Nylon Drawstring Mesh Tote Bag - Black

When I ordered this "mesh tote bag", I looked at the others online that were clearly described as a mesh drawstring backpack and that is not what I wanted. The picture of this one isn't quite like the others (which clearly showed the drawstring backpack design), so I presumed it would have the drawstring handles at the top instead of forming a backpack. Both the price and shipping were less (shipping could have been free!) on the other backpack styles but since that's not what I really wanted, I opted for 2 of these. I received them today. Well, much to my disappointment, they're the mesh backpacks. Considering how expensive the shipping was, it won't be worth returning. The bag itself is fine, seems okay quality and will function as designed just wasn't what I really wanted nor expected.

I purchased the Alps Outdoor Z Commander w/ Freighter frame pack along with a Kelty Cache Hauler. I have to say that this frame is very good quality and strong. I was very pleased and surprised at the quality of the pack. It also has a ton of space.

Compared with the Kelty I listed, the Alps is quite a bit larger. The frame is heavy and the pack solid. The frame is different than the Kelty but with minor differences. The Kelty pack is much heavier fabric and has metal arms to support the pack shelf instead of heavy nylon straps. The Kelty however is quite a bit smaller.

Honestly, If I knew that the quality of the Alps pack and frame were this good, I would have purchased two and saved some coin. The Kelty is $97.00 more than the Alps. I am disapointed with the Kelty. It has a short frame and pack, and it sells for around $220.00

If you want a bunch of room,a well built pack, and a solid frame for packing, at a great price , buy the Alps.

I own a MOLLE II GEN4 Pack, An Eberlestock V90 Battleship, An ILBE MAIN RUCK, a Large Franken-MALICE, A USGI CFP-90. A Camelbak BFM and a Motherlode (and a few others, truth) ... Now ... I am still evaluating these packs and the ILBE was nearly $300, new ... The Eberlestock V90 was $400 (OUCH!) ...

... I honestly cannot guarantee that this pack will meet all of YOUR requirements ... But I am confident that, for the price, it is the FIRST pack you should purchase and evaluate because I could have saved over $800 if I had found this pack BEFORE buying others. The ILBE is "worth it" but is very heavy and is not optimal ... The Eberlestock V90 is just way over-priced and ain't "all that" ... a good pack, but not **THAT** good".

This pack is really two packs in one (BOTH, at the same time, BTW) ... You can strap a large duffle or a 90 (plus) liter kayak dry-bag or even a quartered deer or a full gerry-can or a stack of 5-gallon buckets, using the cargo-shelf, in conjunction with the provided cargo straps. The ruck portion can fold up and out of the way or can be quickly and easily removed. So can the separate accesory "wings", which have pockets for critical gear. There is a dedicated, elastisized retainer-pocket for a rifle butt (along with upper cynch straps) ... This is a really versatile and light-weight pack that even comes with 3 cargo strap extensions.

Cons: Design employs split-rings to retain the mounting and adjustment pins ... Cotter-type spring-pins (with retention-notches) would be much better but are cheap and easy to source. ALSO ... My friend said that HIS Commander frame was overly squeaky and made too much noise ... He said it bugged him. I do not intend to use this pack in a scout-sniper role and I am not noticing anything much worse than full ALICE noise.

I seriously doubt that you will regret this purchase. NO OTHER decent cargo-frame can do so much for anywhere near this price. Truly gives much of the capability of a Kifaru or Mystery-Ranch cargo rig, at a tiny fraction of the cost.

Do this ... You can always drop $400 to $700 to upgrade, later (LoL!).

SPECOPS ? ... You can afford to pay seven times this price ... Go for it !

CLEARLY AND WITHOUT ANY DOUBT, THIS PACK SYSTEM IS WAY SUPERIOR TO MY CFP-90 OR MY MALICE CARGO RIG OR MY MOLLE II GEN4 Packs ... All those systems cost more than this one and I would quickly trade any of those, for this one ... I will keep my Eberlestock V90 and my ILBE, though ... they cost more but they are very good packs ... My Camelback BFM and the Maxpedition Condor II and FALCON II are also quite worthy (but much smaller capacity).

