lots of room and pockets. 1 zippered pocket, 2 open pockets, sunglasses holder, key holder. I can fit 2 packs of gum, a small kleenex box, my full sized wallet, keys, cell phone (galaxy nexus), granola bar, few personal items.

zippered front pocket holds my small sony camera and flip camcorder. It is a soft pocket that keeps things protected

Main compartment has 4 open pockets (2 on each side, 2 at the back), and 3 zippered pockets (1 at the front, 2 at the back behind the open pockets), plus the clear pockets for pictures. Currently I have the nursing cover, 4 size 2 diapers, 2 burp cloths, 1 8-oz bottle of formula, 2 bibs, a 9-month onesie, a package of disposable dirty diaper bags (those dog-poop-like bags to hold dirty diapers), 4 small toys, and a snack container in the main compartment. I still have some extra room and can fit in a itzy-ritzy snack happens bag filled with a gerber NUK baby bowl (covered), spoon and banana.

2 insulated side pockets. I usually have a bottle on one side and a sippy cup on the other

back pocket holds the changing pad, wipe holder, disposable changing pad. I can fit more if I don't mind the pocket bulging out.

Easy to carry, fits in the basket of my chicco stroller with room to spare.

Cons:

Insulated side pockets are a little tight I need 2 hands to get the sippy cup in. Kind of annoying, but probably better than the cup falling out.

Changing pad is small about 12" wide by 21" long. It is nice and padded, but if I try to change my wiggly 7 month old on it, chances are his butt is no where near it. I usually end up putting a disposable changing pad down, and using the ju ju be changing pad as a pillow.

I AGONIZED whether to get the BFF or Be Prepared. I ended up getting both and returning the Be Prepared. Here's the deal ladies. The BFF is a little smaller than you think, and the Be Prepared is a little bigger than you think. So you have to make a choice -do you want a super cute bag that you'll want to take with you everywhere and is not a pain to lug around, but you'll be forced to pack a tiny bit lighter than you might like? OR do you want a bag where you can throw in your every whim, but it'll be heavy and look a little awkward as a messenger bag. I ultimately decided that if I got the Be Prepared, I'd probably end up wanting to leave it in the car or throw just what I need into the stroller, thus defeating the whole purpose of having everything you could possibly need with you. So I went with the BFF and I have to say I am so happy! My husband even likes it. Some of my favorite features are the handle on top, the strap (it stays put!) and the changing pad it's not too bulky just right. At first I wasn't a huge fan of the prints but now I'm loving my "fun bag" and embracing the crazineses of it (I have royal envy). The neon green inside doesn't even bother me. Now if you have multiples or cloth diapers, you will want to go with the Be Prepared .. just make sure you have a nice hubby who will carry it for you. (And get his input on the print!) :-) I hope this was helpful. I read every review/video on the planet about these bags.

Dakine Girls Over/Under Travel Bag

I didn't buy this bag through Amazon, but I have to write a testimonial anyhow. It, without a doubt, is the best bag I've ever owned. I purchased it on a super big clearance in a ski shop, for so little that I had to get it just to try it out. I thought, if it doesn't work, it doesn't matter. No money really lost.

That was five years ago. I fly about once a month, and that bag has been on every single flight. I can't believe how much it holds! It even expands to hold more! A lot more!!!

It's a clamshell, which is also nice. I can pack both sides independently. They have a zippered cover, then you close the clam shell. I've even crammed more stuff between the zippered closures. On occasion, this bag has held more than 70lbs of weight (yes, I paid a fortune in overweight luggage fees), but nothing has ever happened to it. The wheels are still perfect. The handle is still perfect. There isn't a rip in it, even though it's absolutely filthy at this point.

One day, I'll buy a new one. I keep saying I'll do so when this one finally breaks. That may take forever!

Love the organization inside. I'm a heavy packer, so I need a sturdy zippers. Love that it's water resistant and wipes clean.

All of my clothes, shoes, and toiletries fit perfectly for a 5-day trip with room to spare. I didn't have any issues with a plastic smell as others have commented on. This kid's back pack is cute to look at but is not worth the price I paid. It is cheap looking and feeling and the lunch kit is too small for a full lunch and not insulated enough to keep anything cool.

