I didn't have any of the problems of the previous reviewer. My seven year old has been beating the heck out of his pack for months now and it's still cute as ever.

I order a Beatrix backpack every fall for my six-year-old, but this is the last one I'll ever order. It completely fell apart after four months of probably less than normal wear and tear. The seam near the zipper ripped open, and I cannot sew it as it is so close to the zipper. They are the cutest backpacks on the market, but cheaply made. For $52, you expect more!

First, I would say that this back pack is very high quality. There is a great deal of room as well. There are zippered pockets and pouches. It is a very good design and I would highly recommend it. This is perfect for the survivalist!

The first time I tried to unzip the backpack from the fanny pack the zipper broke off in my hand. Then I tried to unzip it manually and the zipper bracket broke in two. I called Apex and told them what happened. They told me they would send me a replacement when I asked for my money back. The guy from there customer service said watch your e-mail for the shipping confirmation. That was two weeks + ago.... No email. I will never order another thing from this company and I suggest you avoid them as well.

JanSport Sliver Shoulder Pack

Wow! My 10 year old son begged for a sling backpack for the new school year. After looking at all the packs available on Amazon, I finally settled on this one. I was worried this would be huge, and more backpack then what he needed. But, the other options were either cheap quality, too small, or a tear shaped that I was worried wouldn't fit his binders.

A little hesitant that this might be too big for him, and there were no reviews, I ordered it anyway. My heart sank when I opened the box, though. The backpack that looked too big, now in person, looked way too narrow. But, my son was so excited to try it out.

I opened up the pockets, and was relieved. It is deceivingly larger than what it looks like. It easily fit his two 1" binders and some folders in the main compartment, and a lightweight sweatshirt in the secondary compartment. The strap is very comfortable and distributes the weight over his back very well. I love how much the strap adjusts. It fits me comfortably and doesn't feel disproportional, and adjusts down perfectly to his needs and still looks great on his back.

I doubt there will be any issues with this, and even if there is, JanSport offers a lifetime warranty on their items. I will update in a few months, but so far I think I hit the jackpot with this one :)

This has all the pockets I need and I especially love that the tablet pocket is not directly connected to the laptop pocket so there is less chance of them jolting against each other in a rough situation. I also love how padded the laptop zip up pocket is. LittleLife Adventurer Daysack

We had the toddler version of this backpack from Littlelife. It was super-good quality and I assumed that this one would be too. However, the material on this pack is some thin, stiff, cheap material, not like in the toddler version we received 3-4 years ago. The zipper is good, though.

This backpack fits my 5 year old perfectly but she's not using it for school (she's homeschooled). If you want a school backpack this would be too small. Also, the drink holder is too small for a normal sized kid water bottle. Maybe I would give it 2.5 stars?

Incase Nylon Backpack, Black (CL55301)

First of all, I purchased the stone gray colored bag. It should be noted that the color is not actually grey, but an odd green color. Keep this in mind as you choose a color.

Second, after four months of regular use this backpack was packed back up and shipped back to the manufacturer (at my own expense). The right strap pulled right out of the stitching. I am hoping Incase can solve this issue, and that the pack I received was a fluke.

Third, this newer redesign of the Incase backpack seems to be a step down in terms of craftsmanship. The straps don't have the same level of comfort and the pack itself doesn't hold its shape as well.

I bought this bag to replace a previous Incase bag that I had for a few years and used heavily. I really liked my old one so sought out the same brand. The design changed a bit from the old one: A few less zippers. BUT, the big problem is that is simply feels cheaper. Lighter fabric, thinner padding, cheaper zipper pulls. This is not a cheap bag, but it feels cheap!! I feel guilty about returning it since i have used it for 2 weeks, but I for sure will not buy this brand again. Premium price but not premium product.

Purchased backpack from J&R middle of May for college. It has great looks, surprising capacity (due to its height), and an undeniable high quality feel.

I would suggest this backpack to everyone except for the fact that one of my shoulder straps has begun to disconnect from the base of the bag after only two months of use. The stitching has popped out and the interior foam is visible. The strap is still connected, but barely. The shoulder area of the strap is still intact. It won't be long until the base disconnects and the strap becomes non-functional, however.

I am looking to get a replacement bag from either J&R or Incase!

