Banjo Brothers Commuter Backpack

Yes, the Large commuter backpack has more cubic inches. Yes, the Large pack is 3 inches taller. But does it hold more? Not really. I base my review on having used the Medium commuter backpack for 3+ years. I commute by bike. My commute to/from work is about 20 miles round trip. I often make stops on the ride home to pick up groceries. More than once, I found myself wishing the bag was just a little bigger. Even still, it does hold quite a bit. And when all strapped in, the bag rides quite comfortably; distributing 25 to 30 pounds evenly. Over time, I considered getting the Large bag, but opted out because I didn't want to drop the money on a bag that was slightly larger, but otherwise identical to what I already had. Then, I saw the White version of the Large bag and decided to go for it.

I discovered, the hard way, that this bag was no better than my Medium sized bag for grocery shopping the first night I had it. Excitedly, I loaded the bag; grateful for the extra 3 inches in height. I had gotten quite a bit more in the bag. The problem came when I tried to close it. There are 2 straps involved. One closes over the the roll top. That one barely reached, and not without smashing my bread. Then, there's the strap running from the bottom of the bag that buckles to the flap that goes over the top. This part was NOT EVEN CLOSE. It fell short by at least 4 inches! I couldn't close the bag! After a significantly slower ride home, due to the bag of bread swinging from my drop bars, I was finally able to assess the problem. Side by side, the size difference was obvious. Perplexed, I broke out the tape measure. It wasn't until I measured the straps and flap, that I discovered the problem. They're the SAME SIZE. This is a serious design flaw. The closure of the bag is entirely dependent on the flap and/or straps. If you're going to extend the bag's height by 3 inches, it stands to reason that you would lengthen the flap and/or straps. That's not the case here. Fully loaded, the strap on a Medium bag is fully extended and barely buckles to the flap. On the large, due to the extra height, it fell quite short. I emailed Banjo Brothers customer service about this and have still received NO response for over a month. Essentially, the added height is useless, because this is where the bulk of the added volume comes into play, as the bag is only 1 inch wider. Why make the bag taller if you can't close it? If you're considering buying the Large bag, the only way you can truly get optimal use of the bag is to buy an aftermarket extension strap, which Banjo Brothers doesn't offer. After an exhaustive search, I still haven't found one with compatible buckles for under $20. In other words, if you want to get full use of this bag, you WILL have to spend money afterward to get a strap that enables you to close the bag when full. The only difference in this bag and the Medium is that I can now carry records(LP's) comfortably in the Large bag. And the one improvement is the additional side pocket. With a u-lock in the side pocket, the bag can feel quite unbalanced. Now, I can at least put a water bottle or something in the other side to balance the ride. If you own a Medium and are considering the Large for its carrying capacity, save your money. The bag holds no more than a Medium, unless you want to use it for record shopping. If you're considering buying a commuter backpack and are unsure on what size to get, go for the Medium. Except for the u-lock problem, the bag rides much more comfortably. The Large is a little bulky and doesn't rest on the shoulders quite as snug as the Medium, and it also affects your sight lines when looking back during rides.

I think this is a serious design issue that Banjo Brothers should address. While they should make the flap on the bag larger, the least they could do is offer some type of extension strap. It's very misleading to offer a Large backpack, when the space gained is unusable.

Met all of my expectations, and replaced a 8 yr old laptop backpack.

The main compartment is roomy (and waterproof) and there are plenty of pockets to keep smaller items stashed away.

It sits comfortably on my back and is very secure if you use both the chest and waist straps.

This is a really nice backpack. We got this for our three year old niece who picked it out herself with our help on Amazon based on the pictures. It did not disappoint.

The backpack itself seems durable, a good size for a three year old and the Dora picture on the back is in a nice glossy reflective print that our niece liked a lot.

I purchased this as a gift for my daughter's third birthday. She loves it! It has very vibrant colors. Pictures don't do it justice. When I opened the shipping box it came in, and saw the product, I thought it looked even nicer than it did online. It is a great size for a child at that age. It's not too big, but yet, it's still big enough to get quite a bit of use out of it while your child is growing. The only complaint I would have, is that it seems like the straps are not well-sewn onto the back pack itself. Hers are still intact (she's had it for about 4 weeks), but from the amount of stitching, I wonder how long the stitching will hold against wear and tear. This could be fixed easily if you're handy at sewing though. Overall, I like it and she loves it. This isn't something you can normally find in stores. So it was nice to receive something online that looked even better in person than how it was displayed online. Sometimes, online products can be deceiving, but this one was more than expected.

Pacific Outdoor Equipment Crank Commuter Pack

I've been commuting to work for a few months and got tired of trying to shove my work clothes, shoes, shower kit, etc, into a normal-sized day pack. I set out to find a larger pack that was comfortable to ride with, and I have found what I was looking for with this Pacific Outdoor Equipment Crank Commuter Pack.

