Marmot Urban Hauler

I live in San Francisco, half way up a pretty steep hill (rated at 6.3% by the city's Public Works Department) and by choice do not own a car.

I am also close to 60 years old and though fit, have the usual age related problems.

I don't mind the walk so much as lugging bags up the hill. I would get bruises on my fingers from the bag straps. It's the same problem with canvas shopping bags.

For those who don't know, San Francisco does not allow those plastic shopping bags and so you have the additional problem of paper bags breaking.

This product solves my problem. I can carry 6 to 7 bags of groceries and since you're carrying the weight distributed across your shoulders and back this can be quite a heavy load.

This is the first pack I have found that is not just an adapted outdoor pack. Someone at Marmot must live in a city because only a true city dweller can appreciate this pack.

The only fault I can find so far is the straps aren't quite padded enough and actually I'm here today to look for pads that'll fit.

The top opening though secure can be difficult to get used to and always confounds the baggers.

It does wash out and dry easily and the pockets with the rubber gaskets lining the opening are a nice touch and really useful.

All in all, this is another quality product from Marmot and lives up to the name emblazoned across the face of this pack.

I started college so I got this backpack to deal with all my books, food, towel, gym clothes, sketchbook and supplies, some bicycle gear too. its huge. you carry a toddler in this pack if you wanted to. I got the Large, don't really carry a baby in it though. its really not meant for that.

I ordered the large with some misgivings, as I read a review that said it was huge. It's not huge; it's just right. I'm a teacher and use it to transport clothes, water bottles and various items for the classroom that I wouldn't put in my briefcase. I love the top-loading aspect of it, and the seams all seem sturdy and tightly sealed. It's not hugely padded in the straps, so I can see problems if you were carrying it on your back for long distances, but from car to office and back is ideal. The front zip pocket is huge and I put three one liter Siggstyle water bottles in it then zip it closed. They fit with room to spar. It's large enough to fit shoes (probably its design purpose). There's only one other pocket on the bag and that's a decent-sized interior pocket at the top that zips closed (no flimsy, small Velcro close). My wife, who can't seem to get enough pockets on her bags, would want more. I love the simplicity and think it's perfect as is.

I live in Seattle and we have a ban on plastic bags here. I tend to forget carrying bags to do my shopping so having a backpack style grocery bag is ideal for here and for myself. The only reason i did not give it 5 stars is that the shoulder straps need to be wider.

I bought this backpack for school and upon receipt realized that, yes, it is sturdy and well built for carrying a leptop, but not large enough to carry any books with the laptop. I like the bag overall and have resorted to carrying my books in my arms instead of ina bag. If you don't have a need to carry around much else than your laptop, a folder, and a notebook, this bag is perfect. If you need to carry your books around keep searching.

It's a great product. Sturdy and sleek and the blue interior is wonderful. However, I just wish there was more space. Once you put your laptop in, it becomes tight fitting and you can't really put much else in the larger portion of the bag. The front pocket has little space also. But overall, I'd recommend it i you just need your laptop and a few files.

Pacsafe Luggage Metrosafe 300 Gii Laptop Bag

This is in no way a laptop bag. it is more for notebooks and IPads. Also, if it is indeed a laptop bag, amazon or the seller must indicate what the dimensions of the laptop that would fit in this bag would be. In this case, netbook sized laptops or just simply put, netbooks and ipads.

i am returning this item since my 15" laptop wont fit.

I'm a huge fan of Pacsafe products. I've bought several bags in the last few years, my favorite still being the Metrosafe 200, a bag almost identical to the this one, the Metrosafe 300, except that it is smaller and cannot support a laptop. I've been carrying the Metrosafe 300 Gii around for several months. Everything about this bag is fantastic and meets the high quality that one would expect from a Pacsafe product. However, I feel that the zippers go down too far on the sides of the bag. When the zippers are down, the opening on the bag is very tall and if the bag is full, it can be very cumbersome to get the zippers all the way to one side together in order to snap them into the security latch. In fact, it takes two hands to do it. As a result of this, I find myself not securing the zippers to the security latch. Rather, I leave the zippers on top of the bag so that I can get easy access. Of course, this creates a security problem. Easy access for you also means easy access for pick-pockets.

I actually lost my camera case due to this issue. I was on a hike, opened my bag to pull out my camera, took it out of the case, put the case back into my bag and since one hand was holding my camera, I didn't secure the zippers to the latch. At the end of my hike, I realized that because I hadn't zipped up the bag all the way, my camera case, sitting on top, had fallen out. I doubled back, but never did find it. For this reason, I will not be taking this bag overseas. I wish it didn't have this problem, because otherwise, it is perfect.

