Maxpedition Condor-II Backpack

As with all Maxpedition packs, the Condor II offers top notch quality, expandability and quality workmanship.

The pack is a top loader, so you can cramp in your gear until its full, stomp on the top, then cram some more.

The bottom of the pack has lash points so you can attach a bed roll or sleeping bag. I used a couple of nylon straps and attached a 32 degree sleeping bag to the bottom.

The pack is covered with PALS (ladder system) to attach MOLLE or ALICE equipment all over it. I have the Maxpedition map and GPS case attached to the small outside pouch. While on a hiking trip, I can lay the pack on the ground, open the map case, get the GPS out, drink from the water bladder and never have to open the main compartments of the pack.

The compression straps work well for keeping the pack slim, and for lashing a tri-pod stool to the side of the pack.

I see no reason why this pack can not be used for an over night pack or even a 2 day pack. The main compartment is big enough to carry extra clothing, one man tent, MREs, hammock, rain poncho, poncho liner, tent stakes. While the other compartments are big enough to carry a first aid kit, flashlights, GPS, topo maps, map compass, water filter,, and other odds and ends.

The water bladder compartment is big enough to fit a 2 quart bladder and have plenty of room left over.

The shoulder straps have plenty of padding.

Overall, this is a well built, well designed pack that I highly recommend.

From a durability standpoint, Maxpedition got this pack right. I'm sure others will whole-heartedly agree that these back packs were made with being indestructible in mind. I just want to give a brief rundown of the important items pack owners should know.

Zippers never caught on excess material and seemed to open and close with absolutely no problems. The fabric is ridiculously stiff and heavy duty, I don't see a hole opening up in a long time. The buckles didn't exactly instill confidence as they seemed a bit thin for my liking. The shoulder straps are made of the same material as the rest of the bag. This is good for keeping it from fraying out on you after a few days of rucking around. However, the reason why I gave this pack 3 stars is because of this very feature. Due to the stiffness of the fabric, the straps will not conform to your shoulders/chest. I typically lug around a much larger Gregory Baltoro 70 loaded up with around 60 lbs with no problems. The Condor II on the other hand, is only loaded with 25 lbs of gear and was simply unbearable for any length of time. Two totally different packs I know, just wanted to make a point of the comfort levels of the shoulder straps. These bad boys cut, pinch and chafe your shoulders and the upper part of your chest. The waist belt which usually offloads the weight from your shoulders didn't help much.

Take note, back packs seem to be priced according to comfort, durability and materials used. The Condor II is all about durability, materials seem to be in the middle and comfort is nonexistent. My suggestion is this, if you're willing to shell out $130-$140 and are using this pack regularly it would behoove you to look at a pack with an internal frame and more comfortable shoulder straps. Forego the almost unnecessary indestructibleness of this pack, attach your own molle strips and you'll be happy. Or (if you can find a way), remove the straps from the Condor II, attach something more comfortable, add a stiff interior frame and you're set. I was actually thinking of doing this, but I need a solid color bag and Gregory straps come in gray.

This backpack is designed to be indestruble plain and simple, if that's what you're looking for and comfort can take a back seat you'll be in heaven. If you need something that is bomb proof AND comfortable, prepare to pay more for it. I decided that I wanted something more comfortable and could stand to lose the molle attachment points and some durability.

My situation involves commuting about thirty five miles into Chicago by train for graduate school and other responsibilities. I have to carry my laptop computer, text books, notebooks, and other small items. I wanted to combine this role with EDC and BOB roles. In particular, I wanted a bag that carries what I need to get back home in case of a disaster, attack, whatever.

I bought this bag instead of the Vulture 2 because it has more molle straps on the back. I affixed the following Maxpedition items:

* 6 x 9 padded pouch, affixed to left side, carries substantial first aid supplies

* 10 x 4 bottle holder, affixed to right side, carries soda and snacks

* Monkey admin pouch, affixed to bottom back pocket, EDC role

* Map pack, affixed to top back pocket, maps and compass

I added the 3 liter water bladder as well. After adding all of my three-day items, the bag weighs about twelve pounds (guessing, no scale on hand). It is a little bit of weight but not as much as one would think if I spread out all the gear on a table. The computer and books together weigh quite a lot more than my pack and gear. Because I bought this Condor instead of a Vulture, the aspect ratio is inverted. It is wider than long by a ratio of around 1.5 width to 1 height.

