Osprey Packs Kestrel 58 Backpack
Some of the more enthusiastic boys have outgrown car camping so I decided to take them for a weekend backpacking trip. Having left my dependable external frame pack back in Utah years ago, I went on a quest to find a new pack. I really loved my old external frame but decided to try a higher quality internal frame pack.
After a lot of looking I ended up vacillating between an Osprey Kestral, Osprey Atmos, and an Osprey Aether. Ultimately, I purchased the Kestrel 58. Since the weekend backpacking trip was the first time any of the boys had backpacked (our troop does own a handful of Teton 3400 packs), I took a bit more weight than I normally would have--35lbs. Over 2.5 days I did 18 miles through sand. I had absolutely no legitimate problems with the pack. In fact, the pack transferred the weight to my hips so effectively that I had no back discomfort or soreness during or after the trip.
I am not going to bother with what I liked about the pack; rather I am going to explain what I mean by "no legitimate problems with the pack."
* The hip belt pockets were small. This is a nit-picky complaint and since most packs do not even have hip belt pockets, this is not a legitimate complaint.
* I would have liked more pockets in the pack, but by design, internal frame packs have fewer pockets. So again, this is not really a legit complaint since the Kestrel had as many if not more pockets than most external frame packs I have looked at.
* HERE IS THE SEMI LEGIT COMPLAINT the tension straps would loosen up over time. I am not sure if this is a common problem with the pack or is something that may have been caused by the humidity. Regardless, it took mere seconds to adjust the tension while trekking along, and a simple alligator clip will solve the problem (which I am headed out to buy this weekend)
The Kestrel is a great pack, and one that I would recommend. Having grown up an avid hiker, my only regret was not deciding to buy one of the more expensive and advanced packs offered by Osprey--and let's be honest, the Kestrel is not exactly cheap. If I had to do it again, I would probably get the Aether, or maybe even spring for the extremely expensive Argon, which I never even originally considered because of the price.
Look, if you want a great pack and are not someone like me who spent his youth camping and hiking, buy the pack, you will be very very pleased. Heck, the only part of me that is not pleased with the purchase is the part of me that is planning a weeklong backpacking trip in the Grand Tetons in May/June 2013.They said this bag was in perfect condition. And it is! And I got it for like what... $70 less than regular price! It's big enough for sure. I might even have too much spaceI'm back packing through Costa Rica. I guess I'll have room for souvenirs.

You absolutely CANNOT go wrong with an Osprey pack. Dont even waste your time or money on any other pack.Exact pack I've been searching for at a great price. Osprey is my go to for packs because of their high quality and attention to details.I purchased this pack to do a treck in Europe. I am very happy with. Good qualities and great features. Winnie the Pooh Small Backpack - Winnie the Pooh Small School Bag (Blue)
Amazon customer service has been as helpful as possible. However, the first time it happened they told me there would be a bin check and I could reorder in a few days. Apparently it doesn't happen quite that fast.My son loves this back pack. My only complaint is that the water bottle mesh pocket is too small most of his water cups. Overall perfect size for a toddler.