Neverthelss, my little one loves the look of the backpack and is happy that mommy was able to get it for her. Too bad the quality is not better.

My daughter love this backpack. Its actually larger than I thought it would be. She's been using it now for over a year and the quality is pretty standard.

I bought this for my 4 year old niece, she loves her backpack the only problem i have is that the lunch bag is a bit small and may have to use the side compartments on the backpack to put juice or water bottles since it cannot fit in the lunch bag, it is a beautiful bag do not know how durable it will be but looks strong enough for what a preschooler would carry to school.

I have just purchased a second one of these (jumbo model) from Amazon; I've owned another one for 10 years. These are really well made, bullet proof bags that will keep all your stuff dry unless you submerge the entire bag in water.

These bags don't have a stiff shape, so you can load them with tons of stuff. The seams are all completely watertight, and the only way water can get in is through the top zipper, which is protected by a large Velcro flap that covers the zipper, so even in driving rain, it stays dry inside. I have looked out the window of an airplane and seen my bag sitting in the rain on the tarmac, and I know my clothes will be dry when I get to the luggage carousel.

There are no dividers, no pockets, no key loops of other gadgets inside; just a giant canyon of dry storage. The bottom isn't stiff either, so when you lift from the supplied shoulder strap, the bag will tend to fold or bend a little in the middle. I usually carry the bag with the handles so it's not an issue. I have loaded it with over 50# of stuff without a problem. It will carry heavy clothes, boots, camping gear etc.

After 10 years of use in airports, buses and boats, my old bag is still going strong. Highly recommended.

Although, I love the bag itself but I was so sad when only a week after being used I tugged on the handle and the plastic joiner snapped. Grrrr. I bought four carabiners to replace the flimsy plastic pieces.

Used this to carry my clothes on the front of my little tear drop trailer. It worked fine for the first 3 weeks of my trip, even in the rain! then....................the rain turned to rain and wind and while driving clothes in the top part of the bag, that were loose, got wet. My son has been using this back pack for less than a month and both zippers have broken and there is a big hole in the bottom of the bag. My son is in 2nd grade so he does not carry much. This backpack was a birthday gift for my son... it was saved until the school year began so that he could use it, as Angry Birds are his passion. One of the main zippers broke on the first day of use, so he could only use the other zipper for it, which then broke of the 5th day of school. Fits my 15'' Macbook Pro exactly. Not too bulky, but enough padding that I feel good about having it next to other stuff in my bag. The waterproof zip-locks are sturdy (plus the extra protection of the fold over velcro) and I bet you could drop the whole thing in the bath and you'd have no problem. This is really important to me because my commute has outdoor parts (and I'm from Seattle), and I also do outdoor work that requires me to both have my computer and be out camping for weeks at a time. This is the perfect solution for protecting my investment.

The handle on the top is really handy too, in case I am taking my computer somewhere without my whole backpackI can carry it safely without clutching it to my chest like you do with a traditional laptop sleeve. Also it's red, which is a big plus since red is so awesome.

Using this with a 2012 Macbook Pro Retina 15" the long dimension fits very well. Lots of extra room on the short edge, I guess for laptops with a taller screen. With that extra space, I'm able to fit the laptop in the padded internal sleeve, as well as an iPad in its own padded case sitting on top. I like the double zip seals, very confidence-inspiring and there's a clear tactile feel and sound as they zip all the way closed. The velcro flap seal might only slow down a drenching a tiny bit, but it could help protect the zips from accidentally unzipping. I like that the interior padded sleeve is removable, as it's often unnecessary (for instance, with a bag that already has a padded sleeve). Without the padding, the waterproof sleeve is quite minimal in bulk. Mine weighed in at 5oz for the outer sleeve alone, 2oz for the padding. The color is a little more muted than in the photos here. I'd like to see some natural earth tones as well, just as an aside.

