JanSport Wasabi Backpack (Navy Fade Away)

JanSport Wasabi BackpackWhat can I really say about this JanSport backpack?? Well, I LOVE IT!! JanSport is known for their quality. This backpack will hold ALOT of stuff! The shoulder straps are padded and very comfortable. All the zippers work well, and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Shipping was earlier than expected, like always!!

I am a college student and bought this after going through a backpack every few months. I have tried a lot of different name brands, this being the first Jansport. I LOVE it!! There are 3 different compartments. The large compartment has a lot of room. I also love the color scheme I picked out (gray and blue plaid). If I had a complant it would be the bag may be a little too big.

I priced this backpack every where. Amazon had the best price. Which was still a little more than I wanted to pay. It arrived within days. Its nice and big. I purchased it for my daugther who just started Middle School. She loves animal print and purple is her favotite color. She was very happy when she got it and we were able to fit all of her school supplies in it on locker move in day, which was a lot. I'm satisfied, i think it was money well spent.

My daughter loved this backpack. It has a lot of space inside. It's exactly how it looks. The color is very nice.

Want JanSport Wasabi Backpack (Navy Fade Away) Discount?

I ordered this backpack for my 1st grader. The quality seams to be very good & the zippers easy to pull for her. It is actually quite a bit bigger than I was expecting, its actually much bigger than she needs but would be great space/size for an older kid w/ more homework & a laptop. There are 5 total zippered pockets, the 3 on the front you can easily see from the picture & they are spacious. There is one small pocket on the very top by the handle that would be perfect for a wallet & keys or my 1st grader's crayons. Then there is the super large side pocket that would easily fit a big laptop or 3-4 stuffed animals. As a side note, this is the 6th Jansport I've purchased through out my life & I have yet to be disappointed (I even still have my one from high school & that was over 20 years ago, its still good to go from the seams to the zippers & I still use it occasionally for trips to the park).

beatrix Big Kid Pack Papar Owl Backpack

Big Kid Papar Backpacki wanted to buy a back pack for my daughter that was different then all the rest. at first i was hesitant about the price point, however, this bag has lasted through 1 school year and she's using it again this year which made it a great value for money. she loves this back pack and we want to buy her the luggage case for christmas. we will continue to be fans and customers of this great line!! thanks beatrix :)

My daughter loves the bold graphic animals on Beatrix backpacks and lunch boxes. She's in an owl phase now. The side pockets are convenient. The straps are sturdy. The only slight complaint I have is that the white has become discolored from all the use. (A surface cleaning might do the trick though.) I would definitely recommend.

Manhattan Portage Commuter Laptop Bag with 17- Inch Laptop Sleeve

Manhattan Portage Commuter Laptop Bag with 17- Inch Laptop Sleeve,BlackWorst experience I've ever had with any product. Put the bag on and the strap broke right at the seam. I only had a laptop in the bag. This bag should not even be on the market. Thankfully CUFFCRAZY refunded me on the horrible bag purchase. I wish someone would have posted a comment like this before I made the purchase to save myself this ordeal.

I got this bag because my old backpack couldn't hold my 17" laptop. While, this bag is bigger, I was very disappointed that the padded internal sleeve is too thin for my Alienware mx17. For the price of this bag, the sleeve should have been removable (e.g. velcro) and adjustable. As a result I had to store my laptop in the space beside the sleeve.

Also, for the average tech geek (with lots of plugs, earphones, adapters, mp3 players, cables, etc) this bag is probably not going to have enough compartments. There should have been a couple more compartments on the side and in the back, in my opinion.

Which is not to say this isn't a good bag. The extra straps are nice, and the snaps are pretty secure. It's lightweight for easy carrying, although it can be on the flimsy side, depending on your taste.

Personally, I wouldn't buy this bag again, as I prefer a heavier duty bag with a bit more padding, bigger sleeve (adjustable would be nice), and more gadget compartments. If you have a slimmer laptop, though, and you like traveling light, this'll probably do the job.