The smaller version of this bag (Metrosafe 200) does not have this problem. I've carried it to Europe twice and have always been able to zip it up and latch it securely with one hand while holding my belonging in the other. This year, I may take the Citysafe 200 Gii travel handbag instead of the Metrosafe 200 because I need something just a little bit bigger than the tried and true Metrosafe 200.

I have owned this bag for three months now, it's primary use will be for our big OE, which we will be undertaking in July, this bag is everything thing I could want, as a over the shoulder bag, it sits perfect on the hip, the pockets are awesome, this is what I currently put in it, iPad with keypad, 750ml wide mouth drink bottle which fits in the side pouch snuggly, opposite end a small umbrella fits perfect, I also own the tri fold wallet with the chain secures nicely in the bag, there is plenty of room for a rain coat or soft shell jacket, however with all these items and the water bottle full it gets on the heavy side. It's a shame they have changed the model to not include the back pack as i own the backpack version, However still a brilliant item.

Everything I have purchased from Pacsafe is top quality. I purchased this bag to transport my 11" Macbook Air when I travel to Europe. First I am okay with premium bags at premium prices. I have two other crumpler bags (horseman that I have had for 5 plus years and still is great and a 6 million dollar home). I have or have had Chrome and Timbuk2 bags as well.

This Local Identity is expensive, even by my tastes.

It is just not that great of a bad IMHO. My intent was to use it as my daily bag commute via car or bike to work with my laptop and various items. It just fails at this. The backpack sleeve is nice and that part works great. Outside of that, there is essentially one other pocket a big one that can be accessed from inside the top, or either side. Sounds like that might be a good thing. It is not. From the inside there is some pocket thing I cannot figure out. There is like 3 zippers and not all connect to another side of a zipper. There is this black bag part (mind you this is not the camera insert thing that comes out) that sort of wants to go down and hold stuff, but kind of wants to flip itself inverted and dump whatever it is you put in there.

The shoulder straps are fairly comfy, though not as nice as on a Chrome Brand backpack. There is approximately 1 mile of extra strap on each side. More than any human who would wear a backpack would ever want or need.

The cross strap (that goes across your chest) is nice in that it can be adjusted up and down but even at the lowest point is is too high for my liking.

I have no idea how long the black rubbery material will last. It feels like it could have issues after not all that long. Just a guess though. My 5 year old Crumpler messenger bag is one of the most durable things I have ever owned, so I tend to want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The camera insert is okay. I have micro 4/3 gear, which is smaller and it fits okay. But the bag is small.

Littlelife Animal Toddler Daypack

It's a great little day bag! My son loves cows so he loved the print and the hood. It holds a change of clothes perfectly and a small toy or two! Great for grabbing and going! However, $40 is WAAAY too much to spend!!!!!!

I got the ladybug backpack for my petite, nearly 2 year old and it is just the right fit BUT with that said it doesn't hold more than a sippy cup, a snack and a pair of socks. Even though I was thrown off guard by it's size it didn't bother me too much just because it is so cute and she feels like a big girl wearing it. The leash is ridiculously short, so I ended up using my dog's leash on the bag in heavily populated area's where a speedy child can wander offlike the Exploratorium, the airport and the Academy of Arts. Based on the size of the pack it explains the size of the leash.

This bag is not practical for nursery school but better suited for a small lunch on the go or an outing in a heavily populated area.

Although this pack was much smaller than anticipated I have no regrets about purchasing it. I did end up buying another bag that is more practical but we do use both.

The only thing that disappointed me about this bag was the material it is made out of (nylon) looked more like leather in the photo. However, my son loves his big boy back pack and I can fit a pack of wipes and two diapers in here along with a teether and a snack (albeit snugly). I also like the harness (aka leash) that comes with it and connects to the bag. The price is a bit steep but I am not disappointed in the quality and cuteness.

I purchased the turtle style bag from the same company for my 3 1/2 year old son for our trip to Disneyland. He picked it out because he likes turtles and enjoyed wearing it, including the turtle cap. It was awesome for a very very short while. However, two hours into our adventure, one strap came unnattached from the weak stitching at the bottom of the bag and he fell on the cement. I had no other option but to keep it on him, because I was afraid of him getting lost at the crowded park, but was forced to take it off when it started leaving a rash on his shoulder from being off center. Then I carried it around awkwardly for the rest of the day (not even on my back because obviously it wouldn't fit), because it had his pull-ups and some wipes in it, and by nighttime the other strap had broken off in the same place. It would have been perfect if those bottom straps were designed better or sewn in more securely. Don't buy this product or any of the other harnesses from the same company. I just hope that I can get my money back.