I like to camp and backpack in the wilderness, so I tend to carry a lot of equipment. I did a lot of research looking for a larger, more versital backpack, and once I determined that an external-frame design would meet my needs better than an internal-frame unit, I compared all the models I could find. I selected the ALPS Commander backpack and freighter frame combination. The ALPS beat them all in functionality and features.

First of all, the unit as advertised, is really two products in one. The backpack itself can be removed from the frame and the 'freighter frame' part used to carry firewood or other cargo. The shelf at the bottom is part of that functionality, as well as the side cargo pouches that are part of that configuration. Since, I'm only interested in using it as a backpack I've removed the shelf (to remove weight) and moved the freighter frame pack portion to the outside of the backpack where those storage compartments can be easily accessed. That configuration provides room for more equipment and still provides access to all of the backpack compartments. I stuff it full of equipment and supplies, so it's weighs around 50 lbs. That said, it carries well, and is balanced and comfortable when setup properly.

I prefer an external frame design over an internal one because the frame can be used to strap on additonal pouches and equipment, and the frame protects the backpack when it's in contact with the ground. This keeps the pack from getting wet on damp ground or cut by sharp rocks.

Overall this is a great pack and I'm somewhat surprised it's priced as low as it is when compared to other models available with less capacity.

I was searching for a pack (frame+pack) to serve as the pack for my BOB/SHTF long term all weather survival kit. I have served 10yrs in the Army, so 1 pack to serve as my A+B bag. I have plenty of experience with the MOLLE as I have carried and rucked with one quite a lot, and have heavily modified it over the years to fit my needs, but it has proven to just be too inefficient for my intended use. I have also used the internal frame Field Pack (L), it was even more restricting, unbalanced, and quite frankly too much to purchase.

So upon receiving this, it came decently packed, but in a box that was too big IMO, everything was in order. So I sat down on the couch to get familiar with the pack, adjusting for fit, removing it from the frame and reassembling it. This immediately exposed the first highly needed modification. The cotter pins that hold the pack together have a "spring-loop" much like a key chain that hold the cotter pins. There are 18 of them in total if you want to disassemble the frame. 10 if you want to remove the pack to haul game or wood or what not. If this was attempted in frigid temperatures, I think it would create a big problem once your fingers started loosing dexterity from the cold. I opt to swap out all the of the cotter pins with "lock pins" or "snapper pins" for a quick release method that could be done with gloves on with an added advantage of not having to ever worry about losing one of those "spring-loops". This upgraded cost about $32 to replace all the pins on the bag which is still under the Kelty version of this bag by a large margin!

This is an expedition size pack, there is no getting around that, the frame is large, and it extends vertically with adjustment. When I loaded up this bag which included my Rem 700 30-06, Rug 10/22 Take Down mounted on the opposite side with all my other gear (full gear list to survive for years to include snowshoes) it was 93 lb. This is a lot of weight, but it carried it well, and balanced well. I purposely tested the weight with a 30min walk, and though it was heavy. I didn't have any strange pressure points developing..very good sign! I have not had a chance to field test the bag, but the motto "If you take care of your equipment, it will take care of you" has always stood true with everything I have owned.

I really like the design of the frame, and now going through the process to allow the frame to convert into a sled utilizing the existing cotter holes, so that I can pull my cargo at times (like when there is a significant amount of snow on the ground) rather than carry it. If you've ever pack-carried a field dressed elk out in deep snow, you'd rather pull it than carry it...especially considering the load rating on snowshoes if you have them.

All-in-all, its an excellent pack for the money, and if you're looking for an expedition size pack that is versatile and won't break the bank, consider this one!