Beside the positive of the attachment possibilities, this pack is highly durable, water resistant, and not easily damaged. This bag can easily meet most outdoor and urban challenges.

You can essentially pimp out this bag to carry everything you can possibly need on a trip. It can easily be converted into a three day bag. It is awesome for outdoor roles, especially with the map case, first aid pouch, and water bladder. There are straps on the bottom of the bag as well. It is something overlooked by a lot of reviewers. While this strap probably is insufficient to hold tent or sleeping bag gear (and this is definitely not a good bag for serious hiking/camping), it can easily hold a tripod, blanket, or any other item commonly taken on one day hikes. I have seen some molle camera bags which I imagine would make this an excellent outdoor photography pack.

I purchased this pack to take with me, basically everywhere. I wanted to put together a modular pack system that held items that could get me through a night or a month. I knew that the pack was not large, but since I was putting together a modular system, I thought it would be about the right size. The main pack carries quite a bit of gear. I do have a few pouches attached to the outside of the pack, which allows me to quickly take what I need if I do not need the entire pack. I have a first aid pouch. A water bottle pouch (where I keep a stainless steel bottle with nested stainless steel cup & my eating flatware , and an utility pouch (where I keep my fire starting kit).

In the main pack I Have 8 x 10 tarp, two heavy duty reflective survival blankets, roll of plastic sheeting attached to bottom of pack with the packs bed roll loops), file, knife sharpener, two knives, Kukri machete, carpenters ax (ax and machete attach to molly loops), hand saw, fishing pole W/reel, fishing kit, sling shot, water filter, stainless steel backpacking cook kit, flash light, whistle, 300' of para cord, two rolls of tarred line, compass, three bandannas, two 50 gal trash bags, wetfire tender, candle lantern w/3 candles. one #5 & one #10 sealine dry bags, shammy towel, hand & dish soap, heat sheet, 12 cotton candles, needle nose vice grips,.22 pistol, 20 snares, 12 carabiners, three bungee cords, cable ties, hydration bladder, two days of food and a change of clothes. Add that with the first aid, water bottle, & fire kit pouches and I have a great system & weighs about 32 pounds (with no water in bladder). As you can see this pack holds quite a bit. I keep hearing people say that this is a "DAY" pack. I can tell you that if it is set up right it can be more than a day pack.

The pack is well made and is comfortable, for people with normal or short torso's. If you have a long torso the waist belt will not take the weight of the pack off of your shoulders and makes the pack unbearable after a short time (if you are over 6'tall, this may not be the pack you want). The pack has molly loops all over it making it easy to attach most pouches & accessories. The pack is not water proof, you do get some moisture making its way through the zippers (reason for the 4 stars), but it is a minimal amount. The nylon sheds water well and so far my gear has stayed dry. (I always put a dry bag in at the top of the bag to help keep the moisture from the zippers away from the rest of the gear).

The longest trip I have done with this set up is 6 days, I added a ultra light sleeping bag, and another set of cloths to the pack for that trip. It so far I am pleased with the performance of this pack. Over all this pack is a great base for my system.

UPDATE:

I Have given this pack to the wife and she loves it, and I have to admit that is seems to fit her better than it did me. It was for the most part comfortable, but the longer I had it the less I liked the fit. It seems that maybe 5'10" is at the tall end of this bag. I still stand behind the construction, it is a great pack.

This is a great pack. It's not as large as I'd hoped, but that's my fault for not reading the description a bit more closely. Though not terribly large, this pack is tough as nails. I clearly over stuff it, but it holds together without protest. The zippers are very sturdy, and the stitching seems to be holding up no problem. I also own the Colossus Versipack, and between the two, I haul all my gear back & forth to West Africa (Boots included). They definitely live up to the name "Hard-Use Gear."