I ordered this Molle Assault pack with some trepidation. Used? Is that a good idea, I thought? But, the price was reasonable so I went for it. It took a few extra days getting here than originally projected but, it was very much worth the wait. Wow.. This is an EXCEPTIONALLY well made pack. Every strap, every zipper, every buckle is like new.. It has zero tears, stains or missing pieces. It's obvious the company went out of their way to clean and reorganize every inch before shipping it to me. In and out, this is an excellent piece of equipment that quite honestly is worth 2 or 3 times what I paid for it. I couldn't be more pleased and I can only hope that everything I order in the future turns out to be as great as this pack.

Incredibly solid and versatile. This backpack will take an incredible beating.

Lots of space and lots of room for expansion.

Mine was slightly used but well cleaned out and has plenty of life left.

I have no complaints and will buy another one if I need another rugged backpack.

Some advice:

There are long straps inside a thin compartment along with the back plate and cushion.

The long straps are for tying down your bedroll.

The back plate makes the bag a lot more comfortable as it ads a slight cushion and protects you from pointy things.

The material used for this backpack is very cheap, and the zipper broke one day after we received it. My second-grader picked this for his back-to-school backpack. You may be thinking that he was perhaps a bit too rough with the zipper, but I can assure you this was not the case. I was talking to him as he was loading his new backpack up with school supplies. The zipper appeared to be stuck as he went to close it, he gave a little tug, and that was the end of that. I suggest spending a little more cash on a better quality Phineas & Ferb backpack, if your child is a fan of the show, like mine. It'll be worth it in the long run.

I bought this back pack for my son going into first grade next month, so he hasn't used but he loves and can't wait to wear it! Good deal for what I paid and no cheap quality! :)

Got this backpack from work as a new hire to stuff a big laptop. It looks very solid.

Have been using Maxxum Swiss Gear by Wenger Notebook Backpack so far.

Pros:

Looks high quality

Light weight compared to the similar backpacks of the quality and size

Cons:

Looks are not stylish/pretty. It can be better.

Too big.

I don't carry a backpack all the time, but if I'm headed to a location where a lot of walking will be necessary I've found that a good backpack is the best option, and this one fits the need well. It has solid construction, the straps are VERY comfortable and function just fine when using either one or both straps. Also, the airport security "ScanFast" capability is ALWAYS fantastic.

The only con is that there really isn't a "mid-size" pocket. There are huge, deep pockets, and a couple small pockets on the front, but with the exception of the one pocket designed to hold pens, bus cards, and other small accessories all other pockets are the entire size of the bag (very big and deep). They are all high quality with what have proven to be smooth and durable zippers, but I'm just not sure what to put in them.

The "giant pocket issue" cost the bag one star from me, but overall I have been VERY pleased and would highly recommend this backpack to anyone carrying a large 17" laptop.

Military Inspired Stylish Backpack Canvas Day Pack Khaki

This backpack arrived and I immediately noticed that the materials used are extremely poor quality. The straps and buckles are small and very cheap material. There was also a 2 inch tear in the strap on the back where it is sewn into the backpack!!! All of the stitching is coming right apart and it hasn't even been used once yet!!! I immediately contacted Amazon and have requested a full refund. DO NOT BUY THIS BACKPACK!! It is a BIG waste of money.

This bag lasted me about a year and a half. Made with pretty cheap materials, as mentioned in another review. Stitching began to come apart quickly, but was still fully functional. After a year and a half of use, one of the straps completely tore-pretty unfixable at this point. Served me well, though, loved all the pockets-just don't buy this bag if you expect it to last very long.

Kemyer Lightweight 17" Laptop Computer Rolling Backpack - Black

This bag looks good and in all fairness; I travel frequently. So...this bag is not for business travel IMHO. Here's why: A hole ripped in the bag before my first trip while putting items in the front pocket, the wheels wear excessively after a few trips through the terminal, the corners look like they are ripped to shreds just from light and normal curb bumps, the side pockets are tearing from putting light things in them like the water it is supposed to be for and candy bars. I'm truly disappointed and YES...you do pay for what you get. Maybe this could work for a child and light books, but not an adult travel rolling bag. Onto purchasing a sturdy roller bag/backpack.

I purchased this case against my better judgement, and after reading Antonio Kilpatrick's review. Mr. Kilpatrick is right on the money with his review. Although I didn't keep the case long enough to find out firsthand, I will say the fabric is very thin and seems as if it will tear with very little effort and light use. I did use the case one day to roll from the parking lot into my office and back. After just one day's use rolling through the parking lot, the wheels showed very noticeable signs of wear and tear. I returned the case based on my initial impressions of thin fabric and subpar wheels. I had to pay return shipping because being concerned with the quality of the case is not grounds for a valid at-fault return with Amazon. That is disapointing.

