Timbuk2 Sycamore Laptop Backpack

I was looking for something a little smaller than Timbuk2's Uptown and Q Laptop bags and the Sycamore seemed to fit the bill. No local retailers carried it so I went by the Amazon description. The bag in person is very well made and sharp looking to boot. It's a little basic in that it doesn't have the many nook and cranny pockets that the Showdown, Q Laptop and Uptown have, so I simply use a Cocoon Grid It (http://www.amazon.com/Cocoon-CPG10GY-GRID-IT-Organizer-Inch/dp/B002T0HRVY) to keep the small items I carry organized.

The built in organizer faces the back of the pack, which takes getting used to and it means that anything bulky you put in there is going to catch on anything you want to slide into that pocket, so you have to look carefully when you slide anything into that pocket -this is where I put the Grid It, facing that pocket so that I just have to locate the Grid It and slide papers or folders behind it to avoid it catching. But, the simpler answer in my opinion would be to have had the built in organizer more comprehensive, with more pockets and zipaways, and facing the front of the pack.

That one design quibble is why I knocked off a star, otherwise this bag is superb and well worth the price.

I use this bag daily for carrying my laptop bag and forth to work. It is definitely lighter than my previous bag which I like. The laptop section is a little tight for the laptop, but so far it hasn't been a problem taking it in and out.

It's a good case. Has somewhat a slim profile. I ordered from TigerDirect and I received a 16" version. I'm guessing that's the only one out now. I would have liked a 15.6" version but there's not too many of them out right now it seems. The case does have magnets on the sides to keep the top flap pinned to the case. Though I verified with Targus that they've done testing and it will not harm the laptop's components. Overall I think it's an attractive case, though I wish it would have come in a smaller version.

EDIT: I've tried it, and it does fit the laptop quite nicely, because of the inner cushion piece.

This is not a bad product, especially for the price. I picked mine up for about $25 delivered, so no real complaints. Well, maybe one or two. I think I would have prefered a zipper style closure for the main compartment, over the flap style this one has. It can be a bit cumbersome having to pull the flap off and over just to get to the laptop. Secondly, this one lacks a top handle, which means that you have to sling this baby over your shoulder anywhere you take it. Sometimes that can be annoying. But like I said, for what I paid, I'm pretty satisfied. Perfectly fits my Gateway NV53 15.6" widescreen laptop.

High Sierra Freewheel Wheeled Book Bag Backpack

I bought this backpack for my 14 year old son who walks a mile to and from school daily. However, due to the amount of textbooks that he drags around, I thought this one would suit him well based on the reviews. He was having back problems from carrying the backpack on his shoulders everyday.

Unfortunately, this backpack didn't hold up as well as I thought it would. The screws of the handle fell off so the top of the handle came off. I had to find some replacement screws which was not an easy task. About 3 weeks later, the entire handle just snapped off which defeated the purpose of my spending the amount of money that I did.

I am quite disappointed as he only used this backpack for about 4 months so in a sense, it wasn't worth the amount of money spent.

This is exactly the backpack/airport roller I was looking for to support me during a recent trip to Central Asia which is not exactly the easiest place to travel through. However, this little gem helped me through the entire way!

At first I was a bit concerned because one of the zipper pulls was broken. Amazon quickly sent me a replacement backpack though, and I attribute the flaw to random bad luck, because all of the other zipper pulls seem quite resilient.

This backpack rolls smoothly through the airport. The wheels are well balanced and smooth, and the backpack is sturdy enough to accommodate a heavy load while rolling (without scraping the ground). It has space for everything you need including a nice space for a laptop which can be easily removed and replaced while going through security. It held up like a rock in the airport!

The second test of this backpack is how it performed as a daypack while touring around Central Asia. Bottom line it was perfect. While it is slightly more awkward and a bit heavier than some daypacks due to the wheels and its sturdy construct with an extendable handle for rolling, it proved easy to lug around on my back with all the items I would need throughout a day of touring on foot. It breathed nicely between my back and the pack itself. It was easy to put on and take off. And the great thing is that if I ever wanted to stop carrying the load on my back, I could hold it by the handle, or simply roll it along.

