Allen Company Pagosa Day Pack (1600 Cubic Inch Capacity, Realtree Ap)

I bought this bag for duck hunting. I have since used it on short hunts with little to no walking and long hunts where we trek through flooded timber for over an hour. It is good for either type of hunt, but ideal for those hunts or hikes where you have to walk for a while. It is comfortable, straps easily adjust to whichever coat I wear. The mesh pocket on either side is just the right size to hold a single decoy (albeit a smaller one).

The only drawback to this particular pack is that there is a large zippered main compartment, a medium zippered front compartment, but no small compartment. My old bag had a perfect spot for chapstick, pocket knife, car keys, etc. A simple remedy for this particular pack is to keep these smaller loose items in a ziplock or container of some sort...then stow it away in the front pocket.

One of my friends commented on it yesterday. He liked the camo break-up pattern and noted that it blends well with surroundings and does not stand out.

Lastly, I like that it has an inner pocket and a velcro opening in the top to accept a rubber Camelback-style bladder. I have not used it for this yet, but the added pocket space inside also works well to organize contents.

All in all, a great buy! I look forward to using for years to come.

When I asked my nephew what he wanted for Christmas, one of his wishlist items was a camouflage backpack for hunting. After looking at several different brands and features, I decided on this one and crossed my fingers that it would be what he was hoping for. On Christmas Day when he opened his gift, I expected thanks, but not much more because it was, well, a backpack. He was thrilled! He spent quite a while sitting by himself looking at all the different pockets and noting their uses and he thanked me multiple times throughout the day. Used this past season. Would be nice to have a few more divided pockets but overall a great bargain for the money. If you need something to hold you basics (a little extra ammo, flashlight, drink, scent guard etc) don't hesitate to buy.

Gregory Fury 40 Backpack

I've had this pack out twice now, and I'm delighted with it. Very comfortable loaded up to 27 lbs or so (maybe more -haven't tried). No bottom or side access to the main compartment, but lots of very functional exterior pockets. Gregory packs tend to fit a more curved spine like mine better than any other brand I've tried, and that's true for the Fury.

I currently have a Z35 backpack which I really LOVE. I wanted just a little more room and I wanted to keep the handy outside pocket, but the new Z40 does not have it, so I bought this. It looks like the Z35 in the picture, but it arrived in a glorified garbage bag that was about 1X2 feet in size. That's because there is NO support NO frame in the back at all. This pack is NOTHING more than a glorified duffel bag! I returned it immediately. I wander what Gregory is thinking when they made this thing! Your back will sweat like crazy with this thing.

I looked all over the web looking for pictures of this pack, and there are almost none out there that show the pack pannel. I guess this is on purpus, so DONT BUY IT TILL YOU TRY IT AT A STORE.

If your from Gregory I think your marketing is a terrible. The information on your website is very limited and your product line needs to be more organized. Why did you make a Z40 that looks like the Z35 but completely do away with the expandable pocket? Why not simply make a larger Z35 which is your best-selling backpack. Instead of like a backpack you make it like a piece of luggage! The Jade 34 is make just like the Z40 but the Jade 40 is made like the Z35???

Built NY Black Laptop Sleeve

The laptop sleeve is great quality; the problem is the sizing is way off. I had read other review of this product which said that the laptop sleeve ran small and suggested that you buy a size bigger than your computer, and I did. I bought a 17" laptop sleeve for a 15.4" widescreen laptop and the Built NY 17" laptop sleeve was still too small for my computer or to be specific it was still too narrow for my computer. Amazon lists the external dimensions as 16.9 in L x 11.8 in W x .5 in D. The 11.8 in W measurement that is listed is from the ends. The hour glass part in the middle is around 10.4 inches wide, so if your computer is wider than about 9.5 inches don't buy this laptop sleeve.

Fits my new 15.4" MacBook Pro. At first I wasn't sure about the hourglass shape but once it's on the laptop the shape modifies. Doesn't look as,'hourglassly'. I really like the funky designs but wish they had more patterns to choose from. I bought the LARGE multi Poka dot pattern with the off white background .. which I LOVE..and the brown multi-dot one. It gives a very snug fit and fits into my backpack nicely.

