This back pack was just as described, and the color is way better in person then on the picture, very nice blue. The material is very durable and I know it will last a very long time. This backpack is also big enough without looking like the usual over the top backpacks out there, the straps are easy to adjust as well. Osprey Men's Manta 36 Hydration Pack

Recently I was out hiking and a friend asked me how much I thought a good daypack would be. I told him that my dream pack was the Osprey Manta, but I didn't own it yet. When I went online to send him a link, I discovered that they had updated the series for 2013! It's slightly more expensive than the previous model, but I went ahead and bought it anyways. Here are some thoughts.

If you go to Osprey's website, You'll notice that this pack is listed as having lots of improvements over the previous years model. But what are they? There is no major feature that has been listed as having changed. All the pockets are in the same place. It's certainly possible that they adjusted the fit some, but since I didn't own the first pack I couldn't comment. As I looked at the specs, however, it became apparent that there are two huge differences.

The first difference is the size of the bag. The previous model is listed with the M/L size as 30L. In this model the M/L size is 36L. That's 1800 cu. in. for the previous model versus 2197 in the new. The smaller size went from 26L to 34L, a major increase. Though I only checked out the old versions in store, I can say that the main compartment and the electronics pocket both seem quite a bit larger.

The second major difference is the weight of the bag. Even though quite a bit of storage space was gained, the weight of the bag actually went down! The M/L bag in the previous model weight 3 lbs 2 oz, which is quite heavy for a day pack. The 2013 model comes in at 2 lbs 6 oz. More space for less weight? Yes please! I do not know if the weight of the bag is including the hydration system or not. Either way, it's gone down in weight.

The One feature I was the most excited about was the airscape back panel. From the looks of it (and the way it carries empty), you'd think that the actual bag never touches your back. This is not true. The more weight you carry and (more importantly), the more water you put in the 3 liter bladder, the more the bag sits on your back. The hydration system is designed to not fill into the actual space inside your pack (though it does some), but rather into the space in the mesh. Just don't expect that there's a full breeze through there all the time. However, the suspension is exceptionally cool! Even though parts of it do touch your back when full, there are still other parts that don't. Plus, the texture of the panel underneath the mesh has ridges on it, so air flows through very well. It's the coolest pack I've ever used.

The Hydration system is excellent. I've been hiking primarily with the platypus system of various sizes for the last 10 years. Osprey's hydration system is absolutely excellent in comparison (though the platypus is still excellent). I never detected any taste from the plastic. The bite valve has a very strong flow to it and is easy to depress with your teeth. The handle, cap, and molded back to the bladder are all excellent. One cool feature is that there is a track for the hose to run up on the panel so it stays in place. I love that there is a separate pocket for the hydration pack. The only thing to note is that the hose just comes directly out of the zipper, which once opened up some as I hiked. It's really not a problem though. I also love the way it twists back on itself to shut off.

The best feature about the system is the way the hose sits on your body. Three things contribute to this. 1. The hose is the perfect length. No extra hanging about. 2. There are straps for the hose to run through on the shoulder straps. The hose isn't detachable like on my platypus, but it's quite easy to thread in and out. 3. the magnetic sternum strap/bite valve is ingenious!

Pack size. I mostly do day hikes. I own a osprey aether 60 that's about 10 years old, but I'm a pretty light hiker so I'm capable of using a pack like this even for overnights. A few years ago I used a 30L black diamond sidewinder for a 5 day trip. I did it, but it was ready to burst! I filled this pack up with a similar load to see what it felt like. I was able to do it, but it takes a bit more planning. The carrying capacity of this pack is spread out over it's many pockets. As a day pack it's huge and works exactly as planned. If you're going to need to carry large capacity loads for any reason, be aware that you'll need to spread it out to make it fit. Also, when the pack is fully loaded I attempted to slide the water bladder in. It needed a little help, but I got it in with only minor effort.

Other features: This pack has it all. So many things to talk about. My favorite feature (and the most useful IMHO) is one that isn't as flashy. I love the dual side compression straps. My last day pack only had single straps. This feature makes it so nice to tighten down a smaller load and keep the pack balanced and flat.

