Eddie Bauer "Weekender" Mini Diaper Bag

Eddie Bauer 'Weekender' Mini Diaper Bag - black, one sizeAlthough I was initially put off from this bag because it is not feminine or baby-cute (two pluses as far as my husband is concerned, and now as baby is not so new, I agree), I would not carry another bag. I have even come to enjoy the compact, black look that doesn't scream DIAPER BAG. I have noticed it's smaller than many women's purses. I own a larger diaper bag, but I find I very seldom use it, because there are so few places you really need to carry that much stuff. Although this bag is small, I think I can get in quite a bit. People have called this my clown bag, because I can pull out a few diapers, wipes, changing pad, face wipes, pacifier wipes, and three or four toys/books, a snack cup, or skip a toy and take some baby food and eating-out essentials. I put diapers in one interior pouch, and I keep bandaids and small diaper ointment packets and a tiny nose sucker in the other that's intended for bottles. I put a sippy cup in one side pocket (I nursed, so I don't know about carrying bottles), tissue pack and binky in the other, and the large front pocket is for my wallet, keys, phone, lotion, chapstick and whatnot. The thin back pocket was nice for easy access to a burp cloth when the tyke was very little. Now, I tend to shove notes or mail in there when we're running errands. In winter, I carry around a small light blanket, too, but I usually end up tying that around a shoulder strap. I know people who don't feel comfortable leaving the house without the kithen sink, and I initially felt nervous relying on so little, but it caused me to be efficient, and now I can't imagine lugging more around with me. Who needs the shoulder pain? The zipper is awesome very easy to use single-handedly. I love this with my strollers, because it slips nicely over the handle bars and isn't so heavy that it causes the stroller to keel over. Definitely recommend this bag! The only issue I have ever had with it is that my husband dropped it off of the front of the stroller and ran it over, making a small hole where it skidded along the road. For 14 months of daily use, not bad and who on earth really runs over their diaper bag?

My 2 yr old daughter goes to daycare 4 days out of the week, so this bag was used A LOT. We found it a great size for just the essentials (change of clothes, diapers & wipes), a discrete gender neutral look, and the dual zipper top access was a plus.

However, after 2 months of use we found the fabric loop on one side (attached to the bag, not to the strap) was fraying and it eventually separated all together! I thought this might have just been a fluke, but when I look at the other side it's beginning to show the same issues.

I think the problem is that the strap becomes twisted, and the rectangular plastic loop (that connects the strap to the loop of the bag) sits tall instead of wide, continuously pulling the fabric loop in a way it was not intended. A simple straight stitch flush against the rectangular plastic loop would have done wonders, its a shame it wasn't recognized in testing.

I know my husband and myself were not the gentlest with this bag, but that's just a simple design flaw. Parents shouldn't have to "baby" the baby bag.

I bought this as an extra diaper bag so I wouldn't have to drag my large bag everywhere. I love it, it's perfect for quick trips and has room for everything I need for short time frames. I honestly use this more than my fancy larger bag. My sister is having a baby and wants the same bag too!

Now that my boys are getting older I don't need a big bag to carry bottles or anything so I wanted something small enough to carry only the few items I need and this bag does the job! I can fit the items for the boys as well as my wallet and items from my purse so that I don't have to carry a purse and a diaper bag. I also love the adjustable strap so that if my hands are full I can put the bag over my neck/shoulder and it makes it very easy to carry. Great bag!

This bag is perfect for everyday out and about use. It comfortably fits spare clothes, diapers, wipes and bottles in the main compartment, with four side compartments for more. I have a newborn and like taking her out, and don't see any need at all for a larger bag than this. It's also stylish and very well made, as well as not being gender specific like so many diaper bags are; my husband says this doubles as a man purse nicely!