I spent a good amount of time researching backpacks for camping and kept going back and forth between internal/external frame, different makes/models... all depending on the price. I didn't want to spend over $70ish but after looking more into the ALPS Commander (reading reviews, watched a youtube video of a guy unboxing it etc) & mostly being able to load up my rifle plus the frame aspect of having a tray that could be used in bunch of different ways, I said okay.. and bought it. First of all, it arrived very quick (2days cause I signed up for Amazon Prime's 30 free trial) and once I got it out of the box, it took a little bit for me to get it setup correctly cause the bag portion can come completely off the frame and you can adjust the belt etc (also the frame came with two canvas sides w/ pockets so I tried to get it all worked in etc).. I loaded it up with all my gear, rifle and was also able to get my bow & arrows (the bow breaks down) right next to the rifle and in the little rifle stock holder that comes with the Commander bag(so there's plenty of room for all that and you can expand the straps to make more room). After loading it all up, and I mean all my camping gear.. including a 3 person tent (that tray works great for all sorts of things!!), extra blankets, tarp, ax, shovel, stove, knives, ammo, fishing tackle gear, mess gear, & food (basically all the other things I would normally bag up separately), I lifted it and thought okay maybe I went overboard cause by then it got pretty heavy, until I buckled up the hip belt and then all the weight came right off my shoulders. In short, I'm extremely impressed with this bag and its quality. I took it out last weekend and was just amazed that in the back of my truck everything I needed was all in one place, inside this bag. After three days and two nights out, it stood up great and this is a bag that I believe will last me a long time to come. The zippers work real good too.. my only concern is with the plastic buckles but that's with most bags these days. I put mine to the test pretty good and had no issue with the buckles.. though I'd imagine in time they'll probably break at one time or another.. good thing is that it came with three extra straps for using on the frame, so I take those with me for just in case. I was pretty hesitant to spend over $100 for a "backpack" but now, I'm glad I did.. this ALPS Commander is more than just a bag though, I see that now and the quality is well worth the money.

I would highly recommend this to anyone with a 17 inch laptop! I have a 17" Toshiba and was having a hard time finding a bag or a sleeve to fit it. I even took my laptop to Best Buy to try things out and the bags (shoulder or backpack) were either ginormous or didn't fit, and the sleeves were not easy to use. This sleeve is PERFECTnice and snug, I don't have to worry about zippers scratching the laptop or breaking. It does have a bit of a smell to it but it will fadedefinitely NOT a reason to not buy this! Hope this review helps you make a decision!

This a good product. I gave it 4 stars only because I just received it. It fits my Gateway NV perfectly. I like it so far, but I'll check back after a couple of weeks.

I have used this sleeve everyday for 6 months. There are no visible signs of wear n tear and it protects my my laptop which has a glossy top. ( I'd like to keep it that way.) I usually go by the reviews on Amazon on any item that I purchase and I must say that everyone who gave this a positive review at the time that I was checking it out; they were "right on". I liked it when I first received it and 6 months later I am even more impressed. There is a pungent rubbery smell but it disappears after a short period. I still say " Get It "!!

This is my final extended review on this item. I'm writing this on February 4th, 2011. One whole year since I first bought and reviewed this computer sleeve. I use this item every day and It works as well as when I first got it and it has done a great job protecting my laptop. It's basic, not fancy; but man is it tough. Every day, 24/7 for a whole year, People. I still say, after a year, "Get it".

First of all this thing fits my 17" widescreen gateway p-7811fx laptop perfectly.

The catch is, it smells bad, like burn plastic or something similar.

Love this iPad sleeve. Very vibrant in color and even almost iridescent! I been looking for a peacock sleeve that would be realistic and not "cartoony" or faded. BlackHawk 3-Day Assault Backpack Black Soft 6"X13"X20" 603D00BK

I just went on a month long solo trip in Europe and Morocco with this backpack, because I heard great things about it on a travel website. I'm so glad I made this purchase. First, the color, all black is perfect because it soaks up stains and doesn't draw attention, so it's not a likely thing to get stolen. It's also very heavy duty. The zippers held up perfectly, and the straps were actually very comfortable. The best thing of all is the size. It's small enough to use as a carry on baggage, which means you don't have to waste time checking baggage or picking it up at the airport. Yet somehow, for being a a carry on bag, the amount of stuff that fits in there is amazing. I had two pairs of pants, five shirts, 8 pairs of socks and 7 pairs of underwear, along with a 10 inch netbook laptop in it's own day pack. All of it fit into the backpack, with some room left over. I'm stil not sure how that all fit. Basically, if you want a good, sturdy, reliable travel pack, pick this one.

I bought this for my husband because I got tired of constantly buying him backpacks and they rip within a couple of months of him having them. Well he has this backpack for a year and it is still going strong with not even a rip or tear. I wish I had thought about this years ago and I could have saved me some money.