First I must say, it looks pretty dorky. the top flap that just flaps over (rather than anything zipping) is not a cool look. But do I care? Heck no I don't care. Because guess why I don't care? Because this bag is ROOOMMMYY. That's right, I can fit everything I need to in this bag, and then some. My helmet even goes inside it if I have to take the bus home. It's great that way. Also, it self-adjusts its size, based on how full it is. The flap can come way over if it's half full, which is a nice feature.

It's also pretty comfortable-as comfortable as a pack can be when you're hunched over your handbars, anyway. I've learned to pack a little lighter because any kind of pack while bicycling is annoying. Fortunately this bag does a good job of minimizing that annoyance.

I can only give this bag 4 stars because of the mysterious lack of outside pockets. There's one on the side, but it's so small I can barely squeeze my wallet into it. How about a pocket that fits a wallet, a cell phone, a bike computer, and a set of keys? I don't think that's unreasonable. There are, fortunately, a couple of inside pockets you can put small stuff in, but having to undo the main compartment just to get at my keys is a nuisance.

I bought this for my 5 year old niece, because she is starting kindergarden this fall. This backpack is super cute, it has some sparkle, the Hello Kitty is fuzzy, and it's a good size. The only thing that I'm concerned about is the quality. When I recieved it in the mail, there were lot's of hanging strings that I had to cut off, so I hope it doesn't fall apart. Nonetheless, my niece loved it, and hopefully it'll last her a few years.

Targus DKSBP1 Madison Video Backpack

Interior can be separated into upper and lower compartments with a "shelf" that velcroes in. Lower one has zip side opening for removal of lower contents/camera without disturbing upper contents. This is great for using two cameras, or just separating all your "stuff" from the camera.

My Rebel XTi fits fine in lower compartment with standard lens. It takes a bit of practice to get it in/out through the side zipper with the 70/300 lens, but it fits fine. My Sony HDR-HC3 Handicam takes up only half that compartment.

Zip pocket in front offers a bit more space for accessories, keys, etc. A couple other small pockets would have been great, though it's sleeker looking w/o them. As it is, I could easily carry the DSLR, 2 lenses, the video camera, and a point and shoot camera (my usual gear) and still have room for keys and wallet.

My biggest difficulty with it is that the strap is long enough for use as a backpack, but the bag is really kinda small to be worn that way. Using the strap over the shoulder is much more likely and yet the straps are really too narrow and unbalanced to make that comfortable. I would have preferred that the strap be comfortable for shoulder carrying, since that is the most likely way it will be used.

It does do a good job of protecting and separating camera gear. It's spacious. And neutral enough that I can sometimes get my husband to carry it. Only problem is the strap and balance...traveling in cities with it on your back is just asking to have someone snap it (no zipper on top) open and grab your stuff.

I'd probably be less happy if I'd paid full price, at the $20 I paid for it, I can put up with the strap.

I bought this backpack for my child, who will start kindergarten next fall. When it arrived, I realised how big it was. The main compartment is really roomy. It houses my 15'' MacBook, my padfolio, quite a few books, notebooks and pencil cases. THere's an insulated front pocket that could push your old lunchbox into early retirement, or of counsel at least! One more front pocket holds and organises all your school supplies.

Two lateral pockets come in very handy if you have, like I have, to carry an epi-pen and a ventolin inhaler. I use the other one to hold keys, money, you name it. Right by the handle there's a smaller pocket.

As you probably have guessed by now, my daughter never got to use it.

I would not recommend it for younger children, but it's perfect for junior high and higher.

My 12 year old really likes this backpack. Seems well made; light weight but tough. Has a great look. Time will tell if it can take the abuse of school. He's looking forward to using it.

theres a lot of storage space in here. I fit all six of my college textbooks in it with no problems. The pockets on the sides are big enough that i store my texas instruments calculator and my portable hard drive in them, the the cooler pocket is nice to have for long days on campus. the straps are a little thin, but they're sturdy and only get uncomfortable when you have a lot of books (6) in it. It was a good buy.

My son was looking for a quality and decent looking bag, that would last him through school. Yet big enough, that still has style.

We scoured department stores, but no luck.. major complaint was the bags were just too small or the quality was not great!

Then we came across this bag and read the reviews and it sounded like we found what were looking for!!

The cost is a little more that I expected to spend, although after we received the merchandise i fully understand why.

This bag is definitely worth the purchase because it is roomy enough for books, has great compartment for the little thing (keys, phone, chapstick, etc..) The quality will definitely last you awhile through grade school and even high school... but as you know it's not about the quality, it's the fashion it will outlast!

My son, who is 13 yrs. old was very impressed with the bag and if anyone has a 13 year old... That is definitely saying alot!!

