This is so close to being a great bag that it is frustrating.

If you are using this to lug stuff around at home for work or school, you could frankly get the same functionality cheaper. If you really want this for plane and train travel, then this is a compromise.

Pros:

1) It has good handles and converts to a backpack

2) Conversion is easy enough

3) Using as backpack reasonably comfortable (I am 50yrs old , 5 ft 2 and 110 lbs, so that gives you some idea that is is not just comfortable for strapping young athletes). You are not going to want to do any hiking or long walks, but if you have anything else to wheel and this on your back (or terrain where wheeling is impractical or lost of stairs) you can tolerate this.

4) Also has built in place on the back to go over the handle of another suitcase with a handle, so it is very flexible.

5) Laptop compartment ok wasn't really enough padding, but there WAS padding in one of the other compartments you can use. Convenient to get laptop in and out at checkpoints

6) Durable (I travel internationally 4-5 times a year and domestically about 5-10 times per year) it has held up well for a year, although the handle is starting to go now.

Cons:

1) The handle is too short, even for me. Also not adjustable at all.

2) The compartments are all organized in a weird way. It sounds like I am being picky, but this will really grate on your nerves trust me. There is a lot of empty space in the bottom angled back that you can stuff things into but only if you REALLY stuff them. This is inconvenient, you can't find or access your items and everything is mushed.

3) There is a lot of wasted space around the handle. This is a shame with a small plastic divider, you could easily fit cords, chargers, umbrella and other small or narrow items and that wouldn't add much weight to the design.

4)It is pretty heavy when empty (the SAKS is much lighter when empty).

5) it fits in overhead bins on larger planes but NOT on some puddle jumpers it should do according to the measurements, but it simply does not.

5) The pockets in front are kind of useless. The bag is so funnel shaped that what seems like good organization and useful features turn out to be squished and not usable.

6) Does not fit as much stuff as it size would indicate because of the shape. You MIGHT manage to stuff your jacket in there with your kindle and phone charge etc, but you would never be able to wear it.

It doesn't seem like an impossible request to have luggage that can actually travel. Wheels are great, but not on stairs. If you travel by limo ( in which case someone else is carrying your bag) you don't need these things, but if you have to take a shuttle, train, get to long term parking, move about a campus or city once you reach your destination then we need to be actually mobile. We need shoulder handles and backpack straps people.

I got this backpack as a gift from my sister and I can't say enough how happy I am with it. I fly a lot for work and I also walk to work a mile a day. Whether I wear is as a backpack or roll it behind me it is a breeze to use. Prior to owning this pack, I had to lug around an uncomfortable laptop case provided by work that was really killing my back.

It fits a 15" dell with room to spare, it can fit quite a bit of things and fit in the overheads in small jets. It is simply perfect for me. My coworker bought one 2 weeks later seeing how awesome it is.

I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am with my backpack. It's for college and it took many hours of researching to find the bag that was perfect for me. It has lots of compartments, is built more sturdy than any bag I've ever seen, and is so stylish looking! I can't wait to use it this week for school! It fits my laptop, has padded straps, padded compartments and inline skate wheels so it rolls like a dream! I bought this as a computer case for my work laptop. The handle is padded (a LOT), which makes it easy to carry when I'm not rolling it on the wheels. It was inexpensive yet rugged. While I wouldn't use it in an overhead bin, it is great for traveling between home and office.

Dakine 20-Litre Garden Pack

I have a prom Dakine backpack and was so happy with it I chose to purchase the Garden Pack when looking for a larger backpack for vacation. This bag is great and has useful and well thought out storage compartments. The straps are soft and do not cut into my shoulders even if what I am carrying is relatively heavy. Highly recommend all Dakine products. My only complaint about this pack is that the sunglasses pocket does not seem to be made of of the same super soft material as my Dakine Prom. It still has the sunglasses pouch, the material it is made out of just seems somewhat cheaper.