Levi's Mission 2 Backpack

I'm a big fan of unconventional laptop bags... one's that do not necessarily announce that you are carrying a computer and/or a DSL on your back.

Overally, this bag feels very light, and does not have the heft typically associated with a well padded backpack. The item description clearly states "Padded laptop compartment protects your notebook computer during transport" but upon receiving and inspecting the item, I have come to realize that the "padded" compartment is merely a generous interpretation of the padded back. The product tag on the actual item also claims a padded bottom, but I am not able to appreciate any padding there.

I feel unsafe carrying anything of real value in this bag, and do not recommend this bag for even light computer use.

I wanted a light weight pack mostly for clothing, small gadgets, and other misc items.

As already noted in another review, there is no padded laptop compartment in the Levi's Luggage Mission 2 Backpack. The only thin padding is in the very back section of the pack that rests against your back. The shoulder straps have some padding and there is a worthless amount of very thin padding at the bottom of the pack. The padding in this backpack is clearly insufficient for protecting a laptop.

However, a well padded pack is usually heavier so the lack of padding is actually a benefit in my case for those times when I want a light pack just for clothing, snacks, smartphone, etc. Should I need to transport my laptop, I plan to use the Hard Candy Case Bubble Sleeve for my MacBook Air before slipping it into the backpack.

A better laptop backpack alternative for some folks might be the Belkin Core Laptop Backpack fits up to 15.6-Inch laptops. This one, which I also own, is better padded and only slightly heavier. I paid less than twenty five dollars for it on Amazon back in October 2011. Amazon seems to have raised their prices on many items after the Christmas holiday.

I usually place a strip of foam padding on the bottom of any backpack when transporting a laptop for extra protection.

The interesting color and design of the product is very impressive and attractive. I especially appreciate the smaller front pocket and hanging internal pocket within one of the larger compartments. This backpack holds a significant amount of items, and as a student, this comes in handy. It is very sturdy and durable, although I do agree that it's compartment designed for laptops wouldn't be very effective. Other than that, it's a great bag.

I finally decided to post a review about my Heckler backpack from The North Face. I'll start by saying that if this one ever wears out, I'm just going to buy another one.

I bought the backpack in December of 2009 and since then it has experienced 6 semesters of college, 2 1/2 months of working at a summer camp, and a two week trip in China. After all that it's still in near perfect condition, the only sign of wear appears to be a water retardant clear-coat that lines the inside of the bag.

What this bag offers you is durability, capacity, versatility, and organization.

DURABILITY: After everything I've put it though it's lasted me this long and appears to have many years ahead of it.

CAPACITY: The main compartment is enormous. During the trip to china I used it as my carry-on. It held my toiletries, a change of clothes as well as a rain jacket, 32 oz. water bottle, and two books with a notebook. Inside of the main compartment there is a laptop sleeve with a velcro strap, as well as two 3x7 pockets attacked to the front wall. In the smaller pocket there is a pocket that can hold multiple books (depending on the size, I put a Bible and notebook in mine), as well as two more smaller pockets that could easily fit a cell phone. There are three pencil holders. And then of course you have the main pocket that you could stuff anything into. There is one more zip pocket above the one just discussed for an MP3 player with a hole for a headphone cord. I usually store my IPhone in this pocket during class for quick availability. On the side of the bag you have two adjustable straps with a buckle function designed to compress or expand the pack as you see fit. Under them there is a bungee equipped water bottle holder, again, I use a 32 oz. water bottle, so it's pretty big. On the front of the pack there are multiple loops made of a durable material that you can easily clip a carabiner to or tie a rope to attach something too big for the adjustable bungee. I have fit a pair of tennis shoes in the bungee, for a capacity reference. On the bottom of the pack there are two adjustable straps that can be used for whatever purpose you see fit. I can see them being used to carry around a compressed sleeping bag, I've used mine to carry around a towel on occasion. The straps of the pack offer two buckles that can offer support when you clip them around your torso, as well as two D-rings and one small pocket that can hold a small cell phone or in my case, a pocket-knive/multi-tool.