After its long 6 years of being beaten up, traveling around the world, my last Ful backpack had to go. I looked hard for one that was similar after having such a good experience with the last one. I found this one, "Beale-Street Laptop Backpack" and I am happy to have yet another high quality product on my back. I'm in my last year of college and I can say I've tried many different backpacks and nothing beats Ful's comfortable design with too many compartments to count. The great thing is that the many compartments are all hidden throughout the backpack. You don't see gaudy zippers on every visible square inch of the backpack like other manufacturers' designs. Buy a high quality backpack and it will pay itself off in the long run.

In 2010 I bought an Oakley messenger bag. I thought it was the perfect bag, with pockets in all the right places and a style I really liked. Then one day a metal piece broke, making the strap worthless, and suddenly the entire bag was dysfunctional. I tried to buy a new one, searching the entire Internet for weeks. All I could find was in that same bag in camouflage color. If you know me, you know I would look like an idiot walking around with anything camouflage.

I found the Ful Beale Street backpack at a brick-and-mortar electronics store. I liked it because the color was the exact color of my company logo, and a lot of our things are this color. The champagne/maroon color is not easy to find. I figured I would try the bag out and return it if I didn't like it, because I had been looking for something a little more businesslike. Not only did I keep it, but I came to Amazon and bought three more. (At exactly half the price!) Let's just say I will never have a repeat of the Oakley incident. And I love this bag so much more.

Let's start by saying I am and electronics geek, and I do PR for events. I have a lot of stuff, and it takes a lot of power. I have an iPhone, two Mophie battery cases, a pair of Mophie Powerstation battery packs, and cables to go along with those. They all fit perfectly: I mostly carry the iPhone but there is an easily-accessible pocket in the bag I can put it in when it's raining. I put the spare case in the side pocket, and my mi-fi hotspot fits alongside it with room for cables, as well.

In the left side pocket I have a Jambox Bluetooth speaker it fits perfectly, although the pocket isn't as padded as I'd like with its cables and jam chain.

The front pocket fits the battery packs, but it also has room for my passport and important documents, a bunch of pens, and other items.

The small pocket in front of that is the perfect size for a normal sized wallet. With room to spare to drop in credit cards and currency. It is so easily accessible on the seat next to me when I'm driving, I can pull my wallet right out of the front at the Drive-Thru. Love that.

The pocket behind that is large, and has room for lots of stuff. It is where I put my headphones and all of the cables for my MacBook. Inside of it you'll find a pair of small pockets with Velcro, which contain my USB memory sticks they never fall out my Square card reader, and a few Bluetooth headsets. There is also a zippered compartment at the bottom of this pocket, where I keep some small accessories. Not really sure what this pocket is intended for, but I'm not complaining. Finally, you'll find a couple of small, worthless-to-me pockets that hold nothing, really. I'd love to have a few actual pen holders this bag has zero. This would have been the perfect place for them.

The main pocket is huge. I have a 13inch MacBook and a ton of folders and cascading files, and they all fit. I have used a portable dual monitor, and it fit as well. The bottom is well padded, although if I could make one change to this bag it would be to include some kind of hardshell on the bottom as well. I have read other reviews were people say bigger laptop won't fit. Mine has a lot of extra room at the top, so I don't see how that is possible, but I haven't actually tried a bigger laptop myself so who knows.

Lastly: the pocket at the very bottom, front. This is HUGE. I call it "the garage." It's not that well-padded, but I've managed to fit my Oakley glasses with their huge case, the case for my headphones, and a bunch of misc items that don't fit elsewhere, plugs and adapters and the like. There's room to spare...

The only major problem I have with this bag is that the Ful labels on the handle are glued on, and in the hot Florida sun they fall off quickly. I plan to superglue one on, but of the other is long gone. It annoys me every time I look at it. Use better glue, Ful! For most people this would probably be a non-issue...

I use this bag daily, and it is filled to the max with heavy stuff. I have had no problems with wear so far, and have been using this one for 10 months. If I can get these to last one year apiece I'm good for four years. That's what's up! At the rate it's going, I'm thinking it will go even longer.

I highly recommend this bag, if you are looking for a backpack with a ton of pockets and a lot of storage space. I almost never write reviews, so that gives you an idea of how highly I think of it.

This backpack is made of really heavy duty fabric and the lap-top sleeve inside is awesome. The laptop pouch is lifted off the bottom, so even when your laptop is in it, its not touching the bottom of the backpack, so if you drop the backpack, the laptop isn't just hitting the ground, its actually cushioned.

It has a side pouch designed to hold a laptop charging chord and power-pack (and my mouse fits in there with it) and it has a front pocket designed to hold a calculator (my TI-84 fits). (I also like to put my check-book in there on the days I'm planning on going to the bank.) The bottom pouch is perfect for small books (I use it to carry whatever novel I am reading and my Kindle Fire, it fits both simultaneously). It has another small pocket on the other side that is the perfect size for a cell phone power-pack and charging chord.