Buy Manhattan Portage Commuter Laptop Bag with 17- Inch Laptop Sleeve Now

I have been using my bag for 3 weeks now and so far so good. Pro's two main pockets with medium cushion for the computer, slot for notebook and a roomy pouch for cords, pens, lunch, water bottle, etc. I find that I can stuff this bag and then carry it on my back. Cons I mention that it's a little pricey because the top handle and strap are poor quality and given the simplicity of the design and features I would expect the price point to be ~$75. I'm fine with the purchase and I like the fact that it's not the same bag that everyone is carrying.

Briggs & Riley Brx Explore 22 Upright

Briggs & Riley Brx Explore 22 Upright,Slate,22x14x9 inchI conducted a lot of research before buying this bag. I needed something that would be the largest allowed to carry on a plane and also durable enough for the rugged places I have to travel to. This bag does the trick. It is by far, built better than any other carry on I've owned. It's very lightweight, yet sturdy and roomy. I love the pocket types and placements. There is no overkill, just what you need where you need it. The pictures do not show the upper lid pocket well, but what a great idea. It's constructed like a rectangular box, great for glasses or items you want relative protection around. The best part is that I use this to travel around war zones but can arrive at a 4 star hotel and still look classy. The 'no B.S.' warranty that Briggs and Riley has for their bags is a great relief as well.

I spent a lot of time reading reviews, speaking to friends and carefully evaluating sizes, brands and styles before picking this bag.

Size: I wanted a bag that fit in the overhead bin meeting std. US air carrier restrictions, and yet was as big as possible. This bag meets that requirement perfectly. I am able to fit my camera tripod (goes with me on most trips) and everything else I need for a 6 day trip. 5 STARS

Style: I had not initially thought of a bag that does not have stiff sides and a very rigid top. This was a concern at first, but I found the contents of the bag provides that structure that you expect from a bag like this. The advantage of the soft configuration is that you are more likely to fit this into a tight overhead bin as it bends/molds well. 5 STARS

Quality: The build quality is excellent. Wheels 5 STARS, handle 5 STARS, buckles, zips and fabric 5 STARS

Design: Almost perfect. The wide open main compartment with handle frame out side is excellent and I love the various outside compartments (slip magazines in the open one, laptop and manilla folders in the zip one and passport and liquids ziploc bag in the top one). The only negative I have with the bag is the main inside pouch. I am not sure what they were thinking (or not as the case may be) when they designed it. It has a single zip not double, so you cannot choose which way it opens and closes and it is the wrong way. Imagine you have your bag on the luggage rack at your hotel with lid open in a vertical position a very common occurrence. In this configuration, the zip opens at the bottom. Trying to put things in and close the zip before they fall out again is nigh on impossible. So Design gets a 4 STAR rating.

Buy Briggs & Riley Brx Explore 22 Upright Now

I originally purchased a Briggs and Riley BRX 19" carryon (see my review) but found it was too small for my travel needs and was able to exchange it for this bag. I have been very pleased with the carryon--the craftsmanship is superb, it is light yet rugged and is a well thought out bag with enough compartments and pockets to be useful, yet not gimmicky. I especially like the almost invisible expandable feature of the bag, giving an additional inch or so to the depth of the bag. The top and side handles make carrying the bag when not using it as a roller it very comfortable.

I am very impressed with the way the bag rolls over all sorts of floor and street surfaces, and find that the exterior handle makes for a perfectly flat compartment; it's easier to pack and avoid wrinkling clothes. The large compartment has very easy to use dividers to help clothes from wrinkling and the smaller front compartment has handy pockets, a zippered sub-compartment, and a padded section for a laptop or tablet computer. It also has an exterior expandable slash pocket; my only very minor complaint is that there is no zipper or other way to secure this pocket, making it possible to have items fall out when placing in overhead compartments.

For longer trips, this bag and my BRX backpack are the prefect complements, making it possible to travel for a week or more without being burdened by luggage. I am sold on the Briggs and Riley BRX line of luggage--including their no-nonsense lifetime warranty--and find that their combination of light weight, appearance, and ruggedness make them ideal travel companions. The Briggs and Riley BRX line strikes a good balance between slightly adventurous looking, light and flexible luggage and the more traditional bags that countless travelers use.

