Bag came quicker than expected, the name was spelled correctly, and the bag looks good. The bag is a burlap style material and is very stiff and rigid. The first time I pulled the straps to close it, the seams tore on both sides. The seller immediately shipped me a new bag to replace the defective one without me even having to ask. This bag is awesome! I bought it specifically for a trip to Europe. The bag was big enough to carry a map, brochures, a point & shoot digital camera, change purse, cell phone, and small bag of essentials (chapstick, hand cream, Advil, band-aids) with room to spare, while still being small enough to carry around all day (12+ hrs) without being uncomfortable. The two side pouches were very useful for carrying two bottles of water (note: they will really only hold the 0.5 L (16.9 oz water bottles). It would be quite a stretch to fit a 20 oz bottle in the pouch). The pouches have elastic at the top so the bottles stay securely put, and I like that the pouches snap closed when not in use. I used the bag for one week of walking around/hiking and the other on the back of a motorcycle touring the Alps. It worked great even on the motorcycle. The adjustable strap could be lengthened so it could be used as a cross-body bag and it was small enough to fit comfortably hanging by my hip or resting on my leg pressed up against my body. One thing to note. The bag is not waterproof. I don't think it ever claimed to be, but I thought I should mention it. It will protect electronics from a sprinkle or brief shower, but we hit a few places where we had steady rain for a couple hours and the bag got wet all the way through. A few ziplock bags for valuables is sufficient to prevent damage and the purse dried in one night after removing the contents and allowing it to lay open overnight.

So, far I really like the purse. It does fit my IPad and that is important to me. Could have a few more individual pockets but all my other purse contents fit in it. Really have peace of mind as I have had my pocket picked in the past. I feel that my valuables will be safe with this purse

I recently used this bag for an eight day trip to D.C. It was perfect, size, weight, everything! I could adjust the comfortable strap to be worn cross body or shorten up to use as a regular handbag. It has a clip on one end to attach and lock to the back of my chair in a cafe or restaurant. I had enough room to carry my credit cards/ID, digital camera, small brush, small bottle of ibuprofen, lip balm, small bottle of contact solution, several pens, my Ipad, cell phone and a full sized bottle of water in one of the outer side pockets. (Plus an emergency granola bar) It was never too heavy or bulky when walking or sightseeing. The strap was long enough to fit around my rather plump self and still lay flat against my hip, front or side and was easy to funtion hands free. I also appreciated all the security features. I knew my credit/debit cards were safe and the cables in the strap would prevent any cutting attempts. You might think you don't need to take these extra precautions, as I did. However, one evening, on this same trip to D.C., on the Metro returning from a Nationals baseball game, someone's purse strap was cut and stolen in the crowd of thousands of travelers and it was not a pretty sight! I truly liked this bag and wholeheartedly recommend it for travel and everyday use. It's very well designed.

After reading many horror stories about pickpocketing in Europe (we were going to Italy this summer), I decided to take extra precautions. I looked at a number of security bags but decided on PacSafe MetroSafe because I liked the size, shape, and security features. I liked black because it felt less noticeable and promoted a non-gender specific look. My husband, who will not touch my purse with a ten foot pole, carried this thing like a messenger bag all over Italy. He was a bit apprehensive until I told him it basically looks like a large camera bag (it's true) and that was it! We were able to carry a small umbrella and water bottle in each of the two exterior side pockets. I had our thick travel book, phrase book, a shawl, small money purse, passports, lip balm, hand sanitizer, city maps, sunglasses, keys, fruit and small snacks. We weren't carrying a back pack and never had a need for more space (I had a tiny compact ChicoBag just in case). They do make a larger Metrosafe but this was good enough for us. As far as the security, top notch! I saw a man/woman team look at each other and the woman nodded "no" to the man. Not sure if it was the bag or my vigilance, either way, they weren't going to get into Fort Knox. If you're careful in how you wear the bag, use the security features (I didn't think they were obnoxious isn't piece of mind the point?) and don't put it down for someone to grab and run off with (trains are notorious), you won't be sorry! We plan to use this again and again.

Final note, which I think someone else may have mentioned in another review, beware of the strap that goes across your body. I was wearing a backpack so while I'm not sure if it was the bag or the backpack, it may cause certain shirt materials to peel. To be on the safe side, I will most likely line the back of the strap with fabric at some point to rule it out. I still give it a 5-star though!