The cushioning on the straps is great, and the handle on top is heavy duty. I use the front small pouch for my pencils, pens, and glasses case. I use the one behind it for a bunch of random stuff that I like to have with me (like a deck of cards, some tums, extra pencil led/erasers, screwdrivers, etc.).

The large pouch, even though it looks small, can carry a lot of stuff (I have fit, in addition to a large water bottle and medium sized umbrella, a huge text-book, 3 (full) folders, a (full) binder, and two (one three subject, one one subject) notebooks and still had plenty of room to spare). In addition, the zippers stop half-way down the sides on the large pouch, so even if you forget to close them all the way and they open themselves just from you walking, the pocket will still contain all your books and stuff because it won't fall completely open. Also, the bottom is waterproof, so you don't have to worry about setting it down on the wet ground. It is a great backpack.

My only complaint is that the water-bottle sleeve is on the same pocket that's meant to hold the laptop charging chord and power-pack, so it can't really carry a water bottle and a charging chord/power-pack at the same time. But, I can usually fit my water bottle in the main pouch even with all my books and an umbrella in there.

beatrix Big Kid Pack Percival Dino Backpack

This is a really cute backpack. However, it has several flaws.

1. Why on earth would you put a name label on the OUTSIDE of the pack?? Totally not a safe thing to do.

2. The straps need one of those chest straps to keep them in place.

3. It's awkward for the drink holders on the outside of the pack to have a top flap. Not sure what the point of that is.

4. While the stitching of the graphics look really nice, it's not going to be durable long-term.

There are better packs out there that still have the cute factor, have more features and will withstand the abuse that kids put their stuff through.

I purchased the Bunny version of this backpack for my full time Kindergartener in December to replace a novelty backpack that had already fallen apart with a broken zipper. The bag was adorable and my little girl loved it. Her lunchbox and folders fit perfectly. But by April, I was holding it together with 10 safety pins just hoping it would make it through the rest of the year. I was very disappointed. My girl is not rough on her things either she is the kid that places everything gently and keeps it all in good order. It only ever held her plastic lunch box, 2 folders and sometimes a library book. Considering this is sold as being for ages 5-10, I felt it should have lasted the entire school year.

I call this my Tactical Utility Hip Pouch (TUHP) and it works great for when I'm traveling for work (network field technician). I can keep a few extra things on me without having to haul around a purse or toolbag. Two pouches, with a small one in front of the bigger pouch.

The one problem I've had with this, is the adjustment strap slips out if I'm doing a lot of climbing or walking. But other then that, it is a very handy product.

I did quite a bit of research to find the perfect lumbar pack to use when cycling, and ended up choosing the Warbler. I use it to carry my iPhone, IDs, snacks, etc when I go riding. My saddle bag is too small to fit everything, and not as handy as a lumbar pack.

Pros:

Looks very nice (simple and stylish) I got the Charcoal and love the color too.

Has the perfect size for those who don't want to carry too much stuff, and the design is such that it stays close to your body rather than bulging out. (e.g. it's not noticeable under a loose sweater)

The front side is padded, making the outer pocket a good place for storing phones, etc. However, the inner side (touching your body) is not padded, which isn't a problem for me. So I think this was a good design decision.

Has bands for holding the extra strap out of the way

Cons:

The bigger compartment's zipper has a metal piece on the little loop, which adds a nice touch. However, the one on mine was a dark matte red instead of a grayish one that's shown in the picture. Doesn't look too bad, so I kept it instead of trying my luck with another. Plus, worst case, you can just take out the metal piece.

Summary:

I strongly recommend this. It's not the biggest pack, which is actually a plus for me. It is well-made and looks very nice.

This is the pack I have been looking for. It holds all of my things and it is not too bulky. Good construction and looks like it will last. I use it when I braid horses. The front compartment holds my phone and the larger one holds all of my tools...comb, brush, etc. I love it!!

I trolled the internet trying to find a backpack that my Laptop could survive. I'm rough on things and plan to buy an ultra book which is known for being extra fragile. This product fits the bill and at a decent price especially comparing to other brands and products. Axio has a new fan.

I bought this backpack because it was a hard case and it sounded like there was a lot of room for my school books. I am disappointed that I can't get one days worth of classes in there, and my laptop HA forget that! I can just get two classes, which is only 2 1 inch binders, and 2 1 inch books. Zipping it up is very hard and I think the zipper will bust by the end of the semester. I have to carry my laptop to every class, and I have to run to my car and dripp of the morning classes and pick up my last class cause I can't even get one more one inch binder in the bag. For the amount I paid I'm very very disappointed!!