The hip belt isn't a real load bearing hipbelt that lifts all of the weight off your shoulders, but it is better than many. It might lift a bit more weight but I'm unable to tighten it that much. I'm 6'1 185lbs. I didn't expect it to carry like a overnight pack though. I find it incredibly secure. The hipbelt pockets are nice but they sit back pretty far. I carry snacks for me and chapstick in one of them, and in the other I carry snacks for my dog.

I love that there is a rainfly built in to the bag. It's easy to deploy and has it's own pocket. It's sewn on so it can't be lost (UPDATE: it's actually got velcro if you want to take if off). There a number of other nice outside pockets, including the shove it pocket (which is really just the space between the two main compartments), the front stretch pocket (a good size), and the side stretch pockets. The side stretch pockets are nice but the lower side compression straps do cover them a bit.

Finally, the stow as you go pole straps are a really cool idea. What impressed me so much about them is where the poles end up sitting on your body when stowed. I can walk normally and the poles stay tucked to the inside of my body, away from my arms. It's a neat idea.

It's a dream pack. I love it. If you have any questions post them below and I'll give you an update.

UPDATE May 16, 2013: I've hiked a good number of miles now with this pack. I've also used it as a carry on bag. It's doing great! I wanted to mention that yesterday I managed to not put the cap on the water bladder properly, which caused some leakage. It actually happened twice! It was my error, but learn from my mistake and just make sure that you do indeed check to make sure it isn't leaking BEFORE you put it in your pack.

My son loves this backpack. To me it seems fantastically overpriced, but so do a lot of things. He uses it for biking and just general use. Seems very well made.

I love this pack. But my thing is... I don't like clutter and I don't like constantly switching packs--so I wanted a pack I could hike with, commute around town, and hit up campus with (laptop and all). Needless to say, I had to return this pack because of the suspended back. It makes it nearly impossible to tote around my laptop with confidence. The suspended back makes the backpack fall forward when my laptop is in it. The straps at the top, on the sides, make loading more difficult than necessary as well.

While I loved all the features, I am not willing to drop a considerable amount of money when the backpack does not meet all my needs.

As an amateur photographer I use this pack a lot for day hikes with my camera. Moved up from a smaller osprey for that reason. This pack is large enough to put a good sized foam camera insert with plenty of room for clothes food, etc. The magnet on the bite valve is a simple but great idea to keep it handy. Ospreys have a combination of quality construction and light weight that is just what I needed. Would recommend their products.

Wenger Computer Backpack - Red

I got this bag right after finishing school in Dec. Since I graduated I do not need to take a bag with me as much as I did when I was a student, so I haven't used it a lot. I read about people having trouble with their 15" laptops not fitting, I wasn't worried about mine fitting cause I got a 12" laptop, but I tried my parents 15" Fujitsu to see how it fit. Its a pretty thick computer. It was very very tight. Maybe it would stretch out the pocket a bit over time, but it was a real pain to get it in and out. The tags on the bag do say fits MOST 15" laptops.

I came across this bag at Best Buy. Before I saw it I had been planning on getting a Lowepro laptop and camera backpack, since I have one Lowepro camera backpack which I mostly like. Problem with the Lowepro bags were that I couldn't find them in any stores to look at, and the two models I was looking at online were $150-190, and I didn't even really like them that much. Also I don't need to take my camera gear with me all the time, only when taking trips. Anyway, this bag looked well made and it was only around $50. After spending some time online and in stores looking at bags while I waited for my computer to arrive I decided on this one.

I had worried a little about how to pack all my camera gear if I have this bag when I travel, I didn't want to have to take this bag and a camera bag. But as it turns out, the big compartment in this bag is big enough to hold the padded insert from my Lowepro Rover AW camera backpack.

Pros:

Lots of pockets, lots of space.

Mesh pockets on the side are good for drinks.

Seems well made, but I haven't really put it to the test yet, and I haven't owned it long enough to see how it will hold up over time.

No waist belt. (some might consider that a con...)

Stands up by its self.

Compression straps (I think they're called) on the sides.