I recently purchased this product because I had approximately 40 pounds of books and such to lug around. There is plenty of space it rolls easily and stands upright without feeling like it wants to tip over. I definately helps instead of messing up your shoulders trudging a ton of stuff around. The front pockets are a little tight but very manageable. It has everything i want or thought I did BUT. I have been using this product for about 2 months. Maybe this is nit picking but the wheels which seem sturdy, are made of hard plastic and they are LOUD on the pavement. It just gets louder and louder to you everyday. I am going to try to put some of the rubber bands like you could find on brocolli around the wheels to quiet them down a smidge. I

This was just what I expected! Saw this in the stores for double the price I got it for here. Arrived as promised and obviously brand new. My daughter absolutely loves it. I was looking for a replacement to my everyday messenger bag and really wanted one with an adequate phone compartment. What definitely sold me on this item was the pocket shoulder strap. It's padded for comfort but it keeps my phone where I can see it and not in some side pocket on the bag. The strap pocket is big enough to carry the average sized smartphone. There are also 2 smaller side pockets and a mesh for other stuff like a water bottle. If you like dozens of compartments though you might not like this bag. In total there really is only 5 compartments (including the shoulder strap). The two larger main pockets are right on top each other which is a bit awkward. and the capacity isn't the kind you can carry lots of stuff and a laptop. I wish there was an inner pocket in the main compartment but it gets the job done and the clip on both sides makes it easy to switch the way you might wear it over the shoulder. In all a comfortable medium sized messenger bag that can adjust to the way you like to wear it.

OGIO - Mastermind Backpack

I can't vouch for this seller but I've carried an OGIO Mastermind backpack every day for the past 4 years, loaded to capacity with electronics, laptop, tablet, folders, files, books and magazines. I served on the board of an international philanthropic association and traveled across the globe with this backpack, and it spent many days stuffed in an overhead bin or on the floor under the seat in front of me. It was flawless the first couple of years but eventually the zipper broke on the top compartment that I opened and closed the most, so I replaced it with a new one from the fabric store for $5. When the base finally wore paper thin from sliding back and forth in airline bins, auto trunks, and racks on the bus, I glued a piece of black vinyl onto it for another $5 and hand stitched the edges. After 1200+ days of constant use, the fabric around the main straps is starting to let go from the strain and there's no simple fix. So, my long term experience has been very positive.

I just purchased a different backpack only because it offered a TSA-friendly design so it's no longer necessary to remove the laptop from the bag when I fly. But, even though it's the same size, the alternative design holds about 20% less stuff, and it's not nearly as handy to get to. For my needs, the numerous pockets inside and out of this OGIO Mastermind made it a joy to use and let me keep a lot of stuff [like international outlet adapters] permanently stored in the backpack so I could grab it and head out without worrying about repacking these items for each trip.

For convenience and versatility, it would be hard to find a better design.

I bought this right before a long trip and it's turned out to be a great a great travel backpack. The laptop side pocket is a good place to start, it's just incredibly convenient to not have to drop my laptop in with all my assorted stuff and have to move everything around to make room for it. Also it protects my laptop from scratches and dings it gets when it's put together with all my books and other electronics. The side pockets are oddly shaped which makes the zippers a two-hand affair to operate but there are enough of them for some organization. The filing compartment is the other great feature because it allows me to put all the documents I need to carry into an organizeable, stiff folder compartment where they don't get crumpled or damaged, they don't have to be folded, and access to them is swift and convenient. There is an airline ticket pocket which I don't use because it is on the back where I can't see it or reach and I was a bit too paranoid that someone could just pull my plane ticket off my back without me knowing. It would be far better if it were on the shoulder strap near your chest; since you only need tickets for the hours that you are traveling that seems like the most convenient place. I love this backpack, I may try one of the other Ogio backpacks at some point as well.

Im heavy on Manhattan portage gear, and I love the culture and design and quality that goes into these bags... the bag can hold a size 13 shoebox, a 15 inch macbook pro, it's charger, a book, some hygenic gear (in the pouch) and a few small items ALL AT ONCE! The Coudura fabric isnt waterproof, but it dries quickly when SOAKED in the new jersey rain, and hose damn straps, it keeps everything compressed, along with the drawstring under it. but why do i give this bag a four? I i wish it was better organizing my stuff. A strap inside of it would be nice, or some reflectors on the exterior of the bag. i mean this bag is like 120 bones! why not?! This bag provides back support, and promotes good posture, but that dosent mean that you shpould keep this bag on all day when ur carring like 5 textbooks and your laptop. My first impression of the Targus Corporate Traveler Notebook Case is that it is designed and constructed very well.

The idea behind the Corporate Traveler's design is that it zips down across the center to let the case open like a clam shell, isolating your notebook on one side and all your accessories and files on the other. This allows the case to pass through TSA's scanner without having to remove the laptop from the case. I travel quite a bit with my notebook, and this feature really comes in handy when I'm fumbling through the airport's check-in process.

The ballistic nylon construction and Targus' SafePort Air-Cushion padding system provide great protection for my 15" Powerbook. The padding is also adjustable, which allows for a snug fit for smaller notebooks. This case features heavy-duty zippers with metal pulls and a very comfortable non-slip shoulder strap that has metal clips as well. Additionally, the carrying handles are wrapped in leather so the case feels very comfortable in my hands.