I've had this carry on for just over a year now, I bought it to replace an aging travelpro. I read quite a few reviews on various carry-on bags and settled on this based on the positive reviews, slightly different looking design to make it easier to spot at an airport vs. all the hippopanonymous black rectangles, and I liked the idea of the exterior luggage handle resulting in a flatter floor.

So after a year of use (~50k miles in the last year, combination of shorter and longer trips, both business and personal etc) I'm moderately happy with this bag:

Pros:

1) Build quality is overall very good. The one exception is the finish on the handle portion of the carry handle is wearing off prematurely, but overall it's holding up well. Fabric holds up well, zippers are pretty solid etc.

2) Generally well designed. Lots of little features that make sense, placement of pockets etc. One example is the little slot inside for your liquids is very easy to access quickly at security lines then replace after. An interior pouch for dirty laundry is also nice. Pockets on the exterior are the right size etc. The compression straps (someone posted in the comment of another review that they are not compression straps ... well they may well have other uses but they do compress the bag) cinche it down pretty tight when full, though I still had some problems fitting in overheads (more on that later).

3) Looks good and stands out from the pack while still looking reasonably sleek and professional. I want to be able to spot my bag on a luggage carousel (though I rarely check this), spot someone walking away with it etc. and the gray and slightly different shape help w/ this but at the same time doesn't look ridiculous.

Cons:

1) My biggest gripe is, it just isn't that space efficient in terms of interior space vs. the exterior dimensions of the bag. I think the exterior carry handle is probably the culprit here, along with the less "squared" shape of the bag. It just doesn't seem to fit as much clothing as my old travelpro, which would be ok but despite this I often have a harder time fitting the B&R into overhead bins depends on the plane, even on some larger planes like some 757s and 737s it either won't fit, or fits only with an inordinate amount of cramming (basically have to force it in so it compresses on itself as much as possible). Regional jets it needs to be checked at the jetway but that's a given for just about any bag of this general type. Also when packing clothes, the flatter floor as a result of the exterior carry handle doesn't seem to yield any practical benefits yes it's flatter but my clothes don't come out any less wrinkled or anything as a result.

2) Premature wearing on the carry handle is bothersome, though again otherwise the build quality and materials quality are pretty good and it's holding up well with this one exception.

Overall, a good product with good materials and build quality. However, if I could do it again after owning this for a year, I'd probably get something else something more rectangular with an interior carry handle (the more generic business traveller carryons you see everywhere) that seem to have less problems fitting into overhead bins while holding as much or more than this.

Want Briggs & Riley Brx Explore 22 Upright Discount?

Pros: Outside pockets provide stress-free organization, lightweight and compact size for most carry-on bins, flat internal area for packing, sturdy and durable construction, Lifetime warranty.

Cons: Expansion zipper/system doesn't work well and grab handle on bottom is awkward. Might not fit into all overhead carry-on bins.

If you don't want to carry your backpack or duffel bag on a business trip but need something a little more rough and tumble than the standard rolling suitcas the Briggs & Riley BRX line is a well designed bag that will meet both needs at the same time. It is like a chameleon that changes for the need and keeps your luggage inside the carry on compartment without skimping on the features of more full size suitcases.

The BRX 22" bag has made numerous trips with me to various cities and occasions worldwide. I have used it mainly for 3-5 day trips but also used it a few times for a ten day business trip in San Francisco and a week-long business/personal trip to Hong Kong. I would recommend the bag mainly for shorter trips as it is only carry-on size but it does expand and it larger than some 18" carry-ons. If you pack lightly and do not plan to purchase a lot in route it works well beyond the 3-5 days I generally use it for.

The length of the handle and the quality of the wheels were stand outs in my early tests with this suitcase compared to past suitcases. The handle was plenty long enough to not have the annoying leg bang that occurs with short handles and the wheels are a sturdy, dense rubber that always seems to roll well.

The expansion and bottom handle take some getting used to and are my biggest cons with this particular suitcase. The bottom handle can be hard to find when you are gripping the bag and at times feels flimsy because it is built into the outer fabric not a separate handle. Also, the expansion is a partial zip (not all the way around the top) and this makes the expansion feature smaller and less optimal than it should be. The size though as mentioned is adequate for a typical long weekend and up to a five day trip.