Even though it says 15" it fits my 15.4" UNI-BODY MacBook Pro PERFECTLY.. I Highly recommend!!

i purchased a macbook and wanted to get a semi-protective sleeve for it. the product itself is well-made. however, it does not fit the 13" macbook very well which causes the laptop to shift around inside the case.

with that said, i would not recommend this product for the 13" macbook as it is a better fit for owners of 14" and 15" laptops.

This is an extremely well made sleeve for a laptop. I have a Toshiba 17" laptop and I bought this sleeve because of the outstanding workmanship. It fits my laptop like a glove. It is made of wet suit material which offers more cushion than another sleeve I used on my 15" laptop. It zips on the side instead of the front so it offers more protection for the computer. I highly recommend this product.

I own a 14 inch HP Pavilion Laptop and I think this product was especially made for it. It's an EXACT fit and I love it. I'm not sure how it would fit with a 15 inch computer as it seems there wouldn't be room for another inch but if you have a 14 inch computer this is perfect. With that said, the material does stretch a bit so maybe it could.

Wenger Computer Backpack - Red

I got this bag right after finishing school in Dec. Since I graduated I do not need to take a bag with me as much as I did when I was a student, so I haven't used it a lot. I read about people having trouble with their 15" laptops not fitting, I wasn't worried about mine fitting cause I got a 12" laptop, but I tried my parents 15" Fujitsu to see how it fit. Its a pretty thick computer. It was very very tight. Maybe it would stretch out the pocket a bit over time, but it was a real pain to get it in and out. The tags on the bag do say fits MOST 15" laptops.

I came across this bag at Best Buy. Before I saw it I had been planning on getting a Lowepro laptop and camera backpack, since I have one Lowepro camera backpack which I mostly like. Problem with the Lowepro bags were that I couldn't find them in any stores to look at, and the two models I was looking at online were $150-190, and I didn't even really like them that much. Also I don't need to take my camera gear with me all the time, only when taking trips. Anyway, this bag looked well made and it was only around $50. After spending some time online and in stores looking at bags while I waited for my computer to arrive I decided on this one.

I had worried a little about how to pack all my camera gear if I have this bag when I travel, I didn't want to have to take this bag and a camera bag. But as it turns out, the big compartment in this bag is big enough to hold the padded insert from my Lowepro Rover AW camera backpack.

Pros:

Lots of pockets, lots of space.

Mesh pockets on the side are good for drinks.

Seems well made, but I haven't really put it to the test yet, and I haven't owned it long enough to see how it will hold up over time.

No waist belt. (some might consider that a con...)

Stands up by its self.

Compression straps (I think they're called) on the sides.

Cons:

All my complaints seem to be in one compartment. In one of the compartments on the front, which has slots for various small items, there are no pen slots. I really like pen slots. I put my pens and pencils in one of the wider pockets, but if the bag gets turned upside down they all fall out.

Same compartment: all the wider pockets are too narrow for anything I want to put in them, such as business card case, electronic dictionary, etc. It could just be me that thinks they are too narrow, but I think other people will feel the same way.

Choice of colors. I read on Amazon that the gray model is more like silver, so I got red. I would have preferred all black.

Could use some more padding at the top of the computer compartment.

These things I listed as cons are really minor though. Just the things that could have made it an absolutely perfect bag.

I am sure I will have more to say about this bag once I get to take it on a trip.

UPDATE 3/11/08 I have had the bag for about a year now. Its held up well, but it doesn't see daily use. I took it on one trip to Korea and Japan. I like the big open pocket on the front of the bag. Its good for holding things you want easy access to. It looks like the bag is available in blue now. Silver and red were the only choices when I bought it last year. My other complains when I first wrote the review are still the same. Also, the bag no longer stands up by its self as well as it did when it was new. I still really like the bag.

This is an excellent backback. I did a lot of research on what I needed in a laptop tote. I wasn't sure about how it would handle as I traveled through the airports. It handled extremely well as I found out.

The great points:

1) Incredible amount of room with lots of pockets.

2) A separate compartment for the laptop which makes it easier to pull the laptop out while going through security. The strap holding the laptop in is also very easy to open and it keeps the laptop from moving around.

3) The open pocket so that you can stuff itinieries and paperbacks in there as you get on and off the plane.