Stephen Joseph Girls 2-6X Go Go Bag

Stephen Joseph Girls 2-6X Go Go Bag, Flower, One Size3 yrs ago, I bought a go-go backpack for my oldest daughter's first year of school. It was an adorable butterfly design and we loved it. It held her Stephen Joseph lunchbox, daily folder, library book, jacket, water bottle and nap towel every day. The backpack lasted from August to May and then the bottom began tearing on the edges.

We loved that backpack so naturally when my youngest was set to start school this year, I looked to Stephen Joseph.

And unfortunately, minus the adorable ballet design this backpack is terrible. Especially for the premium price we paid.

The backpack dimensions have changed and are extremely narrow and short. My youngest daughter's daily folder does not fit unless we bend the top edges of the folder in so we can zip it. That is how short this backpack is. It is impossible to squeeze a nap towel, water bottle and jacket into this pack as long as it holds her Stephen Joseph lunchbox (which is a must!). The sizing is completely useless for school. It would be fine for one change of clothes (possibly shoes too depending on the style and size) and a snack but that's it.

Also, the straps began fraying within the first week of use. Simply from pulling the straps on and off my child's shoulders.

What a shame, because I was so excited over this pack (she begged me for the ballet design go-go backpack ALL Summer!). I LOVE Stephen Joseph's designs (LOVE LOVE!) but the quality and dimensions of this backpack are very disappointing. :(

This backpack is so cute, especially monogrammed, but I've been disappointed how quickly it has worn. We used it for one school year (me carrying it the whole time my daughter is 1) and its straps have frayed badly. The zipper pull also is coming apart. And this is while I'm carrying it I can't imagine how badly it would do with a rowdy kiddo!

I love the design and sweet details but I have to admit, I'm a little leery of this brand now. We have the matching lunchbox and it is cheaply made too.

Bummer.

Bought this for my 4 year old in September -it has not even lasted through the school year. First the zipper broke, so I had it replaced. Now the seams are splitting. Cute design but does not last.

I bought this bag for my granddaughter who is taking ballet for the first time. It is well made and pretty for the reasonable price. It is large enough to take along a change of clothes and shoes. It would also hold quite a few childrens' books , toys, or extras for a trip.

Skip Hop Duo Double Deluxe Diaper Bag

Skip Hop Duo Double Deluxe Diaper Bag, BlackI have tried many many diaper bags. It was hard for me to spend anymore money on them, especially one that is $80, but i thought i would give it a try. I have a 2 yr. old and an 8 month old so i have to carry 2 sets of diapers, 2 change of clothes, snacks, drinks, baby food, plus my things, wallet, phone, and many more things. Everything fits in it perfectly and i love that it is very organized! (I hate digging for diapers etc....) Another plus is that i don't find it very heavy. Yes its heavier with ALL the stuff i put in it, but for as big as it is its really not that bulky! The only thing i don't like about the bag is that when you set it down it leans to one side (the side with the 3 pockets)! I wish it would just stay upright! Other than that i love this bag, i love the space, the color, the organization, the diaper changing pad and it looks stylish!

I just gave birth to twins and if there is one thing I HATE is when I need something from my diaper bag and I can't find it. This bag may be big, but it's got tons of pockets, hidden storage space, and room for absolutely anything that a busy mom would need. I also like that the front from pockets make it easy to store my keys, sunglasses, and cell phone. Regardless of whether or not you have one child or 12, this is a fabulous bag for moms on the go.

Buy Skip Hop Duo Double Deluxe Diaper Bag Now

As a mother of 3 small children, I was looking for a diaper bag that I could put everything I need in it and it would last me a really long time. So I came across this one, was reluctant of the price but I figured you would get what you pay for and get a higher quality product. The very little good I have to say about this bag is that it does have many pockets of various sizes and the bag itself is a good size. However, when it arrived, I thought after looking it over that it looked surprisingly cheap but decided I would give it a chance. Bad idea. The main zipper broke after ONE WEEK of use! Some of the seams have already started coming apart. The material that the bag is made out of and the zippers are extremely cheap looking/feeling. SO disappointing. I really wanted to love this bag. Do not let the price tag fool you like it did me. I have had an Eddie Bauer ($29) for years and have never had any problems whatsoever, I just needed more room. Skip Hop Duo Double Deluxe is NOT the way to go. I do not have any experience in other Skip Hop products but as for this bag, do not waste your money. Amazon customer service was great though!!

