My mom sent these to my kids (6 & 9) for Christmas and we are all really impressed. It looks like the pack might be made out of leather, not sure on this. the material is very high quality. The construction is really really good. Its got a nice padded back and a buckle in the front to cross the chest. At first i thought the price was high but then again you cant see on here how nice the material is and the quality craftsmanship that's put into it. Well worth it. My kids LOVE these bags!!! And its just in time cause their cheap backpacks i got them at the beginning of the year have fallen apart already and its only been 2 grading periods.

I ordered this in orange and pink. I think this has plenty of room, and the cool factor is definitely there for all ages. It has a very nice velcro secured pocket inside that could fit a laptop, or in our case, separates school papers for me to sign from everything else. However, I did not consider this to be as durable as someone else had stated. Perhaps they meant the inner portion being durable, which I agree 100% it certainly is, but the exterior is the one in question. I think the vinyl coating on it is very similar to that of what I found on Carter's toddler shoes (if you're a parent you probably know what I mean, it looks pretty but definitely not for rough and tumble kids), you skid at all with it, you lose the surface colored portion. At this price, I'm very disappointed in that factor. I fully expected this to last a few years, not just one, but at the rate my son is using it I imagine it'll be replaced next year. I would definitely not purchase this again as who wants to tell their kids, "hey, be careful with your backpack, dont toss it on the floor!" (yea right!)

Embassy 23" Leather Backpack

This backpack had lots of room but fell apart from the bottom. My daughter is in 7th grade and has a lot of homework, I needed something big and sturdy, but only got the big part. The leather on the bottom gets scraped off, should be reinforced. The wheels are really loud. Would not purchase again.

The leather backpack is soft, large, lots of room for all you need to carry.

It rolls great and the wheels are sturdy. It is very well made.

This is so close to being a great bag that it is frustrating.

If you are using this to lug stuff around at home for work or school, you could frankly get the same functionality cheaper. If you really want this for plane and train travel, then this is a compromise.

Pros:

1) It has good handles and converts to a backpack

2) Conversion is easy enough

3) Using as backpack reasonably comfortable (I am 50yrs old , 5 ft 2 and 110 lbs, so that gives you some idea that is is not just comfortable for strapping young athletes). You are not going to want to do any hiking or long walks, but if you have anything else to wheel and this on your back (or terrain where wheeling is impractical or lost of stairs) you can tolerate this.

4) Also has built in place on the back to go over the handle of another suitcase with a handle, so it is very flexible.

5) Laptop compartment ok wasn't really enough padding, but there WAS padding in one of the other compartments you can use. Convenient to get laptop in and out at checkpoints

6) Durable (I travel internationally 4-5 times a year and domestically about 5-10 times per year) it has held up well for a year, although the handle is starting to go now.

Cons:

1) The handle is too short, even for me. Also not adjustable at all.

2) The compartments are all organized in a weird way. It sounds like I am being picky, but this will really grate on your nerves trust me. There is a lot of empty space in the bottom angled back that you can stuff things into but only if you REALLY stuff them. This is inconvenient, you can't find or access your items and everything is mushed.

3) There is a lot of wasted space around the handle. This is a shame with a small plastic divider, you could easily fit cords, chargers, umbrella and other small or narrow items and that wouldn't add much weight to the design.

4)It is pretty heavy when empty (the SAKS is much lighter when empty).

5) it fits in overhead bins on larger planes but NOT on some puddle jumpers it should do according to the measurements, but it simply does not.

5) The pockets in front are kind of useless. The bag is so funnel shaped that what seems like good organization and useful features turn out to be squished and not usable.

6) Does not fit as much stuff as it size would indicate because of the shape. You MIGHT manage to stuff your jacket in there with your kindle and phone charge etc, but you would never be able to wear it.

It doesn't seem like an impossible request to have luggage that can actually travel. Wheels are great, but not on stairs. If you travel by limo ( in which case someone else is carrying your bag) you don't need these things, but if you have to take a shuttle, train, get to long term parking, move about a campus or city once you reach your destination then we need to be actually mobile. We need shoulder handles and backpack straps people.