**a side note about the capacity. I worked a second summer at the camp after my first with the Heckler and received as a gift a Columbia Half Track. They asked that we use the packs during school for advertisement but I just couldn't do it! the pack was so small compared to my heckler I had to switch back.

VERSATILITY: I have used this pack in many contexts and it fits them all. If your outdoors hiking and need a hefty day-pack or if your in school and have to carry around a lot of books.

ORGANIZATION: being organized is a major thing for me. Not only do I want to be able to carry a lot, I want to know where to find it within 10 seconds of looking. With all the various sized pockets available on the pack, that is 100% possible.

The only thing left to be spoken of is the price. I'll be honest, I'm usually cheap but I am willing to spend big money on things that I know are going to be quality and that I'm going to use a lot. I have never had an unhappy moment with my Heckler, never been frustrated that I can't fit something or attach a thing. And no unhappy moments with my Heckler is worth the $80 bucks I paid for it. And like I said, I will be buying a new one when this one wears out (if it does).

This backpack is great if you are a college student like myself. It is very durable. It is great if you want to use it for backpacking because you can extend it to fit in anything from a paper and pencil to loads of textbooks and clothes. It looks great, feels great when you wear it, and it even has a big pocket inside where you can fit a medium size laptop (with plenty of space left over for books) and take it on the go.

I had it for about eight months so far and I could not be more happier with it.

Tumi Alpha Bravo Kingsville Deluxe Brief Pack

First off, yes, it's an expensive backpack, but it's a Tumi. Since it's a Tumi, I expect years and years of service from it. The bag is made from their signature ballistic nylon so it should last decades like my luggage. The fit and finish are superb on this bag. All the zippers were protected for shipping so the bag was flawless on arrival. It is a very nice looking bag, the photos don't do it justice. There is a protected slot for a laptop, one for an iPad, one for what could be a netbook or file folders, a generous main cargo area and numerous side and front pockets, one of which includes a key hanger. I found the iPad slot didn't work for my iPad with its Jobi Ori cover, but the netbook sized slot worked fine. 15" laptop also fit fine. This bag will carry clothes for an overnighter in the main cargo area. There is a water bottle holder. The bag fit great in an airplane's overhead bin and under the seat.

All in all, it's a Tumi so it is functional, good looking, and will last nearly forever under hard use.

Update 3/16/2013:

Still looks great, and I am still glad I purchased it. In fact I just bought another as a gift.

I use this bag to carry my important stuff when I travel, and it is close to perfect.

The laptop sleeve inside is sized to best fit a laptop the size of a MacBook Pro or similar laptop. These days when I travel I carry an UltraBook sized laptop (a Lenovo Yoga 13), and there's plenty of room for that. You could probably squeeze in a thick laptop, but I think it may stress the lining a bit. There is another pouch opposite the laptop sleeve for carrying a tablet or second laptop. I stick my iPad in there.

One surprise I had is that there is no extra padding in the bottom of the laptop sleeve, so you can't slam the bag down hard on ground. It's less of a problem if you laptop uses a SSD hard drive, but for regular "spinning" hard drives, you need to be careful. Tumi should add some gel padding in the bottom of the laptop sleeve in future generations of this bag.

The materials are excellent (as I would expect) and it has survived many trips so far without a hitch. One of my favorite aspects of this bag is that it doesn't balloon outward as you pile in a lot of stuff. Other packs I've owned grow horizontally, sticking out further and further from your back, which is a problem when traveling. This one keeps its shape well. The two wide vertical stripes you see on the front of the bag are made from the same material as a seat belt (it seems to me), so maybe they help to keep the bag from getting misshapen when full. It all looks and works great.

The drink holder pocket (on the right side of the photo) is deep enough to hold a 1 liter SmartWater bottle. If you put a small water bottle in there, it sinks down so low you might forget it's in there.

I recommend this Tumi pack to anyone looking for a great-looking bag that can handle a lot of daily use, while keeping its shape nicely. Well worth the extra money you pay for a Tumi.

