Mobile Edge EVO Backpack- 16-Inch PC/17-Inch MacBook Pro (Black/Blue)

After getting a small mixer for karaoke use (the very excellent Mackie 402-VLZ3), I realized that I would need a new laptop backpack (my old Targus bag was not going to accommodate one more item). I did a very thorough research all over the net (but always making sure to check here on Amazon), and I kept comparing everything I saw to this model right here: Mobile Edge EVO Laptop Backpack (MEEV03)

There weren't many reviews for this backpack (which would usually worry me), but I found most other backpacks seriously lacking in comparison, and the few that looked as solid as this one, easily cost twice as much. So after much hemming and hawing I bought it.

I couldn't have made a better choice. The backpack has a solid feel to it...nothing about it looks particularly cheap or flimsy. The look of the bag is very aesthetically pleasing. It has plenty of storage options (a Godsend, considering how many cables I carry for primary use and back-up). My 15" laptop fits very snugly in the padded laptop sleeve (absolutely love that there's a strap to ensure that the laptop stays in place).

Just to give you an idea of how roomy and convenient this backpack is, here's a list of what I carry in it:

A laptop and its power supply (which I keep in one of the long zippered side pockets), A mixer and its power block, Microphone with a 15' XLR cord, several 1/4" interconnect cables as well as RCA cables, VGA to RCA video converter box, two portable hard drives (one with a case), smartphone charging cable, large ear covering headphones, Pens and paper, and a medium size umbrella.

You would think that with all of those items that the bag would have some serious weight to it...and it does...when you carry the bag by the easy grip handle on top. I didn't need to adjust the straps when I loaded it right out of the box it shipped in (which was an unexpected convenience for me)...but what really took me by surprise was just how it felt sitting on my shoulders. There is ZERO strain on my lower back, and I don't feel like I need to hunch over to carry this weight (the weight is distributed in a perfect way to me). When fully loaded, it almost doesn't feel like i'm carrying so much (I only notice the weight when I take the bag off and transfer its weight to my hand). That's a very neat trick.

One thing I discovered incidentally is that the backpack appears to be water resistant...I got caught in some light rain (when I forgot to pack my umbrella), and all of my items were dry. I don't know how it would stand up in a Monsoon, but it was nice not to have to worry too much about my gear getting soaked that day.

I HIGHLY recommend this backpack...I just don't see how anyone could go wrong with this model.

This is a nice bag as I expected. What I sought was a bag which can contain a lot of things including lap-top, with good looking design. I satisfied with both conitions. Especially, I like the streamlined shape. After using 3 month with heavy stuff, at this moment, I see no problems.

This is a great backpack! I would have given it 5 stars but feel it is missing one thing. There is the sleeve for your computer but no other sleeve for your files and note pads. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of room for everything and probably more compartments than you will ever need. I just wish it had a sleeve or seperator to keep my files together and seperate from everything else.

JanSport Big Bear II 78 Backpacks

I've taken this pack out on several backpacking trips, and Im not really impressed. The good thing about this pack is the size of the internal compartment. Having a little Bigger size means having more options. At 78 liters you can pack this pretty tight with everything you're going to need for a multi day trip. I was able to pack fairly generously and never felt like i was missing anything. I also like the separate sleeping back access zipper. It made getting to your gear a little easier when it was time to set up camp. The hydration pocket is more than adequate for a 3 liter bladder.

Now for the cons. First, the shoulder straps are woefully inadequate for carry more than 30 pounds over anything more than flat terrain. I carried this pack with 50lbs up a 4000 footer and my shoulders paid dearly. The padding is just too thin to support any kind of heavy load. Secondly, I simply could not balance the load. Rock scrambles with an unbalanced load added to the challenge of the climb, and on the descent, the strain on my neck and shoulders was substantial.

The external pockets are definitely lacking. Two side pockets are enough for a few small items, and the mesh pocket in the center of the pack is similar. Don't put anything in there you don't want exposed to the weather. There is also no place to lash down any external gear. The shock cords in the center of the pack can maybe manage small items like sandals or a light jacket, but I wasn't able to use it for much more than that. Also, I would like to have seen some pockets on the waistbelt for a tool, or GPS. There is a front compartment that is a fairly decent size but lack of front access to the main compartment meant having to fish through things if you needed any of your gear mid hike. Not a huge deal, but a bit of a hassle.