Like others, I use this for bike commuting. I strap it with bungies over the top of my Old Man Mountain Cold Spring front rack, as my panniers are a bit small for the laptop. The A-Q case fits my 12.5" thinkpad x220 perfectly. I have the TP in a case logic neoprene case (the sleeve accompanying the A-Q is mediocre and I don't use it, but that didn't downgrade my five-star review because I didn't buy this for the sleeve) and the whole thing then fits perfectly. Not too snugly, but not loose. Very good seal at top, kind of like an industrial strength zip-loc. The carrying strap is handy. Very good piece of gear.

i expected something kinda cheap. maybe something like a book bag type of ruck. i was surprised to find it looks just like the ruck i carried when i was in the army. same type of adjustable shoulder harness with the quick release straps and also made of the same lasting material. i know its supposed to be the small size, but you can fit a lot of stuff in here. a great buy for the price.

This bag is pretty awful. I usually give mail order products the benefit of the doubt. I can't see touch them or operate them so, I'm purchasing on faith. Faith that the seller is honest in their description and the product is solid and good. usually I'm not disappointed. Not so this time around. Even for the low price this bag is poorly made and designed. I've only had it 1 1/2 weeks and it's already tearing at the seam along the shoulder straps. And there are too few inside pockets, just 2 large compartments. Really... just a bad bag.

It's small, but it's great! I use it every day! It has the right amount of pockets, and it's so cheap!

I've used my old pinder bag for years. The only reason why I bought a new one is because the zipper broke on my other one after years of wear. Tumi Alpha Bravo Day Barslow Cross Body Bag

If you appreciate quality, you won't mind the price of this bag. It's a very small man-bag without much z-axis depth to it, so you'll struggle to stowe your bottle of water or whatever, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality and suitability for purpose.

If you haven't owned Tumi bags before, I imagine like me you're thinking "$165 for ballistic nylon?" While there is definitely a premium for the Tumi name I have to say the ballistic nylon this bag is made of is thick and luxurious and heavy. It's soft to the touch compared to the average camera bag and the weave is thicker. It's really quite beautiful with the leather accents, and so on. Even the strap feels more like silk than the usual nylon webbing used on cheaper bags.

The inner honeycomb-style lining is strangely soft. It feels luxurious almost like you might wrap your crystalware in it, but it's also tough and resilient. These kinds of synthetic materials are what you might expect if Tumi engineers raided Area 51.

As for the functionality... It's damned near impossible to find the perfect bag for an iPad Mini, so if you have one and are looking for a suitable bag STOP LOOKING. I bought this at the same time as the Tumi Alpha-Bravo Beale, because I was uncertain if this bag was too small. It's not. It's too small for your drink, but your iPad Mini will just LOVE it. The Beale is better for regular iPads, or if you absolutely must carry a drink bottle at all times.

The photos on Tumi's website are somewhat more useful, but even so it can be hard to see all the hidden features of a bag before buying. The most notable but easily overlooked feature of this bag is a slip pocket located on the front of the bag, under the flap. It's the PERFECT size for an iPad Mini laid horizontally. This pocket also contains pen slots etc, but happens to be just magically sized for an iPad Mini. Even if you over-stuff this bag, you can still fit the iPad mini in the front compartment vertically, and it stays nicely covered by the flap.

This leaves the bottom U-shaped pocket free for your sunglasses, while the main body can hold your other miscellany. I carry a long (travel-style) wallet with my whole life in it, and often fold up my beret and stuff it in there. It's got plenty of room for all your bits and pieces and little pockets everywhere, including a pocket in the rear compartment which seems like it was designed specifically for an earbud-case and fits the Apple EarPods beautifully.

If you're intending to wear this bag crossbody-style (recommended!) you'll absolutely love where the strap is attached to the front of the bag. They've sewn it to the inside so the bag and strap sit naturally closer to the body. It helps reduce the usual flapping around that messenger bags tend to do when you jog across the street to avoid that one weird guy nobody likes.

The strap isn't super-long, but at full extension sits just about perfectly on a broad-bodied 6'7" man. I've had longer, but I doubt many would want or need more length than that.