Although my mom complains that she doesn't like the material the carrying case is made off, I still LOVE this carrying case! It's so beautiful! Most messenger bags that I have seen and owned are really ugly and don't protect my computer as much as this carrying case does! It has some sort of material that really protects the laptop against much damage. Plus it has this thing that kind of separates the laptop from other stuff you may be carrying in your messenger bag, which is a feature none of the other messenger bags that I have own have had, so this was a bonus. I've had this bag for a couple of months now, and I didn't use it much as first but 3 days after I started using it on a daily bases, one of the straps fell off!!! The white part that is sown on the the pink part ( the things on the sides of the bag that has the metal triangle that the straps or attached to) it just completely came off!!! I still use it since, besides that, its still a pretty good bag, but its a HUGE inconvenience that I can't carry it like a messenger bag.

The beautiful bag arrived quickly and is just as nice as pictured. It is used to hold my wife's 10.1" tablet with its matching pink cover and does so nicely. Very well padded and keeps the tablet very safe and looks stylish while doing so. Also, has plenty of room for all the accessories that go along with the tablet. Very well made and very reasonably priced based on similar items at retail stores.

I bought this to carry my computer as well as a few other miscellaneous things like office supplies etc. It looks exactly like it does in the picture. I was a little surprised that it didn't expand very much so the inside is very small and compact, difficult to put much more than a computer in it and maybe a notepad or something. The one thing that I do NOT like about this product is the weak zipper. Even on the first use, the zipper separated and was difficult to close. The bag was not over packed or anything and only my computer was in it. I have used it several times since and have had several issues with the zipper. Overall, these problems would not make me return the product however, it is definitely inconvenient.

I bought this for my 5 year old niece, because she is starting kindergarden this fall. This backpack is super cute, it has some sparkle, the Hello Kitty is fuzzy, and it's a good size. Alite Designs Ochiba Pack

I bought the medium sized black version of this pack to use for school and for outdoor activities and so far it's been awesome. I am very small (just shy of 5'2" on a good day) so many packs are way too big and bulky looking on me but this one, while still a little long for my torso, is perfect. I am in graduate school so I schlep around a ton of stuff all the time, and this pack holds an impressive amount of my junk without looking "poofy" or overstuffed at all. I can shove a 13" laptop, its charger, my phone charger, several folders of notes, a clipboard, a pen bag, a makeup bag, my graphing calculator, an umbrella, my checkbook-sized wallet, and a few granola bars or whatever I'm munching on for study fuel into this pack with ease. It handles it all in stride and is stylish to boot, with side straps to hold everything in width-wise and keep my stuff from jostling around, and a back panel that is a wonderful shade of goldenrod-yellow.

Now the gripes (and the reasons for 4 stars, instead of 5): laptop compartment could use a little more padding, no outside pockets for stowing cans of soda/water bottles, etc. and the straps--at the top near the grab handle/loop they seem to be angled in rather sharply so that much of the weight of the pack rests on the inner edges of the strap nearest your spine. Not exactly comfortable, but I suspect that this has something to do with my small size rather than the pack, which is probably designed for larger people. The stock photo on this page shows a yellow butterfly embroidered logo patch but the pack I received has a bear (see the alite designs homepage--this must be their new logo) instead. No biggie, I'm not a butterfly girly-girl anyway. Just a heads up.

Last thing...I live in Seattle and the waterproofing on this thing is amazing. Water just beads up on the fabric and can be brushed away easily once I'm inside a building. I love this thing to pieces so far and am very glad I purchased it.

It's design, material (PVC Poly), form and pockets ... THE PERFECT notebook backback! I really looked around and searched for all kind of backpacks and this one took my interest at once. It's really confortable to carry, the notebook is completely protected inside it's material is water-proof and the laptop pocket is specially designed with additional materials to soften eventual hit. You have lots of pockets and even pockets for mp3 player, cds, easy-reach pocket for keys and money... The backpack is superb!