This thing fits my enormous Dell laptop and still has plenty of room for a night's change of clothes and accoutrement. It certainly shows its "price-point" with loose threads, ragged edges inside and thin fabric, but you're getting a seriously useful bag for an insanely low price. If you're looking for Tumi or Hartmann, pass on by. On the other hand, you could buy a dozen of these for the price of the high end bags.

This is a magnificent bag, a great piece of craftsmanship that I get comments on all the time. The stiching, leather & lining are all top grade.

I searched long and hard for a bag of this style. Everything else of the quality I wanted was 2-3 times the price. Leyden & Sons have made a bag that I will be wearing for many years to come.

This bag is excellent for many reasons. However, I will state them concisely, in no particular order. First, it looks nice. Second, it has just the right amount of space. Third, it is versatile.

I ordered this bag for traveling with an 11" MacBook Air and the contents of my purse. Happily it arrived before a short trip so I could give it a test run before a longer vacation where I will likely want to have the Mac with me at least some of the time. It replaced a large and rather ratty backpack, and it's a gigantic step up. The Mac fits snugly and perfectly in the bag, leaving room for cell phone, wallet and 2 smallish zip bags with cosmetic stuff and other gadgetry. Side zip pocket perfect for ID, passport, boarding pass whatever. Glasses pouch is a nice touch, eliminating the need for a separate glasses case.

The leather is dark, heavy, and matte. It is understated and beautiful. I like the fact that the strap is a leather-webbing combination, as it manages to be lighter, more flexible and still strong all at the same time. I'm not a tall person (5'4" when I elongate as much as possible) and it's not unduly large for me to carry as a messenger bag style. I believe that this will join the pantheon of perfect-for-the-task bags in my collection!

ps. It also is the perfect size to slide into the first class sliding overhead bin on a Canadair Regional Jet 700. That is one tiny bin that would never accept a briefcase or regular laptop bag. The Mailboy slid in there perfectly!

I purchased this bag a few months ago after reading the reviews here on Amazon. I was in the market for a small messenger bag that would fit magazines and a couple of books while maintaining a minimalist design. I have received countless compliments on the bag. It is simply beautiful and the craftsmanship is top-notch. I was looking for a bag made in the USA from quality materials and this is by far one of the best available. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a small flaw in the stitching on the corner of the bag and the owner of the company was quick to respond to my email. He said that I could bring the bag to a local leather or shoe shop and have it repaired and he would reimburse me. I haven't yet gone because I've been quite busy, but the promptness of the owner's response impressed me. Besides the small stitching issue, I feel the bag is perfect for my needs. Now that the iPad mini 2 is going to be released in the near future, I am even more excited as this bag will easily fit it and a full-sized travel Bluetooth keyboard that will eliminate the need to bring my 15" MacBook Pro around with me everywhere. The North Face Men's Recon

I did a lot of research on packs before purchasing this one. The North Face is a great brand, and I have been impressed with the quality of their gear in the past. I purchased this pack primarily to use for school, where I must carry several textbooks and my 15" ultrabook computer. It says in the description that the laptop sleeve fits a 15" laptop, and I figured since mine is that size but thinner, it should be fine. Unfortunately it did not fit, the bag would not quite zip up over the top. The laptop sleeve doesn't sit right on the ground, but starts about 1.5" above the floor of the pack. Then there is about another 1.5" of foam forming the bottom of the sleeve. While this is a solid design and great padding, it makes a 15" laptop stick out the top of the bag. I image that a 14" laptop would be tight but workable, I think with a 13" you would have plenty of room. Other than this the bag was great, loved the color and it seemed well made and comfortable.

North Face can't go wrong with this! Excellent for hiking or just going to school! High recommended and great for carrying a laptop.

This is a great backpack that really fit what I was looking for. The straps are pretty comfortable, and the capacity is ok. I can fit my macbook pro, and maybe 3 2" Binders in the main compartment. The handle located at the top, between straps is strangely small and thin, I'm worried it's going to rip. I expected a thick and padded handle, this is almost hard to hold onto. There are also some extremely unnecessary straps that will dangle maybe a foot below the bottom while wearing, I have since stuffed them into a pocket so they won't trip me or look stupid. Other than those oddities, the backpack does its job, and I'm pleased.

This backpack is pretty good. The quality of it in my opinion is better than those of other brands. The back padding is a hard cover thing unlike other backpack where the padding isnt upright.

The straps are a bit wider than normal because it is built with the suspension straps and made for comfort while hiking or other vigorous activities. So if you don't like that feeling of your whole back being covered, you may not like this. But I am also a petite person, so it may not matter that much for you. Other than that, I am quite pleased with this purchase and it has more features than I actually need, which I like."

Looks nice and convenient pockets and straps, but the one I purchased starting splitting at the top seam after just a couple of weeks. I use it to carry my 17" laptop, but apparently the pack is not designed for such weight. Spend a little more and get a better quality backpack.