Therm-a-Rest Gear-View Dry Sack

Let me open this review by saying I am a trifle biased. I like Therm-a-rest products. As a backpacker and camper, I find them to be some of the best products in my pack. This gear Sack is no exception. It is extremely well constructed, it has the roll-down and lock top that Therm-a-rest does so well, and the addition of the see-through panel makes it easy to identify your gear and grab the right stuff sack. I don't know why everyone doesn't add this to their gear sacks!

However, I would be remiss to not mention a couple things about this that bug me. For instance, when is large too large? When you first unfurl this giant, you will be taken aback. At over two feet long, it is easily large enough for almost anything you want to put into it, heck, I can probably fit a couple cats in it ... not that I would have any use for cats on the trail ... maybe a couple small dogs? Anyways ... I initially bought this to hold a new sleeping mat (the Therm-a-rest trail lite) and realized that there would be a LOT of excess space around it. As I started to think of other things to add to the sack, I realized that because of its narrow diameter, its utility for other items to be added to the sack would be limited. I have also looked at using it for clothing inside my pack and will probably use it for that and order this sack's smaller version for my mat. Also, if filled, it is too large to be secured to the outside of your pack in a graceful manner, and any pack smaller than 75L is too small to carry this unless you don't fill it all the way and really roll the top down.

Be warned ... when stuffing this sack, you will be tempted to keep adding things to it because it has more room, but remember that it has to go INSIDE your backpack.

Take the time to measure out your mattress or your sleeping pad so that you know if this will fit or not. I had a sleeping pad that was 26" wide and about 6-7" diameter, so I got the large dry sack. After the top lid of this case is snapped shut, it fit flawlessly, and it's water proof.

I just wish that therm-a-rest would have included this with the sleep systems. Why make it a separate order? Other than that, this is a good case for a good product, so that I can take my therm-a-rest backpacking.

I had been looking for a back-pack purse for several months and was very happy when I found this bag. I was happy with the price when I found this one and ordered. Unfortunately, I have had it less than a month and one of the shoulder straps has completely torn out of the purse. The tread around the plastic edging is also wearing away in spots. I am not hard on purses. I had the last one for four years of nearly continual use before it fell apart. Disappointed.

Tenba 632-201 Shootout Waistpack (Olive/Black)

Upon arrival of this bag, I noticed that it seemed much better made than many bags you find at walmart or other big box stores. In making my purchase decision, I looked over the Tenba website, and found that the bag matching this product description had many great features not mentioned on the amazon webpage such as a rain hood and velcro on the bottom for tripod attachment. If you look very closely, the product shown on the inset pictures of the Tenba website do not match the large pictures. Also, there are 6 large pictures that do not even match themselves. Pictures 1 and 6 are of the bag shown in the inset smaller pictures under the "features" tab:

Pictures 3 and 4 of the larger pictures are display the product if you order from Amazon, which I have. The differences between the two products are as follows:

-Missing rain hood aka Weatherwrap

-Missing tripod straps on bottom

-Missing magazine pocket to unzip so you can slide it over the luggage/cart handles

-Side handles for which can be used to attach the media wallet and phone/music pouch are on the thick waist strap, not on the bag. There are no side handles on the bag itself.

I have put in a request to Amazon to verify all their stock is missing the above features, and they took a few days, but have agreed it is missing said features from the Tenba website. I have put in two email requests to the Tenba website, non of which have been answered. If support is an issue for you, please look to another manufacturer.

All bad things aside, I will keep this bag because I have made my own attachment for the tripod to this bag, and because I shouldn't be walking around in the rain for the type of photography I do and have decided to put a regular umbrella with the trip attached to the bottom of the bag in case I find myself walking around without cover. The zippers are rubberized, and I will spray it with a "waterproofing" spray that is designed for sports shoes, I've sprayed all my bags with it, works great.

The pockets are good for organizing equipment, they are well laid out. I would like the inside to be yellow like an "Ape Case" or Kata bag. I can fit a D90, 18-55mm attached to body, 50mm 1.8, 55-200mm and two SB600's in the main pouch, in a snug but not too right fashion. The side pockets have a lens cleaner kit, two Hoya filters in their case, ML3 wireless trigger, hot shoe attachment for SB600s, spare batteries, and there are 3 dedicated pockets for memory cards along with the included memory wallet which holds 6 cards (and is cheaply made,I'm not using mine). If you have a "full format" DSLR or have a battery grip, I may not recommend it without handling the bag first to be sure things will fit.