It came in quickly, was exactly as described... It's a little small, but it fits all of my school stuff.

This backpack was perfect my stature and size. Also it was not bulky. The only limiting factor is that I can foresee is that one cannot carry many books (more than 3 textbooks maximum), which is just fine with me. It has just enough space to allow me to comfortably carry my books and supplies to my classes. So far (over the past couple of months) it has held up well through hiking trips, school books and supplies, and biking escapades.

I wanted a backpack for traveling and day trips instead of a purse and this one is perfect. I carried it around NYC with two water bottles in the mesh pockets, an ipad, makeup etc. It was super comfortable because of the width of the straps and easy to dig through. It's smaller and more stylish then a typical school type pack.

Built NY 17" Laptop Sleeve - Navy Blue

At first, this thick neoprene sleeve would not fit my new Toshiba Satellite P205-S6337 17 inch laptop. After working with it, and stretching it for almost thirty minutes, I was able to get it in and zip it. The next day it was easy to remove the sleeve and MUCH easier to reinsert the laptop the second time around. I have not noticed any stitch breakage yet-and would recommend this item if you want a really snug fitting sleeve that won't allow any movement of the laptop inside.

Update: After owning and using the sleeve for 6 weeks now, I am very happy with it. The laptop slips in and out easily, while still allowing no movement inside (so no scratches). Even though the sleeve has stretched enough to allow easy usage, the stitching remains secure-with no breakage!

This case fits my MacBook Pro 17" quite well. There is about an inch of extra space at the top, but that's no problem.

This is a very well engineered product. The hourglass shape holds the laptop securely, and the ribbed indentations on each side make it very comfortable to hold even a fairly heavy laptop in one hand.

My only complaint is that the case isn't padded enough on the bottom. It would have been easy to add a layer of padding, and this would make the case perfect for carrying a laptop in a backpack. There was enough room for me to line the bottom with some styrofoam, but that slides around a little and so might expose the computer if I'm not wary.

Still, overall a fine product.

The Bumble Collection Erica Carryall

This is a good option for moms who want good quality, stylish diaper bags, but don't want to spend a fortune. The fabric is nice, looks and feels more luxurious than it looks online. I was concerned it wouldn't fit all my necessities (for my toddler and newborn) but it did, with room to spare! And I tend to over pack and over stock, so it's great. I think the shape of the bag allows for roomier space inside. I never use that velcro changing set thing. I just keep it inside the bag as part of the inside organizer. I think the biggest complaint would be the 2 external pockets on the ends of the bag for bottles...I just wish they were slightly bigger. Since I use the Philips Advent bottles for my babies...they are wider, so bigger pockets would nice to have. Slimmer design bottles like Dr. Browns, etc. would fit just fine.

Be aware -some of the photos of the exact same bag style, but different designs...will show a matching pacifier pouch. Although the Yellow Filagree design photo didn't show the pacifier pouch...I assumed it was included, but it's not. I called the manufacturer after receiving the shipment to verify, and they said they used to come included, but stopped that in the Fall of 2011. So now you have to buy it separate.

I was really disappointed I liked the color, and I looked long and hard for one I liked. I thought that this was expensive, but my husband convinced me to get it. First, the pad that is the "included changing pad" is not. It is a piece of cardboard covered with fabric, AND pockets. So, when it is attached, you fill the pockets, but if you want to use it as a changing pad, you have to remove everything from the pockets! Also, the top is closed by two zippers, and a "handle". Its not easy to do with one hand, at all. However, I would have still given it 4 stars, because it has plenty of pockets, and I can make a changing pad. However, I used it for less than a month, and the stitching along the inside ripped open, and there is a big hole! I think it is a shame for the price that I paid!!

I bought this bag last december when I purchased my HP Livestrong Laptop. The bag is not one of the best out there. You can get much better bags from competitors (Targus etc) with better feature sets. As I am a student, the bag has not withstood the rigours of my student life and already the seems are bursting on the side exposing the low quality workmanship.

