Monsoon Sling Backpack Color: Red

I recieved my pack in a timely manner and was surprised by the generous size not usually seen in a sling especially of this price. Have not put it through the paces yet but it does appear sturdy and functional.. Good overall design and fit. I would say all in all I did well in my choice. A good value for under $20 incl. s&h. I'm pleased.

The areas for the ipad and notebook are well protected. I bought this to replace my Tumi hand carry laptop bag it is very nice for the plane. The sunglasses pocket could be bigger and is hard to get them in and out of.

I haven't used my backpack yet but I did make sure, upon receiving it, that it will accommodate my HP Pavilion G7. It seems like a well-made pack with several cushioned pockets for phones, tablets, mp3s, etc. I look forward to using it this fall!

Very happy with it. The only detraction is the lack of internal pickets for easy access to cables, power supplies, etc. I needed to use a separate soft caddy for those items, but the pack was more than roomy enough to accommodate it.

I have come to love Ogio bags after getting one on sale and one for my wife. I have the Flux bag and just wanted more padding in the main compartment and space to put my computer stuff and books. The flux has great shoulder straps with that strap across your neck so you carry it and don't really notice it there unlike most bags with two plain straps you can feel the bag hanging and tugging on your back...

Pros:

Bag has firm back padding and nice neck and shoulder straps. It feels like the Flux improved. When you fill it up and tighten the straps you don't feel this bag on your bag, great for traveling or students.

I love the quality and color of the bag, nice pockets for your stuff and nice padding materials in all areas of the bag.

Fits my 15.4 inch Dell Laptop with the num pad on the keyboard, says fits a 17 inch haven't tried but this is a longer 15 inch laptop so it might...

Cons:

If I have to give one, compared to the Flux the more compartments take a little space away from the pocket for your cables and the main compartment but you get much better protection and padding for what the bag is carrying so it's a win loose not a complaint...

It was definitely better than I expected! I was very pleasantly surprised! I ordered a brown color bag but was sent purple. Brown straps and a purple color bag is not a good color combination. I gave this two stars because I liked the silky feel. This bag needs to be improved . If the straps were black it would go with any color. The smell gave me a headache . I cant bring this bag around anyone the smell is sickening and will affect other people who go near it. I am dissatisfied with this purchase .

Finally, a backpack handbag that holds all my stuff and looks good doing it. I haven't had it long but I've already gotten a lot of compliments. I'm really hard on my bags and it still looks like new.

What I really liked: Quality leather and solid construction. This is a beautiful bag. I bought it in black leather. It's so nice and smooth and the style is very classy for a backpack. Even when it's packed full, it doesn't look like it.

The leather straps are very comfortable and surprizingly strong. I don't have to worry about them breaking. About the length of the straps, I'm not that tall but I do have longer torso and broader shoulders, so I have them buckled on the last hole. But if you are shorter or have narrower shoulders, or a smaller body frame, you should be able to adjust them to make them shorter without having an excessive amount of extra strap hanging down.

The two side u-zip pockets, which were billed as being for water bottle or umbrella actually were more perfect for holding my regular glasses and sunglasses hard cases. My hydration bottle is 24oz and too big anyway, so I just clip it to the carry loop at the top.

The middle front u-shaped zip section has a slot that can hold both my personal Droid 4 cell phone and my iPhone for work. There's also room for my earbud case and slots for business cards. I actually like the location of the 2 pen loops on the top of the zip flap. It keeps them easily accessible and even fits my larger pens.

The lower front zip pocket is a lot tighter but it's wide enough to hold a lot of small incidentals like lip balm, gum, barrettes, work badge.

The main compartment has a u-shaped zip with double zipper, which is much more convenient than a single zip. Inside has a padded laptop section that can hold not only my 14" ultrabook or iPad and/or Nook tablet. It's even wide enough to hold both a laptop and a regular size notebook.or magazines. The rest of the main compartment is roomy enough to hold my makeup case, large wallet and coupon organizer with room for other things like snacks, mail or small notebook.

It is a little on the heavy side, but the quality is worth it. And because it's a backpack, the weight is more easy to carry than a shoulder or hand bag. I use it as my every day handbag.