Without getting too creative, the movable dividers divide the main compartment into 4 pockets, two large and two small. I do not have any pro lenses, so mine fit ok, but I could imagine 62mm,77mm, 82mm glass will either be tight, or not fit at all; again, handle the bag first if possible.

Lastly, the main reason I purchased this bag is because I knew I would not have a large kit to carry around, but wanted something to take weight off my shoulders, and this does this very well. I haven't hiked a mile carrying all my gear yet, but it feels great. Using the included shoulder strap, it does not bounce while walking, for me. If you walk through crowded places, I would worry about bumping into things because it does stick out a little. Overall, great bag, just wish it was matching the one on the Tenba website 632-201 and that the company would respond to any of my emails.

I hate trying to hike with a small digital SLR around my neck bouncing off my chest and my digital video camera in one hand as I try to keep my balance on narrow rocky trails. I have tried to carry an over the shoulder camera bag, but then it takes several minutes to unpack and get a camera out, and by then, the shot is lost. This waistpack can be worn backwards and frontwards allowing for easy hiking and quick access of either of my cameras. It is a bit big for a waistpack, but it has to be to hold my two cameras and give me the quick access I need.

I have 7 kids and like to take the camera every where we go. The bag is bulky. So, at parties I just put the camera around my neck. But at the zoo and like places the bag is wonderful.

I carry my Nikon D90 with the 18-200 lens, SB-400 flash, cords, battery charger, spare SD cards, and still have room for my phone, asthma inhaler, keys, and other misc items. It is very comfortable around my waist. And it has a strap to attach so you can carry it over your shoulder.

I looked and compared for months before deciding on this bag. I am so happy with it.

This is probably one of the most full-featured packs I have seen. Its as well made as anything I have seen and I would have loved to have used it. Love the pockets, ease of access, included small carrying case, and great construction.

Two things didn't work for me; the first is that it is very big and bulky great for shooting in the outdoors or the woods, but too conspicuous walking the streets of South Africa. The second is that is "pulls down" even with adjustments. In the end, it wasn't the right bag for me.

It came with two pouches inside the 2 side pockets. A very nice surprise. The pack is bigger than I would like. I have a Nikon D5200 with two lenses. There are lots of extract space not being use. It is almost 7 inches thick inside the main compartment and made it extended from the waist too far. Reduce the thickness by 2 inches will be perfect. All the zippers need improvement they are hard to zip. There are two zippers from the each of the 2 end pockets to the main compartment, if the zipper is not completely close, small item thing can drop from the zipper gap. The top flip open out ward away from the body, things will drop if not secure to the lid.

Tenba ShootoutTM Backpack - Medium

First off, this is a great backpack all around. I travel a lot and was looking for something to protect my gear and this does the job. Here are the pros and cons.

Pros:

* Very Sturdy

* Rugged Material

* Lots of space

* Great straps

* Nice features that are thought out with a few exceptions

Cons:

* Sometimes a little too stiff

* Side compartments are small and access to main pack is awkward/useless

* Internal dividers are set up nice but can waste some space

* Some features are not too thought out while others are (a pro and con)

* TIGHT laptop storage

The material is very sturdy. This backpack doesn't feel like it will ever rip and I am sure it is cut resistant. Anybody trying to get at your gear will have a tough time, sometimes even you! I have a Canon 7d that I leave a EF 24-70mm F2.8 L lens attached and at first, I wanted to make it accessible through the side compartment. That is not going to happen, especially with the lens hood stored as Canon suggests. There is a flap that separates the side compartment from the main compartment that has Velcro which makes it so things do not fall into the side compartment but also makes it almost impossible to use as a quick camera access. In addition, the side zippers only open half way so there is no way you will get a bigger SLR out fast. You have to put it in so it can be accessed by the main zipper. It is still tight because the top of the bag is so thick and the zippers are tight due to the weatherproofing. A pro and a con.