There are a lot of compartments in this case which afford more than enough space for my laptop's accessories and personal items when I travel. There is an accordion-type section that can easily house quite a bit of paperwork. (I was able to fit a book and a newspaper, along with some other paperwork.) Next to it is a small, zipped pocket for smaller items like a phone, PDA or an MP3 player. There is a zip-down compartment (Targus calls it a workstation) that has pen loops, a business card holder, and a clip for keys. There are also smaller compartments with velcro flaps for other accessories, and there's even a small zipped compartment for loose change. On the outside of the case is a fairly large pocket that can hold things that require immediately access, like a boarding pass or a passport.

Overall, I think this is a great notebook case. It is very well-constructed and even though it's fairly light, it feels very sturdy. Aside from traveling, I use this case on a daily basis, transporting my laptop to and from work. It replaces a Kensington Laptop BackPack, and although Targus' case is similar in size, it holds quite a bit more than the backpack. I highly recommend this case.

I've got to say that this is a well made bag. The design is such that the bag folds open and you can "in theory" not have to take your laptop out of the bag going through the XRay at the airport.

Let's start with the bag. You've got a very large and well padded laptop pouch. I think that you can really drop this bag from table height and your laptop would be very well protected. The bag itself is well constructed ballistic nylon (or so it appears) and is quite sturdy. Handle is well made. And it comes with the shoulder strap of course. The other half of the bag consists of a smallish compartment for papers and batteries.

I would say that this would be great for a corporate traveler who is doing short jaunts or for someone who doesn't have a ton of accessories. But by the time I threw in my laptop, charger, iPod, charger, extra battery pack, mouse, pens, business cards and the rest of my crap, I really filled the other side. Then after shoving in business papers and a book, it was stuffed. So, if you travel light, it's great.

As for the other matter of getting through the airport, I've only taken two trips. One time, no problem. The other time, security still wanted the laptop out of the bag. So I don't know if every airport will require you to take it out or not.

From the outside this may seem like your average laptop case. It is made of nylon, fits up to 15.4 widescreen laptops and has features that are standard like a file folder storage compartment and a trolley strap (quite handy when traveling) in a black and elegant design. It also has a zip down workstation with enough space where you can fit many (if not all) the accessories you may have for your laptop.

What makes this product different is the "zip-thru" design, an enhancement in which the case opens right by the middle isolating the laptop from the accessories. This comes handy when traveling, as when passing through the airports x-ray scanning areas you will no longer need to remove the computer from the case, if you've been there you know how it is. Well, that's the competitive advantage this case has over others. Another nice thing it has is what they call the "Safeport" air cushion system, these are polyurethane pillows that surround the laptop protecting it from both side and vertical impacts.

This is a huge upgrade from my old laptop case and I am very happy with it. Keep in mind that the main advantages it offers are for people who constantly travel and pass through customs in the airports. Having that in mind, I highly recommend this item.

This high-quality bag replaces my previous cheaper bag which has served me well but wasn't the best to travel with.

First off, the Targus Zip-Thru case is quite a big larger (taller) than I expected. My Dell D610 fits easily with ample room to spare. The air cusions on the bottom and sides seem very well built.

The file compartment can take a full ream of paper, which is great for folks like me who travel with lots of handouts.

One of the most impressive features is the oversized and very comfy shoulder strap. It's probably one of the best and most comfortable I've ever seen on any bag.

The front panel, for accessories, has plenty of pockets for just about anything. I travel with a LOT of accessories including cables, adaptors, and the power adaptor. Everything fit quite well.

For someone who is looking for a step up from the average $20-30 bag, and especially someone who wants to save a little time at TSA and protect their laptop better, this is a great choice.

I was skeptical about the TSA and how they'd react to this kind of bag, but if you search on TSA's website you'll see they've authorized it as of August 2008.

I don't know what else is on the market, but I'm quite happy with this one.

This bag is too big to fit under an aisle seat of a Boeing 737, which makes it pretty useless for me. I wish I'd known that before buying it. The zip-thru feature works pretty well. Some features are not thought through very well. There is no dedicated storage for the AC adapter that all laptop users carry with them. If you carry anything with a cord in the outer zip pocket, and you also keep pens in the pocket's pen holders, the cord will get tangled up with the pens. The materials and construction seem good and sturdy.

Laurex 17" Laptop Messenger Bag

I love this laurex bag, it looks awesome. Unlike other laurex bags this one does not have a removable laptop sleeve but rather a compartment to slide your laptop into. This inner compartment is in no way big enough to fit a 17in laptop, but would probably fit a 15.3in well. It has plenty of little nooks to put all of what you might need. I have a 17.3in laptop (that obviously doesn't fit into the designated compartment) so I put it on the other side of it and my laptop cooler where the laptop should go. It works fine and my laptop is still plenty padded. All in all I am pleased with this purchase.

The actual product is everything I had hoped it to be. Strong, beautiful, feminine,lots of storage and my 17inch HP laptop fits perfect. Very happy with the product.