4) The shoulder straps are easily adjustable and very comfortable.

5) The padding is also very comfortable, I sometimes forget that I have it on.

6) Cool little pocket atop the pack for MP3 players or for wallets.

7) Hard core handle up top for easy and confident transfer.

Not so cool:

1) The small doodad bag up front where you are supposed to stash keys, cell phones, pens and pencils does not have a double zipper so it can easily be wide open without you knowing.

2) The second handle on top of the pack is skimpy and makes no sense.

Overall, I love it and I enjoy using it as I travel about. The pack is very well designed and holds some very pleasant and surprising features.

I wanted to follow up the reviewer that said a 15.4" computer will not fit in this pack. Because of this review, I took my HP dv5000, 15.4" notebook to Best Buy to see if this backpack would be suitable for me. My computer fit in it just fine. Perhaps Wenger has made adjustments to the design, perhaps the reviewer got a lemon, or perhaps not all 15.4" screeened laptops are within the tolerances that Wenger desgined for. Regardless my 15.4" computer fit in this pack just fine and I will be buying it.

I absolutely LOVE THIS BACKPACK!!! In the months it took me to find this product I probably tried every other brand of backpack on the market and none of them come close to the comfort, capacity and styling of this bag. It is well built. I fly from Fl to Ca frequently and carry a Fujitsu T4020 laptop, along with literally a ton of books. With my previous bags my back would ache under the weight, but with this one I hardly feel like I have it on. It fits perfectly under my seat even on the small commuter plane. I particularly like the padded compartment (intended for an ipod or CD player) which I use for my digital voice recorders and camera. I also like the way the padding supports the weight yet still allows for the air to circulate -an important factor for those living in hot climates to consider.

After wearing a pack for most of my adult life (I'm U.S. Marine), I've searched for the best civilian pack to carry the daily stuff in for day trips. This is by far the best design I've seen yet. I've tried many cheap one, ones that I've rebuild, even old military packs. All either lacked quality of construction or were uncomfortable to wear. I use this bag for my swim stuff... it holds a bath towel, and hand towel, my suit, a small bag of shower stuff, a small bag of makeup, my goggles, a brush, and still has a little room for other small misc. items like flip flops if you need it. The pocket is solid on the top, but you can see through it on the back since it is just a piece of material sewn to the mess bag. Works great for holding my wallet, cell phone and keys though. I love this bag especially for the price. It is bigger than it looks in the picture, so I hope my description of the contents it holds will help you understand the size.

I wanted a bag for a day trip that wasn't bulky like a school bag. This is perfect. Not bulky and big enough for a change of clothes etc, for the beach, and easy for the kids to carry themselves. Don't let the price discourage you. I thought for $5.99 it would be cheap and small, but it wasn't.

Here's the stuff I don't like:

The small pocket is separated only from the main compartment with mesh. That means if I put my earbuds in there, they are getting dirtied by my shoes in the main part of the bag.

Straps are too small to wear as a backpack when the bag is full.. made for a child really.

Not really that big as the other reviews seemed to indicate. It's a tight fit for my shoes, a pair of shorts, and weight lifting gloves.

Mesh is very thin.

Also, I don't think all the pictures on this page are for the same item. As you will see, some appear to be very dense soft mesh like a pair of gym shorts. My buddy has one like this and its very nice. The one I got was very thin mesh.

All of this probably would have added up to a 3 star review, except the thing broke apart at the seam after only a couple of months.

Arc'teryx Blade 15 Backpack - 915cu in

As I said, this is a very strange laptop backpack.

Here's what I like:

It's kind of a briefcase turned on its side so you can wear it as a backpack. The construction quality, as always with Arc'Teryx, is top-notch. It's also very professional-looking. You could carry this to a business meeting using the side handle, and few people would notice it's actually a backpack.

The straps are great. Well-padded and structured. The framesheet is awesome, too. Makes it really supportive.

The laptop "sling" is a great alternative to padded bags. You get great protection without bulky padding.

Here's what I don't like:

The storage is barely accessible. The zippers are way too short; they don't even go the full length of the pockets. If all you are doing is inserting manila folders, you'll find it works fine. But I can't even figure out how you would put a pen in some of the pen slots, much less clothes. Even dropping your power brick in the main pocket is more awkward than it should be.