The bag is extremely durable and despite all the trips (including numerous times checked) it does not show major wear and tear. It also has a good cinch down strap feature that keeps me feeling safe that the bag will not come open unnecessarily. The construction does look more casual than the standard black rolling suitcase. This is done to provide for the outside pockets and provide additional rugged construction for use of this bag beyond a simple business trip.

I have not yet had to use the famous Briggs & Riley warranty but colleagues of mine swear by the policy and have gotten prompt and remarkable service when requesting a repair or new suitcase due to damage.

I would recommend this bag for use as a go to bag for almost every occasion, unless of course you need to have a backpack or carry bag in some of the more remote places. It provides stylish, durable construction with numerous convenience added packing features.

VERA BRADLEY CARGO SLING BAG in the "DAISY DAISY" Retired PATTERN

VERA BRADLEY CARGO SLING BAG in the 'DAISY DAISY' Retired PATTERNThe pattern on this Vera Bradley bag is beautiful and it has lots of outside compartments to store things. For me, it is way too large; it resembles a diaper bag :( I was looking for a spring/summer bag but feel awkward carrying such a big bag around. I'll probably give this to someone.

TITLE World Champion Sport Bag/Back Pack

TITLE World Champion Sport Bag/Back PackThis bag is huge. Don't expect it to fit into the tiny lockers at most Boxing gyms, but there is plenty of room for boxing gloves, towels, water, extra clothes etc. The zipper is a giant tread like connector. The bag is closer to a duffle bag in size and as long as you aren't expecting to stuff it in a locker its a great choice!

My boyfriend got an amazon gift card for his birthday from my mom. He needed a new gym bag and decided to go with this one. He was very happy with the value of this bag. He trains kick boxing and jui jitsu. He has room for his gloves, wraps, shoes, gym clothes, gi, and water bottles. I should also mention my boyfriend is 6'7 needless to say he needs a lot of room for all his items. He wears the largest gi size (sorry don't know the actual size number) and his gi fits in this bag with room to spare. He also likes the large zipper on the bag that allows you to open it very wide and see everything you have in your bag easily. He also likes the option of wearing it as a back-pack. As mentioned by other review this will not fit in a small gym locker, but it is a great bag for the money!

Patagonia Chacabuco Pack (Black)

Patagonia Chacabuco PackLet me start by saying that I am a backpack fanatic. I spend hours a week looking at backpacks.... Osprey, Camelbak, Maxpedition, Mountain Hardware. I own more than I'd like to admit.

I've been looking for the perfect urban EDC bag for sometime, & then I came across this pack. I love this pack! It has all the right features... organization, pockets, space, durability, looks etc. The one thing I do not like about this pack are the straps. I wish Patagonia would have made them a little more thicker & more comfortable. It was almost a deal breaker for me until I figured out how to break these in.

I would do this the day you receive the pack to get the straps to be comfortable: Fill the bag with anything until it's a little heavier that it would be when you normally carry it around. Buy a wooden suit hanger (any Target or Wal Mart). Hang the pack on the hanger, making sure that the shoulder straps bend where your shoulders would be. Tie the pack down so that it will not slip out of place or slide on the hanger. Let it hang there for a day or two and then it will be ready to go. Makes a world of difference.

With the straps broken in, this is hands down my favorite pack to wear around the city. It can go anywhere from an outdoor festival to a nice restaurant. Perfect!

I looked at reviews here and elsewhere for months before I finally replaced a 12 year old EMS bag. Bought the North Face Surge 2. Decent pack but very "stiff" is the only way I can put it. I needed something:

Big enough to take 2 lunches, a change of clothes, a sweater, laptop, cords, kindle and other odds and ends with me to work nearly every day on my 60 mile commute via train bus and subway.

Nice looking enough for the office but rugged and versatile enough to be a hiking day-pack stuffed with everything an over-packer like me can think of.

Comfortable and well balanced to minimize back stress while commuting/hiking.

That protects a laptop very well.