I got this backpack as a gift from my sister and I can't say enough how happy I am with it. I fly a lot for work and I also walk to work a mile a day. Whether I wear is as a backpack or roll it behind me it is a breeze to use. Prior to owning this pack, I had to lug around an uncomfortable laptop case provided by work that was really killing my back.

It fits a 15" dell with room to spare, it can fit quite a bit of things and fit in the overheads in small jets. It is simply perfect for me. My coworker bought one 2 weeks later seeing how awesome it is.

Backpack is of great quality. Large and removable pockets, good carrying handle, molygear attachments are solid, thick polyester protects from the elements well. Adjustment of the straps was nothing too difficult, just know you will need to re-thread them cause they ain't snug or tight from the factory. bladder is adequate; make sure you clean it before use. the sleave that holds it is seamed well. takes up alot of space in the compartment, but that's just the nature of having 2.5 liters of water in your backpack. the back padding is very thick and able to withstand punishment (it won't lacerate easily without determination). If you need an ACU Digital backback with all the above, get this.

This is my new bug out bag. I love the built in camel. Lots of room. I hope I don't have to use it, but I will be comfortable with it if I do. Lots of room, and all the MOLLE attachments make it versatile.

I would not recommend this Diaper Backpack at all...it is big & bulky. The insulated portion is almost as large as the remainder of the storage space (neither big enough to store daily necessities. We had this bag one week and the interior tore...we have had it 3 months and the mesh on the outside is unraveling. Definitely not a quality diaper bag.

This baby bag is very heavy and bulky for the amount of things that actually fit into it. Having the insulated portion at the bottom of the bag is inconvenient because when it is empty, the bag constantly falls over. It might be more helpful when we're past the bottle stage.

This bag is not the prettiest of the bags, but if you have to carry a laptop (16 inch, Dell) along with at least 2 case books, 3 other softcover supplementary books, a big water bottle, pencil case, snacks, and other incidentals, then this is the back pack. It is backpack width, so it can fit in most rows when I need.

The mesh on the sides are quite strong. It is also deep enough that a big bottle of Smart water does not fall out of the bag. It looks like this back pack might last until I graduate!

I am still shopping for another bag that could fit just one more case book. I have returned 3 already. I ended up coming back to this one. It is the second semester that I am using it. My husband used this bag for two years before.

One thing that is not so good in this bag. If you put your laptop toward the back, the plastic top support of the super-strong handle may cut or at least nick your hands as you ease that laptop out. But considering the wheel holds, the balance is great, I really cannot complain.

This is a light weight good looking rolling backpack. My daughter loves it and receives a lot of compliments on it.

It has only been 2 weeks since we have been using the bag for school. The bag is lovely big, spacious and is working well for my son. However, by the end of the first day, one of the screws on the handle was loose. I tightened it but by the end of the next day it was loose again and it's been an ongoing issue.

My only complaint about this bag is that the handle could have been made a little sturdier. Other than that, it's great I just hope it makes it to the end of the school year.

I've been looking for a backpack to replace the two bags I carry for both jobs. This bag is large enough that it fits everything I needed in a much more organized way. While not a dufflebag like I used to carry, It works well and feels like it'll last.