In contrast to prior backpacks, I for once received a BRANDED unit, From MA Hon upon return from the Route. the Brand to match my other items in use. and to top it off TWO Units, One this Gray/Silver (as pictured) and the other FULL Black colored (Not Pictured)

The Unit is Delicate in show and is surely a head turner, especially in crowds that know the brand, but is also robust enough to carry in harsher conditions, which is a plus.

the Unit has multiple compartments, Frontal Pocket for the loose items that we have a tendency to carry around with us, 2 Zipped side pockets, big enough to carry Coach Sunglasses in the COACH "Oversized" Glasses hardbox. a big Zipped compartment where you can place all the files, binders and assessories that you have with you (about 4inch deep) which contains extra compartments and pockets within, and a Back Zipped compartment, which I use to carry my MacBook Pro in, in seperate padded compartment within (room for 2). it has a Padded Back and shoulder straps, which offer extra comfort while carrying the bag for prolonged periods of time, or when the back compartment is loaded with a bit extra weight. and a Hand carry handle on the top. Bottom is re-enforced by leather, which offers a bit extra support and protection.

And to top it all off, it has the COACH lable on the front, which shows the Brand and Quality (and of course the Price class) of the Item.

the only thing that I would say could had been better with this item would have to be the absence of option to LOCK the compartments. There are no option to do so, and that can be a Negative point of the item. Of course I would had loved if the option would had been available, but its is not. but given that it is a Expensive backpack, compared to other options available on the market, by multifolds, not to mention the value of the contents that I use it with, there is Next to NONE chance that I am letting it OUT of sight, so it doesn't really matter, but still, I think I should mention it to any prospective buyers who are out in the market considering this item.

J World Sundance Laptop Rolling Backpack

I was looking for a rolling backpack as much like the one I had worn out as possible. I found it in this J World Laptop Rolling Backpack. It came today and as usual I just cut out the thick pad for the laptop since I wont use it, loaded it with my stuff and I'm good to go. I love the big smooth rolling wheels and the easy glide handle. It was a steal at 53.00 which included shipping. I got black which is my preferred color. I like having a smaller pocket at the top where I can drop my keys, my cell phone, my small flashlight and, alas, my pepper spray. A year later both the others are still good but I wanted something bright for spring and summer. I got the Green with yellow flowers. They call it Khaki but it's green thank goodness. Again, cut out the place for the Laptop and I'm ready for summer. I get lots of compliments on these backpacks.

Well im starting seventh grade in about a month and i noticed that the rubber in front on the bottom is uneven on one side its about an inch an a 1/2 away from the wheel and the other side is about an inch away i dont think its a problem and u dont notice at all i just had been looking at the book bag for a while and had looked at the rubber and it was crooked lol but since it has strong material under the fabric if its raining it wont get to anything in my bag. I'm really happy the handle cause last year i bought a rolling book bag from staples for $44 about and the handle like on the 2nd i used it wasn't working anymore and i had push with lots of strength so my mom decided we should get it replaced and so we went got a different one same exact book bag different design and we didn't have pay of course but same thing happened and the handle broke so when i got this book bag i was really happy with handle it has i think 3 different heights. It has a ton of space in my opinion .Also it comes with a warranty from the company . i got the purple flower one and i like the color and i like how the wheels are the same color as the book bag which is nice. when my mom ordered it i was a bit worried because in the pics i didn't see the straps tucked in but they do thankfully lol. i think it is good quality . i totally think u should get this book bag ! also i forgot when i was trying to do a video review when the flash hit the gray line in the front it shined i believe that's for when ur walking at night. So when cars headlights hit it, it shines so they can see u it also has that on the straps .im happy my mom got the bag for me ! =) any questions ? lol :)

The backpack is in fine condition and seems to be of good quality. The only remarks I would have are the printed design on back only covers a small portion of the bag. It does not cover the entire bag like the picture suggests. Also, the handle, apart from being a bit flimsy is black not silver, as is the bottom rubber lining.

I took a chance on this rolling backpack because my Grandaughter loves pink. She is totally stunned by the pretty color and design. I am amazed at the quality, craftmanship and how smooth the wheels run. There are more than enough compartments to keep things organized. Handle raises quite high and the durability is most appreciated. At the bottom is a vinyl color coordinated protection over the heavy grade canvas. I could see this lasting through Junior High (if pink stays favorite color)! Customer Service is perfection. This is a sturdy rolling bookbag to use for college. Although I definitely wish it was bigger! Since I am a Nursing student I need a bigger bookbag---but I think anything bigger would actually be considered luggage. ;) I do wish the colors were brighter, especially the purple. I love all of the pockets/storage available too! It has a padded compartment for a laptop, but my laptop is too big (Gateway NV52 15.6"). The tough plastic base helps with the wear and tear of rolling it around all the time.