I have to say that the picture does not really do this bag justice. It is much nicer in person. My husband had an Eddie Bauer Laptop backpack for many years but was starting to tear. I looked for a while because I read that some backpacks will not fit a 15.4 like advertised. He has an HP 15.4 and it fits perfectly with a little room left to zip. The orange interior is interesting because you can easily see whats inside. Since most computer accessories are black. Lots of pockets for all your things. I recommend this for all those looking for a nice laptop backpack. It does not look like a childs bag so it is good for the professional.

We've all gone through the range of backpacks in our lives. In today's age of technology, we require a lot more from our backpacks. And it's still not enough to just have a slot for a laptop. There must be padding around the laptop area and on the bottom. There must be protection from the other objects in your backpack. And there must be structure to the bag itself so that you don't have to worry every time you set the backpack down. The MICROSOFT RAINIER is hands down the best backpack ever made.

I'm a film student and I often have to carry my Macbook Pro 15, an external hard drive, big headphones, a couple textbooks, keys, pens, ipod, BPA free water bottle, and other accessories. The Rainier has enough pockets (and not too many) organized in a way where you instinctually know where to look for whatever you're looking for. This will truly be your best friend at work or school. When I set the Rainier down, it sits upright (just like in the photo) at your side like man's other best friend. All your gear is not sitting on top of each other.

Swissgear, Belkin, Booq, Brenthaven, Ogio make good bags. None of their bags can compete with this one. If I lost my Rainier and Microsoft jacked up the price of this one to $200, I'd still buy it.

And... it's not as geeky in person as it looks in the photo.

Recommendation:

I would not recommend this pack due to the weakness of delicate zippers used to secure essential compartments.

Pros:

The bag is well designed/organized. The overall size permits many different items to be stored securely and conveniently. There is ample padding to protect your fragile devices. Light rain did not penetrate the contents during messy weather.

After less than six months one of the zippers came apart rendering the backpack useless. If you purchased this pack use care in handling/using the zippers as they are delicate and will come apart. If one of the zippers that secure a main compartment fails, the pack will be made useless for its intended purposes. No sternum strap to better secure a load when walking fast or over rough terrain.

Appearance:

My personal preference is to have a backpack that does not suggest to criminals, 'Hey guys look, the laptop is in here, come and get it!' which this pack effectively does with its bright orange zipper pulls that shout out the Microsoft brand name. Instead I would recommend a design that mimics a daypack used for trekking.

Comparison: Microsoft Rainier vs. SwissGear Computer Backpack (Black):

I recently switched to a SWISSGEAR model and have noticed by comparison the materials used are more rugged (heavy-duty). The SwissGear pack, more than adequate for my purposes, can easily accommodate a 15" laptop but overall was less roomy than the Microsoft Rainier. The SwissGear pack is more adjustable with better pulls and side panel cinch straps to secure contents, important if you have to walk a long distance, or have reason to traverse uneven or difficult terrain on foot. SwissGear also includes a sunglasses loop and a small enclosed compartment (big enough to hold a slim-line digital voice recorder or pocket knife) on the shoulder straps. Neither pack had a sternum strap.

I just bought this to replace a notebook back pack I have had for 8 years. I like that tis is a lot lighter and more stylish, but there is a flaw that really annoys me, a lot. I do not pick up the back pack, swing it over the center of my back and then insert both arms into the straps to use to shoulders and my back to carry it. I tend to fling one side of it over one shoulder only and walk from my car to the coffee shop or work, or back to the car. My last back pack had a rubberish underside to the straps, so they sort of gripped my shoulder, keeping it sort of in place. This back pack has a mesh like material that does not grip at all, in fact seems to glide rght off like teflon. So I put it over my shoulder and walk no more than 5 steps and it had slid off my shoulder onto my arm, which is annoying and if carrying coffee, causes it to spill. If only the unit had a non-slip material on the underside of the straps it would be perfect.

My 5 year old wanted this for kindergarten. I worried it was a little to different from the mainstream, but he loves it. It's very well made. It's larger than most backpacks for younger kids. It has a divider in the interior which is useful for organizing things. It also has a nice harness you can strap across your chest to keep it from falling off your shoulders. The outer pockets are a little hard to push a water bottle in at first, but they ease up in time. It's very fun and something I think we'll have for a long time!