For serious backpacking, look elsewhere. For a little more money you can find a far better pack. For lighter uses, it serves the purpose just fine.

I took this backpack for a 2 week trip island hopping in the Philippines. Perfect size. I just wish there were 1-2 more pockets, but still much better than a suitcase to take on my trip.

I love it when a product stays mostly the same but the manufacturer adds the one or two small touches that you thought were missing from the original! Tinkerbell Fairies 16 inch Rolling Backpack

My granddaughter hasn't used this yet because we're saving it for her new school year. I like the styling and he fact that it's on wheels, as well as its colorful, theme design. I would have loved it more with an upper back pocket, but all in all, a great product. Revisit my review in a year and I'll let you know how sturdy it proved.

This is a cute backpack but not very sturdy. The metal pull handle broke after just a few uses. My husband was able to reinforce it and fix the broken area (screws sheered off), but then the mesh side pocket had loose threads at ;the bottom and just disintegrated along the seam. Then one of the wheels broke. My son is only third grade, so "school use" was not very rigorous and there was never more than one book and one folder in there, so weight was not contributor to the breakage. The bag is also not well balanced and will tip over completely if anything is in it. I think it would be okay for preschoolers using it around the house or as a car case, but it's really not good for much else.

Bought this for my son and he loved it! The ony thing I would change is the back piece that is suppose to cover the wheels when used as a back back rather than a pull. It drags and tears and there is no real way to protect that piece.

I bought the Phineas and Ferb backpack to use as a mini-suitcase/carry-on for my son when we travel as he's too young to carry a backpack. It's very durable and roomy inside and the wheels are a perfect addition. It was bigger than I expected which was a nice surprise as I was able to fit enough clothes, diapers and shoes in for over a weeks worth of traveling. It's something he can grow into using on his own and I have no doubt it will last. Overall, this is perfect for occasional travel or even daily use.

Targus DKSBP1 Madison Video Backpack

Interior can be separated into upper and lower compartments with a "shelf" that velcroes in. Lower one has zip side opening for removal of lower contents/camera without disturbing upper contents. This is great for using two cameras, or just separating all your "stuff" from the camera.

My Rebel XTi fits fine in lower compartment with standard lens. It takes a bit of practice to get it in/out through the side zipper with the 70/300 lens, but it fits fine. My Sony HDR-HC3 Handicam takes up only half that compartment.

Zip pocket in front offers a bit more space for accessories, keys, etc. A couple other small pockets would have been great, though it's sleeker looking w/o them. As it is, I could easily carry the DSLR, 2 lenses, the video camera, and a point and shoot camera (my usual gear) and still have room for keys and wallet.

My biggest difficulty with it is that the strap is long enough for use as a backpack, but the bag is really kinda small to be worn that way. Using the strap over the shoulder is much more likely and yet the straps are really too narrow and unbalanced to make that comfortable. I would have preferred that the strap be comfortable for shoulder carrying, since that is the most likely way it will be used.

It does do a good job of protecting and separating camera gear. It's spacious. And neutral enough that I can sometimes get my husband to carry it. Only problem is the strap and balance...traveling in cities with it on your back is just asking to have someone snap it (no zipper on top) open and grab your stuff.

I'd probably be less happy if I'd paid full price, at the $20 I paid for it, I can put up with the strap.

My girls have had their packs for two years of light use. They use them once or twice a week, usually for Sunday hikes.

Pros:

* Rugged construction

* Very durable

* Roomy holds everything we have ever needed for hiking. For school work, we can fit a clipboard in there, but not quite a binder.

* Plenty of pockets and compartments keep things organized

* Strong zippers even when the bag is stuffed to straining, they don't pull apart

* Large, coated zipper pulls are easy and painless for little fingers

* Outside bungees for extra storage

* Strong buckles & pull straps to cinch down largest compartment

* Drink bottle pockets have held up well to regular use

* Stiff, padded, ventilated back stays cool and comfortable

* Hydration tube guide keeps bite valve handy

* Hydration bladder is easily replaceable (and easily upgraded to a better-quality Camelbak bladder)

Cons:

* For hiking, it's a big pack. We love it for certain uses, but we also need a small pack for short day hikes.

* Small mouth hydration bladder the large-mouth bags marketed by Camelbak are easier to fill and clean.

* Hydration bladder is on the small side maybe a quart? The kids have never wound up thirsty, but they have finished it by the end of moderate hikes.