I received the Pacsafe Luggage Venturesafe 32l Travel Backpack from ebags (more on that later) and I am very impressed with the bag.

The bag looks like a conventional backpack until you start looking closer.

The Backpack has security features everywhere, such as zippers that clip to a fixed point on the bag (to prevent pick pockets) and straps that have steel wires thru them so they can't be slashed and there are clips that have locks on them on the straps that can be secured to a table etc.

Additionally the bag has a type of steel mesh running thru the skin of the bag which will prevent someone slashing your bag and spilling the contents.

All of this steel adds very little weight but a TREMENDOUS amount of security!

As for ebags, the Amazon seller I got the bag from, let me just says this, skip them!

I payed for expedited shipping (32.90) and they did not provide a tracking number (despite an email asking for it) and there customer service is terrible!

Do your self a favor and buy from someone else, it will be cheaper, and you will get better customer service.

I just returned from a month of constant travel in Europe. I put this pack to the test and I am very pleased to say it held up beautifully! It still looks brand new. Not a single zipper, clip, strap, malfunction. The safety features gave me a much higher level of confidence as far as vandalism. The one feature I used often was the one shoulder strap has a special clip that can be un clipped to wrap the strap around anything solid. once you recouple it anyone trying to swipe your bag would have quite some time involved in figuring out the trick to the clip. That gave me allot more freedom to move around on boat decks , trains etc, with out constantly worrying about my pack or carry it every time I needed to move around the area or use the toilet, so on. As long as I kept it in sight or just left it monetarily I new no one could just grab it and run. The pack's hidden zipper tabs that attache to a hidden clip are real handy too. I always kept them clipped up. I was impressed that an airport baggage checker that wanted to open my bag was baffled by it. I had to open it. He laughed and said he had never seen a pack like mine before. I also figured out that small pad locks can also be used to secure the zipper tap to the ring the clip is attached to. The same goes for the tricky shoulder strap clip. You could pad lock that too. Being able to add my own pad locks gave me even more sense of security when I flew it home full of souvenirs. I carried about 50 to 65 pounds in it. I had plenty of room. 3 pairs of paints, 5 pair of socks and shorts, 6 shirts, jacket, toilet bag, books. Every thing I needed, even the souvenirs. This pack is all reinforced with wire, as they said, shoulder straps the cloth. I could see it when it went through the airports security x ray.The waist strap was very comfortable too.

We bought this for a trip to Europe. The thought was that this could carry around most of the things that we'd use during the course of the day trips on our cruise. I must say first that it is a huge backpack and frankly more than we ended up needing on most days.

It comfortably fit a laptop, an Ipad, drinks, travel books...a Terrible Towel and other various and sundry items. It worked well, the clasps are well designed to prevent thieves from accessing the various pockets. Lots of great spots within the backpack for keys, coins etc. It held up well and feels very solid.

We didn't have anything go missing of course but I feel that this backpack would have helped to deter a would be pickpocket.

The backpack which my son took to Germany where he will be living for a year is working as advertised according to my son. He is totally satisfied. The peace of mind it has brought him makes it well worth the purchase price. Just one less thing to worry about.

As an aside, he was on a train when he saw a person in a group open and take a wallet from another traveller's backpack while another person in the group distracted the traveller. Fortunately others saw this and brought attention to the situation and the wallet was dropped and recovered, but the people in the group were never caught and just disappeared into the crowd.

It was part of our belief that with the safety features of the backpack it just makes a person less attractive as a "victim" which in and of itself will deter people from even trying.

This is a good backpack. It is very sturdy. I got it for my high school son because he ripped through his first backpack for the year in less than a week. We paid about the same for that backpack as we did for this JanSport backpack. He has had it now for a couple of months and his holding together just fine. When he first got the backpack he said the shoulder pads were very hard but now he says they don't bother him anymore. Maybe he has broken them in or just gotten use to them. If you are looking for a good and roomy no frills backpack for school, this one has worked out great for my son. I had a JanSport years ago when I was in college and I remember it being a good choice back then too. This Big Student Backpack is a great choice for the money.