I am cloth diapering three little ones and this bag is perfect. Print is not boy or girl or baby whig I love. There are enough pockets for three kids. The mom pocket is sooooo convenient. The stroller clips are fantastic. So far I have not seen a downside to this bag.

I bought this bag after giving up my breast pump, and after finding that carrying a diaper bag and a purse and a work tote was just too much. This can combine everything I need with everything I need for my child in one roomy bag. I can fit a small clutch for all my personal items, small make-up bag and card holder in one area and keep all of my child's snacks, bottles, diapers, and wipes in another. And it is roomy enough for a clipboard, or notebook or book for work! Another advantage is that it can also act as an overnight bag. We also have the smaller 'one child' version and between the two of them, my child and I can pack up for a weekend and be just fine with only the two bags. It has really been a life saver for the commute to day care and work in the big city!

Osprey Metron 25-Litre Commuter Pack

Osprey Metron 25-Litre Commuter PackThis is my 2nd bike-commuting-specific backpack. My first was a Banjo Brothers Backpack which while waterproof was just bulky and awkward and had only a single large pocket.

This pack is far superior to that pack and also to every other general backpack I've owned.

Pros:

Comfortable weight distribution it packs more vertically than it does outwards which distributes the weight much more evenly when you are riding.

Laptop section I work in IT and am a grad student so I haul my laptop everywhere. Having a dedicated padding slot for it just makes things easier for me

Pockets Main pocket holds laptop and lunch etc, but there is also a slightly smaller outer pocket that has slots for pens and a key fob

Light clip pretty standard on a cycling pack but I still love the feature

Rain Cover! So awesome. I think it's much better than having an awkward waterproof pack. Just include the rain fly right in! And you don't even have to remember to bring it since it's built-in. It's been tested in plenty of storms I've ridden through and I've never had any problems.

Cons:

Hip straps are kinda cheap? But they do the job and are removable, so it's not even much of a con

No water/coffee pocket I just use the Ulock pocket, but it's annoying they don't have one

The pouches on the straps annoyed me at first, but now I use them for phone and keys and find it more of a 'pro' now than a 'con' but I also don't care about looking cool so others may consider this more of a serious con.

Conclusion:

If you're looking for a quality pack for your commute, even a regular commute but especially if you're commuting by bicycle, this could be a wonderful pack for you. Unlike the previous reviewer I find it quite compact especially compared to other bike-commuter backpacks on the market. If you're used to a messenger bag or a non-commuting bicycle pack like a Camelback style, though, then it may seem bulkier.

I bought this backpack for a trip to Germany in the summer. The last backpack I took over there was not very good and I vowed to buy a better backpack for next time. First off, you can't go wrong with Osprey brand. I own a messenger bag, a hiking backpack and now this backpack I will use on my travels. I put my bags through a lot and they have never failed. It's a great investment. Now to the bag. Very sturdy material. It has more packets than expected. That means less time spent while searching for that thing you just put in your pack 5 minutes ago. There is lots of space in this bag. The pictures on here and the Osprey site really don't do this bag any justice. One of the main reasons I bought this bag was because it has a rain cover. This is a must if you carry cameras and camera accessories like I do. It folds up nice and out of the way. Another cool feature is the way the bag is designed. The few pockets on the outside of the bag are hard to see and actually look like the design of the bag. This means less chance of someone trying to steal something from your bag. I am very pleased with my purchase and I am excited to try it out in Germany and France. I gave it a few test runs at home and I am confident it will work to my advantage.

Buy Osprey Metron 25-Litre Commuter Pack Now

Although I should write more I will just say the following.