* No rubber gasket on the bladder lid if you don't thread it exactly straight, it leaks easily. (On the other hand, it leaks immediately, so you know while you are still at the sink if you need to adjust the lid!)

Overall:

This is a great, sturdy pack. It has plenty of room while still not overwhelming small bodies. For school, this one is probably not the best choice, since a 3-ring binder is a very tight squeeze. I would say the best use for this pack is for a day-trip bag. It is stellar for moderate hikes.

I purchased these backpacks for my twins (5.5 years old) and was really happy at first with the way they fit my kids' bodies. I loved the padded shoulders and the c shaped straps. The chest strap was the biggest hit with my kids! I then tried to put a folder in it, and was really disappointed that it was not big enough (wide) to close without wiggling things around. It will not be easy for my kids to give these up, but... we need to return it. It won't work for kindergarten!

I was so happy with the shipping, the service, and the people! But when I received the bag I unzipped the front zipper and it ripped on the inside! :( I'm still using it, I sewed it back together, but what a bummer man. Arc'teryx Quiver Backpack

This is a well-made bag with very nice features. One problem that I am having is that it presses against my throat on the left side. It may be that I am too large for this bag. The straps fit me but the shoulder strap still migrates over. Also note that the "yellow" is really more green.

It's a little bit stiff and not very comfortable. But it's durable. If the price is lower, I will recommend it.

Sumo 12" Nylon Sleeve

I've been struggling to find a good sleeve for an Acer Aspire 751 (netbook with an odd-sized screen). This is the perfect width, but a bit too deep, even with an extended battery fitted. Anyhow, it is a good compromise and better than anything else I've found. Only gets 4 stars since it's a bit 'puffy' and you end up with a very fat, but nicely protected, laptop. If the flap was made out of a thinner material, it would have got 5 stars, but as it is the top is very, very fat because you get three layers of puffyness (front of the sleeve, back of the sleeve, and the puffy flap). Still recommended though. Edit: there is a rectangular padded strip just inside the top and if you fold this inwards as far as possible the closed sleeve is quite a bit thinner so now I'm very happy (have changed it to 5 stars).

It's a functional bag, my Dell D400 fits very nicely. Unfortunately the bag is rather bulky and could have been designed better, like a more fitting sleeve that doesn't take up as much room in a backpack. Then again, for 10 dollars, I cannot complain too much. 3/5 stars

The sleeve itself is good. Seems durable and protective. However, I have an hp tx1000 laptop, which fits within the dimensions stated for this sleeve, and it barely fits in. At first it was a huge struggle to get the notebook in or out. the sleeve is stretching out a little over time, so it's usable now, but still, if you have an hp tx1000, don't buy this.

This is a great laptop sleeve. While a little bulky, it keeps my laptop nice and cozy, and protects it well with thick lining. I especially like the corduroy "hood" that fits over the top of the laptop before closing it with the flap. And it's cute, which doesn't hurt. Very nice overall.

Sanrio Mosaic Hello Kitty Messenger Bag

This year, for 3rd grade, my daughter(8 y/o) wanted a shoulder bag like the bigger kids. This bag (unlike most messenger bags) was perfect for her size. It's roomy enough inside to hold the textbooks but it's overall size is compact, so she doesn't look like she's carrying mom's bag. Only problem, so far, is that the front zipper pocket lining has come undone at the bottom seam. It's just the thin lining that covers the (thicker) outside canvas, so the pocket hasn't, technically, lost it's function. I'm sure I could buy some fabric tape and fix it up myself but, it happened within the first week of use!! This tells me that the bag is not durable and it may need more "fixes" in the near future. Someone might say that perhaps the item is not authentic Sanrio product, but in reality I've had problems like this before with Sanrio items. With something like this, you're not buying quality, you're buying a name (with a super cute character on the front).

Dakine Girls Academy Back Pack

Before i ordered it, I checked the dimensions of my backpack, hoping itd fit my 14.1" laptop. The backpack came smaller than I imagined it, but my laptop actually fits! The interior is perfect for just enough stuff for college a 1" binder along with a book or two.

I absolutely think the size is perfect for me since I normally tend to stuff my backpacks with junk, and this helps me to limit what I need to carry. The two smaller pockets in the front are good for my small necessities although i wish the middle pocket didnt have just one zipper, since my things kept falling out.