This backpack is almost perfect. The interior lining is high quality, but it's black. It's much easier to find things in a large bag with a lighter color lining like silver or yellow. The carry loop is nice and bigger than on most bags, but I almost wish it was even longer so I could loop it over my suitcase carry handle in order to stack my bags when traveling. And last but not least, I would have liked a hidden zipper pocket on the back for securing valuable or sensitive items like passport or jewelry or even slip wallet. Even so, this bag meets or exceeds most of my needs. I'm really glad I bought it and I would highly recommend it to anyone who prefers a backpack bag to a handbag.

For style: I just liked the unique-ness of the look, versus the standard black.

For substance: Bought for toting my laptop on the planes that make you bag check at the gate. I keep my laptop in this case to haul around the airport, and pop it out just before giving my bag so that my laptop is protected in flight without carting a big laptop case. Adequate protection.

Actually don't like the 'hidden' handles. It's a little awkward because the zipper has to remain open on both sides of the handles in order to be able to have them out.

I loved this bag, but was looking for a canvas/leather backpack for school. I foolishly didn't look for dimensions for this bag before I ordered it. When it arrived, I loved how it looked-but it was much, much too small. I also question how long it would last before a strap broke off.

I carry a MacBook Pro 15" in it, fits well, and the shoulder strap makes it very comfortable to carry even though the laptop itself is heavy. The bag itself looks very sleek.

Size-wise, think of it as a fitted skinny quality laptop sleeve case with handles and a shoulder strap. It can't carry much more than a laptop, the power cord, and a 20-page letter-size document. There are 2 side pockets, but too small to put a Calculus textbook unless no laptop in there. One of the side pockets also includes a slot for a smart phone (4.5 inch or smaller). As another review said, it does not have lots of small pockets to organize small stuffs, such as cosmetics, a wallet, keys and you name it.

The only thing I am not sure is the "decorated tag with mirror" from the product description. I can't find this mirror in the package. If it's an Anna Sui decorated tag with mirror, I sure want it!

Overall, it's a lovely fitted lightweight quality laptop bag for everyday use, but it can't carry lots of documents.

This is a BEAUTIFUL case for my 17.3 laptop. I am actually glad that it was a little bigger so that all of my stuff could fit inside. The scenery is really kewl; I was looking for something without the typical loud colors, something more subdued...this was my answer! I was looking for a simple case that coule carry my 17" laptop, a mouse and the power cord. Most cases have far too many compartments and are too bulky. This one SEEMED to be the answer. But not quite. It has no handle and no specific place for the power cord or mouse. It does protest the laptop, but I am still looking for one similar but with handles that si the correct size for a 17" computer. It seems as though there are many for 10", 15" and 19" but very few for 17" machines.

I spent hours looking for a convertible carry-on bag. This one goes from rolling bag to backpack pretty effortlessly. It was great for rolling from the airport to whipping over my shoulder at metro stations with stairs only. It holds a ton of stuff, and it's really sturdy.

The only problem that arose during my many travels is that while it actually IS carry-on sized, I was stopped at several different airports because it looks bigger/heavier than it actually is. I got into a tiny tiff with a flight attendant until I heaved it into the overhead cabinet and closed the bin with ease, as she was about to make me check it until I asked to prove to her that it actually fits. And this happened two more times. I've thought about carrying a tape measure with me to prove to flight attendants that this is a carry-on bag.

Well-made and very practical for people who want to carry on to flights. It can be a backpack, a suitcase you pull, or a bag you carry. Lots of space inside for packing.

This bag tends to be too thick for some overhead luggage compartments on airplanes, especially if it is in its expanded mode. This applies in particular to domestic flights in Brazil where overhead compartments are narrow, Other than that, the length and width are ok. Compartments on International flights however are usually more generous and I found no problem. Build-wise, I discovered that after one international trip, the fabric had a rip on one seam. So I am not sure that this bag would stand up to rough treatment. For these reasons, I can only give this bag 2 stars and I can't recommend it.