I have ridiculously large books and a half hour walk to and from the train station each day. Unlike every other backpack I've tried, the straps of this one have yet to start ripping or fraying apart from the bag. The only feature I miss is a buckle connecting the two straps across the front of the chest, so they don't pull apart at the shoulders. However, the bag is heavy-duty and roomy, and I'm easily able to fit my laptop, Con Law book (maybe the largest book ever made), Crim Law book (2nd largest ever), and pocket dictionary. Overall, if you can get as good a price as I paid for it, I would recommend it to any student or other user...

I recently received my backpack and used it this week while commuting back and forth to work. I was very pleased and impressed with the size, number of compartments it has, and the way it holds the weight of all my personal belongings--I was surpised that there was enough room for my big purse. I carry my coffee, 36 oz bottled water, purse, iphone and its acessories, ipad and its accessories, lunch(small or big), paperwork, and umbrella in the backpack and I still have some extra space left. I take the bus to work five days a week and I used to carry my purse and a big nylon bag (and sometimes 2 bags, depending on the size of my lunch and amount of paperwork) and had problems trying to manage all the stuff I carried on the bus (with limited space) and thought about getting a backpack since I saw some people with them. I didn't know which ones were good/bad so I read reviews on this one and others. Since this backpack had many good reviews, I was encouraged to get this one and I'm glad I did. Now, I'm able to carry "one" bag, not 2 or 3, and my new backpack doesn't feel as heavy as the multiple bags I was carrying even though I'm carrying the same things. I feel more comfortable with it on my lap. I really appreciate the people who took the time to give their reviews on their backpacks before I decided to purchase mine. The "overall" rating on this item has lead me to making the right choice.

Well... this thing is really big. It has a lot of space... several pockets and the most important thing for me is that it is tough... holds heavy stuff, I can fill it with a travel pack for a weekend... First thoughts on the 30L bag: very well made, nicely stitched, seems very sturdy, no funny chemical smells, and has a 100% water proof exterior (I soaked the bag in water to check if there was any leakage/water coming inside... No water leakage). Take in mind that you are rolling up the top and attaching the ends together with a clip/buckle and not some type of Ziploc system. If you do not make a good seal on this portion, your items inside will eventually get wet. Realistically though, I'm sure you're not taking this thing underwater diving, so for heavy rain, dropping the bag into water, or laying the bag down on some snow; your items will remain dry. For more room and less of a seal, roll the top a couple times, for less room, but more water protection, roll the top more times. 5 stars and exactly what I needed.

Sturdy, spacious, easy to carry, kept everything dry. Used it for towels,cell phones, clothing, shoes for a trip in Puerto Rico! Great buy!!!

I bought this pack to use daily, It is a little soft for my use, I expected something a little stiffer. It is made well but the zippers are a lightweight plastic and I hope they hold out. The pouches work well for my use and there is plenty of room in the pack. It has two seperate compartments for large stuff and a pouch in the front section for a wallet or cell phone. It also has a pouch in the flap which works well for small items or wallet or cell.

Overall it is a good pack but I don't recommend this for kids. The zippers will not last and it is not designed for kids. Only for older teens or adults who will take care if it and not abuse it. I will get some good use out of it.

This bag when I received it was made well. Stitching is all complete (no loose threads hanging anywhere I could find) and there are plenty of compartments for all your gear. While I haven't stuffed it to the brim and taken it through a torrential downpour it has fit my needs for what I have used it for. I plan to spray it with some CampDry so it is more water resistant but other than that I am very pleased with this purchase.

About 4 months into owning this with light use (laptop and notebook at most) 3-4 days a week the shoulder straps pulled away from the material. The blue material of the bag itself seems to be the cause as the shoulder bags/messenger bags of the same material have had the same problem for me. The seams fray and pull apart. Such a shame but I LOVE the design of these products. Would just like to see them made more durable.

I absolutely love this back pack and it was absolutely my favorite until it broke this morning. The right strap just snapped (and I literally mean SNAPPED) right off at the bottom of the backpack, leaving a tremendous hole. Not only did it ruin the rest of my day, but I'm so sad now. This bag is too small to use for a backpack for school, a folder is too big for it. My toddler wanted a backpack and this backpack was perfect because it was classic (we do not like to buy things with Dora, Disney, Elmo, etc) and a perfect size for her to carry around. It could be used by someone older to carry around (the straps are adjustable) but don't expect to carry binders, folders or textbooks in it. It is stylish as well that will take her through years, I have a Jansport that I have had for 10 years or more, lasted all the way through college. I hated that they didn't have a solid pink or more solid colors available.
