Timbuk2 Sycamore Laptop Backpack

I was looking for something a little smaller than Timbuk2's Uptown and Q Laptop bags and the Sycamore seemed to fit the bill. No local retailers carried it so I went by the Amazon description. The bag in person is very well made and sharp looking to boot. It's a little basic in that it doesn't have the many nook and cranny pockets that the Showdown, Q Laptop and Uptown have, so I simply use a Cocoon Grid It (http://www.amazon.com/Cocoon-CPG10GY-GRID-IT-Organizer-Inch/dp/B002T0HRVY) to keep the small items I carry organized.

The built in organizer faces the back of the pack, which takes getting used to and it means that anything bulky you put in there is going to catch on anything you want to slide into that pocket, so you have to look carefully when you slide anything into that pocket -this is where I put the Grid It, facing that pocket so that I just have to locate the Grid It and slide papers or folders behind it to avoid it catching. But, the simpler answer in my opinion would be to have had the built in organizer more comprehensive, with more pockets and zipaways, and facing the front of the pack.

That one design quibble is why I knocked off a star, otherwise this bag is superb and well worth the price.

I have had the backpack about a year now and it has held up somehow. It's a good bag but you can just tell teh quality isn't really there. It is also a bit uncomfortable on the shoulders but not that bad.

This bag functions in the school setting, but is extremely annoying to use. Every time you try to zip and unzip the middle compartment, the zipper catches on the extra flap of material that is built into the bag. You have to unjam it every time. If I could return this bag, I would, but I'm already using it, and will just deal with it until it falls apart. Poor design from a company that is supposed to have cutting-edge designs!

High Sierra A.T. Gear Ultimate Access 36" Drop-Bottom Wheeled Duffel

I work in a marine environment. Durability, resistance to environmental stresses such as direct sunlight, moisture, corrosion, and incidental physical abuse on my part are always part of my criteria when purchasing anything I might bring on a boat. When I first started buying bags I was a lot younger and didn't mind carrying around 50 pounds of gear on one shoulder but as I got older I started buying duffle bags with wheels. I used to buy Samsonite wheeled duffle bags thinking they were of higher end quality, and this is partly true. However, all the Samsonite bags I've owned so far have lost most of their functionality due to the rigid frame where the wheels are set snapping because the rods stop before they can offer any support and the wheel base has no extra support molded in.

It's time for me to purchase new bags again and I'm not made of money so I want a good value. I looked at Thule, Dakine, Samsonite and High Sierra. Thule and Dakine seem way over priced. I decided to take a chance on High Sierra this time and bought two bags of different sizes. The first thing I looked at when receiving this bag was the frame. It's a much better designed component than what I had on the last generation Samsonite bags I owned. The Rods extend all the way to the bend where the wheels are set and the curved wheel base has some reinforcement design molded in. This bag has two interesting features that caught my attention. Instead of having one shoulder strap it has back pack style straps built in to the bottom. Any time you run out of flat surface to pull you can always carry the bag with the weight evenly distributed on both shoulders. Also theres a zippable base in the top compartment, it's a good design in case you need extra space for large items that wont fit in the top compartment itself. You can just unzip the bottom and utilize both compartments as one, however the bottom material is very thin. It's made of the same sheer material as the liner that is used to cover the frame. The upper compartment is therefore heavily reliant on the support of whatever you pack in the bottom compartment if it is to last. If the thin material were to ever get cut the rip might continue to travel over time until it hit the zipper unless a patch was sewn in immediately. The consolation is the bag is still functional as one big compartment. Outer zippers are decent quality but snaps are not as heavy duty as I would like. The fabric used is not as good of quality as the Samsonites I've owned but decent enough and the design is much better considering the added features and better frame. The Samsonite equivalent is about 50 dollars more and has a 3 year limited warranty which I was told by them might not cover the base if it snaps. The High Sierra has a 5 year limited warranty and I was told by them that the bag would be covered under warranty if I were to have that problem. Without the key rollable feature being reliable better fabric doesn't mean a whole lot so I'm fairly happy with my purchase at the moment. After 6 months of use I will revise my review accordingly.