Eagle Creek Travel Gear Pack-It Wallaby

In general I like Eagle Creek stuff and own a lot of it. The basic idea of the Wallaby as a clam shell, hanging shaving kit (or the equivalent for women) is a good one. Hotel sinks seldom have enough space and whatever you put there invariably gets wet or falls off the narrow spaces around a pedistal sink. So a hanging kit is a good idea. But the designers of the Wallaby wanted to give you a small mirror too, perhaps for installing contact lenses or doing something when another mirror is not available. However a glass mirror would present a danger if broken, so they put this mirror on to a thick, non-breakable plastic plate, making it bulky. What's worse, the mirror is located in the exact same place as the clunky swivel "knuckle" on the plastic hanging hook, so the two conflict with one another. The swivel knuckle and thick mirror together, separated by one piece of nylon fabric, create a large, hard lump on one side of the Wallaby, which I didn't like. A swiveling knuckle is not necessary; a fabric or elastic attachment to the case would serve the same purpose and not conflict with the mirror. The plastic hanging hook should be flat. That simple design change would eliminate the problem. The other gripe I have is that the illustrations on Eagle Creek's webiste and on Amazon don't adequately show the inside of the Wallaby, the organization of the elastic pockets. The pockets configuration is more important than the outside appearance of the closed unit. The interior is a different color than the outside, so you can't tell from the product photo what the inside color is, because it's different for each exterior color. For the Rio Red, the interior is a particularly unappealing gray that doesn't contrast well with the contents, so as to aid in rapid identification of the contents you put there. Black or white or almost any other color designed to contrast or highlight the contents would be more helpful. More design thought to eliminating the conflict between the hanging hook and the mirror, and better selection of the interior color (at least so a customer would know what the color is before ordering it) would improve the product greatly. All the interior pockets don't need elastic tops. At least one compartment should have a see-through net and zippered top to contain small, loose objects like tweezers and whatnot. I returned mine, but I'd consider it again with some design modifications. The Wallaby is a good idea, but not yet ready for prime time.

I was looking for a large toiletry kit to replace on old one that is on its last legs. The size of the wallaby was stated to be 400 Cubic Inches. If only. I just went back to the website to find the actual dimmensions Capacity: 400 cu in / 6.5 L Weight: 13 x 7.5 x 3 in / 33 x 19 x 8 cm . I did the arithmetic. 13 * 7.5 * 3 is 292.5 cubic inches. I've had this for around 2 years; I bought it go on with me on safari in Kenya, where it came in extremely helpful, as it has the high-quality swivel hook, so you can hang it pretty much anywhere.

I should also add I love the red, and that it feels "safari"-y. Sorry, but there it is. : )

But as much as I've hated to admit it in the last 2 years, I've always just felt it needed something.

Specifically, more pockets and side-conatainers.

For example, if you use the top netted area for things that need to dry (toothbrush, soap container), you can't put band-aids in there. And obviously you can't put band-aids in the wet pocket, and after that there's no place for them to go. They just flop around in the middle compartment with all the other stuff. The little elastic-y pockets inside don't accomplish a whole lot.

It's just one example. This thing is basically a giant, super-light clamshell zip-pocket with two big containers and some elastic pouches that don't fit anything all that well. After that, to separate or sort anything you're out of luck.

So I've spent a lot of time looking at other models, and today got the Ricardo Beverly Hills Essentials Travel Organizer, which is doing a much better job at a cheaper price.

Sorry, Eagle Creek. I love you guys, but a hyper-organizer like me just needs a few more options!

Bare | Lido Backpack - Burgundy

The backpack is really cute but after using for a couple of weeks only I noticed a few issues:

the colors run. I now own a pair of pants whose back turned red as a result of the rubbing off of the colors. The blue lining also runs (a book carried inside is now blue along the edges)

the back panel wasn't sewed all the way. The tear has gotten worse and you can now see the foam backing

two of the eyelets for the main drawstring have torn off already

Overall I would not recommended. I was expecting a much better product quality for that price

I was pleased with this bag from the moment I received it. It was exactly as described. This last weekend it was put to the extreme test, with torrential rains and heavy seas battering the boat we were sailing on. Everything got soaked on board, except for what I had stowed safely in this bag dry as a bone! Delighted I had it.

In addition, it appears to be pretty hardy bag as its already endured some rough treatment without much I'll effect. My only concern on the bag are the buckles, they seem a little brittle but the test of time will show if my concern is warranted. I suppose for the price, it's very excellent value!

Columbia Elite One Technical Daypack

I got this backpack because a friend has one and I was able to see that it is: sturdy, has much room, a computer pocket, and superior ventilation for my back. I did some research and found that Columbia, as far as I could tell, is the only manufacturer to really try to get some venting built into their backpacks. For years I have gone around with a sweaty back and thought of all the heat that was being trapped by my backpacks and usefulness a well vented backpack would have. This backpack really seems to have a well thought out ventilation system built into it. Upon receiving my bag and yanking/ pulling on it in ways I did not wish to with my friend's bag I found it to be more robust than I had remembered. Over all it is seems to be well worth the money.