Construction and materials are excellent

Some of the features are useful (removable straps)

Great cellphone/music player pouch

Ultimately I didn't find this to be much better than my $50 Burton pack and returned the Osprey. The backpack is inefficient in some respects. It was supposed to be my largest pack but was never big enough to fit many groceries and therefore didn't fit that build. As a smaller commuter pack it was way too bulk for a clean shirt and lunch.

If the size is right for you, you should love this. Again the construction is excellent and materials are exceptional.

I read a previous review before buying which said good bag but the pockets on the shoulder straps are irritating. Ignored that in favour of other positive reviews.

I have to say, however, that the pockets on the shoulder straps are very irritating. One is supposed to carry keys on a retractable lanyard, the other your mobile phone/ipod. Good idea, but they are mounted so high that when you carry the pack over one shoulder, you have one of these pockets sticking in to the underside of your neck. Only when you mount the bag with all straps, including the chest strap in place do they sit away from your face. Even then they are obtrusive, sticking out from your upper chest.

I am seriously considering cutting them off, preferring a scrappy looking shoulder strap to the current poor function.

Rest of bag is great quality make and thoughtful distribution of pockets and straps etc. Which makes the pocket thing even more irritating.

Want Osprey Metron 25-Litre Commuter Pack Discount?

Great design and extremely comfortable I hardly know I'm wearing it on long commutes. The attention to detail and finish is excellent. All in all a great backpack that I would recommend to any commuter.

Peg Perego Borsa Mamma Diaper Bag, Paloma

Peg Perego Borsa Mamma Diaper Bag, PalomaI actually do like this bag however I marked the bag down because the product is not as described.

The bag's material is a faux leather which should actually be easy to wipe down and the inside is a nylon, again nice for easy wiping but kind of makes a crinkle sound when you are digging through your bag looking for stuff. The bag is advertised as a elegant and functional diaper bag solution which I think is accurate but I would add sporty. This bag isn't as chic as it appears in the pictures but more sporty. I am expecting my second baby and I think I should be able to fit just the bare essentials for two (two sizes of diapers, wipes, changing pad, toys, pacifier, lotion, hand sanitizer, cell phone, small wallet, pens, water bottle, and maybe a nursing cover). There isn't going to be room for extra clothes, blankets, or bottles/formula. But if you only have one or prefer to travel on the lighter side then this bag is plenty roomy. The changing pad is very thick and I am sure would be nice to lay on . . . but I don't have room in the bag to carry such a thick changing pad.

I am disappointed because this bag is advertised as a being able to convert into a backpack which I thought would be a useful feature with two kids. Th 2010 version of this bag does not convert into a backpack and according to the manufacture, only the 2008 and 2009 versions convert into the backpack. This bag also does not come with the pictured "removable bottle holder" and again according to the manufacture, only the 2008 version has this feature. The 2008 and 2009 versions have been discontinued and through various research I can't find anyone who actually sells the 2008 and 2009 versions. Plenty of websites claim to sell them, but once I contact them to confirm they only have the 2010 versions. I've include the Peg Perego response below:

Thank your inquiry. We apologize the confusion. The 2010 Borsa Mamma bag is no longer can be converted into a backpack. This feature was on the 2008 & 2009 models only. The removable bottle holder was also only available on the 2008 Borsa Mamma bags.

Thank you,

Carolina

I wish Amazon and all sellers of this bag would update the information so that they at least correctly advertise the product. The Peg Perego website advertises this bag the most correctly:

[…]

I have only had this bag for a week and only carried it once because I have been on the hunt for the 2008/09 versions. I can't comment on the durability but the bag does look like it is made well and should last a long time.

I bought this bag straight from Peg Perego in a red color. After 3 months of use, there is a lot of tear, the black PVC line is peeling and is looking broken and unattractive. I seldom use this bag but it looks really worn. It is also very small, does not fit all neccessities for a little baby...maybe a toddler who has already gone through toilet training, if you only need to use the bag for a little sweater and some snacks to pack then it might be the right one for you.