The padding at the back is nice though especially when I am biking around. The side pockets on the outside are nice as you can store the power supply, PDAs etc in them so that they do not scratch the laptop or books inside.

Overall, it is not worth the price you pay for it. I would rather buy something better next time around for the same price.

I got 2 of these for my kids in October, ages 16 and 11, and both of them starting breaking after less than a couple months of daily use. My son's top strap snapped after one month, then one of the arm straps unraveled. My daughters zippers broke in several places, and the same top handle and arm straps are starting to unravel as well. I bought them because of the 4 star rating and lifetime guarantee. I am beginning to doubt the validity of the star rating system, since I bet few people come back to comment after these back packs are in tatters.

Timbuk2 Hidden Swig Backpack

The Hidden Swig Backpack is ultra light and ultra compressible. It folds down to about the size of a HP 12C calculator and weighs so little it is barely noticeable when carried unloaded (see the Customer Images above to get a look at the scale and for a comparison to the Hidden Messenger Bag). When unfolded, the total capacity is a little less than a standard paper grocery bag. In theory it looks like a great way to always have a backpack available, even when you're trying to keep yourself unencumbered.

So what's not to like? Well, there are two things to keep in mind if you're looking at this backpack. First, the primary design consideration was to minimize bulk and weight. As such, the shoulder straps are unpadded, basic nylon, there's no waist strap, and the fabric is very thin and gossamer-like. This is not a backpack for serious outdoor use or for carrying heavy loads. Second (and this is the significant flaw), the top of the bag needs a drawstring with a cord lock. Since the backpack has very little structure or stiffness on its own, the top of the bag gapes open under partial loads. Yes, the opening is covered by the main flap but this pack would be a lot better if Timbuk2 provided a way to close the top securely.

Bottom line: with a drawstring, the Hidden Swig Backpack would be a 4-star product. I do like its extreme compactness and light weight. So, 3-stars for the current design.

I needed a light weight "slack pack" and this will fill the bill ... plus doubling as a "stuff sack". But light weight comes at a high price.

Dora the Explorer Map & Plush Backpack PURPLE

We were worried after reading the negative reviews of dangerous chemicals... but this back pack is wonderful. I cannot find this warning others speak of inside her bag. There is no odor with the bag. It is lined with a thin nylon type material that should be great for cleaning up messes. It is big enough for my daughter to fit her light-weight blankie, small stuffed animal, snacks and a few small toys in. She also keeps unfolding the map, pretends to study it and puts it away again. So cute! We are very pleased.

I bought this for my 21 month old granddaughter, who loves to watch Dora the Explorer. She loves "backpack and map" and shows it to the tv screen when Dora is on. Very cute toy, well made also. Worth every penny =)

I just received my pack in the mail earlier of Friday on-time and undamaged...Unfortunately my favorite color of 'Tac-Black', was out of stock which really disheartened me, but it happens with high-demand and business...[sarc] What's with that anyway?, lol...I been shopping for tactical-gear for 6 {give-or-take} years: and the only color always in stock was Black compared to ACU, Digital Woodland, Coyote-Tan, and so on---even O.D was selling more than Black...and now recently when I go to purchase Black., it is the only color sold-out., hahaha...

So the seller was kind, prompt, and courteous enough to either give me a full refund, or, switch color patterns... and since everywhere I looked on Amazon and off., these packs were going out of stock...I was left with ACU., Digital-Woodland., Tan., and OD to choose from...I cannot stand ACU or Tan., and thus was left with OD and Digi-Woodland...Both of these colors I was weary of., especially O.D which on a vest years ago came as bright "Lime-Green" and not true OD...So I decided on the Digital-Woodland pattern., and the seller was courteous to send it out with no extra charge...I have been sweating it in anxiety waiting for this pack., and today I received it and I was shocked when I opened the box and found this huge pack compacted into a small box---because it is huge[the pictures don't do it justice to the size]...And I must say: for the first time owning a product with the (Digital-Woodland) pattern---I like it!, even more than the previous standard Woodland pattern(s) it replaced...(Digital-Woodland) from my observation: works excellent in complexion-makeup with my Black & Traditional-Woodland BDU's [I like mixing my camo patterns up for a unique-individual guerilla style/feel]...It will as well for Coyote-Tan, Tac-Brown, OD, etc, uniforms and vest/carriers...