I brought this item to replace a previous backpack, and it was great at first, then within merely 2 months, the Right strap pulled right out of the stitching, and I can see the careless stitching, and the cheap materials used inside.

I have owned several Incase products in the past several years ranging from laptop sleeves to iPhone cases and even a DSLR Camera bag so when it came time for a new backpack I decided to give this one a try.

Admittedly, I am pretty hard on packs. I carry it every day and usually have it loaded down with things I use day to day at work (office environment). I feel that this pack is poorly constructed with sub-par materials.

The front pouch zipper pull came off during the first week of use. The faux fur interior attracts and holds dust and dirt. Every single time I put the pack on, the left shoulder strap pulls almost all the way out forcing you to readjust the length setting (seriously.. every time. So annoying).

I appreciated the placement of and number of pouches and pockets, especially the soft-lined stash pocket at the top. Incase suggests using this for your phone, but I found that it works best for sunglasses. I did find myself missing the typical pouches on the side to hold a bottle.

I ended up throwing this one in the top of my closet and buying the Patagonia Fuego Backpack. It has almost identical pouch configuration but with a far superior build quality plus it has somewhere to put bottles on the sides!

Like the idea of the padded sleeve, but it's just horribly wrong for my Lenovo X200. The ratio is not for widescreen and I can barely zip it up. If you have 9-cell battery, going to the 13-inch version could work.

Belkin Wilshire Collection, Slim Ultra Durable Case, Fits up to 15.6-Inch Laptops (BLACK)

I ordered the Belkin Slim Ultra Durable Case because I was looking for an attractive no-frills bag. When I opened the shipping box, I knew I had made the right decision.

The main compartment is just large enough to hold a 15.6" HP dv6t laptop with a standard battery. It's cushioned fairly well on the sides and bottom. The interior lining is a standard fabric and won't scratch the currently prevalent glossy plastic finishes on laptops. The zipper opens and closes smoothly and the teeth have sufficient clearance so I don't worry about it scratching the laptop during use. The zipper pulls, made of brass, also have lock holes so you can secure it with a luggage lock.

There is only a single pocket on this case but it encompasses the entire front of the case. The zipper is about 1/4 of the way down. The zipper teeth are hidden for a more attractive appearance and glide smoothly as well. This pocket is definitely large enough to hold papers, legal pads, file folders, etc. I use it to hold my AC adapter and a notebook mouse.

The clips on the shoulder strap are very nice and swivel in all directions but the pad could use more cushioning. Most 15.6" laptops weigh anywhere from 6-9 pounds so more padding would've really helped with comfort. On the other hand, there are two comfortable handles for easy carrying when your shoulders get sore. Lastly, Belkin's website states the bag has a lifetime warranty but the tags on the bag all say 1 year. I printed a copy of the website just in case.

The Belkin Slim Ultra Durable Case is the perfect slim business laptop case. It has a classy and professional appearance and has just enough utility for the minimalist. Road warriors would be wise to stay far far away because the case only has a single large pocket and isn't as comfortable as you'd like. But for those of us who want a simple and attractive bag, this one is just right.

So many laptop bags are bulky with extra pockets that I never use. Outside of buying a sleave, this is the thinnest that I have found. Perfect for my Thinkpad T-500, with a little extra room to spare. Great for travel. There are better alternatives, but all of them are priced over $100.

This case is of very high quality. There is padding around the entire bag. Total, there is about one inch of padding on each side of where the notebook is stored.

The clips that allow the bag to be hung around the shoulder are metal so they will not break off in the future after long use. Although metal clips sound like a small detail, they are really very important: in the past, my notebook case had a plastic clip that broke off as I was swinging the case over my shoulders; don't let this happen to you. All the zippers on the case are made of metal as well. If the metal clips or the zippers break, the case is backed by a lifetime warranty. Thank you Targus!

The pocket that holds the notebook is very well padded. I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 with a 14.1 inch screen that fits very nicely. The case can probably hold notebooks up to 15 inches with no problems. The pocket that holds the notebook also has a small Velcro strip that goes across the notebook after it is put in. The zipper on the notebook pocket has two holes that a lock can go through.

There are 4 separate zippered compartments total. One is designed to hold papers and folders but is not large enough for a binder. One holds the notebook. The other two pockets can hold cables, a mouse, and other miscellaneous objects. I always carry my notebook, a mouse, a mouse pad, an Ethernet cable, iPod, iPod charger, iPod cable, notebook power adapter, and a USB flash drive and I still have space for more.