The North Face Heckler Daypack - Men's
I bought the backpack in December of 2009 and since then it has experienced 6 semesters of college, 2 1/2 months of working at a summer camp, and a two week trip in China. After all that it's still in near perfect condition, the only sign of wear appears to be a water retardant clear-coat that lines the inside of the bag.
What this bag offers you is durability, capacity, versatility, and organization.
DURABILITY: After everything I've put it though it's lasted me this long and appears to have many years ahead of it.
CAPACITY: The main compartment is enormous. During the trip to china I used it as my carry-on. It held my toiletries, a change of clothes as well as a rain jacket, 32 oz. water bottle, and two books with a notebook. Inside of the main compartment there is a laptop sleeve with a velcro strap, as well as two 3x7 pockets attacked to the front wall. In the smaller pocket there is a pocket that can hold multiple books (depending on the size, I put a Bible and notebook in mine), as well as two more smaller pockets that could easily fit a cell phone. There are three pencil holders. And then of course you have the main pocket that you could stuff anything into. There is one more zip pocket above the one just discussed for an MP3 player with a hole for a headphone cord. I usually store my IPhone in this pocket during class for quick availability. On the side of the bag you have two adjustable straps with a buckle function designed to compress or expand the pack as you see fit. Under them there is a bungee equipped water bottle holder, again, I use a 32 oz. water bottle, so it's pretty big. On the front of the pack there are multiple loops made of a durable material that you can easily clip a carabiner to or tie a rope to attach something too big for the adjustable bungee. I have fit a pair of tennis shoes in the bungee, for a capacity reference. On the bottom of the pack there are two adjustable straps that can be used for whatever purpose you see fit. I can see them being used to carry around a compressed sleeping bag, I've used mine to carry around a towel on occasion. The straps of the pack offer two buckles that can offer support when you clip them around your torso, as well as two D-rings and one small pocket that can hold a small cell phone or in my case, a pocket-knive/multi-tool.
**a side note about the capacity. I worked a second summer at the camp after my first with the Heckler and received as a gift a Columbia Half Track. They asked that we use the packs during school for advertisement but I just couldn't do it! the pack was so small compared to my heckler I had to switch back.
VERSATILITY: I have used this pack in many contexts and it fits them all. If your outdoors hiking and need a hefty day-pack or if your in school and have to carry around a lot of books.
ORGANIZATION: being organized is a major thing for me. Not only do I want to be able to carry a lot, I want to know where to find it within 10 seconds of looking. With all the various sized pockets available on the pack, that is 100% possible.
The only thing left to be spoken of is the price. I'll be honest, I'm usually cheap but I am willing to spend big money on things that I know are going to be quality and that I'm going to use a lot. I have never had an unhappy moment with my Heckler, never been frustrated that I can't fit something or attach a thing. And no unhappy moments with my Heckler is worth the $80 bucks I paid for it. And like I said, I will be buying a new one when this one wears out (if it does). This backpack is great if you are a college student like myself. It is very durable. It is great if you want to use it for backpacking because you can extend it to fit in anything from a paper and pencil to loads of textbooks and clothes. It looks great, feels great when you wear it, and it even has a big pocket inside where you can fit a medium size laptop (with plenty of space left over for books) and take it on the go.
I had it for about eight months so far and I could not be more happier with it.

only buy this if you're tall. for a small girl, this backpack looks ridiculous on my back. i like that there are compartments and a laptop holder, but it's too big for me. recommended for those who need to hold a lot of stuff and who want a very large and long backpackRead Best Reviews of The North Face Heckler Daypack - Men's Here
We looked at a number of backpacks before purchasing this North Face Heckler. The quality is amazing and the variety of colors made chosing somewhat difficult. The size is perfect for my son's needs. He especially likes the color (chili pepper red/asphalt gray) and the number of compartments. Great value and price.Husband had a north face pack older then me and I got him this updated one for his birthday. He loves it...enjoys the laptop section, numerous pockets, the color, and durabilitySunday, June 1, 2014
Fi Hi Voltron Stereo Backpack
thanks amazon,
not This was a gift for someone. I did take a look at it before I bought it and found it to be a very decent product. I also tested it to hear the sound quality of the speakers. It took me several minuted to figure out how to hook it up but once you know it should be easy. One thing I don't like is that you cannot control the volume remotely, you have to reach into the pocket where the music player is in to adjust the volume which can be an annoyance. Unfortuantely the bass doesn't go very high because there is no subwoofer, but i understand that would add extra weight and use space.

Max output when playing from an Ipod. your volume will be a little bit past the pause button.this isn't the speaker's fault this is due to the amplifier inside for that speaker's.
don't buy this bag if u plan on playing music in the hallways or playing music at the park the amp will distort your music if u plan on playing music at full blast.
the bag itself is well made i am very surprised by it. my friend has always owned a northface back pack and he enjoyed the feel of this bag and it's comforts. I recommended the bag to him but not for the speakers. i am currently building a better amp for it and will post an update later about the speakers.
Speakers are treble not bassy. not for audiophiles like myself.I got this for my 18 yr son's birthday and he loves it. He wanted to go to school and use it on his last day of high school.