There are only two things I found that bug me. One is that the bottom of the backpack is rounded so it has to be set against the wall or laid on the floor because it will not stand up on its own. The other is that Compass Blue is much brighter than it appears in the picture. That isn't the fault of the backpack or of Columbia it just is what it is. Bright blue

I ride a bike to work and use this backpack for my work clothes, shoes, towel etc. and often my laptop too.

My commute is usually less than 20min and the weather sealing keeps all moisture out. There is plenty of space, the laptop compartment is neat and really inconspicuous . The shoulder straps are good and although I don't usually use the waist belt it's nice to have it for when I take the backpack on hikes. (It's not padded but I wouldn't want a padded belt on my commute pack anyway)

All in all it's a quality bag, I haven't found any fault with it and you can tell some thought went into making it.

This backpack was even better in person. Leather was soft and just beautiful. Straps are sturdy and very well made. There was nothing negative about the bag. I love it!

This is an excellent general purpose backpack for my uses that vary from using it as a carry-on on airline travel to using it for hiking in the forests anywhere. It has many secure pouches and areas to hold passports, currency, etc. It is light in weight, durable and very well constructed. My only problem with this backpack is the fact that the main flap is secured with a magnet and being a male I am not gentle with it and it pops open for me sometimes. This unit replaced one that I've had for over twenty years so it had big shoes to fill ! I would buy the same unit again in a heart beat.

Frommer's Hatchback Mini Backpack

This lightweight bag has a lot of features to love. It has 3 pockets in front, some inside organizer pouches in the main compartment and a hidden zipper pocket in the back. The shoulder straps are padded (yeah !) and adjustable. There is a water bottle pocket on the side that closes with a clever magnet so it is not flapping around when empty. It is waterproof (or very water resistant). The bag is padded so it keeps its shape when stood on the floor and it has a clear plastic panel on the bottom so the bag doesn't get dirty or wet. Lots of places to keep ID, transit cards etc and enough room inside for someone who is a bit of a hoarder. Can fit a kindle or ipad, and the padding would give it some protection.

Personally, I could do without the padding so as to have more room, but it isn't obtrusive. It does tend to make the bad more comfortable to wear if you are only in a t-shirt. Just note that the front-most pockets (flap closure and the zip one next to it) will not fit most smart phones but do fit my luddite, old fashioned cell phone.

It doesn't look CEO dressy, but it isn't like a trek backpack or daypack you could probably use it in most work environments. Also great to take the kids to the park or for a mass transit commute or shopping.

Positively a keeper thinking of getting some more colors

I bought this backpack to solve a professional dilemma. I am a relatively high ranking executive and have to attend meeting with people so senior that suit is a must for everyone. At the same time, I have over years developed a painful spinal condition that no longer allows me to carry briefcases with anything at all, let alone laptops. I need to spread the weight evenly over my back, hence a laptop backpack is a must.

99% of all backpacks were designed is a student or hipster style, and do look ridiculous with a suit. On the other side, leather backpacks all emulate 'cowboy' look again, not good with a suit. Some look executive but do not have two straps and cannot spread the weight evenly. This is one of the very few backpacks that is a backpack with all bells and whistles in the skin (hehe) of an executive briefcase.

I bought this backpack to have something that I would wear around on both straps on my back, take it off immediately before I enter the door, and everyone would take it for an executive leather briefcase. So far, this plan works smoothly, and I expect that this backpack will serve me 10 years or more. This kind of puts me in consent with the price I never paid before and might never pay again for a backpack.

Pictures both here and on official website do not show it, but the backpack has a legitimate laptop section inside. If fits Macbook Pro 15" well, 17 inch notebooks might already feel squeezed.

This backpack is small. For this reason is just perfect for carrying what you can do/see in one day hike. It has compartments for whatever you need to carry. It also has 2 pockets (one on each side) for carrying hydration (water bottle or whatever). Straps fit well to small frame man like me. Light weight. It possess some sort of technology that allows breathing to avoid back/shoulder sweating. It allows blood circulation around your shoulders, back and chest if you were to carry heavy items, i.e. some groceries or a big papaya.

The best is that it has style. Oh yeah! you gotta walk around with beauty ;0)