I was trying to decide between this pack., and the (Voodoo Matrix) pack... I am glad I went with this one!, and saved some money for other things I needed... This pack., by [Fox-Tactical]!, is simply the best tactical-survival pack on the market...It's roomy and large[a true 3 day pack., some say 3 day but might get a 1-2 days into it]..As well in being built with massive (M.O.L.L.E) webbing on the outside + sides + back & on the shoulder straps., which is why I purchased this pack as my (Maxpedition Condor II) was to small despite being Level.III rating...There are 6 compartments in question., with 3 of them being the 1 large + 2 medium., and each compartment has its own extra accessory/utility compartment-pouches within that for item-placement...You have your large main zippered compartment., and then a medium zippered compartment in front of that., and then a medium zippered Hydration & Storage compartment in the very back facing your back...And then you have a rectangular zippered pouch on the bottom below the medium front compartment., and two small accessory-utility pouches with 1 on each outer side---all with (M.O.L.L.E) webbing for additional gear...

The quality of the material is well stitched for being durable and strong., yet in-being light, thin, flexible, soft, expandable, etc... I searched all over for any loose strings and nothing...I loaded my gas-mask pouch., and recon butt-pack., two 40mm grenade pouches., my dump pouch., and MOLLE fanny-pack onto it---with still some room to spare elsewhere...and of-which combined., the added pouches gave few pound noticeable weight added to the pack... and then I with decent force: I violently shook the pack in the air all over and everything was flapping around without any tear in the webbing or material---so this put me at ease in feeling this pack will hold up under pressure when fully loaded and put under physical scrutiny... One of the initial reasons I was weary of this pack., after reviewing on You-Tube: was statements regarding the supportive "waist-band/strap/padding" not being removable---but only fixed to the pack itself...another fact., was my weariness of the waist-strap/band/belt in sizing to fit different waist-girths: fearing if being a fixed waste-strap and to small---that I would've had to modify it to fit me [and I am running low on surplus material, lol]...Luckily that weariness was out to rest...

Not only is the 'waist-strap/belt/band/pad' adjustable up to about size 60" inch waist/stomach/mid-section...But the entire waist-belt is removable altogether {at least on this Fox-Tactical version} from the pack., and is held only together by Velcro fastening within an enclosed padded region near the bottom...Simply un-velcro the waist-belt system and pull it either way outside of the enclosed belt-loop., and it's off...So this pack without a doubt will fit say up to 3xl-4xl larger sized people easily., with and without the belt-band/waist-strap pad...

The zippers on the pack are pretty good quality as well., thick and hard yet still easily unzip-able., and feel they wont rip, snag, or break loose, etc...There are actually 3 zippers on each compartment., giving variety of methods of opening and closing the pack., which is a nice feature., especially in case one of them do break...

And as you can see from pictures I uploaded...I modded a suspension support system for my MOLLE fanny-back attached on the lower compartment., with some extra cut-up Nylon webbing and quick-release buckles., and some snap buttons cut-off from my old (OE-Tech OTV) plate-carrier deltoid/upper-arm protectors...and fixed-attached via weaving with some plastic strap-loop clips on the bottom MOLLE row on the pack below my butt-pack---so all I have to do is use the quick-release buckles to access the bottom pack compartment...The problem I had was the fanny-pack was flopping around everywhere and clinking and clanking., like a cowboy on a horses saddle...I feared this would possibly tear the MOLLE webbing., stitching., and actual pack-material itself if loaded and put under pressure flapping around uncontrollably like that...So now that problem is alleviated by utilizing the pack itself as a support-chassis to enhance the stability of the fanny pack from shifting all over the place., from top-too-bottom and side-too-side and every way in-between., and doing catastrophic damage to the backpack: as well getting snagged on things., and allowing me more weight-capacity to be added...