I bought this suitcase as a replacement for my usual carry-on that broke. I travel fairly frequently, so I wanted something very functional and rugged. This suitcase is just that. There are many compartments, the wheels and pull-out aluminum handle are very solid. With this bag, you can pull, carry as a duffle bag, or wear it as a backpack. It's great. The only unfortunate thing I encountered was that the little metal logo on the front broke off fairly quickly; no biggie though. Be warned, while this bag does just perfectly fit in the smallest of overhead bins on planes, the ticketing agent at the gate may ask you to shove the bag in their little size-checker; it's just a pain if you're trying to quickly board the plane. It may be a tight fit though if you use the expansion portion.

I bought this backpack for my boyfriend who would be living on campus when he went away to school and needed something reliable that could hold a lot. When I first received it, I was really, really, really surprised because it looked so tiny.

I tried to see how many books I could fit in there before returning it and managed to fit five of my sister's Nursing books and one of my smaller Psychology books...now for anyone who does not know nursing books, they are HUGE some of the biggest textbooks you are going to find. All the books fit comfortably, the bag closed, and I could still walk around without the straps not digging in or hurting because they're padded.

Now my boyfriend has a small frame for a guy (5'5-5'6; ~120 lbs), so it'll still look fine on him but I think guys with bigger body frames will have a harder time pulling this off and probably shouldn't try. And I definitely would not recommend this for anyone who plans on carrying a laptop AND books around.

I don't think you can beat the price for the Swiss Gear name and what a good reputation it has. Plus, it has side pockets so he can put his water bottle!

The backpack is very light and extremely comfortable. The only thing I don't like about it is that it does not have a separate laptop protective pocket.

This one looks good for people who are short and have a 13" laptop. But it does not have a laptop sleeve. I bought this for my cousin and I was surprised and disaapointed that it did'nt have a sleeve. For 10 bugs more you could get a bigger, tougher and one with a sleeve.

I bought this bag to take on our Caribbean cruise a couple of weeks ago. It did the job reasonably well. Everything seems to be constructed well, the seams did not seem like they were going to break when I stuffed it completely full, and I appreciated the number of pockets it had. There is only one negative in that the main compartment was not as large as I thought it would be. In the main compartment, I was able to fit two large beach towels, pair of flip flops, and a bottle of sunscreen. If only it were a bit bigger, or made of a stretchier material, it would be perfect.

For a week I've been using my new slingback. Little small than a standard backpack. Before I purchase this item, I reviewed my fellow consumers comments who purchased this. I must agreed with them, this is a great back for a day trip or going to places like Disneyland, Knott's Berry-farm or Magic Mountain. I recommend this slingback for whatever use you have in mind.

My favorite thing about this bag is that it really retains a slim profile no matter what you put on it, which means no more whacking people in the face when you swivel around in a crowded area (yay!).

Another good aspect of this bag is that it has five different pockets in total. There's the two "big" ones in the front along with two small ones to hold your mp3 player and pencils. Finally there's the tiny one which is on the strap. Having these multiple pockets makes it easy to organize stuff.

For those worried about how the one strap thing works, you basically just sling it over your shoulder. The strap is actually detachable so you can attach it to the other side and sling it over whatever shoulder you're most comfortable with.

The trade-off for all this is that you really can't put too many things in there. All the different pockets are pretty small. I find that the pocket located on the strap is perfect for things like your keys and maybe a chapstick-it's the easiest to access since it's in the front-but that's all it can really fit. I use this for school so I put a stapler and pencils and erasers on the two smaller pockets in the front. In the two larger bags, I put my books/notebooks and my calculator/kindle. The water bottle holder can hold a typical 500ml plastic bottle or a thin stainless steel bottle. It'll be tough to get a fatter 1L water bottle in there. It's a tight squeeze but even after all this it still manages to retain that sexy slim profile.

If you're going to use this as a gym bag, it'll work perfectly because it can hold a towel and a change of clothes with relative ease. However, if you're going to use this for school, it might be a bit hard if you want to fit more than two medium sized textbooks in there. Quality wise it seems to be holding up strong after two months of heavy use.

I'm giving this product 4 stars because it's good quality, looks really slim, but suffers from a lack of space. When I bought this, it was at it's original price of around $18.00.

=UPDATE== 4/30/13

So it's been a little more than half a year of regular daily use with this bag (I've been using it as my main backpack), and it's still working perfectly. It's a bit dirtier now, but zippers are still functioning perfectly, the straps are fine, and nothing's broken, so +1 to the quality!
