The quality and price are that of any other backpack that you'd get for your elementary aged schooler. It's a 50/50 chance that this will last my 7 year old through the entire school year but we'll see. For the price, it is reasonable.

This bag is nice but it's a littletoo big for my 5-year old. It's probably better sized for Jr. High aged kids.

Not only is this backpack absolutely gorgeous, but it's very sturdy built too. The colors on the design are bright and very well done. The backpack itself is roomy without being overly large, the seams well-made and the zippers have been very durable. I got this for my daughter and she absolutely loves it. I wish I had gotten one for myself too!

UPDATEA year later and the backpack is still going strong despite being tossed around, thrown in the trunk, under the bed and too many other situations/places to name. It's been rained on, washed and dried. The colors are still vibrant, zippers are all still functional and the seams are good. :)

this bag is really adorable, but not too big. We use it for overnight trips, or picnics. the zipper on the front pocket gets stuck frequently, and isnt stitched too well. if you only plan to use this as an occasional bag it would work just fine. if you plan to use it everyday, i believe the zipper would definately break. i do like the features of this bag. you can extend the handle to pull it behind you or wear it as a back pack. perfect for a little girl 3-6 yrs old.

This is a beautifully put together bag,but way too small. Its for maybe a 3yr old to 'play' with. I bought this thinking it was much bigger. My mistake was not paying attention to the measurements. My 7yr needs a wheeled backpack for school books,etc. and this is more like a toy for a very young child. The bag is beautiful and looks like it can be great for a youngin' but not for a replacement for school stuff. I will look for something bigger.

This bag was sold as having the following dimensions: 13.8 x 9.1 x 21 inches

However, is is NOT the case. The bag barely measures 8" deep at the very base including the wheels, and is only 6" deep at the top. These are the outside dimensions. The actual usable space inside the bag is about an inch or so less than this. I wanted a carry-on bag that would be close to the maximum carry-on size (9" deep) and at only 5.5 lbs, this bag seemed to be one of the only ones on the market that was the maximum carry-on size with trolley and backpack in this light weight. The stated dimensions are a lie -it was too good to be true.

Because the seller was a 3rd party (LuggagePoint), I had to pay for shipping costs back, which were twenty-five dollars! I am now out this money even though the description was a lie. The box that it arrived in was also badly torn up so I could not even use the same box to ship it back. The seller was lucky that the bag didn't arrived damaged given the poor condition of the Antler box they shipped it in. Overall, I am VERY unhappy with this purchase.

This is high quality luggage for those that like to travel light. It would be a shame to use it as a book bag as it is an ideal carry-on and will meet airline requirements as such. What it has that most carry ons lack are backpack straps tucked flat in a zip closure compartment. This is the type of bag used by Rick Steves in his on the go style(which I hope to emulate). After careful examination of the construction, I feel that it can serve for many years of trips. Just don't give one to a child to use as a book bag as they can trash anything.

I bought this bag for an overseas trip to Italy. It is an awesome bag. The coffee brown is very stylish. It has great support. The panel between the laptop compartment and back pads has a slightly stiff material that protects and helps to distribute the weight. The quality is excellent and it has tons of compartments to store and organize all of your stuff. Love it!

I ordered this bag after doing lots of research and watching Youtube reviews on various different NorthFace bags. I wanted a bag that had lots of room and lots of storage space.

I finally came on the Surge 2. It has ample room with lots of pockets here and there to put all you needs. I do not think I will use the lap top compartment but you can fit some clothes in there.

This item arrive early but damaged and dirty !!! It was some kind of dirt ( or damage ) that is impossible to clean . And the water bottle arrived broken ( the lid and even the bottle ) . I am sure it is going to be fun to play with for few days but I am sure it is going to be broken soon . It is very cheap item . Also They were saying it is on sale for 14.99 etc but it arrived with original K-mart price tag with 14.99 price !!! Also the back pack stripes cannot be resized and when you use the handle and wheels ( so you move it on the floor ) , the shoulder stripes are touching the floor , so they r going to be damaged and dirty soon !!! HORRIBLE ITEM !! it was suppose to be a gift and now I have to run to buy something else last minute . And I dont have time for that , thats why I bought it online !!!

Soon after purchasing this backpack for my granddaughter, the zipper was not working, and this was not due to overloading. There was also a hole that appeared on the outside pocket, but that could be due to her pulling it with her, but I would think the zipper would still be working.

We got this set for my daughter for preschool, she's still a little young but seems to like it. Its big enough to hold a change of clothes, some pullups and a folder with room on some days for the lunch bag to still fit in side. The lunch bag is perfect side for her lunches. Very happy.

I had my bow with me works great holding everything together. Have not tried with a rifle yet, but has some nice straps to secure your rifle. It got banged up and did not rip or break. Finally got the daypack in and I'm very excited! Only reason for the 4 stars is because I haven't had a chance to use it out in the field yet. Definitely has lots of room and fits everything I need to take and some! Seems to be very sturdy and I can't feel the weight on my shoulders by how the weight is distributed, but won't really know until I have to haul meat on it. As a flight attendant I travel through airport security often and have not gotten a single scratch on my precious MBP while protected securely inside the BUILT neoprene sleeve. I need to use this bag awhile to give a thorough review, but since there aren't any reviews so far, I thought I'd share some initial impressions. The good: outside appears sturdy to deal with commuting; nice clips and decent should pad on the strap; convenient outside pocket w/ 3 pen holders, a plastic carabiner clip and small pocket; backbackpack straps pack nicely into a zipped compartment; and inside size/padding are sufficient to hold 15.4 laptop and other electronic essentials. A plus is that a backpack strap or the shoulder strap can be clipped to carry as a messenger bag (left or right). I'm a long-distance commuter on public transportation, so my major disappointment is that the designers apparently failed to measure a typical water bottle. Both outside bottle holders are much too small, and I question whether the mesh will hold up. The inside pockets are made using a thinner fabric. Hard to say whether they'll rip and fray with use. As an FYI, I'm a 5'9" female and find the approx 16" height of the bag on the edge of being too tall to comfortably wear cross-body in front (my preferred for commuting). The thinner vertical profile is nice for wearing on the back, especially compared to bulkier backpack bags. The three stars is because the exterior bottle holders were the only reason for my purchase of this particular bag.

This backpack is absolutely superb. I take it for my longer, road bike trips where I can carry the large kryptonite lock, some water (if I really need more I usually keep the hydration pack out of the backpack unless I'm hiking, my bike can carry the water I need), and food and accessories. It is an elegant solution to portable storage. It's got great ventilation so your back isn't a reservoir of sweat and it's got so many small features right that osprey stands out from the rest. This bag proved to me that they are a step-above camelbak. The hydration system is one thing, but having clever and smart design in a tight enough profile where it doesn't completely shatter my aerodynamics on a bike is an amazing feeling. The quality is great and the color is very tasteful. Don't hesitate to buy osprey I know I hear camelbak all the time, but giving this a chance has really shattered my perception on big brand names.

This is a great multipurpose back pack for the day excursion, either biking, running, or just a daily bag for your stuff. Love the option of removing the hydration pack very easily and using the extra space for the small 11in Macbook Air and sleeve. Keep in mind you probably won't be able to fit a larger laptop. Overall, a quality product with a "any reason guarantee" for life!

I was looking to upgrade to a bigger bag from my trusty Tamrac Velocity 7x and narrowed it down to the Kata and the Zuma 9. In the end I went with the Zuma due to cost (and a deal at the time).