I've had mine for more than a year now, and just ordered another one for a friend.

It's big, roomy, durable, and portable (can carry it on your back).

One negative remark i have is that it's not watter proof (one airport apparently let the luggages out in the rain, so i got my clothes all wet).

Other than that, i love it.

I did extensive research online -even went to sporting goods stores that had clearance sales (Gander, Academy, etc)and this duffle bag is -by farthe best you can possibly buy for the money. I was hesitant to make this purchase precisely because of the low price, but now that I've seen it "in person", all my doubts are gone. High Sierra 1830-Cubic Inches Murray Daypack

Bought this for my 10 year old. It is sturdy and has good strong zippers ! My only negative was that I thought it would be a little deeper (from front to back) but he can fit his school papers, 1 binder,a couple library books and his lunch. It wouldn't work well for someone to carry more than that. Was a little crammy when we stuffed shoes and snowpants in as well, this winter.

Herschel Supply Co. Classic

After just a couple months of use, this backpack is already literally coming apart at the seams and I don't carry a bunch of heavy books, usually just my 10-inch computer, one book, a little folder, and a pocket sized notebook.

This bag totally meets my expectations...

Rothco Flexipack Molle Tactical Shoulder Bag - Coyote

I bought this for my patrol belt (aka battle belt) which I where when I hike. It has a roomy main pouch with a drawstring closure to keep the contents dry, a zipper closure mid-pocket that is decent size, and an outer open top pocket that is narrow but is also inside the buckled closure. It does come with the shoulder strap in the picture but I've never used it, I just stuffed it in the slit pocket all the way on the back.

It has the MOLLE attachement straps and they are a little difficult but you get a decent attachment to whatever platform you are hooking up to. I was wearing it on my patrol belt over the summer when I went hiking and though it was a little bulkly it carried my Frog Togg poncho, a Datrex package, my binoculars, a Poptart, matches, bug spray, wet ones, etc. Yeah you can stuff this thing. Also I now have it attached to my Fox Advanced Mountaineering Pack. It makes for great external storage so I don't have to dig through my ruck to get frequently used items.

I highly recommend this bag.

Not bad for the price and shipping (Go Commando Gear). More than enough room for an EDC item. I also have the UTG multi-functional bag. This bag is slightly less identifiable as the "Look! I carry a gun!" bag. If you need an EDC bag, this is one is great for shorter term (time wise). If you're going to be carrying a bag on a hike, you may be interested in the one I mentioned above, from UTG, since it has more padding and a place to carry a water bottle. Either bag is great to own.

High Sierra Classic Series 59101 Col 35 Internal Frame Pack

If you want something carry-on size, under weight restrictions, and portable; this bag is for you! Definitely great backpacking throughout England on planes, trains, and automobiles for a week and a half. If you tend to over-pack this bag is not for you. Also, if you have larger clothes then this may not be suitable. I am a short, small girl (5'1"-110lbs.), so this bag was nice as well with weight distribution. Took a little getting used to it and loading it right, but by the end of the trip I was able to swing this puppy over my shoulder as if it weighed less than 10lbs. (my pack probably weighed 30lbs.) The top-loading was somewhat hard to use in certain situations, but again, by the end of my trip I knew the best ways to pack it. Overall, love this pack and hope to take it on a longer stint throughout Europe later this year.

I bought this bag based on the reviews that everyone wrote about it being "sized" for a carry on, fits under an airplane seat, evenly distributes weight and packs a lot of stuff. After shuffling this bag across England, Germany, Spain and Switzerland, this is not true:

1. Fits under the seatIf you pack this bag to be even remotely full, it is too deep to fit under the seat. You could however, try to cram it in, put your foot over it and then your coat over your lap so the stewardess won't force you to check it.

