Osprey FlapJill LG Backpack
The bag that I got was the Jet Black Version, and just an FYI to anyone interested, the actual color isn't as dark as it appears in the picture. To me it looks more like a very dark charcoal, not so much a jet black.
Pros:
The backpack, although smaller than other bags holds a surprising amount of stuff. I'm a college student and can easily fit an Alienware M14X (which is a pretty thick laptop), all of my textbooks and notebooks, and several folders in the main compartment and laptop sleeve. In addition to all of that, there is plenty of space in the front pockets for my keys, wallet, pens, pencils, a planner, a small umbrella, and a bunch of miscellaneous items.
The quality of the pack is also superb. It is made of a very heavy canvas type material that is very durable and fairly water resistant. I tend to pack it quite full and I haven't had any trouble with tearing where the straps meet the body as I have had in the past with other bags.
The way the bag distributes weight across your back is awesome. I typically carry quite a lot of heavy stuff in mine and when i put it on, I don't have any trouble with back strain or feeling like all the weight is focused on my shoulders. It seems to spread the weight over your entire back which makes it super comfortable to wear while walking across campus.
Osprey offers a lifetime warranty on all of their bags, so if it gets damaged, they with either fix it or replace it free of charge.
Cons:
I wish there were a few more pockets on the front and the sides or possibly several smaller compartments instead of the few larger ones that it has.
There is a small Velcro patch that closes one of the compartments on the outside of the bag. I've found that if I have any pens or pencils in one of the little slots that are intended for pens or pencils, it obstructs the Velcro and makes it difficult to seal.
This pack is a little on the pricy side.
Conclusion:
This bag is fantastic and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Although there are a few minor cons, they pale in comparison to the massive number of pros. The higher price on this bag reflects its amazing quality. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality, stylish, and all around awesome backpack.Great bag to carry my laptop and other essentials. Recently returned to school via online classes, and all textbooks are online as well. If you are a college student looking for a bag to lug around a laptop PLUS a bunch of giant books, this is not the bag for you. If you have a laptop and a notebook or binder or two, and a few other miscellaneous smaller supplies, this bag is perfect! Well made, definitely worth the price.

Wife likes it a lot. Nice material. Good looking. Water resistant. The padding is nice and comfortable. Happy we got it.This is the best backpack I have ever owned in terms of weight distribution and how it fits on my back. The only little defect is that it is a little narrow. But that forces me to carry only the books I am really going to need for the day and not put in it an extra million things, and my back is thankful!I did a lot of research before finally selecting this commuter pack....and I'm so glad I did. I use this backpack for commuting to work and since I work 12-shifts, I needed something that could handle the gear. I can fit work shoes, a soft-sided lunch bag, a book, change of scrubs, etc without problems. I was a little curious about the waterproof-ness of the backpack, but had that question answered this morning when I was caught in a downpour on the way home from work. I arrived home soaked, with black road grit splattered all up my backside and on the backpack. I held the pack over the sink and literally just rinsed the grit and stains off. Next time I looked at it, it was dry and perfect again. The inside of the pack stayed perfectly dry. I love the zippered pockets and little compartments to stash stuff. I use the laptop section for my scrubs instead of a computer, but it looks like it would work great for a laptop too. No complaints, you should buy this backpack. Just be careful in your selection...there is the "regular" version and the large version (which I have). I tried on the regular version at a local Recreational Equipment Incorporated store and it seemed kind of small for my needs.Tuesday, July 8, 2014

Mountainsmith Lumbar-Recycled Series Swift TLS R Backpack
After a lot of research I decided to go with Mountainsmith again and purchase this new Swift TLS in black. It is absolutely perfect for the daily use bag! It fits all misc daily items and still has room for more without looking too bulky.
The front shove-it pocket is deeper and more secure than indicated in the pictures too. It can safely fit a phone, notepad, pens, mp3, and whatever else you decide to stuff. The compression straps can also double in function to hold a spare shirt or light rain shell. The hip belt is perfect too, just the right size and durability with airflow and security.
I would say the only drawbacks I have experienced with this bag are the chest strap (too slender/minimal adjustment and does not sit right on my back and shoulders), no haul handle (such as the one found on the tour) and difficulty carrying my extra large water bottles (this of course defeats the "light day bag" concept however).
Overall this is an awesome pack and I highly recommend it!For the price, this is exactly what we were looking for in a small day pack and as a front pack for longer hikes. It's the perfect size for a couple of water bottles, a camera, snacks, a small first aid kit, map, compass, and other small things you might need to reach for during a hike. We are very happy with this bag.