This and the Beale were my first Tumi purchases and I am now an instant raving fan. If for some reason you buy one of their bags and aren't completely impressed, chew me out in the comments then use the free return shipping label provided.

Highly recommended and it is perfect for everyday usage. Fits perfectly all my stuff to include if needed my regular Ipad and a perfect fit for my iPad mini.

First of all please note that this is a very small bag. It holds my glasses (with case), wallet, premium earbuds in a case, iPhone 4S, miscellaneous small items and that's about it. Usually a bag this small would have girlie written all over it not this one. The quality is what you would expect from Tumi i.e. impeccable. The zippered outer compartment can hold a pair of glasses or a smartphone. The flap covers the main compartment and an open front compartment with one cc pocket and two pen slots. The small flap is not at all intrusive unlike most bags designed for men. There is an open compartment st the back with one interior pocket big enough to hold a 4S in a Speck case.

The design of this bag is all Alpha Male. As stated it has compartments for all those odds and ends you carry around. My ipad fits snugly with padded protection. Though compact, it has room for my sunglass case (prescription) and an S95 Cannon camera. Please not the strap configuration on the bag itself. The bag always fits comfortably directly on my shoulder or slung across my body.. My son wont's one for his birth day. This is my third "man bag" , and my search for the perfect one is over. Did I mention it's a Tumi, quality doesn't come any better than that.

I ordered this for a 13" MacBook as it says "up to 13.3", but it is for a NET-book! When I returned it to Amazon, they said they fixed the label and sent me.....the same thing again!

Really wanted a neoprene case with simple handles and there aren't many. Too bad I bought before first reviewer posted because they're right. There's no way my 13.3 macbook will fit. And it's advertised to work for that size. Not sure of the thickness of the neoprene, but it's pretty thin.

I purchased this sleeve to protect and transport my Acer W500 Tablet, keyboard, power adapter and stylus, and YES they all fit in there just fine. The tablet is 10.1 inches. There is an inside pouch where you can store all your accessories. So, if you have a tablet that size it should fit just fine. I love the color too.

This bag has all the features that a traveling professional would need. Not only is it lightweight and constructed from a durable material, but the handles and straps make for a comfortable carry on the go. There are 3 main pockets, the very front is for carrying small items and has an insulated liner for drinks. Only smaller drinks would fit here. The middle pocket can be used for just about anything, and the main pocket is constructed perfectly for a 17" or smaller laptop. The only drawback with this item is it seems to be constructed only for work purposes. I have been using the bag to carry my soccer equipment and I find myself struggling to fit everything inside. Very nice item!

This bag is great for carrying a 17" laptop and books for a few classes. Last semester I took three classes and it fit all my books with no problem. Taking a full load this semester and it will not accomodate all the books needed so I may have to go with a rolling catalog case. Going to class with a couple of drinks and snacks saves me money from having to hit the concessions or the vending machines so the insulated pockets are outstanding. Love this bag! I gave it four stars because after half a year of use I'm noticing the right strap is starting to fray a little bit. Nothing drastic.

I like the bag but there are several things that annoy me for this laptop. First, it is a bit wide. Second, I have no use for the metallic foil section that it used "I think" to keep food warm. I did have some problem with airport security because of this foil compartment. It is reasonably priced and quite tough.

I bought this bag almost ten years ago (in orange) and it has lasted flawlessly until now.

I have used this bag for many years of college, and I'm sure the only reason it has started to wear out is that (as a law student) I often carry 40-50 lbs of books in it and pack it to the max.

I'm buying it again because the zipper on my current bag is finally starting to give out (after much abuse) and the cushions on the straps are finally starting to give out.

This bag has all kinds of useful compartments and a separate protected slot for laptops.

Tip: if you have a slim case for your laptop, you can can just cut/rip out the protective cushion area intended for the laptop and get a LOT of additional bag space. That's what I did.

Warning: when this bag is packed to the max, it looks pretty huge. So if you're looking for a small backpack that makes you look cute, this is not it. But if you're interested in having an extremely durable bag with tons of space and lots of uses, this is the one.