Buy Peg Perego Borsa Mamma Diaper Bag, Paloma Now

This is the most beautiful Diaper Bag. I did so much research before getting this one, and belive me you won't find anything similar. It's not cheap, but is sturdy and high quality. If you are looking for a NICE diaper bag that could be your purse for a long time, this diaper bag is for you. I was so worried to change my designer purses onces the baby is born, that I started to look for COACH and other nice brands. They were not as practical as this one. It has straps, so you can attach it to your stroller. The color is absolutely beautiful and goes with any outfit. Also, it has a pad that you can use to change your baby so no more putting your baby on dirty chaning stations.

J. Carrot Striped Fleece Backpack Bag

Carrot At-23171 Striped Fleece BackpackThe shipping was very quick, took about 5 days.

This bag is true to its measurements and very good quality.

The handles are a little stiff but everything else is superb.

When I first received this backpack I was kind of disappointed; it did not fit my 15 inch laptop... I mean, technically, my laptop fit in the backpack, but not very well. Nothing else could fit in the backpack with it and it would stab me in back. I initially purchased this backpack to take my laptop to work so I would be unique and not just have a standard laptop bag like everyone else. The fabric is thinner than I thought but really soft, which is plus. After spending a few days with this backpack I am totally in love with it! I decided to take it to work anyways for a conference and filled with some essentials (Jacket, Jambox, headphones, cologne, etc.) it was a smash hit! People commented on how stylish the bag was, they loved the leather accents, and the soft fabric. Everyday I had a compliment on this bag and I loved the utility of it. I wish there were more pockets on the inside, but overall, this bag is great!

I love this backpack! it's pretty and cute, though it would look ridiculous on someone who is a little on the bigger side.! I recommend this for petite people..Also, it holds mostly 5 of my folders a notebook, but not my binder. (which i hold most of the time) Stilll like it anyway :) It's so soft. I totally recommmend it.

I got this after my Roxy bookbag fell apart after only a few months of use. Its way cute and you can tell they actually put effort into quality control. No messed up zippers, loose strings, or bad stitching, which is a rarity these days. It is a bit smaller than most bookbags on the market and would NOT be a good pick if your high school is anything like mine. There's just no way three binders, two textbooks, and all the other stuff you need to haul around will fit. However, I use mine for college, and a binder and textbook fit just fine. I can also fit my small gym bag when I need to and that has clothes and shoes, so its not too small. I was worried after reading the other reviews.

Its a great choice and I would highly recommend!!

BUILT 13-Inch Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro Neoprene Sleeve, Rain Drop

BUILT 13-Inch Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro Neoprene Sleeve, Rain DropI've been very pleased with this protective sleeve for my new model 13-inch MacBook Pro. As a flight attendant I travel through airport security often and have not gotten a single scratch on my precious MBP while protected securely inside the BUILT neoprene sleeve. The sleeve pulls easily in and out of my tote bag. I believe the shape of the sleeve protects the corners of my laptop and gives me an extra sense of security. I love the color scheme of this sleeve and I love it even more in person. The colors in person are a little more sophisticated, not as bright as it looks on the product page (at least on my computer.)

Bottom line--I would purchase this again without hesitation. My 13-inch MacBook Pro is secure and safe and I am confident enough to use it in a bag without a designated laptop pocket.

This laptop case is listed as an Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro product, however it is also the perfect fit for my 13-inch Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga. The zipper closure is awesome and opens/closes without any difficulty and the neoprene lining is so soft and adds extra cushion. The photos of the product don't do it justice, as the colors are very vibrant and bright. I am extremely happy with this sleeve.

Kelty Minnow 750 Backpack

Kelty Minnow 750 BackpackThe product itself is cute, compact, great for camp or preschool (not big enough for school books) The only reason I give it 4 stars is that the picture is not a good representation of the color. Here it looks salmon and it is actually bright red.