Cons:

All my complaints seem to be in one compartment. In one of the compartments on the front, which has slots for various small items, there are no pen slots. I really like pen slots. I put my pens and pencils in one of the wider pockets, but if the bag gets turned upside down they all fall out.

Same compartment: all the wider pockets are too narrow for anything I want to put in them, such as business card case, electronic dictionary, etc. It could just be me that thinks they are too narrow, but I think other people will feel the same way.

Choice of colors. I read on Amazon that the gray model is more like silver, so I got red. I would have preferred all black.

Could use some more padding at the top of the computer compartment.

These things I listed as cons are really minor though. Just the things that could have made it an absolutely perfect bag.

I am sure I will have more to say about this bag once I get to take it on a trip.

UPDATE 3/11/08 I have had the bag for about a year now. Its held up well, but it doesn't see daily use. I took it on one trip to Korea and Japan. I like the big open pocket on the front of the bag. Its good for holding things you want easy access to. It looks like the bag is available in blue now. Silver and red were the only choices when I bought it last year. My other complains when I first wrote the review are still the same. Also, the bag no longer stands up by its self as well as it did when it was new. I still really like the bag.

This is an excellent backback. I did a lot of research on what I needed in a laptop tote. I wasn't sure about how it would handle as I traveled through the airports. It handled extremely well as I found out.

The great points:

1) Incredible amount of room with lots of pockets.

2) A separate compartment for the laptop which makes it easier to pull the laptop out while going through security. The strap holding the laptop in is also very easy to open and it keeps the laptop from moving around.

3) The open pocket so that you can stuff itinieries and paperbacks in there as you get on and off the plane.

4) The shoulder straps are easily adjustable and very comfortable.

5) The padding is also very comfortable, I sometimes forget that I have it on.

6) Cool little pocket atop the pack for MP3 players or for wallets.

7) Hard core handle up top for easy and confident transfer.

Not so cool:

1) The small doodad bag up front where you are supposed to stash keys, cell phones, pens and pencils does not have a double zipper so it can easily be wide open without you knowing.

2) The second handle on top of the pack is skimpy and makes no sense.

Overall, I love it and I enjoy using it as I travel about. The pack is very well designed and holds some very pleasant and surprising features.

I wanted to follow up the reviewer that said a 15.4" computer will not fit in this pack. Because of this review, I took my HP dv5000, 15.4" notebook to Best Buy to see if this backpack would be suitable for me. My computer fit in it just fine. Perhaps Wenger has made adjustments to the design, perhaps the reviewer got a lemon, or perhaps not all 15.4" screeened laptops are within the tolerances that Wenger desgined for. Regardless my 15.4" computer fit in this pack just fine and I will be buying it.

I absolutely LOVE THIS BACKPACK!!! In the months it took me to find this product I probably tried every other brand of backpack on the market and none of them come close to the comfort, capacity and styling of this bag. It is well built. I fly from Fl to Ca frequently and carry a Fujitsu T4020 laptop, along with literally a ton of books. With my previous bags my back would ache under the weight, but with this one I hardly feel like I have it on. It fits perfectly under my seat even on the small commuter plane. I particularly like the padded compartment (intended for an ipod or CD player) which I use for my digital voice recorders and camera. I also like the way the padding supports the weight yet still allows for the air to circulate -an important factor for those living in hot climates to consider.

After wearing a pack for most of my adult life (I'm U.S. Marine), I've searched for the best civilian pack to carry the daily stuff in for day trips. This is by far the best design I've seen yet. I've tried many cheap one, ones that I've rebuild, even old military packs. All either lacked quality of construction or were uncomfortable to wear. Old Military packs are nice but lack style and they are green. No pack seems perfect but this is as close as I've found in a 20 year search. Good points are the padding, the design of the inside pockets and the straps. The only weak spot is the front zipper around the top front pouch.

I bought this backpack for my daughter who is in 5th grade. I figured she could use the laptop pouch later on when she actually had a laptop to use. The backpack is sturdy and rolls well. My suggestions to improve the design would be to make the handle smoother to pull and also to not have the shaft protrude so far into the main compartment. Space is reduced fairly dramatically with the interior of the handle but I guess there isn't a lot you can do about that. I felt the Calpack backpacks had more room for books but weren't quite as sturdy as this pack and also not as nice looking. My daughter can fit her lunch, her binder, and one book but not much else.