The side pockets are useful for a water bottle and the other side for small stuff as well. There is a pocket on top above the main compartment which is useful for pens/pencils in my opinion.

My mom bought this for me a few days ago, as I was starting up school soon. Well, I've recently received it and am fairly pleased with what I found.

I have an HP TouchSmart Tm2 laptop. It's fairly small, 12.1 inch display, and it fits well in the laptop pouch. There's a little wiggle room which makes me fairly certain my Kindle might be able to slide in with it, but I'll have to wait and see. There's a little pouch on top that's just big enough that I can squeeze in my spare battery, which is nice.

It's a little small, which makes it perfect for college classes, as I hate having a huge backpack to have to lug around my campus. I got the red designed one, and as there are very few computer backpacks made with any consideration to women, I'm happy with the look.

The 'cooler' section on it might be my only complaint. It's not very big, but maybe it was only meant for a small bit of food. It's on front too, so it's where it might easily be crushed by outside forces. But honestly, that isn't that big of a deal to me as I'll probably only use it for my small planner and notebook and not any food.

The strap seem to feel good too, and look sewn well. Anyway, I'll probably update this after it's had a little more use, but I'm pretty happy with it right now.

I received this book bag promptly. I was so impatient to get it, I kept looking at the tracking on the product. It might seem small, but I can fit a good amount in it. There's even a pocket in the main compartment for a laptop. I can fit my laptop and at least 4 notebooks. It's perfect for any college student. The insulated front pocket to keep foods cool is a great and convenient touch also. There are 2 side pockets, and one of them even stretches out to double as a drink compartment. I would certainly recommend this back pack for anyone.

Great, durable and light backpack. I used it on a 1000km hike from Sevile to Santiago de Compostella and it simply delivered. The sidepockets are great to keep an Camera (It fitted perfectly for my Panasonic Lumix TZ7) or a small GPS (I used a Garmin Edge 705). The pack itself is easy to pack, light and yet it still takes on nasty weather or heavy equipment without a problem. The best thing about this pack however is its amazing ability to fit well regardless of it is highly stuffed or just half full. In short, get this pack if you value quality, I certainly have not regretted getting it

This is my favorite bag when I am taking a load less than 40lbs. It is very comfortable and lightweight. WB Road Trip Scooby Doo mini backpack - My first adventure small backpack

After just a few weeks of use the handle at the top tore on one side and isn't usable anymore. It's not that big so nothing heavy ever went into it. He was very upset about it.

This backpack does NOT have padded sholder straps. Meaning the roughly 1 inch nylon you expect to be below the padding to adjust the length of a strap, that stuff makes up the whole length of the sholder straps. However, the picture on the front is adorable, and raised on the backpack which makes it a fun texture for a toddler. Unlike some of the other Scooby backpacks the picture is friendly and positive. All the stitching looks good, though we havn't started using it yet but if you are ordering this for your a toddler in preschool, be aware you're going to have to sew some padding on the straps yourself. An inconvenience, but reasonable when you're paying less than $16 for a Scooby Doo trademark item. And fulfilled by amazon, which means you can expedite the shipping if you need it for the start of school like we did. I'm learning not all sellers offer that to all places. All in all not our first choice, needs a little customizing, but not a bad backpack. And amazon totally saved the day with the expediated shipping when no one else would to Hawaii. I guess money can't buy everything after all, lol.

Light, sturdy attractive bag...perfect for carrying laptop and a few necessities to & from work. This is by far the lightest laptop backpack I've ever owned, which is important to me since I'm not the strongest gal around. Nice zippered internal & external pocket. Also you can carry it like a large clutch. Highly recommended!!