The price that Amazon has is a steal. Other cases of this quality will easily run $50 or more.

PS. The bag is not waterproof for those who want to know.

I have had this carrying case for about 2 months now and it has been great for me. I like the top zip for the computer, because then i don't feel like it will fall out like with some that zip all the way around. It has plenty of pockets and places for gagets and papers and things. My charger is able to fit in the case as well when i have my computer in it. The adjustable shoulder strap makes it easy for me when i'm carrying alot of other items when traveling, but the 2 hand-held handles work nicely when moving the case around too.

I bought this backpack to take with me on my vacation. The straps are wide and padded well so heavy loads in the bag won't cause the straps to dig into your shoulders. The little soft pouch on top is good for quickly storing your sunglasses or cell phone, especially when going through airport security. The insulated pouch is a nice idea but doesn't really have enough volume to hold a water bottle larger than say 12oz. What I did find it useful for was keeping important items dry when the rain started pouring. The laptop pouch is padded on the bottom which is good for keeping your laptop/tablet safe from dings. The only real complaint I had was that the front pouch is just a little tight (i.e. doesn't open very far). But that was a minor issue. All in all a nice looking, versatile, and well built bag.

I ride a bike. I have an older back pack that is HUGE but heavy. I measured my old back pack to make sure I got a similar size. Once I got this back pack, I quickly realized that this thing holds EVERYTHING so well. And... it is so light. It is rugged enough for the abuse I give it, and I've had it 30 days so far and I am really amazed at how functional it is. Well made too.

OGIO Locker Bag

I've had this bag for a couple months now, and use it several times a week at the gym. On the whole I think it's a very good bag that delivers what it promises. The positives:

--Slim enough to fit easily in the lockers at 3 different locations I go to, which have pretty standard-sized half-length lockers.

--The interior and most compartments are easily accessible when in the locker, which frees up space on the bench in front of the locker. For me that alone makes the bag worth it because now I don't have to jockey for space to sit or for my stuff when the locker room gets crowded.

--Interior volume is spacious--I can fit my workout shoes, hand towel, shower towel, shorts, shirt, socks, and underwear and still have room left.

--Shoe "compartment" works well; even large shoes easily fit due to the extra pop-out section in the back of the bag.

--The "door" has enough pouches to hold deodorant, shampoo & soap containers, and a couple other items.

--Construction is solid, yet surprisingly light, with lots of venting to help dry out sweaty clothes and keep down odors.

OK, but there are a few negatives, which IMHO could be solved with a few design tweaks:

--Because it is so lightweight the bag easily tips over. Not a problem when it's in the locker, but if you set it on the bench or floor you've got to be careful. This is especially true when the door swings open--it acts to pull the bag over, especially if it's weighted by bottles of shampoo, deodorant, etc.

--The door has a single zipper, which opens from top to bottom along the side of the door. To open the door you have to completely unzip it (over the top, down the side, and under the door). This is my biggest complaint about the bag--it is a hassle to run the zipper along the underside of the door if the bag is in your locker or on the floor. You have to lift up the bag to accomplish the final stretch under the door, which often causes the bag to tip over (see point above). If you set the bag slightly out of the locker to more easily unzip the door, then it tends to tip forward out of the locker as the door opens, due to the lightweight design, potentially spilling your stuff.

--The "wet" compartment at the back of the bag is nice, but my old duffel-style Oggio bag had two wet compartments; one I used for dirty clothes, and the other for my shower sandals. The wet compartment on this bag isn't large enough to fit my shower sandals, nor will they fit in the shoe area along with my workout shoes. So I put the shower sandals in the large "magazine" pouch on the side of the bag--which works well unless you want to actually use it for magazines, etc. Fortunately for me my Kindle fits perfectly in the compartment on the front of the door.

--Because the bag is taller than typical duffels it leaves less room to hang your street/work clothes in the locker, as they'll drape over the bag, especially if you want to hang both a shirt and slacks. (This is of course only an issue with typical half-length lockers. If your gym has full-length lockers you're golden).

The first two issues above could be solved by adding weights to the bottom of the bag (I may try this myself), and by adding a second zipper to the door, so you could leave just the underside unzipped if you prefer. If they made those changes this bag would be nearly perfect. As it is I still think the pros far outweigh the cons, and the bag delivers where it needs to: it keeps my stuff organized & accessible, and makes changing & cleaning up after a workout a bit easier and more efficient.