Pluses: rolls well, looks great, sturdy

Minuses: space capacity not as good as other backpacks, handle retraction not very smooth.

I just purchased on 7/24/2007 for the 2007-2008 school year and already the handle on the bag is broken. I like the material and the straps, but this shouldn't be happening already.

An excellent, very sturdy, fairly light-weight bag, for either wheels or backpack. It looks like it's made of a truly tough material, has a couple of front zippered pockets a smallish one for large iPod-type objects, and a really large one with inner pockets and flaps and pencil-holders sketchbooks, folders, magazines, etc probably even a small laptop. And the main compartment is, of course, huge easily stores a few days' clothes and toiletries, plus odds & ends has a couple of good-size inner pockets also. Sturdy telescoping handle (mechanism takes up a small amount of space on the back surface of the large compartment.) Sturdy-looking wheels. Just got back from a trip to the Mainland with this bag as carry-on oh, yes, there's also a good-size outside pocket on the back for magazines and last-minute purchases (water bottle, newspaper, book etc...)

A fantastic buy, IMHO!

This bag held up well travelling as a rolling carryon on a medium-length trip with a plane change, 3 other carryons, a car seat and a baby. So you can guess it got a little abuse on the trip, but it held up fine. No problems with the single strut handle or the wheels. It never once did that annoying flip/roll that my carryons sometimes do.

I didn't think I'd like the way the laptop is contained in the bag: the pocket is in the front flap instead of the back of the bag. But it worked just fine and my fears of the laptop slipping out when I opened the bag were unfounded. I have a big, heavy 17" Toshiba monster and it fit perfectly, along with all my other equipment.

The only complaint I would have is that with the weight of the bag, computer and accessories, I did not even attempt to use it as a backpack and I'm not sure I ever would.

Dakine Girls Mission Hydration Pack

This bag is perfect for me. I bought it because i started biking 10-20+ miles a week for work and errands. It fits everything really well. Its very durable, super comfortable, and sturdy. Its an added bonus that it has a special padded pocket for my snowboarding goggles, I can't wait to try it on the slopes. You can't tell from the picture but it has chest and waist buckles so it doesn't slide around. I don't clip it while biking because it fits snugly without being too tight and doesn't jostle around. Its also really well padded so its comfortable and even though i bike in 100+ degree weather it doesn't make me feel uncomfortably warm because it has great air flow, to keep me cool enough and not a burden.

I bought this backpack without realizing it had straps to go around the waist and chest. Without clipping these straps, the backpack looks awkward and bulky. I wouldn't recommend buying this for school; However, it is sturdy enough for long trips.

P.S. While the pattern was the same as in the picture advertised, the light purple/blue in the background of the lacey pattern is actually grey. Also, the inside of the entire backpack is lined in a soft velvet-like fabric.

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. He wanted a functional, but not too bulky back pack. So far the ful Free Fall'n backpack has proven to be both these things and he absolutely loves it. There's tons of space for both your laptop and books in the main compartment. Also, there's many side compartments for whatever storage one might need. If you need a functional backpack that's not too big, this is the one for you.

First, let me say that this backpack has not yet stood the test of time. I have had it for less than a week.

It does, however, look and feel like a well built and heavy duty backpack.

The backpack doesn't sag while you wear it, or pull/press on particular areas of the body. It feels like a solid mass which sits equally across the upper back. As such, it is very comfortable.

The bottom of the pack is made of a rubbery material which is thick and waterproof. You shouldn't worry about setting it down when the ground is wet.

As the other reviewer has noted, there are many small compartments throughout the pack. There are really more than I know what to do with. The large compartment currently contains my laptop (in a padded internal compartment) and my textbooks, including a hefty physics book. I haven't even touched the middle compartment yet, but I'm sure that I'll find something to do with it. It might be good for my field gear (i.e. rock hammer, etc.).

My one issue is that my laptop is 14.1". It fits very snugly in the laptop compartment with little if any wiggle room. This is great for me, but I don't know how you are going to fit a 17" laptop into it, as is advertised.