The laptop pocket is also hard to get at. You really have to squeeze your hand into the pocket to fasten the velcro retaining strap. It's badly-sized for my 14" ThinkPad.

The back is actually quite large, too. It's thin, but the length and width are pretty big. I would not call this compact by any stretch.

All in all, it's not worth $150. It may be well-built, but it is ill-conceived. I'm sending it back.

Dakine 33-Litre Interval Wet/Dry Pack

First, I got to note that I was specifically looking for a bag to take outdoors, and that does not have a laptop compartment, or bunch of pen organizers (who uses pens, these days, right?). Turns out that the choice for that type of bag is very limited, all the packs these days are oriented towards laptop-carrying folks. I already have a bag that I use for that, so my goal was to get something that's durable and comfortable, and can be taken to the beach, hike, or a bike ride. Dakine bags are all very well made, and this one is no exception. Stitching is nice, and materials are great. This bag is great all around, I can fit a couple of beach towels, some drinks and snacks, my sunglasses, and some light surf gear and head to the beach. The wetsuit pocket isn't big enough to fit a full-sized wetsuit, but great for bringing back wet booties or board shorts without getting everything else wet. The front cooler pocket holds a lot more than seems at first, and is really handy. Straps are comfortable, and the sternum strap is good for using this when biking particularly to prevent straps from sliding back.

These backpacks are beautiful. If you find a colorway that fits you well, go for it! My only advice is to TAKE NOTICE OF THE DIMENSIONS.

It is completely my own fault, but I did not look at the dimensions. Instead of a "normal" sized backpack, this is a smaller "daytrip" kind of backpack. I plan to use mine for a few items for hiking, etc. so it will still suit my purpose but for anyone that may consider these as bookbags, they do not seem like they will hold big clunky textbooks (even though one or two may fit).

Overall, these are great bags. They are well made, and seem to be of GOOD QUALITY. Worth the price.

I just received the backpack, and I love everything about it except for the most crucial part. The construction! The seams are sewn so poorly. They are uneven, some of the stitching goes way off the path, and where they locked the stich they ran over the spot several times and it looks like chicken scratch. This is not the JansSport stiching that I'm used to.

Maybe I just got a faulty one, so emailed the company this morning about an exchange. I'm still waiting for a response. What I received is worth about $6 in an outdoor Thai market (just to give you a visual) not the $40 plus shipping that I paid.

My daughter is two and a half and LOVES Yo Gabba Gabba. She watches it a lot so when I saw this backpack I knew she'd love it. This backpack appears to be well constructed and padded. I can't say much about the durability, since I just received it.

It's advertised as being able to accommodate a 17" laptop, however my ThinkPad T61, with a 15.4" screen, will not fit in the laptop pocket. It's just a little bit too wide for the pocket. I believe the issue lies in the fact that my ThinkPad was purchased in 2007, when 16x10 aspect ratios were the standard for laptops, rather than the current standard of 16x9. This makes a current 15-16" laptop a little narrower (and a little longer) than one with a 16x10 aspect ratio like mine. ThinkPad's are also known for their sturdy construction, which may make it slightly larger than an average consumer-grade laptop. I imagine this bag would fit a 16x9 15-16" screen laptop, but if yours is older, like mine, be careful. That being said, I've been thinking for a while now about getting a new laptop, so I think I'll keep this bag and store my laptop in a padded sleeve inside of it until I can afford to upgrade.

For comparison, my ThinkPad is 10" wide and 1.25" thick.

So overall, I'm happy with it, but a little disappointed that it can't fit my laptop.

This bag served me well for four months. It fit my thin, 16" laptop (Acer's Aspire Timeline X), and the front pouch was handy for carrying the power supply.

One of my favorite features of the bag is its should strap. Yesterday, however, the strap broke in a parking lot, causing the bag--with the laptop in it--to tumble to the pavement. At first I assumed that the hook which removes the strap had come open. But no--the stitching that attaches the strap's anchor to the bag had come unraveled. Very poor workmanship, especially considering that the case hadn't been used for anything else besides carrying my laptop to and from work and is only four months old.