With a waist buckle to shift a lot of the weight to my hips. I know many hate these/think they look dorky. To each their own but it makes a world of difference on the back. I think you can take them off if you want. Me though, I love the waist belt and had a hard time finding a good pack with one.

Check check check and check. Love this bag. Only had it a month so can't speak to longevity but it seems durable, but without the stiffness of some other bags.

It doesn't have the easy airport pocket feature that many bags advertise, but personally I didn't want that as I rarely ever fly and found the extra pocket feature just added bulk and is useless when I'm not travelling with a laptop like on the weekend hiking. The laptop IS very well protected though in the dedicated internal sleeve. Well cushioned on all edges and sides and the bottom of the laptop sleeve is cushioned and "elevated" a bit off the base of the main bag compartment so if you put the bag down hard you're fine. And I dig that when not toting the laptop, the compartment just smooshes flat to allow me to cram more stuff in.

Some people have complained about he straps digging into shoulders or something. Everybody's body is shaped differently but I had zero problems (5-9 guy, average build) and I wear it for hours at a time often overstuffed, and I find the straps very comfortable and the back cushioning is nice as well.

I could see a frequent airport traveller maybe wanting a pack with that easy open sleeve feature but it's not like sliding the laptop out of the sleeve within the main compartment is particularly hard or time consuming.

In sum, highly recommended from someone hard to please with backpacks.

Oh, P.S. you can find this cheaper and in different colors elsewhere online.

Toma Hash Drawstring Cinch Bag Backpack With Exterior Mesh Pocket Polyester Tote Sack

Toma Hash Drawstring Cinch Bag Backpack With Exterior Mesh Pocket Polyester Tote Sack - Black CA2600My son turned 12 and he went on a boys camping trip. So I purchased these bags to fill with camping stuff as party favors. They were great, held everything and seem pretty sturdy. Also the straps did NOT fall off the boys shoulders like a lot of these cinch bags do.

The "Toma Hash Drawstring Cinch Bag with Mesh Pocket" is such a good value for the money. It measured true to the size provided in the specs. I ordered 22 of the royal bags with 2-day delivery. They came in 2 days (no processing time) on a Saturday! The seams are finished well, with the main bag seam finished with a black fabric tape. They look much nicer than I expected. I would definitely order these again. The Fashion Rack's service only made this experience better. I called to confirm shipping because I had a very tight deadline, and they were courteous and spot on with their explanation of delivery time frames. This experience was well above my expectations.

I was drawn to this bag over others because of the mesh pocket on front to hold my athletic shoes. Dakine 100-Litre Split Roller Pack

Dakine 100-Litre Split Roller PackThis bag is fantastic! I highly highly recommend it. The compartments and size are perfect for long trips especially if you're going abroad. My only bit of advice might be that it's a little large for a weekend bag, but other then that it's great.

This bag is huge i have had mine for a couple of years now its blue pinstripe it was a discontinued color its held up great from vacations, camping, and moving out!!! I have packed this bag several times when i moved out of my parents house! I plan on moving in with my gf at her new place and will be using this along with my other bags!!! I needed a huge suitcase that i could pack all of my clothes to leave it easily packed my entire dresser full of clothes!!! This bag is awesome its like traveling with a dresser drawer it has many zip mesh pockets and compartments to keep me all packed and organized i like the middle zippered mesh pocket inside the bag i packed all of my socks boxers, and underwear from my dresser in the middle pocket it also has a zip pocket inside the middle compartment for your toothbrush, toothpaste, or deodorant, or any items u want to pack in there!!! Its a great bag to go camping the mesh compartments keep all my dirty laundry seperate from my clean clothes it keeps my clean clothes from smelling like a campfire the smoke from my clothes gets into the lining of the bag so when i unpack my bag i have to air it out before i pack all my clothes for vacation my bags still smell like smoke!!! When i move i pack two bags with all my essentials to get me through i have entirely too many clothes so when i move i pack everything in separate bags one bag for jeans-pants, and my other bags with t-shirts, hoodies, shorts, socks and underwear its easier for me to move that way its all my stuff i don't need right away!! I have lived out of this suitcase alot everything is very easy to find in the bag when its packed everything stays organized!!! My gf she has the sm and lg split roller i suggest traveling with the small the large is a very big bag its more for very long trips where you need to empty out your dresser and pack everything into this bag and for moving which i used mine for and traveling the sm is great for a 5 day trip and easily will hold a weeks worth of clothes!!! I'm not a light packer i travel alot with my gf and stay with her!!! I own several pieces of luggage this bag holds more than my large suitcase and my xxl adidas santiago duffel bag i can pack alot of clothes i can pack my entire dresser in my duffel the dakine still has enough room when its fully packed for more stuff!! I also I am living out of my suitcase and old huge yellow nike brasilia duffel!! I need to buy another large suitcase to pack the rest of my clothes my bags are packed sitting by the door in my room ready for me to leave!!!