UPDATE 03/08/11:

I have now had this for a little over 5 months, exclusively for transporting school supplies. I haven't used it in any rough activity. Through normal use, the larger front pocket has gradually torn away just above the zipper for about the length of the zipper. A smaller tear is appearing in the small front-bottom pocket. A tear is also making an appearance near the zipper of the large pocket (which houses the laptop).

The laptop pocket appears to be sufficient, but the padding is nowhere near so. My Thinkpad's corner was cracked. I did not abuse it in any way, such as dropping it into the pocket haphazardly. Setting the backpack on the floor was enough for it to crack the corner of my $900 computer. That crack has grown to reveal parts of the circuit board.

I bought this backpack for $30, as it looked like a dependable and high quality backpack. I ended up with garbage and the inevitable loss of a really nice $900 dollar computer.

My 50 dollar Coleman backpack that this replaced lasted over 5 years, during which I used it for everything from carrying books and a computer around, to carrying 50lb of rocks from a quarry. It never reached nearly the same amount of damage as the Ful did, which never had the same abuse.

When I first got this bag I was sorta disappointed that it had only one big full size compartment [the next compartment by size is big, but has not width stitched into it]. But I've been using this one for close to a month now and its already been super useful. I changed apartments and I could pack this bag upo with so much stuff without the zippers being all stretched out and about to give. There are so many little pouches that I had no idea what I'd do with initially, but over time they've all got their reason. It looks alright and you can see that its a bigger that average bag, but the one draw back is that it takes a while to get used to on your back. Its comfortable even with heavy loads but coz of its unusual size it feels different than other bags you'd have worn on your back.

So now 4 months into using this bag, the left shoulder strap is ripping. The material is tearing, not the stitching. The surprising part is that I'm a right handed and if I ever pick the bag up with the straps, I use the right strap and that has no rip or any signs of giving! Also, I contacted FUL about this problem and haven't been getting very prompt response from them :( Sad, coz I liked this bag and might have to work a little harder to get the warranty validated which decreases my love for the bag..

I really like the backpack style and compartments but the description says it will fit up to a 17" laptop. I have a 16.5" and when I put it in the sleeve the flap doesn't cover the end and the zipper rubs against the corners. I also have to pull up on the zippers when closing it to get it to go over the corners.

Kelty Rain Cover

Well, its a cover to prevent rain from soaking your gear, and it works. The fit is good, and the mesh storage pouch is handy to keep the cover in its place when not deployed.

I would like to add the size recommendation by Kelty, they recommend Medium for pack of 3000 cu/inches and less, and Large for packs over 3000 cu/inches.

I have a Red Cloud 6650 and the cover fits great. No major folds or "valleys" to collect water that could add unnecessary weight, run down into the pack, and most importantly no water will be splashing down the back of my neck. I definately recommend having one in your backpack at all times, you never know when Mother Nature will throw you a curve ball.

I got this in the mail the other day. The color is not a blue-gray like the picture but rather a deep forest green. The color wasn't an issue for me. Just a small surprise and I doubled checked that it was the right product.

I have a Kelty Redwing 50 (3100 cubic inches) so I ordered the large size though it's right at the border between the 3000 or smaller for the small and 3000 or larger for the large. I tested it out and it really seems a bit or large for the Redwing 50 (someone even made the joke that I could use it as a makeshift tent if it came down to it). I feel like there should be a medium size so the cover won't be too big nor too small of medium sized packs. I uploaded a photo of how large it can be before cinching it up which is almost double the size of the Redwing 50 ( http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/6135fyD3nNL.jpg ). It makes my pack seem a bit more bulky than it is.

In a month, I plan on using this rain cover backpacking and hiking in Korea during the rainy season with heavy rain and typhoons and I'll update my review on how it holds up.

This cover works perfectly. It fits over your bag and allows you to pull it tight. If you adjust the string, the only part of your bag that will be exposed is the straps. Nothing will get wet. The water bounces right off of the cover. It has slits in the cover to let the straps come through. If you plan on using your bag in rainy weather, this is the bag for you. No doubt BUY this cover.