2. Sized for some carry onsIt is ok for 8 out of 10 airplanes. Smaller airplanes will force you to check it and the bag needs to be placed horizontally to fit in the overhead (meaning it takes up a lot of room). I highly recommend you getting on the flight first to make sure you have enough space. Also, UNITED may force you to check this bag for domestic flights. This bag theoretically meets the size requirements but it just LOOKS huge. Beware.

3. Distributes WeightIf you pack this bag to be remotely heavy, you will hate yourself. It feels no different from any other backpack filled with heavy stuff. The internal frame does very little to make this tenable.

4. Packs a lot of stuffThis bag looks big but doesn't pack a lot. The most I've been able to fit is about a weekend of clothes (that I wore twice), toiletries and shoes. My friend had a purse that fit more than this bag. There are no side packets or any nooks and crannies to store most things. Things that are slightly wide are really hard to put in and take out (IE: laptop, papers, notebooks)... I tried to put a binder in to no avail.

5. Top loading is terribleIf you are backpacking across XYZ, imagine having to take EVERYTHING out of your bag to get a pair of shoes...now, imagine doing that again and again, spreading your stuff all over dirty hostels around the world.

6. It does not fit a sleeping bagUnless you ONLY want to fit a sleeping bag. The bottom compartment has a "rain shield" for the bag and thats really about all it fits.

This is a very good pack for a day hike if you are the dad carrying all the food and water for mom and the kids. I use it to carry all the water and a picnic for a long day hike (10+ miles). The pack is very comfortable carrying 20+lbs. It suits well on my hips and the straps are extremely comfortable the whole time. Definitely recommend.

I use it on my bike commute 5 days a week for 12 miles a day. the weight is distributed nicely and the straps are nice and thick with the two front straps it hardly moves around so I don't have to worry about the weight shifting to one side of my body and falling off my bike.

The top back loop in the middle unthreaded because I attached my Ulock through it. Don't put anything too heavy on those.

The bag would probably keep out water to an extent, but because of the nature of the checkered surface being cottony, I'm dubious it would look nice after a serious dousing. Likewise the cloth strap, which is not detachable.

Also, while the bag fit my specific needs exactly this is not the bag to get if you're somebody who likes to overstuff your bag. If you put just a little too much in the front compartment, it's not going to adjust well, and makes keeping the lid shut via the magnets (which are cool) difficult. It also does not have the 'expanding zipper' like some fancier bags do, to give your bag some extra room if you'd need it once in a while. Similarly the interior. If you put your 15" laptop in here, plus a slim writing pad or ipad, and the power supply + cords, that is all that is going to fit. (Ok you can probably fit a magazine or two in the back zipper pocket).

The original reviewer who gave 1 star for 'false advertising' is not off the mark. The bag is indeed a dark brown, which is difficult to see in the photo, but the bag front with the checkers does look exactly like that. Also note that the zippers are a goldish color. I don't think these guys deserve 1 star for their product, but yeah, the photo could be better.

Samsonite Luggage Mvs Spinner Backpack

Use: I will be using this as a home to work bag. I walk some, take the bus and the metro.

Required features: Spinner, room for laptop, books, lunch, iPad, knitting and if necessary enough clothes for a weekend. Comfortable handle or backpack/messenger options.

Pros: It rolls wonderfully and fits through different size aisles. I'm not sure about a 17" PC by my 14 x 9.5 work laptop fits fine. The zippers are sturdy and there are enough compartments for all my needs and more. If a laptop doesn't fit in the designed sleeve, there is plenty of room in the main compartment for the laptop and more. The bag is not heavy and has a nice multiple height handle. One person thought the handle felt like it would break easily, but I have had others that were shakier that lasted years. The warranty is definitely a plus along with the sale price!

Cons: It is taller than I like and friends who travel more than I do said it would probably not fit under a seat but would be fine in the overhead compartment. I would have liked larger wheels to help in rolling over more surfaces such as some carpets and unpaved walk ways.

I looked at all the other PC bags with the spinner feature and they are based on the traditional computer/folder/office design. This was more than I needed. This was the only spinner backpack I could find. I just want to carry my computer without pulling my shoulder out of joint. I want to be able to reach in without having to open the compartment completely too.