Travelon Backpack
I used the pack every day to hold a thick file of paperwork, plus some extras like a jacket, a few diapers, wipes, tissues & a water bottle.
Topeak Air BackPack
My only gripe about this backpack and it may just be my stupidty, but I thought the pack came with a reservoir and tool holder that straps inside the pack. It did not come with either of these which was disappointing. So you need to spend $100 on the bag plus additional money on accesories to go with the bag.
The bag is well constructed and I am happy with it. But if I had to do it again I may have searched out other products.

I am writing this review after purchasing this bag, inspecting it, and the deciding to return it, unused. I cannot attest to actual, tested durability or use. That said, here are my thoughts:What I like:
This is definitely a bomber bag. The materials and stitching are top-notch, and I have no doubt that it is very weather and wear resistant. It is certainly large, and would be a great bag for ski gear because of the extra beefy floor and boxy construction. I like how the top opens wide for easy access. The lighter colored interior makes it easier to find items than bags with a black interior.
I like the the small exterior pockets.
Why I sent it back:
It seems too heavy. Definitely burly, but I feel like it's probably overbuilt. Due to the bulky material, it will not compress well for use as a carry on if desired.
The handles on the ends have aluminum tubing over the webbing. I have no idea why they did this. Probably to help grip the webbing without it digging into hands when the bag is loaded to the gills. Unfortunately, it makes it difficult to clip a carabiner to the handle. Also, it will likely scratch paint on cars, rattle against windows, and I honestly cannot find a practical reason for this feature.
The cord used for zipper pulls also have aluminum tubing over them. The tubing is almost the diameter of the knot, which I think will make the pull hard to grip unless completely dry. I also think it looks cheesy and I don't like the way it feels eitherI do not like the tubing! Additionally, by using only cord for the zipper pulls, it prevents you from putting a lock on the zipper. I know that a zipper pull lock is still not very secure, but I believe it is better than nothing, and definitely better than cord. I much prefer cord in addition to a tab on the pulls.
The daisy chains are not as useful as those on competitors' bags. They lie very flat, and placed only near the ends, not continuously along he sides like I prefer.
The handles seem pretty good, but the padding seems inadequate to use the bag backpack style. The handle adjustment tabs seem clunky too.
All in all, it is probably a great bag for the back of a truck, or short ski vacations where you won't be lugging bags very farlike from baggage claim to a car, to a hotel. I typically carry my bags a lotand stack and strap and squish and throw them tooand I feel like there are better choices for my style of travel. Your mileage may vary.

Military Inspired Stylish Durable Canvas Messenger Bag Unisex Shoulder Bag GREY BLACK
This is the worst (no hyperbole) canvas bag I have ever had the displeasure of purchasing. The material is very thin, the canvas is extremely cheap, the black canvas is already covered in lint and about a thousand other particles. It stinks like petroleum or cheap pleather. The stitching is crooked and the lining is not even cut and sewn on correctly. I wouldn't trust the bag to hold the few literates books I need for school, which means it fails even in it's own function as a messenger. It's way smaller than you would expect from the dimensions and it's just awful overall. I'm going to eat the cost, throw it in the garbage and consider it a lesson learned but first I will take pictures to post so this storefront can be avoided altogether.
Also the first reviewer is right the fourth picture is absolutely not the bag you receive. False advertising all around.I ordered this bag to get out of a hobo style bag that I was using. I love the pockets on it and the amount of stuff that I can put in the bag. It helps me organize what I need for my daily commute and I even used the bag for a recent trip to Rochester NY. I am even thinking of getting more than one of these.