Element Men's Mohave 2.0

The backpack is pretty decent. Nothing against the backpack, but this was one of the biggest backpacks I could find but still isn't quite big enough for me. Though being a decent sized backpack, it does not fit my 15" laptop inside the laptop pocket...I was quite confused by this, as I've seen smaller backpacks with bigger laptop sleeves. For a normal person, who carts around books and gear-I would say this is a good backpack and will fit all of your gear. However, If you're like me, and take your bag shopping with you or like to carry around everything but the kitchen sink, this bag is comes close, but is still 2" irritatingly short of being able to fit everything I needed.

It seems to be well constructed, however the straps don't have much padding in them, so when the pack is full you definitely feel it because it does not have waist straps. The side pockets are prefect for carrying around little things like change, chapstick, ID cards, money, etc. The top pocket is a bit awkward to put this into and get things out of because the opening is small but the pocket is quite spacious. The small front pocket is essentially useless and not easily accessible when the backpack is full-I have small hands and have a hard time pulling things out of the front pocket so I can imagine how a man is going to be able to stick his hand in there.

Overall, I think the backpack is a pretty decent backpackI wouldn't go around raving about it, but it has done it's job so far.

The purchase came on time and was just what we had expected it would be thanx. I would order it again

Very well made backpack. Pluses are that's it not huge, big enough for an overnight or daypacking, not so big it ends up half-empty and unbalanced as some of the other backpacks can be when you aren't using it for camping. Pockets are smaller, too, which is also a plus, since finding small things in long deep pockets is often more frustrating than useful. All the seams are well sewn, the straps are padded and reinforced remarkably well, zipper pulls are solid all in all its exactly what I was looking for.

So far I really like this bag! The only thing I would change would be adding one divider in the bag. Since it's so big, things can get a little lost in the main section without something to separate your stuff. It is big enough to fit everything I need, and I have 3 kids in diapers: newborn, 15 months, and 2 1/2. I have plenty of diapers and wipes, extra clothes, receiving blanket, food, water bottles, small coloring books, my wallet, and a bunch of odds and ends. It's not too heavy to carry even with all their stuff and is comfortable.

The only thing wrong with this diaper bag is that I didn't know about it sooner and that I have never seen it sold in stores! Seriously, it's compact but fits everything. There are many little pockets inside to hold all the little baby things you need securely. I like the material because it does not stain easy. The straps are comfortable and the right length. The side pockets meant for bottles and sipppy cups actual hold the bottle and sippy cups without slipping out like most of my diaper bags. The pack also stands up by itself which is so handy when you are changing a one year old because you dont have to dig through everything. The changing pad that comes with is a little small if you have a toddler but you can easily pick up a bigger one if needed. I am so happy to have this now and not have a bulky bag hanging off my shoulder all the time!

First yes I would recommend it, secondly I choose this item because I wanted equal weight on my shoulders and because I carry my lil one in his carrier and wanted to be able to switch sides without the hassle of a shoulder/messenger style diaper bag...It holds everything and more for the little one and for my stuff. I use the front and side pockets for my items. I breastfeed so I don't have bottles and formula but this bag is still good for a person that formula feeds. Its cute too!!!

This is a large bag, too large for everyday use. The interior is black, which I hate, because it is hard to see and find things. The overall construction is not very sturdy. It appears that if you stuff the bag to full capacity as a diaper bag, the bag may break soon.

The bag has 2 very large exterior bottle pockets, each can probably hold 2 water bottles. One large zippered compartment with 3 pockets inside and one large slip pocket right at the front. Interior: 2 mesh pockets, 2 side bottle pockets, 2 slip pockets, and 1 zippered pocket. Great that this bag has many pockets inside and out.

But...please manufacturer... no black linings inside a diaper bag. Eyes get very tired searching for things. Also, the exterior front slip pocket should be zippered, with slip pockets inside for cell phone, etc. Moms don't want to open the large main compartment just to access cell phone which could happen several times in an hour.

To me, this bag could be a good bag for picnic.