I like not having to open the whole thing to get to my laptop and feel it is well protected from bumps and gouges.

I was originally shopping for a Jansport Driver 8 but was heartbroken to learn that my 15" MacBook Pro did not fit in the sleeve the way I would have liked (the strap did not hold the laptop firmly in place which 'caused it to lean to the back of the bag). I searched through numerous sites and saw the Samsonite MVS Spinner backpack. Since I didn't want to get my heart or laptop broken I went in search of a brick/mortar store that carried the product. I went to Mori Luggage and Gifts and tried it out. There is a cool slide in sleeve for laptops 15-17". It has a decent amount of functional pockets as well as a places to hold your water bottle, phone and/or mp3 player. It also has space for my iPad which is in the main compartment that holds the laptop sleeve. The price was not bad as well (I paid $106 plus tax). Overall, I would recommend this bag for anyone looking for a wheeled backpack to carry their laptop.

This product is the worst product you can buy from Samsonite. It is so fat you can not place it in any overhead bin, it falls over easily and it's dimension are just so unproportioned. This is a very well made item. For me it does not work. I put in my mini hp computer, Ipad, kindle fire, two bottles of water, note book, wallet, ipod, iphone, two sets of eye glasses and the list goes on. When I have every thing in it that I need it wants to and sometimes will tip over. The front part fall over. The bottom the this item you could call it the plat form where the spinners are is not big enough for me just because I really do put allot of stuff in it. It has allot of compartments. JanSport Driver 8 Core Series Wheeled Backpack

As a graduate student suffering from back problems, I was very particular about the backpack I wanted to buy. This bag is very sturdy, easy to maneuver and fits everything I need, i.e. computer, books, water bottle, etc. JanSport knows how to make a great product and I would recommend this bag to anyone.

All throughout high school, I used roller backpacks like these. They were made by Olympia and I would have to replace them every year. This was primarily because the wheels had two spinner things and all sorts of junk would get stuck in there, and if that didn't happen, the wheels themselves would just wear out.

This bag by JanSport, however, has been really awesome so far. It has two pretty sizable wheels that have good traction, and should stuff get wrapped up in there, it doesn't affect the way this bag handles in the least.

Another handy feature is it's handle. Before, I would have to fight with my bags because I would have to physically press down the handle if I had to climb stairs and whatnot, and often times it would just get stuck. Not fun at all. With this JanSport bag, you just press the button and there's no fighting back.

Also, my laptop fits well in the inside pocket provided it (Compaq Presario V3000). Exactly what I needed.

This is a great rolling backpack. I can fit 30 pounds of books in it and still roll it easily. It has good stability and plenty of pockets for my belongings. It also holds my laptop well and has padding to protect it. The downsides: It does not have little pockets for pen/pencils or small items, they just have to float on the bottom of your bag. Also it is pretty large so it is a little difficult to get through rows of desks at school, you need to sit toward the front.

This is our second Driver 8. My daughter has beat up the first one for 3 years and finally has managed to rip a hole in it with some sharp object. There was no thought about going to a different manufacturer -JanSport makes the highest quality pack out there. We know from experience: most of the others we've owned never made it through the school year, the handle and/or the zippers wearing out with daily use. After 3 years, this Driver 8's handle and zippers are in great condition, and the pack probably would have gone longer had it not been subjected to that sharp, pointed thing which should probably have not gone in there....(ahem).

Anyway, I/we highly recommend JanSport in general and the Driver 8 in particular.