I got lucky this time (computer survived the fall) but will never use or buy a product from this company again. Spend the extra money to get a better quality carrier for your laptop.

This bag is as advertised in terms of design, which I liked, and size. The pocket is great, padded, and zips up. However, it has that cheap plastic smell and makes everything smell like that. Plus, I bought this sleeve because it had the shoulder strap, but the strap squeaks when you're walking and it's right up near your ear but I couldn't locate it or stop it.

My wife loves this sleeve. She has a 15.6" laptop and uses this to carry it. The padding is reasonably thick. Of course, it's a sleeve, not a hard-shell case, so I wouldn't expect it to protect from a high impact fall or crush, but I would recommend this to protect your laptop from scratches and minor impacts. Plus it looks cool, has a shoulder strap, and is reasonably priced.

The product is great, easy to carry, the pocket awesome to carry cord! The smell of rubber at first is too strong and it penetrates into your clothing but is less or you get used to it! The bad thing was that it not arrived on time, it was miss sent and I had to contact them twice to find out where it was!!!

I needed something to carry on a Hawaii Tour that would hold everything I needed & then some. I really liked all the different sized pockets inside & outside. I could carry it over my shoulder or lengthen the strap & wear it across the front. It held (on occasion) all of my necessities, my cell phone, our itinery folder, camera & video batteries, plus the video camera! It wasn't too heavy to carry, even with all of my stuff in it. I love this bag!!

I am a Healthy Back Bag devotee I have this same size bag in khaki, and use it most days. I am almost oblivious to it being on my shoulder it is so easy to wear. While the khaki works with just about anything I have on, black is my preference for so many accessories I choose, so I decided to add this to my collection.

NOTE: I also bought the extra-small bag of the same variety, also in black, as I wanted a very small bag to accommodate my ultra-essential items when we went to dinner, without toting a cumbersome item to enclose my stuff.

I recently bought an extra-small healthy back bag in black microfiber and am amazed at how much stuff it holds(wallet, cell phone, glasses case, digital camera, address book, etc.)Getting ready to wash it for the first time as the microfiber fabric tends to spot. Just bought a taupe distressed nylon bag in "small" (which is anything but small) and can't wait to use it. If you're into high fashion, these bags are probably not for you, but if you need to carry a lot of "stuff" around, it's great!

I bought a black AmeriBag Healthy Back Bag extra small and I love it. It's just the right size for me. I bought it before I noticed "extra small" at the end of the name so I was worried it would be too small to carry everything. Thankfully I was wrong since everything fits. I have my wallet, check book, assorted junk, and pda inside with room to spare.

However, I have 1 small problem. The interior pockets tend to stick out which makes it a pain to get to my wallet. I fixed the problem with some velcro.

This was purchased for my kindergartener and 2 years later it's still in great shape. Even after being overstuffed, the zippers are holding strong. The design is still just as prettyno scratching or any wear marks. Great product.

This is now my daughter's 2nd one. The 1st one got 2 small rips in the bottom after 2 years of rough use. Considering how often it gets dumped or tossed on the floor, dropped out of the car, and even dragged inside, this backpack has really held up. But the best thing for us is the 'see through' design. My daughter is constantly forgetting things and will 'assume' it is in there (instead of unzipping to check). So, this backpack definitely helps with that problem! She can just 'look' from the outside to see if she has everything. It is also very unique so it is easy for her to spot in the 20 some odd backpacks piled up at school.

My daughter loved this backpack, no loves this backpack. Since it is required that it be see-though, I thought it would be perfect. I could even wash it and dry on very low to get out the wrinkles. It ripped one day, and it got huge quick. It's taped with packaging tape right now. It will have to be replaced. I am thinking of buying another one just like it, but I haven't made up my mind.

the bag is very nice and it looks like it would carry my laptop well only one problem it says a 17 inch laptop will fit and mine doesnt too get it in the bag the corners of the of the laptop are bulging out through the zipper...

Awesome product. Sturdy, durable and looks great. Was in India for couple of months hauling 20+ pounds in this bag. It is rugged and has lots of room.

Pros : A lot of compartments, lots of space for everything, and more, adequately protects laptop and everything you need.

Cons : Feels bulky and extremely heavy. Too many metallic parts makes it feel clunky.