Though it came in a frighteningly small package, this backpack was bigger than expected and very roomy, a great size for holding everything needed for school. Everything seems to be stitched together well, the 'leather' straps are a bit thin but they're just for show anyway (the bag actually latches closed with magnetic snaps). The canvas is good material, and pretty thick. Also, this got to me VERY quickly after ordering (that's why the shipping price is so high I guess), which I'm pretty satisfied with. I would like to put it out that I purchased this product with the intent to use it on a daily basis for school.

It is a stylish and adorable Canvas bag and to my surprise, it held more than I expected, so that was a plus to me. It has two pockets on the side that close with magnet buttons (which I personally do not use often), a front zipper pocket and a small pocket inside to keep pencils, phones, or any tiny objects secure and not jingling around inside the bag.

Now, I tend to treat my bags and purses pretty roughly seeing as I'm always in a rush. So far with this item, it's sturdiness is impressive seeing as when I received the product, at first glance It didn't seem to be suitable for poor treatment.

However, It did not occur to me until after I began using this bag that the more weight I put inside, the more uncomfortable it became. The straps have no cushion to it whatsoever, so that is a major downside for me seeing as I was constantly walking around with it.

Overall, it was a decent purchase. Though I no longer use this bag and I originally intended (as a school backpack) I find it nice to use when going out to places, spending a night at a friend's home, or taking a binder or two inside it to study at the library.

This bag turned out to be better then I thought. The size is great. This bag holds everything. I was able to multi task by carrying my 15.5 inch laptop with accersories and still had plenty of room for more. The cooler portion of the bag is great for can berverages but could stand to be a little deeper. Overall, this bag can be used for more than whats its made for. Excellent buy, Great price.

I had never looked twice at a Dakine pack until I saw this one in Denim while shopping for a new one at my local sporting goods store. I went ahead and bought it after comparing it to every other pack in the store (I'm a picky shopper) and I'm really glad I did. Here's why:

-I wanted a backpack that would look equally as good around my college campus as it would on the trails, and this delivers. It caught my eye immediately this color is cool-looking and unique, but still rugged and masculine, and the pack as a whole is a very understated, functional design.

-I am pleased with the quality so far. I have no patience whatsoever for shoddy build quality in things I buy, but this feels solid and well-constructed. Time and use are the real tests of quality of course, but initially this pack seems like it will last a long time.

-The pockets are pretty well designed, but I would have really appreciated a zippered pouch inside the main panel for change, keys and the like. I was really surprised they didn't incorporate that. The bottom pouch is insulated for cold drinks and the like.

-This is not a small backpack with 1900ci of room I think its one of the bigger packs they make. I hate bulky or baggy backpacks, but this isn't one of them. It has a ton of room, but with a light load it stays low-profile and keeps its shape. You get all the volume without looking like a dork.

HIGHLY recommended, especially for bigger people (I'm 6'2, 200 and it looks 'just right' on me.) Already planning to buy another Dakine model!

This is the best backpack I've ever had. I have a total of 4 Dakine backpacks!

I have the Dakine Mission, Recon, LG Campus, and Interval. The recon is such

a versatile bag. I use it for school and running errands! I love using it for school because

it's easy to stay organized with the organizer pocket.

the insulated cooler pocket comes in handy wherever I am. I stash in fruit and is still cold 4 hours

later. It's awesome! I eat 5 times a day to stay healthy and the cooler pocket

allows me to keep my weight in check!

-The fleece lined pocket is great. My glasses are always shiny and scratch-free

-there is a waterproof section to hold a swim suit or wet suit! Great for a trip to the beach

MY FAVORITE PART OF THIS BAG is the secret pocket on the very bottom left of the backpack. I put

my wallet in there. Whenever I go to starbucks and pay for my Frappe I just unzip it and take out

my wallet w/o taking off my backpack! It's so convenient.

I recommend this if you like a light, durable,stylish, and dependable.

*oh and all Dakine backpacks look skinny even though you might put a bunch of stuff in it. It wont make you

look like a turtle :)

I love the idea of this backpack but it is a little flimsy but a fun color! It does the job and more preschool size... not for the big school.

It's a little bit small and thinner that I thought it would be, but my son loves it. The color pattern (we chose camouflage)looks exactly the same as in the picture. The bag's room is spacious too.