Meffort Inc 15 15.6 inch Laptop Sleeve Bag Carrying Case with Hidden Handle and Adjustable Shoulder

Meffort Inc 15 15.6 inch Laptop Sleeve Bag Carrying Case with Hidden Handle and Adjustable Shoulder Strap - Rainbow Heart DesignIf the case looked like the picture, I would love it its actually of sturdy quality and very functional. However, the screen printed hearts were clearly stamped twice on the fabric and two stamps don't match up. It looks like the machined stamped the design once, then the fabric moved slightly down and to the left, where it was stamped again. The result is a super ugly, deformed looking shape that is definitely NOT a heart. I can't believe they even shipped this to me, it's that ugly. Also, the colors are not bright rainbow colors like the picture, they're muted and flat. Will not be buying from Meffort Inc. again.

Tamrac 5549 Adventure 9 Photo/Laptop Backpack (Red/Black)

Tamrac 5549 Adventure 9 Photo/Laptop BackpackHaving greatly enjoyed the fine quality and convenience of Tamrac's Adventure 8 Photo Backpack , I eagerly purchased the Adventure 9 as a more versatile travel bag. I was especially interested in being able to consolidate my camera bag and computer bag into one unit.

The Adventure 9 certainly has more room than the Adventure 8, especially in the top compartment. The bag is sturdily designed and comfortable, and Tamrac have introduced some nice extra features. I like the removable inner pocket designed for carrying laptop and electrical cords, although it would be more convenient to have it adhere directly to the bag via Velcro, rather than having the cumbersome Velcro straps that lash to inner loops.

The padded camera compartment is easier to access than the Adventure 8, although one must be careful not to spill lenses and other equipment out on the ground.

The Adventure 9 is not all good, however. The see-through lined compartment has limited uses other than as a "collect all" pocket. Tamrac's special "Memory and Battery Management System" is pretty useless if if you utilize a memory case such as Gepe's CardSafe Watertight Memory Card Case . The memory management compartment just take up otherwise needed space.

Despite its larger size, the Adventure 9 has fewer compartments than the smaller Adventure 8. There are times when I would like extra compartments in order to stash small items and extra goodies, such as small bottles of sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and lens cleaner.

As a word of caution, the padded camera compartment is deeper than it looks in the advertisement photos. If your equipment is of standard size (in other words, not gigantic), you may have to be creative with the padded inserts in order to keep your gear from shifting or flopping around inside the compartment.

When accessing the camera compartment, the top quick release buckle tends to constantly flop down into the compartment. I'm constantly annoyed with it, shoving it out of the way to get to my gear, only to have it flop back into the way.

Both the Adventure 8 and Adventure 9 backpacks have waist straps. However, the Adventure 8 has a rear sleeve in which to stash the waist straps when not in use. For some unknown reason, this sleeve was not included in the Adventure 9 pack, leaving the straps to dangle needlessly below the bag. If it didn't reduce the bag's resale value, I would probably cut the straps off just to be rid of the annoyance.

According to the Tamrac website, the rear computer compartment holds 17" laptops up to 15 1/2" x 11" x 2". Most Apple notebooks run a bit slimmer than that, so access is not a problem. My computer, however, runs those exact dimensions and will not fit due to the compartment's zipper limitations. Tamrac should have designed a wider zipper opening for easier access. I'm fearful of forcing the computer, as it may tear the zipper or the compartment.