I also store a 70-200mm f4.0 is L lens in the bag. The bag is pretty deep so you naturally end up stacking stuff which makes it a little hard to get to stuff but the lens is protected very well. It is not deep enough to put the lens in upright so again, it lays down with either a flash or a computer power cord on it. Not exactly a fast access to either because as the laws of the universe dictate, the thing you need will always be on the bottom.

As far as a laptop, it looks like you could store two in the compartment but don't be fooled. Again, the bag stiffness prevents two and almost makes it hard to get in one. The zipper on the compartment does not open to access the entire top so the laptop is hard in and hard out. It is very tight. I don't consider my laptop to be very big but if it were any thicker or wider, there is no way it would fit. The nice thing is, once it is in there, it is protected like you had armor around it, which is the positive theme of the bag.

A really cool thing is the cover that goes over the straps when you are not using the backpack portion. They are entirely enclosed under the zipper cover which is great for the overhead on planes. There are no straps to tuck in the overhead compartment and close in the compartment door on the plane. The cover then tucks up under a back flap to expose the straps which are very comfortable. Again, an issue is, when the backpack is loaded, it is so tight that it is actually hard to slide the cover up under the pack in its proper position. One nice thing would be to have the cover start zipping up over the bottom of the strap so you could keep one strap out to use it as a sling for carrying it in situations where you want to use one strap for fast carrying. With my previous bag, I used the one shoulder carry a lot.

The inside zipper compartments are nice but again, tight. You can't fit too much in them. Temba should have allowed a little more material but it may be so stuff does not slide around. B+W filters in cases are actually tight in the compartments. They do have a great feature which is they zipper open/closed from both sides, left and right so there is no digging around in them.

I don't want to sound negative on the pack, it is an incredible bag. Like I mentioned in the pros, it is super tough. You can tell they spared no expense with the water proofing. I would have no problem caught in a downpour with this thing. Your gear is VERY well protected which is most important to me. When you have over 5k sitting in a bag, you don't want it to be unprotected. I am sure the gear inside could survive small falls.

Would I recommend the bag. Simply put, yes. I don't think the "perfect" bag exists. It can't because if you are like me, you want something magical that defies the laws of physics. I want to be able to put 50 pounds of gear including a tripod in a very small pack and in the end, have it weigh 10 pounds. It is not going to happen. With no magical pack available, this is the closest you will come if you want to carry a lot of stuff and have it well protected from the elements, the occasional drop, the elements and the opportunistic person that wants your gear. Overall, good job Temba for trying to satisfy us semi-pros that want it all. I would buy this again.

Just like the previous review, I considered going with the large bag but definitely changed my mind when I got this one. It's the perfect size to hold all my gear, laptop and still have room.

As far as laptops go, it will hold some 17" laptops. My toshiba satellite 17" fits (tight, but I like that because it feels secure). My girlfriends 17" Dell doesn't quite make it because it has the 9 cell battery that sticks out an extra half inch on the bottom baking it too thick to fit.

Without the laptop in it, I'm comfortable carrying the bag for quite a while. Would be a great bag to take hiking. For me, I don't use the "shoot-out" zips on the side, just because I find it awkward reaching behind me for a lens; and the last thing I want to do is drop any of my precious lenses.

The weather resistant zippers are a little tight at first use, but they get easier to use without any noticeable reduction in water resistance. For rainy days, the built in all weather cover is great, completely covering the bag. And another thing I didn't realize before I got the bag, it has a flap (tucks away when not in use) that completely zips around the backpack straps making the entire bag slick without straps dangling everywhere. I find this particularly useful when moving moving the bag to the car (so the buckles don't scratch up the paint) and storing the bag at home (so the straps aren't there to trip over.

All in all an excellent bag and I'd highly recommend it to anybody looking for one that can hold as much gear as it does.

I purchased this bag to hold all of my camera gear for college and couldn't be happier with it! I was a little worried while waiting for it to arrive that I should have went with the large model but as soon as it got here I changed my mind. This bag is VERY well built and sturdy with loads of storage space. To give you an idea on how much it holds I can store my Canon 5D, 16-35mm f/2.8L II, 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, my 580EX flash, multiple filters, cords, brushes, and my laptop supplies and I still have about half the bag left to fill. It is also very comfortable to carry around and distributes the weight very well, all in all I would definitely buy this product again and I highly recommend it!

