I've been commuting to work for a few months and got tired of trying to shove my work clothes, shoes, shower kit, etc, into a normal-sized day pack. I set out to find a larger pack that was comfortable to ride with, and I have found what I was looking for with this Pacific Outdoor Equipment Crank Commuter Pack.

First I must say, it looks pretty dorky. the top flap that just flaps over (rather than anything zipping) is not a cool look. But do I care? Heck no I don't care. Because guess why I don't care? Because this bag is ROOOMMMYY. That's right, I can fit everything I need to in this bag, and then some. My helmet even goes inside it if I have to take the bus home. It's great that way. Also, it self-adjusts its size, based on how full it is. The flap can come way over if it's half full, which is a nice feature.

It's also pretty comfortable-as comfortable as a pack can be when you're hunched over your handbars, anyway. I've learned to pack a little lighter because any kind of pack while bicycling is annoying. Fortunately this bag does a good job of minimizing that annoyance.

I can only give this bag 4 stars because of the mysterious lack of outside pockets. There's one on the side, but it's so small I can barely squeeze my wallet into it. How about a pocket that fits a wallet, a cell phone, a bike computer, and a set of keys? I don't think that's unreasonable. There are, fortunately, a couple of inside pockets you can put small stuff in, but having to undo the main compartment just to get at my keys is a nuisance.

I carried this backpack throughout Europe for one month last summer, with between 15-20 pounds of gear, and I do not believe I thought about it once. I wasn't tugging at shoulder straps, cinching and uncinching, bouncing it up and down, etc. I have worn a lot of packs, and for me there is no contest this is the best I've worn. It just seems to fit me like a glove. The features are surprising and robustly made. It is easy to open the bag up to access gear below or above without dismantling the whole thing. The bungees on the outside expand beautifully to accomodate a helmet or large jacket. There are two top pockets for small things. There is a hook for keys, so that they don't fall out when you are not paying attention. The rain cover is so convenient and unnoticeable when you are not using it, tucked away in a small pocket on the underside of the pack. The chest strap, can be moved up and down ingeniously, with just enough friction to hold it in place, but not enough to make moving it difficult. The side pockets don't accomodate much, and certainly not bulky items, and if you do have something larger than perhaps 6 Clif bars you should load it in the side pockets first. In short, I love this pack!

I bought this pack because I already own a number of larger backpacks. I wanted something small that I could take my lunch to work, or a small change of clothes for long day out. What I got was exactly that, plus one that has a place for my camelback water bladder. This replaced my larger trail backpack I was using as well. This is not advertised as a laptop bag, maybe a tablet or netbook might fit, but this is a "day pack" It is made thoughtful and well, quality stitching,good looking design makes this a great product. Buy one if you like having an assortment of backpacks to use for the right situation. I use mine ALL the time.

Be sure you check the dimensions on this. It could fit my laptop and that was about it. Way too small for much of anything. Not enough pockets and compartments. Just didn't work for my needs. Seemed very durable and I generally love this brand.

This backpack is very nice and provides good protection for the laptop. I have a 17" HP laptop and it fits with room to spare. The padding in the laptop compartment seems adequate for protection and the tablet pocket is also well padded and fits my iPad3 with case very well, also with room to spare. The shoulder straps are well padded and comfortable and adjust easily while being worn. There are plenty of pockets and compartments for all your device and mobile storage needs. The only knock I have (and this goes for just about every backpack I've seen), there is no "Hard" bottom so the backpack does not stand upright then set on a desk or the ground.

5 stars would be 6 if there were more, providing protection for the contents, comfortable to wear and FAST shipping. I would recommend this backpack to anyone who is in the market for one.

I needed a bag for Camping with the scouts. I wanted to be able to put everything I needed... Tent, sleeping back, clothes, etc in 1 bag that I could put on my back, but my day pack on backwards and I was ready to hike in to the site. Most of these hikes are not going to be very far, but they are going to be through the woods and over small paths and I would rather make 1 trip instead of multiple. The bag did the job. It is a very sturdy bag. The straps are not very padded but the seem sturdy enough to make the trips in and out of the woods and are very adjustable. The groumets and eye hook are also very sturdy. I had it OVERSTUFFED for the first trip, and it was tossed around and handled it quite well. The "Very Good" seemed to mean they were in very good shape. The previous owner had labeled them, but for the most part they were almost like new. I ordered 2 bags and 1 of them had some offensive language on it, but with a sharpie and some creativity no one will know. A very good bag that should last for many years and many trips.