I wanted a small lumbar pack that I could stuff a jacket, water bottle and a few snacks into but would be unobtrusive and comfortable. That is what I received. Mad Water Waterproof Sportsman's Duffel Bag
In addition, it appears to be pretty hardy bag as its already endured some rough treatment without much I'll effect. My only concern on the bag are the buckles, they seem a little brittle but the test of time will show if my concern is warranted. I suppose for the price, it's very excellent value!Very nice waterproof bag for the money. I will eventually buy some more. Went camping with this bag and when it rained this was the only source that kept my gear dry. Make a tent.

Incase Nylon Campus Pack
Buy Incase Nylon Campus Pack Now
Pros:-good nylon build
-compact in size
-Mac (or PC) laptop compartment is feather-coated (like the Incase MacBook Pro sleeve)
-high-quality cushioned support built in straps and back
-iPad sleeve can be used for a paper notebook or folders, etc.
Cons:
-laptop compartment is a snug fit for a 13.3" MacBook Pro with an Incase sleeve
-main compartment inner pockets are on the smaller side
-strap length adjustment can slip out of place if not careful (meaning that one side may sit higher than the other)
-contents inside can become warm quicker than expected
All in all, this is a very good bag. Being a business student, I primarily use my Mac for everything, eliminating the need for a heavy-duty bag with pockets galore. The cushioned supports in the straps and the back are both the highest of quality that I have ever seen or used. The feather-like support that Incase provides is the same as in the Incase MacBook Pro sleeves, meaning that your Mac (or PC) will be well-protected. I mentioned that it is a snug fit with the sleeve, which it is but can also be a pro because it ensures that the laptop will not move while walking.
I have yet to have any contents that I keep in the small inner pockets fall out onto the floor of the main compartment as others have said, but it is possible. The straps for length adjustment (how high or low it sits on your back) are not rough like on other backpacks; these are really smooth. As a result, I have noticed that they slip to different lengths if I am not careful. I used to use a heavy-duty bag from my days with a much larger laptop and that bag did not heat up like this one does -so I just may be new to this in that regard.

I've been using this as my main bag for work for the last 5 months or so.1. There is no padding at the bottom (or top) of the laptop compartment. None. Just thin nylon fabric between your laptop and the ground. This seems stupid, since don't you usually drop your laptop bag on the floor upright? The padding material at the sides isn't attached to the back of the bag, so the padding can drift slightly inside the nylon fabric sleeve and not protect the corners that well either.
2. The laptop compartment isn't snug and fitted to a 15" MacBook Pro the way it appears in the pictures. It's quite huge, this may be a positive if you have a much larger laptop. I estimate that you could fit almost a 2-inch thick laptop in there, to give you an idea of how oversized it is. There's plenty of padding between the laptop and your back, but only a flimsy bit of nylon padding (not the "furry" stuff like in the back) between the laptop and whatever's in front of it. Anyway, when I drop my backpack from a foot or two up I don't feel like my computer is well protected--I can hear it hit whatever surface due to the lack of bottom padding. A big step down from my old Timbuk2 laptop backpack that I used for the last 6 years.
3. Also the "iPad" sleeve inside provides zero padding and doesn't even stop it from bouncing around, it's just a very big, thin fabric pocket. And make sure to face your tablet's screen toward your laptop because...
4. The pen pockets are also sized for people who carry around dry erase markers and those giant sharpies people use for graffiti. Regular pens would just fly out of these.
5. So if your bag is not held upright at all times, your iPad and laptop can slide "up" (due to it not being snug or fitted at all) and can then be scratched and marred by your pens and any other items in the main compartment.
6. The straps of this bag are very wide and flat and stiff and look really cheap.
7. The zipper catches all the time on the flap that covers the zipper. It hasn't seemed like it's about to become jammed up, just inconvenient when I don't have two hands available to zip carefully.
8. Very, very lightweight. This may be a positive for you but it doesn't seem like it is very sturdy.
Recommendation: I would purchase a different bag. There is one called Belkin Core Laptop Backpack that I've seen on here that looks a lot sturdier and nicer, and is seven bucks cheaper at the moment. Do not ever consider buying one of these Incase Campus packs at anywhere close to their sixty buck retail price, it is really a thirty dollar bag that is really pushing it even at forty.Incase makes great products, but I was a little disappointed with the quality of the bag. It feels extremely thin and makes me nervous about putting a laptop in it to carry around. With that said, though, it is a stylish-looking bag and gets the job done.