The only other problem I had with this pack., was simply the plastic back-support piece which contained a long thin supportive sheet of steel from top-too-bottom in length down the middle., which bent in half [and my pack bent along with it and non-straightening] like a pyramid shape., and only after about 25 minutes of carefully inch-by-inch tugging it out---did I decide to leave the plastic back-support sheet out for good., to be replaced by another hydration blatter in the nylon velcroed plate-sheath...

All-and-All!, I am extremely pleased with this pack., of-which is based on Voodoo's (Tobago) pack...Next month I was planning on purchasing a (Voodoo-Matrix) pack., but I might just get another one of these in Black if it's in stock., or another Digi-Woodland if not...This as of now is my 'Munitions-Combative-Survival' pack., to be worn with my plate-carrier...My (Maxpedition Condor II) pack will now be my 'survival-only' pack which I will use to build my bug-out bag for Food, Water, Misc-Electronic Items[power-cords, extra batteries, etc], Medical-Aid, etc, and so on...The pack next month will be used for everyday luggage of items such as clothes, music player, hydration, etc...This a fantastic pack., and in my opinion: no better., if few., ones on the market from what I see...you cannot go wrong with it for the price-too-performance, size capacity, modular adaptability, etc...

My first impression of the Targus Corporate Traveler Notebook Case is that it is designed and constructed very well.

The idea behind the Corporate Traveler's design is that it zips down across the center to let the case open like a clam shell, isolating your notebook on one side and all your accessories and files on the other. This allows the case to pass through TSA's scanner without having to remove the laptop from the case. I travel quite a bit with my notebook, and this feature really comes in handy when I'm fumbling through the airport's check-in process.

The ballistic nylon construction and Targus' SafePort Air-Cushion padding system provide great protection for my 15" Powerbook. The padding is also adjustable, which allows for a snug fit for smaller notebooks. This case features heavy-duty zippers with metal pulls and a very comfortable non-slip shoulder strap that has metal clips as well. Additionally, the carrying handles are wrapped in leather so the case feels very comfortable in my hands.

There are a lot of compartments in this case which afford more than enough space for my laptop's accessories and personal items when I travel. There is an accordion-type section that can easily house quite a bit of paperwork. (I was able to fit a book and a newspaper, along with some other paperwork.) Next to it is a small, zipped pocket for smaller items like a phone, PDA or an MP3 player. There is a zip-down compartment (Targus calls it a workstation) that has pen loops, a business card holder, and a clip for keys. There are also smaller compartments with velcro flaps for other accessories, and there's even a small zipped compartment for loose change. On the outside of the case is a fairly large pocket that can hold things that require immediately access, like a boarding pass or a passport.

Overall, I think this is a great notebook case. It is very well-constructed and even though it's fairly light, it feels very sturdy. Aside from traveling, I use this case on a daily basis, transporting my laptop to and from work. It replaces a Kensington Laptop BackPack, and although Targus' case is similar in size, it holds quite a bit more than the backpack. I highly recommend this case.

I've got to say that this is a well made bag. The design is such that the bag folds open and you can "in theory" not have to take your laptop out of the bag going through the XRay at the airport.

Let's start with the bag. You've got a very large and well padded laptop pouch. I think that you can really drop this bag from table height and your laptop would be very well protected. The bag itself is well constructed ballistic nylon (or so it appears) and is quite sturdy. Handle is well made. And it comes with the shoulder strap of course. The other half of the bag consists of a smallish compartment for papers and batteries.