Padded Home Care Bag

Bag is roomy, but a little, small able to get the essentials in there so that I can see my home health pt, in giving it 4 stars because the shoulder pad is ripping otherwise the rest of the bag is well made.

First of all, this is a great bag. It could be used for so many functions. I am a nurse practitioner and have to bring a lot of books, materials and equipment to work. This is a great bag for that -big pocket dividers and nice strap. Doesn't hurt or dig into my shoulder. I filled it up all the way.

The only thing I would ask is to make one bigger! But for now, it works!

The Ogio Rally backpack exceeded my expectations. I couldn't be happier with it!

The padding and snug fit of the laptop compartment gives my laptop all the support it needs, without me having to worry about it getting banged around. Unlike other bags for laptops, this compartment is only for the storing of the laptop and is separated from the rest of the bag. No need to worry about struggling to get it in or out due to other bits and bobs getting in the way! The laptop is sitting on your back, so you can always be sure of a flat comfortable surface with no parts jabbing you in your spine.

The second compartment can fit a variety of items, such as chords, small cameras, phones, iPods, headphones, etc. The special padded and snug slot for iPads is very useful, even if you don't have one! I can fit my small Wacom Bamboo tablet in there easily. I haven't got another case for it, so this pouch was a life saver! I'm confident that my tablet wont come under any damage at all with that level of support. Of course, this section of the bag can fit a range of things in the middle books, materials, jackets, purses, wallets.. Anything! There isn't much room in there, but layering your items can overcome that, and you dont have to worry about your items in the pouches along the sides being affected.

The next section of the bag is smaller and can only fit a few items in. You're supposed to use it for pens, pencils (and everything else starting with 'P' the label says) but again, chords and other tid bits can fit in there easily. I use the larger space to put my laptop charging chords in. The only problem with this section is that the zip is right next to the zip of the previous section, so I often open the wrong section by accident. It isn't that much of a big deal though.

The last section is extremely small, and so you can only fit smaller items in there. Your wallet and phone can easily fit there, but it's really up to you to decide what things to put in there with that little space.

Along with these disconnected sections are two side zips (small and unable to place a drink bottle into) and a phone pocket on one of the straps. For my use, the side pockets are practically useless, but you could easily fit chords or cameras etc in them. I didn't think my brick of a phone would fit in the designated phone pocket, but the stretchy material easily squeezed it in a held it securely!

After filling your Ogio Rally backpack with all this stuff, you think it would feel heavy on your back right? Surprisingly, it doesn't! The straps are sturdy, well balanced and nicely padded. They're so supportive, with the padding on the back of the bag, that the bag feels practically weightless whilst being worn! I could wear it all day with all of my belongings in it and I would hardly get tired or sore. It feels a little bulky I do admit, but it's so comfortable to wear, and it ends up being quite slim no need to worry about accidentally smashing someone with a bulky backpack! Everything feels so condensed, and yet packed so perfectly.

I couldn't be happier with my purchase, and I would recommend this bag to anyone looking to house their laptop and other devices whilst being able to move around freely whilst out and about the town. Excellent product!

Targus A7 Messenger Case Designed to Protect 16-Inch Widescreen Laptops TSM09904US - Green

Great bag so far! I've had it for a week, and wanted to leave a review since there are so few now.

1. This bag is a good general purpose bag. It has a handle and a strap that can be hidden but not removed, and many pockets designed to be able to hold a variety of objects.

2. I don't know how sturdy it is. It seems sturdy after loading it up a few times within the past few weeks.

3. It's bulky. This isn't a very slim case, espescially after adding accessories!

4. Pockets. The closest pocket to the wearer is not padded on the outside (so make sure that whatever you put there wont be too uncomfy) and is somewhat large. Velcro at the top middle holds it shut, so it's uncovered. It's good for holding folders, notebooks, or books and I have a small ubrella there sometimes. The velcro can't work with a notebook or textbook in the way.

The flap has a convenient zipper pocket on front. It doesn't have padding on the outside either. I just used it to put menus in from a restaurant while I was there.

The velcro on the flap picks up small fibers from the face of the bag the velcro's reach is too wide if the flap pocket isn't stuffed!

Now for under the flap.