PTH® Victory Sackpack Bags by Under Armour
But, the real reason I decided to review was because of the "Foam padded, ua branded drawcords." I read that in the description and couldn't believe they were actually including the type of draw cord as a selling point, but these things really are nice. They are about the thickness of a bic pen (or a bit thicker) and the padding really does work. I hadn't realized how much the shoelace like straps on my other bag had been digging into me until I replaced them. All other things being equal, these cords would still convince me to buy this pack. This bag is the greatest thing ever. I got the Navy blue, white and grey one....it meshes well with my gym clothes. Its durable and it holds a good amount of stuff in it. I'm out in Afghanistan with it and been taking on all the harsh elements and not breaking or tearing. Its a must have bag....I recommend this bag to everyone.
Buy PTH® Victory Sackpack Bags by Under Armour Now
This is a very durable bag and worth the money spent. I was looking for a new drawstring bag, had one I used for gym clothes and it started to tear and fray not too long after use. This bag is made of a very strong material, and has a front zip pocket with mesh pockets inside. The bag is a great size, I currently have 5 books inside that are about the typical size of a hardcover book. The books fit nicely with plenty of room. They fit stacked on top of one another, and there is room on either size and above the books as well. Even with all of the books stacked on top of one another, the outside pocket still has room to fit items inside. There is also a small flap zip pocket on the inside top section of the bag big enough to fix keys, cell phone, or mp3 player, possibly all three together. It looks like a decent size but I haven't had the need to use it yet.
The only downside it the straps are thicker than the cheaper versions of drawstring bags which makes it a little difficult to close. Regardless once you get used to the straps there are no issues. This is a great bag and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I bought this bag to replace a larger gym bag that was large enough to use as a airplane carry-on for short / overnight trips; and I'm extremely happy with it so far. It has enough room for me to pack the following things:A full-size/hotel towel, a smaller towel/cloth (2x the size of a large washcloth), socks, boxer-briefs, blue-jeans, leather belt, Polo-Shirt/T-Shirt, wallet, keys, spare-change, iphone, ipod, weightlifting gloves, swim-goggles (wrapped in a second sweat-towel/washcloth), travel size vanity kit, and a pad-lock... and I estimate that I could still fit more items (a pair of shoes or bulkier clothes if you live in a colder climate).
Some extra notes...
I read some reviews, and learned that you could re-tie the back-pack strings internally for a better fit and it worked like a charm for me. You get plenty of slack so it's really up to you how you want it to fit. I can wear it as a backpack, or I can sling it over my shoulder.
I also love how this thing opens and closes. Yank the cords to cinch it shut, and pry it open with your fingers. It's quick and easy, but still feels very secure.
There is an easily-overlooked, zippered pocket lined with soft felt material just inside the lip of the bag interior that looks like it may be suitable for cell phone storage but I just use the front pocket for speed.
My only (very very small) issue is that I like clasp my padlock to the bag straps for easy access (don't want to dig around for it). I haven't found a great place to secure it, but this is a pretty trivial problem considering I could just put it in the front pocket, or find another alternative.I bought this for my son who is in 6th grade. He now uses it as his dailly backpack. It hung a little low on his back, but I was able to knot the strings from the inside of the bag. Now it's perfect.

Medium Molle Assault Pack USMC Hiking Backpack Tan
Remember that this pack is not a main pack. It is the size of a regular day pack, or comparable to the USMC Assault Pack.
I give this product a 9/10 and not 10/10 only because I am comparing it to the USMC Assault Pack the quality of the materials don't seem as strong and for Marines, rugged quality that can sustain a beating is essential. None-the-less, this is still a very solid pack and would bring on deployment!