This was a great purchase, and at a great price!! I like that it is free of any "designer labels" and somewhat vintage-y. I love the strong canvas and the multitude of pockets with buckles. Plenty of room for keys, cell phone, sunglasses, calculator, wallet, stapler, etc., and of course, lipstick! I am in nursing school and sometimes have overloaded the bag with really heavy textbooks...not a good idea. A couple of the seams are coming apart, but I will sew them up with super strong thread. The adjustable shoulder strap is absolutely imperative for a bag of this style. I can adjust it to the right length for me. Wearing it across my chest allows me to have free hands for carrying my coffee and water bottle! If you're looking for something flashy or trendy, this is not the bag for you. If you want quality and subtle "coolness", this is it!!! Btw, the color in the descriptor says "grey black", but I have to say it is more of an olive green/brown.This bag is what I use to commute with, it holds everything and then some. It has surrived being thrown on the floor of a train, to being packed with about 20 lbs of stuff. It fits legal sized items, and it looks good.Want Military Inspired Stylish Durable Canvas Messenger Bag Unisex Shoulder Bag GREY BLACK Discount?

DAKINE Men's Recon Surf Pack
-I wanted a backpack that would look equally as good around my college campus as it would on the trails, and this delivers. It caught my eye immediately this color is cool-looking and unique, but still rugged and masculine, and the pack as a whole is a very understated, functional design.
-I am pleased with the quality so far. I have no patience whatsoever for shoddy build quality in things I buy, but this feels solid and well-constructed. Time and use are the real tests of quality of course, but initially this pack seems like it will last a long time.
-The pockets are pretty well designed, but I would have really appreciated a zippered pouch inside the main panel for change, keys and the like. I was really surprised they didn't incorporate that. The bottom pouch is insulated for cold drinks and the like.
-This is not a small backpack with 1900ci of room I think its one of the bigger packs they make. I hate bulky or baggy backpacks, but this isn't one of them. It has a ton of room, but with a light load it stays low-profile and keeps its shape. You get all the volume without looking like a dork.
HIGHLY recommended, especially for bigger people (I'm 6'2, 200 and it looks 'just right' on me.) Already planning to buy another Dakine model!

Bag is of very good quality. Fits well, looks good and hardly any strain on your shoulders. Awesome for college.Want DAKINE Men's Recon Surf Pack Discount?
This is the best backpack I've ever had. I have a total of 4 Dakine backpacks!I have the Dakine Mission, Recon, LG Campus, and Interval. The recon is such
a versatile bag. I use it for school and running errands! I love using it for school because
it's easy to stay organized with the organizer pocket.
the insulated cooler pocket comes in handy wherever I am. I stash in fruit and is still cold 4 hours
later. It's awesome! I eat 5 times a day to stay healthy and the cooler pocket
allows me to keep my weight in check!
-The fleece lined pocket is great. My glasses are always shiny and scratch-free
-there is a waterproof section to hold a swim suit or wet suit! Great for a trip to the beach
-there is an open pouch that is closed by a magnetic blocks in the bag. It's
very convenient when you pay for something and feel like stashing your change & receipts in the bag
-The bag has a lot of space for books as well.
MY FAVORITE PART OF THIS BAG is the secret pocket on the very bottom left of the backpack. I put
my wallet in there. Whenever I go to starbucks and pay for my Frappe I just unzip it and take out
my wallet w/o taking off my backpack! It's so convenient.
I recommend this if you like a light, durable, stylish, and dependable.
*oh and all Dakine backpacks look skinny even though you might put a bunch of stuff in it. It wont make you
look like a turtle :)

Kipling Hiker Expandable Backpack
We like to take cruises on occasion, and she finds this to be just the right thing for carry-on aboard the ship. And with the bag's expansion feature, we can stuff it full of the souvenirs we seem to collect on the cruise.
Buy Kipling Hiker Expandable Backpack Now
I have a couple of Kipling bags and I like them a lot, specially for traveling, so this backpack was a disappointment for me. It does not fit straight on by back unless it is completely full. When half-full it folds on my back (the bottom comes upwards) and it is uncomfortable to carry along. The first (biggest) pocket is fine to access with two zippers but the other two medium+smaller pockets in the front have a single zipper each that opens all the way from bottom to bottom so you must be careful not to drop things out of your bag when opening them. This my first backpack from Kipling and I don't know why I waited so long to buy one. It's so light even when it's full. I carry my Canon 50D where ever I go and the padding inside keeps it safe.We used this on our tour through south island of NZ. We only expanded it once to the larger size. The front pockets were good to keep room keys and camera separate from the main bodyWednesday, August 28, 2013