Purchased this rolling backpack after spending a few hours researching which one would serve my needs best and appeared to be the most durable yet economical. I didn't want to spend $200 for a backpack but I wanted something large and dependable. Well, this backpack definitely fills the bill. I have been using it daily for over a month and I absolutely love it. I have a number of books, notebooks, etc. that I must lug around for nursing school and with this backpack it's a breeze. I'm a RoadWarrior. I have been saying for years that the perfect backpack would have a power distribution system of it's own so when I get to my room, I have only to plug my backpack into the one available power outlets (usually only one) and charge my devices. This bag is even better than I had imagined because now...when I am at the airport (where power outlets are even less abundant ) I can still charge my devices from it's built in battery. It has lots of compartments and pockets (frankly there are never enough of those) for all my junk. It even has a hidden compartment that I keep a spare ID and credit card for emergencies. I just used this for a vacation that involved a thirteen hour flight each way, with waiting at airports and all the usual stuff. It worked beautifully. We were able to recharge the iPad and phone while waiting in a hotel lounge with minimal outlets. It does charge slower than a wall outlet, but it does the job. Also, during the vacaion, I discovered that I didn't have a charger that worked on my Kindle, and used the backpack to charge that.

It is easy to carry, not too heavy unless you really overpack it. Because of the charging battery, it doesn't have a huge amount of space, but it's adequate to bring all the stuff you really need to carry onto the plane. I would definitely recommend this.

The laptop holder section does unzip from the rest of the backpack, and the U.S. airports did let us run it through the scanner without removing the laptop. The foreign airports did not.

It's the perfect size for someone to use at a conference for brochures, or for kids to use for small toys. I had imagined using this as bags to hold a towel for the pool... and it's too small for that use.

I wanted a bag for my smartphone accessories. Instead, I got 12. The Red Canvas Drawstring 'Backpacks'(?) bag . . This could be a 'backpack' for a Cabbage Patch Doll . . remember those . . but is is a GREAT bag for a couple of chargers, a lanyard, and a couple of sets of earbuds. The bag is great for that. Oh, then I got 11 more of them. My wife will use 7 of them as 'gift bags' for presents for our 7 grandchildren. The bags seem to be of good enough quality. I may buy a second set just because they are so useful and so inexpensive.

I got these for my sons birthday party. I am using them as favor bags. I bought some fabric paint and put each childs name on 1. I think these will hold up a bit. For a dozen bags, at less then 20 bucks, you can't go wrong. This was the cheapest price I found on these backpacks. Very satisfied!

It is ok for just carrying your laptop, however, there isn't any protection for it. It just simply provides you with the ability to carry it. Would I recommend this product, if all your looking for is the ability to transport, then it is ok, otherwise I would not.

This is a beautiful laptop sleeve, but it is not durable. One strap was not sewn correct so it is no longer attached.

My son was excited to get his bumblebee backpack but when he opened it the front small pocket was ripped inside. Inside it was ripped end to end, I sewed it back together but you get what you pay for, it is poorly made. It won't work for very long but he's happy for now. No problem with the seller, package arrived early and well package.

Dakine Women's 23-Litre EQ Duffel Bag

I love how cute it is and the size is perfect but there are no inner compartments or zippered pockets. All my stuff gets mixed together and it's annoying. I wish there were small pockets for my keys/phone/shampoo or a netted section to hold water bottle.

I love this bag! As an avid gym rat (30 yrs old), I was looking for a bag that had an athletic look, but remained feminine. This is perfect! Great size also (I was adament about no duffle bag-too big). The only negative... I so badly wish that it had side pockets to hold my shampoo, gym card, Ipod, etc. Pretty bummed about that.

I ordered this to replace my banged up gym bag and so far it is what I expected to be. It fits what I need for work and a change of clothes. I would give it a five if it had a little pocket on the outside for keys and a phone but it isn't a huge issue for me.

I love this, I use it to carry my stuff for the gym. It's able to fit a good sized fluffy towel, flip flops, a complete change of clothes, and my gym clothes as well as a full sized body wash bottle, shampoo bottle, face wash, deodorant, and tube of lotion. I love the design, I have a back pack with the exact same design. :D

Plus, it'll be the perfect carry on luggage for a train ride.

I use this product as an overnighter bag, that was my sole purpose for purchasing it...well also because it matches my backpack from Dakine also. It is gym bag size in every dimension. I love the Jasmine material design...it makes for a unique travel set. It's not bland but very feminine for the adult woman.