This bag is simply amazing! I go to the gym 4 times per week and often go directly from work so I needed a bag that would hold everything I needed to workout and clean-up afterwards. The Ogio Locker Bag does it all: it's got a special compartment for my gym shoes and a shelf to separate them from my towel and workout gear. It fits perfectly in just about any gym's locker (I go to Bally's) and with its front-opening door, you can access everything you need while your bag is IN the locker! I love the fact that it comes with containers for my toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap) and also with a comb, brush, and mirror. To top it off, it's light-weight, sturdy, and even comes with a built-in vent so that your wet/sweaty clothes don't get too ripe! LOL! : ) I couldn't be happier with my purchase! GET THIS BAG!! You won't be disappointed!

This bag is very well designed it is perfect for the gym locker, with handy compartments and the ventilated top. However, my huge running shoes barely fit in the shoe area (women's size 12.5, men's size 10.5)

The only other negative is the frame of my bag warped when left in my hot car all day. I decided to go ahead and replace it for the winter because it is that great a bag, but need to come up with a solution for next summer.

I have wanted an OGIO brand locker bag for a long time. They look really cool and I prefer the locker bag shape over a traditional gym bag since I workout at the YMCA and keep all my stuff in a locker.

I remember when these were about $100 and I'm glad to see the price has dropped considerably over the years. I've had mine for about 2 years.

Pros:

1. Looks Its a great looking bag (I have the black/red design). I still have people at the gym who ask me about it.

2. Quality Very good build quality. I usae mine 5 times a week and it still looks new and the zippers and fabric are holding up well. Not to mention its rigid enough it keeps its shape all the time empty or full unlike cheaper knock-offs.

3. Locker Design This is the main reason I wanted one of these. Tall narrow lockers are a pain and this design works well in a locker and makes it easier to get to my stuff.

4. Lots of Pockets This thing has a place for everything. It has a front pocket for misc., a main compartment for your clothes, a rear pocket that is sealed for wet items and two side narrow pockets (I use them for my iPad, workout schedules, etc). Not to mention all the toiletry pockets for shampoo, deodorant, etc.

5. Shoe Divider I love that there is a shelf keep my tennis shoes away from my clothes. You never know what you're stepping on and I don't want it on my clothes.

Cons:

1. Single Zipper The three main compartments all have only one zipper each. To me this is a cheap design and really hurts the brand. There should be two zippers on each compartment, if for no other reason than to allow the owner to put a small suitcase lock on and secure your items inside from others. As it is now, you cannot lock any compartment.

2. Hanging in Locker You can sit this bag on the floor of a locker, but that means you have to bend over to get anything in or out. I like to hang my bag up higher. To do this you have to use the shoulder strap. It works okay, but is not ideal and puts unnecessary wear on the strap. I'd suggest a sewn in s-hook or similar on the back or middle of the bag. This would let you hang it either from a coat hook or cross bar that are in most lockers.

3. Carabiners I wish this product came with a way to more easily hang Carabiners from the bag. Often I have water bottles, wet sacks, etc. that come with a Carabiner for attachment.

4. Water Bottle Holder There really is no dedicated elastic water bottle pocket and there really should be on either the front, back or sides.

Overall I really like this bag, but it lacks some obvious amenities to be a 5-star quality bag worth $50+ dollars.

SOLO Vintage 16" Leather Laptop Backpack

O ordered this backpack for my son who graduated from college and was still using his old school backpack. I was hoping it would look a little more worn, but I am hoping it will with time. It is also smaller than what he is used to, as it has more compartments and less open space where he can put clothes etc. if he is going away overnight or for a weekend.

Generally, it seems nice enough and not too stuffy so I am hoping it will be an okay transition.

This backpack can holdup to some serious abuse. I've had my backpack for about three months now and it looks like the day I got it. I use it everyday and carry it from class to class with it jambed packed with books, notebooks, calculator, and my 15" HP laptop. The laptop compartment is plenty big enough and its also well padded for protection. All the seams are stiched with heavyduty thread and all the stress points are riveted. The craftsmanship is top of the line. SOLO must have a really good quality contol department. After I finish school I plan on using it to carry around my IT tools.