Excellent and durable material. My daughter is so happy with it and lots of her classmates asked her where she got it.

My 8-year old daughter loves attention, and so I was looking for a backpack that would help her stand out. Le Donne Leather Multi Pocket Back Pack

This backpack was even better in person. Leather was soft and just beautiful. Straps are sturdy and very well made. There was nothing negative about the bag. I love it!

This is an excellent general purpose backpack for my uses that vary from using it as a carry-on on airline travel to using it for hiking in the forests anywhere. It has many secure pouches and areas to hold passports, currency, etc. It is light in weight, durable and very well constructed. My only problem with this backpack is the fact that the main flap is secured with a magnet and being a male I am not gentle with it and it pops open for me sometimes. This unit replaced one that I've had for over twenty years so it had big shoes to fill ! I would buy the same unit again in a heart beat.

Hideaway Super Slam Backpack

This pack fits everything I need for overnight hikes into the hills and is very comfortable. I like the ability to use each piece separately or together. I've added a hydration bladder to the pack and my gear still fits well with some room left over.

I bought this backpack about 5 months ago and I'm extremely happy with my purchase!

It has a really big main pocket (aprox. 18x15x5")with a pocket for a hydration bladder in it and multiple good size pockets on the outside for added storage. The construction feels quite sturdy and the fabric is quiet enough, so you wont be making any unwanted noise on the woods. As for the waist-pack, it's very big as well (aprox. 13x5x8")with 3 outside pockets, so you can fit any thing you may (or may not, hahaha) need on your hunting trip.

You can use the backpack and waist-pack separately or together. I found both ways to be very comfortable, the upside of using them together is that the waist-pack gives added stability to the backpack, as you can hook the shoulder straps directly to the waist-pack. Plus the padding on both is quite thick, which makes them ideal for long hikes.

The only reason I'm giving it 4/5 is that I haven't use it on rainy days so I don't know how waterproof this is...

I have had this back for five months and the I had to get the one of the shoulder straps done because the seam was giving away. The inside lining giving away and this one cannot be sewed back since it would need to re sew all the inside of the backpack.

I carry a D90, a Nikkor 35mm, a Tamron 17-50mm, a Tamron 70-300 and a SB700 speedlight I thought this bag would be enough for this but it seems that it isn't.

This bag is really nice. I love how versatile this bag is! You can either have a backpack or sling on either your left or right side. It holds my canon 60d with battery grip, 430 ex flash, 70-300 lens and I still have room for about two more lens. The top compartment is awesome, holding all your other items. The rain jacket is very cool too! The only thing I don't really like about the bag is the laptop holder; it's nice, but the compartment is kind of small and with all my equipment plus the laptop it gets very heavy. But I would recommend this bag to anyone who is just starting out in photography and doesn't have that much money for a nicer bag.

The backpack holds multiple lens and other accessories. When we flew from the mainland to Hawaii it also held the laptop. It is easy to slip off one of the backpack straps, sling it across your body and have easy access to lenses while hiking. I could not give this product 5 stars because on a recent hike, in 80+ temps the backpack caused discoloration to my husband's T-shirt.

Bag was in overall good condition. A handle was missing but luckily I work somewhere that the ladies here (fantastic at sewing) were able to make and attach a handle with no problem. Otherwise, I love the feature the bag has room for a trolly to be used, the tripod clips and foot holders, access from both right and left sides of the bag, etc. I'm very pleased with the product. Wouldn't hesitate to order another one maybe for my mom.

I absolutely love it. I have only one complaint and so I'll say that first. The tripod holder is flimsy/ small, and the buckle that holds it is cheap plastic. Other than that, It fits my 15.9 inch laptop easily with about a half inch on both sides It has adjustable compartments which hold my canon dslr camera, and 2 lens. Also has multiple other compartments which can fit my laptop charger, mouse, sync cables, sd cards, and more.