Quiksilver Schoolie Backpack (Multi)
Two lateral pockets come in very handy if you have, like I have, to carry an epi-pen and a ventolin inhaler. I use the other one to hold keys, money, you name it. Right by the handle there's a smaller pocket.
As you probably have guessed by now, my daughter never got to use it.
I would not recommend it for younger children, but it's perfect for junior high and higher. My 12 year old really likes this backpack. Seems well made; light weight but tough. Has a great look. Time will tell if it can take the abuse of school. He's looking forward to using it.

theres a lot of storage space in here. I fit all six of my college textbooks in it with no problems. The pockets on the sides are big enough that i store my texas instruments calculator and my portable hard drive in them, the the cooler pocket is nice to have for long days on campus. the straps are a little thin, but they're sturdy and only get uncomfortable when you have a lot of books (6) in it. It was a good buy.Read Best Reviews of Quiksilver Schoolie Backpack (Multi) Here
My son was looking for a quality and decent looking bag, that would last him through school. Yet big enough, that still has style. We scoured department stores, but no luck.. major complaint was the bags were just too small or the quality was not great!
Then we came across this bag and read the reviews and it sounded like we found what were looking for!!
The cost is a little more that I expected to spend, although after we received the merchandise i fully understand why.
This bag is definitely worth the purchase because it is roomy enough for books, has great compartment for the little thing (keys, phone, chapstick, etc..) The quality will definitely last you awhile through grade school and even high school... but as you know it's not about the quality, it's the fashion it will outlast!
My son, who is 13 yrs. old was very impressed with the bag and if anyone has a 13 year old... That is definitely saying alot!!
Goodluck!Got this at a good price from Amazon, better than what I could've got my son from WalMart and at just as good of a price. Its got a special insulated compartment to keep snacks/drinks in instead of carrying a seperate bag!

Fits well in carry-on compartment of a plane. Enough room for a weeks worth of summer clothes, & very durable. Love it!!I have been using this travel bag for several months and I am very very happy with it. It is durable, and just the right size for a carry on.I purchased this item in early July (2011) and it's already damaged and inoperable. Admittedly, I travel a lot (130K miles this year & counting) but this item didn't even last six months. Specifically, the handle no longer works (the handle won't rise making it next to impossible to do anything but carry the bag). I liked the styling and the size of the bag but the quality is completely unacceptable. My advice, save your money and make a different selection!Thursday, November 28, 2013

I bought this for my son to start first grade with. He is an avid train fanatic, but is even more obsessed with Thomas the Train. This backpack is very strong and sturdy with a nice boldly colored exterior. Very roomy on the inside! As the school year ends, no tears, no rips, no dents, it is in excellent condition considering there is a child who flings it, drops it, and stomps it, using it on a daily basis.Read Best Reviews of Thomas & Friends - Thomas Train Large School Backpack Here

Meffort Inc 15.6" Laptop Sleeve with Extra Side Pocket , Soft Carrying Handle & Removable Shoulder
One of my favorite features of the bag is its should strap. Yesterday, however, the strap broke in a parking lot, causing the bag--with the laptop in it--to tumble to the pavement. At first I assumed that the hook which removes the strap had come open. But no--the stitching that attaches the strap's anchor to the bag had come unraveled. Very poor workmanship, especially considering that the case hadn't been used for anything else besides carrying my laptop to and from work and is only four months old.
I got lucky this time (computer survived the fall) but will never use or buy a product from this company again. Spend the extra money to get a better quality carrier for your laptop. This bag is as advertised in terms of design, which I liked, and size. The pocket is great, padded, and zips up. However, it has that cheap plastic smell and makes everything smell like that. Plus, I bought this sleeve because it had the shoulder strap, but the strap squeaks when you're walking and it's right up near your ear but I couldn't locate it or stop it.My wife loves this sleeve. She has a 15.6" laptop and uses this to carry it. The padding is reasonably thick. Of course, it's a sleeve, not a hard-shell case, so I wouldn't expect it to protect from a high impact fall or crush, but I would recommend this to protect your laptop from scratches and minor impacts. Plus it looks cool, has a shoulder strap, and is reasonably priced.washes so easily and holds quite a bit of accessories plus papers in addition to my laptop. Awesome product would recommend without hesitation. The product is great, easy to carry, the pocket awesome to carry cord! The smell of rubber at first is too strong and it penetrates into your clothing but is less or you get used to it! The bad thing was that it not arrived on time, it was miss sent and I had to contact them twice to find out where it was!!!