I just picked up my first really long lens 70-200 2.8 nikkor and have woken up in a new world as far as storage goes. Between air travel and enjoying outdoor photography I want a backpack no reason to have a tack sharp lens to walk around town you want to take little photo-safari's.

So I'm reading about a lot of packs some from naneau pro look nice but they're not in stock and not carried at local dealers. Lowe pro has some good ones too but the ones they have big enough for a longer lens are either too big or don't have a laptop sleeve.

The Tenba bag is a big bag you watch the video and it looks pretty small. The thing that hits me is that the insert is equally tall all the way around obvious if you want to carry two bodies, but I only have one body and would like to carry something besides camera stuff in my bag for travel I like to go light and carry everything on. This thing won't go under the seat and I'm concerned about being tagged with two carry on items as large as this thing is.

It's going to be a challenge to fit this in a turbo-prop overhead but you can use the compression straps to slim down the top of the bag if you remove one of the vertical ribs and turn that horizontal. The point is that this bag is so wide that I can turn my camera with 20-700 mounted horizontally and make the top of the bag mine for stuff. Hopefully that will help me fit it in the overhead. Fingers crossed, cause I'm not about to check $$$$$ worth of camera and computer equipment.

You know, there is no perfect backpack that I've seen. It seems like at this size, everyone assumes you are going to have so much crap that you're going to dedicate your bag to photography alone. For those of you like me that want something non-descript to avoid the watchful eye of thieves, have enough space for gear and more, have some weather proofing options and some really nice waist belt padding (which as a long-time hiker is really appreciated) you're going to have a hard time finding a better option.

Four stars for matching my needs, but five stars when compared with what else is out there.

I was searching for a backpack that matched my specs. -specs I had developed before starting my hunt. I wanted a simple and balanced tripod attachment system. Also preferred having a removeable insert and definitely needed the hip belt. I needed to support a two camera system with lenses and flashes.

When I reviewed each of the major brands none of them had all my requirements. Most seemed a little too small, few had removeable inserts and a number of them did not have good enough padded hip belts.

Then, I came across the Tenba range of bags and they are just about perfect for my needs. There are however a couple minor complaints.

1. The insert allows access via the side pockets. I can see no real practical purpose for this "feature" as I'm not going to feel my way through retrieving a valuable lens that way. As a result of this feature, the bottom section cannot be divided up using the velcro dividers as there is no outer wall of the insert in this location. This means for me the space remains about right for a 70-200 2.8 lens but cannot be further divided to take a couple flashes or smaller lenses.

2. I wasn't happy with the lack of practical media/power management. I continue to use a couple tamrac battery/media wallets to keep those items organised.

3. Lack of D rings on the backpack straps. They should have allowed a way to attach an SLR to these straps to keep one camera locked and loaded during lighter hikes.

Having said all that, this bag is as close to perfection as if I'd designed it exactly to my own specification. I also have Tamrac shoulder bags so using their battery management wallets is practical for me.

The removeable raincover is great and the fact that the straps can be hidden behind a smooth cover is very practical for keeping the straps clean and out of the way when packed into airplane overhead lockers and even in the trunk of the car.

The laptop compartment hold the laptop safely and snugly. I've fitted Acer and Dell 15" units with no problem but I feel it's a better fit for Dell 14" models.

I'd recommend this to anyone and I may even get the small unit for lighter use.

I got the Yo Gabba Gabba: Foofa 18'' Plush Backpack for my niece with the illusions of it being an actual backpack (i.e. a place where she can store a few toys, some crayons and the ilk). You can barely fit one small toy. It's more like a plush doll with the ability to store one item, which just so happens to have backpack straps. It may sound like I'm nitpicking but it was not what I expected.

I rated this product, relatively, high because my niece does love it. She takes it with her everywhere.

We went to the yo gabba gabba live show. My two year old really wanted this backpack, they were selling it at the show for $35. Loved the amazon price. I just wished the backpack had a larger compartment. It really does not hold anything, but is super cute.