I bought this backpack for my 3 year old for preschool. He has to have a full change of clothes in his backpack at all times, and in winter, his snow bibs also have to fit. This backpack is large enough for all the clothing he needs, but still small enough for him to carry easily by himself. We walk about 3.5 blocks to school, and he carries it just fine. Without the snow bibs, there is still plenty of room for whatever papers need to come home.

I am pleasantly surprised with the durability, and won't need to purchase another backpack next year, or hopefully the year after that. I will be buying another of this brand when it is time for my younger child to go to preschool, and a bigger version when my oldest moves up to elementary school.

An added bonus is that no one else in his school has a backpack like it since it is not carried at any major retailers around here. There is less confusion and he can find his backpack quickly.

Buy Kelty Minnow 750 Backpack Now

I got this backpack for my 4 year old when she started preschool mainly to avoid the character covered, cheap backpacks you usually find. It is the perfect size and made it through an entire year of preschool with barely any wear. The zippers and fabric are very durable and it's the perfect size to fit folders, papers, and a lunch bag. We will use this backpack until it's too small for her, since I can tell it won't wear out any time soon. I'll be ordering another one for my three year old soon. We are also planning on introducing the kids to backpacking, and this little pack will be the perfect size for the kids to hold their own clothes and toys without being so big it will drag them down. It is a great price for the quality and I can't recommend it enough!

5.11 Covrt18 Backpack

5.11 Covrt 18 Backpack Blue/SteelI am not military or LE, I simply want a backpack that doesn't advertise itself as "I'm expensive, think about robbing my owner" when travelling in foreign countries. I currently own 2 different Northface bags (typical school "book bag" types) and an Osprey Stratos 24. The Osprey is better than the Northface bags but I feel conspicuous using it my mistake really...should only be used for hiking. Size wise, this bag looks the same as the Northface

I got the 5.11 Covrt18 bag (navy) a week before I traveled to 3 islands in the Caribbean. The bag is good looking without standing out in any way. It has the standard laptop case which is fine. This bag really stands out in 3 ways from my perspective:

1) Spaciousness of main compartment

2) Weight distribution/comfort

3) Size and organization (ie functionality) of additional compartments

I stored passports, 4 days of clothing, a Canon DLSR, 2 books (1 was 1100 pages), 3 phone chargers, camera charger, snacks, earplugs, headphones, writing paper & pens. I carried this onto the plane and was able to fit it under the seat(aisle seat) with minimal shoving.

The main compartment is surprisingly big. I was able to put clothing on all 4 sides of my camera without feeling like i was crushing it. It has 2 grommeted holes on the bottom, which at first I didn't like thinking water would get in but I quickly realized I'd never put my bag down in a puddle. The holes let the lint and cruft fall out vs my other bags which require periodic upside down shakeouts. The holes are smaller than a dime so you can still toss your change wherever is easiest.

I don't understand why this bag is so comfortable compared to the others I own. Yes, the shoulder straps are cushioned but thats never bothered me. Rather, the weight seems to be better distributed? I don't feel like I need to walk hunched forward slightly and frankly forgot I had it on when standing at the airport for 6 hrs.

The northface bags have 700 zippers, straps, openings but I hated them. The Covrt18 makes perfect sense the 2ndary compartments don't 'black hole' your stuff when you need to get things out. The arrangement makes it easy to recognize which compartment you're opening. My 2 favorites are the very top compartment, lined with soft material. Perfect for sunglasses, cellphone, keys, earbuds, gum & other things that you may need to pull out frequently. The other is the 2 overlapping square compartments on the outside perfect for throwing passports in one and paper/notes in the other.

I've only had it for 2 weeks now so I can't comment on durability but have no reason to question it. Yes it is slightly more expensive than other bags but when I add up the 3 I've purchased prior to Covrt18, it's close to $200 spent trying to find the right bag. Buy the right one first.