The padding for the laptop part is nice! Good padding! Maybe 1/2 inch of whatever on both sides. Whatever it is is nice, you can tell. And nothing in there will scratch. The zipper is sort of blocked by a thin lin of padding, but not all the way. The zipper is smooth anyway, the padding is there, and the laptop might be below it when the bag is upright. Tishe bottom of this pocket is slightly padded.

The next pocket out has the padding from the laptop pocket on that side; and thin, dense padding on the other side. In it there are two mesh pockets with elastic at the top that are against the laptop side. They're the same size and somewhat deep. GREAT for dvd dvd movies (in there plastic cases) if you just want a few per pocket. I have two cases in one pocket and the laptop charger in the other and there's still more room. Beyond that, there's a loop above the pockets for I-don't-know-what and the cavity itself is as big as the laptop pocket. The bottom of this pocket is slightly padded. The side away from the laptop has thin but nice padding and there's a few more pockets and the flap to get through anyway.

The next pocket opens up a little. It has a thin material zipper pocket within (I use it for a mini-speaker charger) and also the cell phone (or mini-speaker) pocket, business card (or jump drive) pocket, and little bands to hold onto pens and pencils. They all work well. The business card one is a good size for business cards in a way. Good dimensions, but the pocket is flat to the bag so I don't know how many it would fit well at a time. But I don't know how many you would need. Also, the business card pocket isn't padded, so having other things in that pocket might bend a card or something. They shouldn't get scratched though, and a stack of cards won't bend. I really use it for two jumpdrives anyway.

Next pocket is soft on the inside. Decent size and won't scratch, but not padded at all. So if you feel you have a durable item that's sensitive to scratching.. I have a memory card in there, but it doesn't need to be in there.

The next pocket is just one more for storage. No padding here, but it's zippered and covered by the flap. It can still fit a small book (which would double up as protection!).

5. There's an adjustable shoulder strap of good length and a padded handle. The shoulder strap can be folded underneath the main flap to be mostly unseen. It can also be wrapped around the bottom of the bag, but not extremely close (it hangs a little, but the main flap's clips can hold the strap). The padding on the strap is nice, but that just spreads out the pressure and takes away the rough edge the weight doesn't go away. I think it's comfortable on one shoulder, but I wear it over my chest with the strap long.

6. More. If the zippers aren't under the flap, they might jingle when you walk! The flap straps might audibly bang against the bag as well. Having them under the strap prevents this.

The velcro can be loud.. It's not subtle in a classroom. Pulling it quick is more subtle. You could attatch one side of velcro over the velcro on the bage to stop the bag's velcros from sticking. It would be clean, and the velcro could be used later it's handy normally it secures the flap well and quickly.

The flap itself easily folds behind the bag, and can be clipped to the straps that way if you want.

You can stand it up, but it could get knocked over or fall over depending on the contents. It's better to lean it against something or set it flat.

There is one secret pocket you'll find if you look craftily for it. It's small, though.

It's water resistant. Not water proof.

You can lay the messenger bag on your lap with the flat part up to use as a stand! But it's not too grippy and might be wobbly depending on what's in there, so maybe not the best idea. It could strain the laptop cooling fan, too, depending on where air comes in... But it's comfier! Just an idea.. I'm not liable for anything!

7. Overall, nice!! I like the green! It's my favorite color! I like the multiple color options. Note the price change, though.

Update, 4/17/2012:

Still very good! No problems with stability except for the issue (I think I mentioned) where velcro pulls up some fibers on the front of the bag, beneath the flap. I've overloaded it, too. Shoving as much as I can. The insides haven't got scratched up and the outside looks fine too! The back flap has been holding notebooks. I've used the handle too, but not as much. No signs of wear there, either! :)

Update, 8/19/2012:

Still amazing! I've continually loaded the bag and have used the handle a lot! No signs of wear except for what the velcro pulls up! But that hasn't been bothersome, and I see no stability issue there. I think the back flap might have stretched a little from putting stuff in there, but I'm really not sure. Again, no signs up stability issues, despite heavy use (weighty and frequent). I should add, for the sake of those who are particular, that the side of the straps that loops through a plastic piece will wrinkle, and then the plastic piece will be diagonal. It's not the most aesthetically appealing, maybe.

Product is well madeevenly stitched, nice material, well padded. Adequate room for HP dv6t 15.6" screen laptop, battery, battery charger / power supply, auxiliary trackball mouse, and external numeric keypad. It arrived promptly after ordering.