I would say that this would be great for a corporate traveler who is doing short jaunts or for someone who doesn't have a ton of accessories. But by the time I threw in my laptop, charger, iPod, charger, extra battery pack, mouse, pens, business cards and the rest of my crap, I really filled the other side. Then after shoving in business papers and a book, it was stuffed. So, if you travel light, it's great.

As for the other matter of getting through the airport, I've only taken two trips. One time, no problem. The other time, security still wanted the laptop out of the bag. So I don't know if every airport will require you to take it out or not.

From the outside this may seem like your average laptop case. It is made of nylon, fits up to 15.4 widescreen laptops and has features that are standard like a file folder storage compartment and a trolley strap (quite handy when traveling) in a black and elegant design. It also has a zip down workstation with enough space where you can fit many (if not all) the accessories you may have for your laptop.

What makes this product different is the "zip-thru" design, an enhancement in which the case opens right by the middle isolating the laptop from the accessories. This comes handy when traveling, as when passing through the airports x-ray scanning areas you will no longer need to remove the computer from the case, if you've been there you know how it is. Well, that's the competitive advantage this case has over others. Another nice thing it has is what they call the "Safeport" air cushion system, these are polyurethane pillows that surround the laptop protecting it from both side and vertical impacts.

This is a huge upgrade from my old laptop case and I am very happy with it. Keep in mind that the main advantages it offers are for people who constantly travel and pass through customs in the airports. Having that in mind, I highly recommend this item.

This high-quality bag replaces my previous cheaper bag which has served me well but wasn't the best to travel with.

First off, the Targus Zip-Thru case is quite a big larger (taller) than I expected. My Dell D610 fits easily with ample room to spare. The air cusions on the bottom and sides seem very well built.

The file compartment can take a full ream of paper, which is great for folks like me who travel with lots of handouts.

One of the most impressive features is the oversized and very comfy shoulder strap. It's probably one of the best and most comfortable I've ever seen on any bag.

The front panel, for accessories, has plenty of pockets for just about anything. I travel with a LOT of accessories including cables, adaptors, and the power adaptor. Everything fit quite well.

For someone who is looking for a step up from the average $20-30 bag, and especially someone who wants to save a little time at TSA and protect their laptop better, this is a great choice.

I was skeptical about the TSA and how they'd react to this kind of bag, but if you search on TSA's website you'll see they've authorized it as of August 2008.

I don't know what else is on the market, but I'm quite happy with this one.

This bag is too big to fit under an aisle seat of a Boeing 737, which makes it pretty useless for me. I wish I'd known that before buying it. The zip-thru feature works pretty well. Some features are not thought through very well. There is no dedicated storage for the AC adapter that all laptop users carry with them. If you carry anything with a cord in the outer zip pocket, and you also keep pens in the pocket's pen holders, the cord will get tangled up with the pens. The materials and construction seem good and sturdy.

I've been a fan of theirs for a while, now. This bag does not disappoint. On the back is a hard shell exterior to protect your inside compartment. Inside is a vibrant green for aesthetics. There's a large pocket to fit your iPad, even with a case on it! There are two other pockets (a medium size and small size) and three pencil/pen slots. On the other side of the interior, you have a two large mesh pockets accessed via zipper. Next is the large laptop compartment, cushioned nicely to protect your electronics! Finally a small pock for quick-access essentials. The front is a padded mesh which is very comfortable. This could also be used as another additional storing space but probably not recommended unless it's a slim folder since it sits directly on your back. i hate paying forty dollars for anything, but this LOOKED like by far the best deal for a portable hard bag, and i just got it and it IS(im pretty sure). i wanted something hard to put my macbook in bc im super paranoid bc all my work is on it. I did have to slide the straps past the zipper to make it snug enough, but it really wasn't an issue for me. Security was also an issue for me...not only does this bag snap in front (corner to corner), but it also has a zipper all the way across the top.