UPDATE: July 2012

I've used this about 6 times so far and it's still in like-new condition. I haven't found any problems or 'cons' since the original review. I took it to Italy for a week and to Las Vegas for a 3 day weekend. For Vegas this was the only thing I brought fit 2 shorts, 1 jeans, pair of dress shoes, 6 shirts, bathing suit, toiletries and a kindle room for more. If you don't already roll everything for packing I'd suggest trying it out with this. The bundle method is better for avoiding wrinkles with suits and dress shirts IMO...

I wanted very badly to like this backpack. I could not have been more excited to see the UPS guy pull up today. When I pulled it out of the box, it became obvious that the quality control on these things is sub-par. While the bag itself seemed to be very functional, and all of their advertisements seemed to be accurate, several of the straps and zippers on the one I ordered were either already broken (zippers on the inside pockets, which I was able to fix after fiddling with it for about a half hour), or they broke upon their first use (the right hand elastic strap on the water bottle holder popped the first time I tried to cinch it up). I am returning this bag, and am now debating whether I should try another one or not. I was purchasing this for a trip I am going on in a week, and I just hope that I can get another unit that fast if I decide to get another one of these. I am not sure what the quality control process is for these, but it seems that it needs to be adjusted. Had I have paid half the price for this backpack, it wouldn't be a big deal, but at this price to have things breaking on the backpack right out of the box is unacceptable. Very disappointing from a backpack of this caliber...

**UPDATE**

Ok, I did indeed wind up purchasing another one, and this time with better results. I have since been to Korea, China, backpacking, fishing, and have used it at the office every day, and it has actually been a great little backpack. It is indeed laid out well, and it just adapts so well to so many different scenarios. It is also well balanced and extremely comfortable. I bumped it up a star (really wanted to give it 3 1/2, but half in not an option). The reason I didn't go up to five with it is because I am still a little concerned that I heard nothing at all from the company. In fact, I even sent them a contact through their website and nothing. The other thing I am very concerned about is that I left a similar review on the the companies website which never got posted. It is always a little shady to me when a website lets you "review" products, but the negative ones never post. This is akin to false advertisement if you ask me.

In summary, the backpack itself (second time around) is actually really good and I am glad overall that I gave it another shot. The company does not seem to be concerned with pleasing their customers (at least average Joes...maybe it would be different if I were in the service or in law enforcement...), nor will they allow honest feedback on their website's posted comments and "ratings." Again, for a backpack of this price that is in competition with other companies who offer lifetime warranties on their products, this seems like an unwise practice.

There you go! Now you decide...

This well thought-out backpack has lots of room and many pockets for organization. The padded laptop sleeve is as good as any other backpack's; a 17" MacBook Pro will *just* fit, though the top corners are very close to the top of the bag. The side-entry pocket is great for stowing an iPad our you can use the big front pocket for the same purpose. The two small pockets on the front are perfect for small items you want to get to quickly like USB sticks, ear-buds or change. The "admin" pocket on the front-top has plenty of room for pens, business cards, small note pads and other "office supplies". The main compartment where the laptop can be stowed expands quite a bit, you could drop a 3" binder in there along with the laptop. There is no dedicated "paperwork" pocket like you find in most laptop backpacks, but you can use the main compartment or, if it's just a folder or two, a great place is the compartment that can also hold the hydration pack. The mesh zippered pockets in the main compartment are great for stowing whatever you want to carry that needs to be contained/organized.

This bag is more than just a laptop bag, it is intended to be used in the field and is just as tough as a typical day-hiking bag by one of the major outdoor bag manufacturers. On a recent trip, I dumped out all my business stuff and put in a hydration bladder, first aid kit, snacks, maps, etc and went on an all day hike. The shoulder straps and sternum strap are well designed and distribute the weight of the backpack to keep your shoulders and back from getting sore on long treks. The surfaces that contact your back, shoulders and chest are made of a semi-breathable padding to help keep you cooler and the padding on the back has a channel for ventilation. The empty weight is very light, the fabric is water repellant and most of the zippers have rain covers that keep (much)water from leaking through the zippers and into the bag. After a trip from the US to Europe then Asia and back the backpack still looks brand new and will certainly last for years. This is a great bag and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new laptop backpack.