So we traveled to New York from LA and took our expensive diaper bag. I carried it most of the time and my husband carried our 1 1/2 year old. By the end of the trip I was using expletives to describe the bag because it was killing my back and shoulder despite moving it from side to side. When we got home I started the search for another diaper bag that was a backpack. I found an expensive one for "Dads" but it was huge!! I found this diaper bag and was convinced by the Youtube videos showing how much stuff can fit in the bag. We have had it for about two weeks now and love it. It holds so much and the snacks we pack stay fresh. It has two main compartments. We put the diaper stuff in the back compartment and clothes and snacks in the front. The only issue is finding stuff quickly can take a few minutes.We will need to remember where we have put stuff. It does look a little funny on my husband because it is a mini backpack but he says he doesn't mind, especially since our last diaper bag had polka dots and this one is solid black. We cut the straps and burned the edges to make it have less strap material hanging down. I'm really happy for this bag for everyday. For our next trip in September we are thinking we might need the bigger backpack to pack toys for the airplane but for everyday this bag is the BEST!! Love that they threw in a free diaper changing pad and more compact wipes case. You can fill that case with plenty of wipes and the changing pad is soft enough for quick changes.

The is an awesome book bag / diaper bag! Very versatile and my hubs doesn't mind carrying it around at all!

Bag is of quality construciton. I actually returned the item because it was to small for what I needed. The customer service was great when I did choose to return the item. I attempted to put the following items in the bag: 2 Playtex Narrow Bottles, 6 diapers, wipes in the provided wipe container (Which only holds about 12 wipes). Also wanted to put additional formula in one of those Munchkin Brand three slotted containers. Other items was a blanket and a change of clothes. The Munchkin brand container and similar sized items were too wide to fit in bag.

The straps were kind of narrow as is the bag in general. Does not carry like you average back pack that you would be use to from going to school.

This little Baby pak is pretty small, so if your wanting something to cart around tons of stuff, this one wont work. But it has a lot of pockets for everything. The straps are nice quality and not flimsy. I gave this to my niece for her first baby. I wanted to give them one that a man wouldnt mind carrying. She said when she showed it to her husband and asked him if he liked it he took it out of her hand and said, "This ones mine, you can get your own." But its still cute and has the cute little baby emblem on it, so it still looks like a diaper bag and not just a little black backpack.

JanSport Superbreak Colorblock Classics Series Daypack

Be careful to always check the backpack capacity when ordering online. 1550 cu inches is a medium capacity and may not function well for anyone past the 6th grade, but it's perfect for my 3rd grader.

On to the product. When I opened the box, my first impression of this item was not good at all. I'll break this down into the different parts of the backpack:

Material: The material is much thinner than I expected. I have my doubts on whether it will hold up over time.

Sturdiness: I also was unhappy that there was no type of support on/in the base of the bag. That and the flimsy material result in the bag constantly falling over unless it's packed full of books. It certainly won't stand on its own when empty either, unless stuffed full of tissues (like the impression the product page image gives).

Padding: The padding is another poor spot for me. The foam in the straps is pretty firm and I'm not sure if you wouldn't be just as good without it altogether. The padding on the back of the bag doesn't even run the width of the bag! If you look at the product images, the pad stops where the straps are (about 2" from the sides), so if you carry the pack over one shoulder you'll most likely have books poking you.

Construction/Design: The stitching and zipper on the bag are it's only redeeming qualities for me. The nylon zippers are pretty beefy and probably the same used on more expensive JanSport products. There are NO additional pockets other than the large one on the front. This definitely limits your ability to keep things organized.

Value: Poor. This isn't what I would expect from a JanSport product. I paid $28 for the purple bag for my son. There were a few other colors a little less expensive, but that's about the average price and as usual, Amazon had the best price. This replaced a 2 yr old Transformers backpack that frankly was better made and purchased at a discount brick and mortar for half the price. Whether or not it lasts as long remains to be seen. The only reason I've given it at least 2 stars is because it hasn't been tested yet. I will post an update after the bag has some miles on it.

All of my kids have used Jansport backpacks for years. They are great, durable and light weight. I would say this size is good for up to 6th or 7th grade. Although my 8th grader crams in alot and has maxed out it's capacity and it is still going strong. I've never had to use Jansport's lifetime warranty. Cute backpacks too!

This backpack is thin but durable. It's not made for carrying multiple heavy books but for someone who doesn't carry much. The colors are great and I've gotten many compliments on it. A very good purchase.