I cannot tell you how many backpacks I have. Everything from airport-friendly check-through bags to your typical book bag, I've bought them all. Spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on these bags only to find one flaw after another in them. Now I can stop looking (and spending) since I found this bag. The Ascot is very well made, fairly lightweight with durable material. The fabric doesn't seem to show stains or wear so far, and it is smooth and attractive. The bag easily holds my ultrabook computer, mouse, hotspot, cords, etc. as well as all my personal items like my wallet, jacket, etc. without becoming a behemoth (It is a perfect size for my 5'3" frame). I really like the versatility of the straps: you can tuck them away and just use the handles on the top, or you can clip both (or one) strap to the opposite side and carry like a sling, or use both straps like a normal backpack. The large compartment opens wide without coming fully open so you don't spill all your contents out. The inside computer compartment is nicely padded and opposite that are pockets for smaller items, as well as a zipper compartment for storing cords so they don't get in your way. I like that it doesn't have too much tiny organizational pockets for stuff -I don't need these because I just drop my wallet in, and that would just needlessly add weight. I used to always look at the Tumi line and wonder why on earth they were so expensive. Was it lined with gold? Was it bigger on the inside like Doctor Who's Tardis? No, but after owning 2 now I understand why. They are durable, well constructed, and extremely well designed. Just the right number of compartments, not too many, not too few. Lightweight, attractive and just the right size. I bought the Tumi Voyageur Brive sling backpack in December and together, these two make a perfect pair for me. This one when I need to carry my computer and the sling bag when I just want to carry my personal stuff without the computer. With my Tumi set, I feel my search is over and although my wallet is considerably lighter because of these two purchases, they are worth it.

This convertible bag for a small laptop or tablet (or both) is the most convenient, easy to carry, and stylish I've ever had. I have been stopped on the street and on trains to be asked about my bag. it's size is manageable. It's lightweight and very easy to carry. i find, however, that I rarely use the handles as they are too short to fit over your arm and the straps are convenient and comfortable. The only odd thing that is missing are pen holders, but that's no big deal.

True quality. Well made, well designed. Tons of room, lots of pockets, very comfortable as a backpack, beautiful leather handles for using as a handbag. I carry a lot of stuff daily...too much probably, but I like to be prepared for any situation. This fits the bill...I can carry my every day essentials, IPad and accessories and anything else I want to grab and go..I have a painful shoulder from my too heavy purse, not anymore. The pain in my shoulder is almost completely gone now. Best purchase ever! You get what you pay for and this was worth every penny..top quality, designed to last a lifetime, I think.

I purchased this for my grandson's birthday.He took it on a plane trip first, held all his toys and reading material for the flights. lots of pockets and room. easy for him to handle. only issue was the extra length of strap from shoulder strap caught under the wheel and ripped off. it came undone from the velcro. make sure to get it on the velcro and close the cover over it to hold.

other Moms have asked where it was purchased. his friends love it because it has wheels and the bright picture and pockets.

Not a very durable backpack. Purchased it for my kindergartner for the school season. Didn't even make it two months before the handle/wheels part fell apart, so we ripped it off and it became a regular backpack for the next three months until we got a new high quality rolling backpack from Pottery Barn. The construction of this backpack does not take the normal daily wear and tear of a young boy. Expect it to last only a few months.

I gave this backpack to my young grandson for Christmas so that it could be used as an activity pack or an overnight bag to visit Grandma. It came quickly and was packaged well. This was a great Amazon experience.

got this for Easter for my 6 year old son, and he absolutely LOVES it! When he saw it Easter morning he closed his eyes and said " I can't even look, I'm so excited!" Thank You so much!

Bought this as a gift for my nephew starting kindergarten. I think it's a nice bag, and he'll probably like it too he loves Angry Birds. The quality was good, and seems durable enough for a six-year-old boy. The birds aren't painted on, but they're like a puffy plastic patch so no scratching or peeling, I don't think. And it's big enough that it should fit his school supplies.

The bag would probably keep out water to an extent, but because of the nature of the checkered surface being cottony, I'm dubious it would look nice after a serious dousing. Likewise the cloth strap, which is not detachable.

Also, while the bag fit my specific needs exactly this is not the bag to get if you're somebody who likes to overstuff your bag. If you put just a little too much in the front compartment, it's not going to adjust well, and makes keeping the lid shut via the magnets (which are cool) difficult. It also does not have the 'expanding zipper' like some fancier bags do, to give your bag some extra room if you'd need it once in a while. Similarly the interior. If you put your 15" laptop in here, plus a slim writing pad or ipad, and the power supply + cords, that is all that is going to fit. (Ok you can probably fit a magazine or two in the back zipper pocket).

The original reviewer who gave 1 star for 'false advertising' is not off the mark. The bag is indeed a dark brown, which is difficult to see in the photo, but the bag front with the checkers does look exactly like that. Also note that the zippers are a goldish color. I don't think these guys deserve 1 star for their product, but yeah, the photo could be better.

The bag pictured in the image is black with brown squares. The bag I received was brown with black squares. Nothing kills me more than false advertising