One last comment about carrying the 17" MacBook. My laptop is in a Speck Products lexan case that will protect it from bumps, but does add about 3/16" to the dimensions. With the case, the laptop still fits fine. Because there is virtually no room left at the top of the bag, I was concerned about the top corners of the laptop rubbing on the fabric and causing wear. I put a 2"x3" patch of moleskin on each upper inside surface where this contact could occur, just in case. The moleskin has been there for over a month and shows no sign of wear and isn't trying to peel off, and there is no sign of wear on the outside of the bag.

I finally convinced my wife to let me order her a EDC bag. I did a lot of research and decided on the 5.11 COVRT 18. I read the review from J. Sutton (posted on this site) and was a little concerned however I decided to order 2 of the bags anyway. That was a mistake! Upon arrival, the one I ordered for my wife was damaged / broken. The top carrying handle was torn in two. I examined it further and it appears the handle was yanked on until it gave way and broke through the middle. The stitching around the handle was frayed and, well, it was completely sheared in two (in the middle). I've never seen a pack handle do this! This should have been caught by quality control as it was an OBVIOUS defect in workmanship and is the first thing I noticed as I pulled it out of the packaging (unless a disgruntled employee shipped it in this manner??!!). I examined the pack I ordered for me and found other frayed / loose stitching which made me nervous. I called 5.11 but was directed to a voice mail. I left two messages explaining the quality / damage issues but never received a phone call back. BOTTOM LINE: This pack is definitely sub-par when it comes to quality. I would not trust it in the field. I've heard other police officers say 5.11 has been producing gear with issues recently, but I didn't believe it until I saw it. Buyer beware! My search continues for a well built EDC pack. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I have lost confidence in 5.11's quality and customer service.

Want 5.11 Covrt18 Backpack Discount?

I am a firearms and CHL (Concealed Handgun License) instructor. I am constantly looking for a backpack or other way of carrying my work gear that does not look Tacticool and, therefore, broadcasts to the world "THIS GUY IS CARRYING A GUN!!" This bag is perfect for carrying all work day essentials. I have a HUGE 17" Dell laptop that fits in the main compartment perfectly. I also have a full sized Glock .45 with 2 mags, and a S&W snubby with speedloader in the velcro concealed compartment. My last backpack seemed to be so heavy, but it's stuff I use every day so I have to carry it around. I have no idea what the deal is with this backpack, but I swear the exact same load out I carried in my lst pack FEELS lighter in this backpack. I guess it's the location/spacing of the straps...not sure. But I love it. I also should mention that I'm 6'7" and have broad shoulders, and this pack fits fine (for those that find it hard to fit a good backpack).

I love the sporty, pleasant looking colors offered and love even more that it does not scream TACTICAL!

Buy it. You will not be disappointed.

14 Inch Classic Green Peacock DOUBLE Sided Print Design Dual Compartment Laptop Carrying Case Noteb

14 Inch Classic Green Peacock DOUBLE Sided Print Design Dual Compartment Laptop Carrying Case Notebook Slipcase Bag Netbook Sleeve Cover + Detachable Padded Adjustable Shoulder Strap for Apple PowerBook Dell HP EliteBook Sony VAIO ToshibaThis computer case is beautiful, functional, and a bit too big. It worked just fine for my purposes, but if you are looking for something that is a perfect fit for your computer, then this may not be for you. It seems to me that this case would work well for most individuals with the computer specifications required. The case has an extra pocket on the side (with a zipper) if you want to put extra items such as charger, thumb drive, etcetera in it. Delivery was on time, with no troubles.