In conclusion, I was hoping that upgrading from the Adventure 8 to the Adventure 9 would allow me the same functionality as well as the added bonus of hauling a laptop. In the end, the bags shortcomings left a bad taste in my mouth.

Since I got this backpack several weeks ago, I made many trips, including 2 to Singapore. I brought along my Canon XTi (400D), its kit lens (18-55mm), one 28-135mm lens, one 70-200mm / f2.8 lens, one external flash, and a few other small accessories, one 17-in Dell D820 laptop, its charger and mouse. The total weight is over 24 lbs (11 kg). I find this bag much better than the Tamrac Adventure 7 and the Lowepro CompuDayPack, both of which I outgrew quickly. With the Adventure 9, I can access my camera, lenses and accessories, pretty fast. Yes, I do have to put the bag on the ground to get to the camera; But that's the price I am willing to pay for convenience of carrying so many things in one bag.

When in an airplane, I put this backpack in the overhead bin. It's securely out of the way of legs, feet, service carts, etc. Before leaving home or hotel room in the morning, I will make a decision on what to bring. For example, when I was in Singapore over a weekend, I left my laptop and its accessories in the lock box in the room. My backpack was considerably lighter. I was able to find a way to conveniently secure my monopod on the Adventure 9, went out to enjoy the city and took a good deal of pictures.

This backpack is well made. The quality of its materials and workmanship is very high. Its design makes its usage convenient. The features of this backpack are well thought-out. I feel secure carrying my photographic assets around.

The only issue preventing me from giving it a 5 star is the opening for the laptop. It is barely enough for a 17-in laptop; the zipper interferes with putting in or taking out the laptop, from time to time. It seems that the worst time for this interference to happen is at the airport security line.

Hope my review is of use to you.

Update 16 March 2010

Since my review above, I made many more trips to Asia & Europe, as well as within the US. I also upgraded my camera to a Canon 50D. And my company entrusted me with a slightly bigger laptop.

This Tamrac Adventure 9 I purchased back in 2007 still serves me well. It protected my camera, lenses and accessories through high humidity & high heat of Southeast Asia, high dry heat of the desert Southwest of US, extreme cold winter of the central Europe, and many types of weather in between.

In case you like to see the photos I took on my travels, please go to .

Thank you.

This backpack has it all:

Padded compartment for laptops up to 17"

Ample room for large DSLRs and 2-4 lenses/flashes

Space for other items, guidebook, jacket, etc.

A discrete non-camera bag appearance for security

It is a great looking bag too. I am going to the Caucasus and don't want to leave any equipment at the hotel. This bag allows you to carry all your gear with you. The straps are very comfortable. I like the grey/black combination, doesn't scream "I have expensive camera equipment. Come mug me."

I bought this to fit my Canon EOS 30D, EF 24-70 f/2.8L (attached to the camera), EF-S 10-22 & the EF 70-200 f/2.8L.

Does it all fit? Yep, but there's not a whole lot of room left over. I have room in the bottom for the 580EX Speedlite but that's about it.

The top on the other hand is a bit smaller than I would have liked. Sure it holds other stuff...and lunch...OR a sweatshirt...but it's pretty cramped. With a bit of mashing I can just fit a light sweatshirt and my Panasonic PV-GS150 up there but it's a tight squeaze to be sure.

It's comfortable to wear but could really be a little larger overall. And I wish there was a way to secure all the straps...sternum, etc. I don't need those all the time and without a few "ties" of some sort they just seem to be floppin' everywhere.

I only gave it 3 stars because while it really is a very nice backpack it really could stand to be a few inches larger all the way around...and be able to secure or remove the extra straps when not in use.

We recently took this backpack to Mexico, with a laptop, some camera gear, and even put some small portable speakers in the camera dividers. It was heavy but very comfortable to carry. All the gear was well protected but easy to access (handy for airport security!). The versatility of having padded sections AND a laptop pocket (which is accessible without opening the main part of the pack) AND an open area for jacket or snacks makes this the perfect pack for our needs.
