TYR Alliance Team II Backpack
Picked up this backback as an emergancy replacement for an old PING duffle I was using after my morning shake decided to empty istelf all over the inside this morning, WHOOPS!
I decided to purchase a backpack and a seperate "wet" bag for my kickboard, pull buoy, etc.
Now to preface my review here I am an absolute bag snob. I used to skate, I used to and am now swimming, I ride motorcycles, I am into gadgets, and cameras, and video cameras, etc. etc. After acquiring the gear for all of these various activites I have learned what makes a good bag and what does not.
First and foremost for any bag purchase is comfort, position, and quality of the straps. If the strap breaks off then it doesnt matter how roomy or how many pockets a bag has. Thankfully this bag has you covered; an integrated grab handle, lightly gel cushioned straps with chest clips and a d-ring, a nylon waist strap with adjustable clip, and two seperate gel cushion for both the upper and lower back provide a comfortable and customizable fit for just about anyone. There is a "cellphone" holder integrated onto the chest straps but unless your rocking an oldschool nokia from the turn of the century then this pocket will most likely not fit your cell; especially any sort of smartphone or even a damn moto razor (to wide). I will most likely lobotomize this useless appendage as well as the waist strap which I appreciate but rarely use. One negative I can give the bag is the use of single stitching on the straps; from my days lugging around heavy skates I can tell you that double or even triple stitching is the way to go on backback straps but only time will tell if this will be a problem.
Secondary to the way a bag attaches to the user is the space and features it provides and here this bag falls terribly short. There is a divider in the main compartment but it cant fit a TYR kickboard so Im guessing its either for a laptop or just for seperation yet either of those features is unwarrented in a gym bag. The compartment for storing shoes comes up from the bottom via an externally accessible pocket and works as advertised however the goggles saver pouch and music player pockets described above do not. The pocket for the music player is a pocket inside a pocket with no grommet to feed your headphone cables through making it worthless, and why would you put an electric device into a pocket with wet goggles?? I would suggest using the cellphone pocket on the main straps but once again its to narrow for a modern ipoh touch, classic, iphone, zune, etc. although it might fit a nano. Hanging a suit from the caribiners would drag your garments across the floor behind you so, although they look useful for other things, I think the marketing department was more involved with their purposing then the engineering team. The last two pockets are on either side of the bag and can hold 2 bottle of water each however they are zippered pockets, why there is no drawstring style bottle holder is an absolute mystery to me.
All in all the bag is sufficiently large to dump your cheange of clothes into and force into a gym locker but I cant help but feel that TYR needs to release a version 3.0 to really make this bag worth it for your average swimmers day to day needs.I have been searching for a Triathlon Transition bag for a while, but didn't want to spend anywhere near $100 and luckily I found this bag.
It doesn't have an over abundance of little pockets but I like that. The pockets it does have are large enough so you can really fit everything in there and not have to wonder where you put things.
I took it this weekend for a race and had the following inside with plenty of room: wetsuit, cycle shoes, running shoes, helmet, socks, towels (2x hand towel size), sunscreen (spray can and smaller one), electrical tape, body glide, nutrition, 4 water bottles, flip flops, spare tubes, air cartridges, and on the out side of the bag it has 2 clips where I attached my visor.
You can't ask more out of a transition bag.

Outstanding product, rain or shine. I use it for a triathlon bag and it holds all of the gear and I attach the helmet to the outside rigging. My daughter wanted this backpack for swimming she has a lot of gear she has to carry around, before she has this pack she carried 3 bags now it all fits in one she uses it for swim team and track. This bag is perfect for a swimmer, and clearly designed by someone who knows what's needed. It's roomy, with plenty of pockets, which makes it easy to store both wet and dry things at the same time. It is well made and durable, so will hold up well whether sitting on the deck inside or out. I expect it will last for years, even with daily use.Friday, May 23, 2014

I only use a backpck when traveling and this is perfect! The color doesn't show spots and the dark brown trim adds style.
The overal size and style with the extra pockets outside and the inside zipper is great. Its a good packpack, however when it came the side pocket zippers are broken & are stuck in the middle, if you try to unzip it it will come undone. I don't feel like going through the return mess so I'm just not going to use them. Everything else is good though.

High Sierra A.T. Ultimate Access Wheeled Duffel with Backpack Straps Blue Yonder/Tungsten/Black
The front pocket is ideal for smaller things that aren't breakable. The zippers and zips are of excellent workmanship and are some of the strongest I have seen and consider they will last for a long time with proper care. The actual zippers are made from some type of strong metal that is designed with hard wear and tear in mind and I really liked this as when you inspect the bag you can tell there has been high attention to detail. All the zippers can be locked and being so strong and well-designed I consider they would deter most would be thieves if locked securely with proper travel locks.
The material is very light weight yet durable and the colour looks really good. The material will cope with all types of weather conditions and could be easily cleaned if needed. The main compartment is made with durable material that should last a while if cared for correctly. The wheels are strong and the back straps are well designed and I think it would be easy to carry a heavy load. The telescopic handle feels solid and I don't see them breaking though in comparison to Paklite bags the telescopic handle isn't as solid and I think High Sierra could do have done better but this isn't a major issue.
The duffle carry straps are made from sturdy velcro material and grip well/easily together and I think the velcro should wear well. Overall I chose this bag because it is quality and that is simply put. When you compare this bag to an Antler duffle bag you may think it doesn't compete but it does for sure. This bag comes with a 5 year warranty and the Antler includes a 5 or 10 year warranty but to buy an Antler would cost about $130.00 or more Australian dollars so I think they compare well.
I also compared this bag to a Paklite wheeled duffle (origin and adventure) that included about 70 litres of space but that bag had pieces of material/webbing on the outside I think would get easily damaged in flight and the frame was also narrower. I consider if you travelled with the High Sierra AT2500 26" Wheeled Duffle with Backstraps you wouldn't have any problems.I got this bag because I was traveling a lot with the whole Wounded Warrior thing, and do not get around like I used to. This has provided me with a bag large enough to hold all my clothes and other items that I was living with while hospitalized. When I traveled in the airport, this allowed me to easily roll along for great distance with my limited mobility. I have had the bag for four months, and would like to say, "it does everything it is supposed to and does it very well." If you need a durable, versatile, and well made duffle bag then this is a good choice.I used this bag for my checked luggage from Tennessee to Australia. It held up well and was very spacious. I would recommend it.I've taken it on all my travels since purchasing. It is strong, durable, and the 3 different ways to use it are great!!! (backpack, wheels, handle)
Cramer Decker M6 / M9 Cylinder Backpack
Today I received notice from Cramer Decker Medical that they have not had a bag sold on Amazon in over a year so when you see this same bag come up in your search on Amazon, be forewarned -you WILL NOT GET THE BAG ADVERTISED HERE. Check it out all the other listing for this bag are from the one and same MEDICAL DEPARTMENT STORES. It took me over a month and countless emails and calls to Amazon to finally get a credit (not a refund, mind you) that came through the Amazon A-Z Guarantee. The credit was NOT from Medical Department Stores they fought my claim that the item received was not the same as described.
I am disappointed that Amazon would allow this to take place on their website and allow them to simply set up a fresh sales page to avoid the negative reviews on the other sales page for the purpose of selling the same sham product. The quality of the product is fine. My gripe is that the thing is way to large for a M6 cylinder and I have to unzip it to check O2 levels in the tank. I wanted something that would hold the tank tightly, have a view port to check O2 level remaining and could be worn without a great deal of flopping around when adjusted correctly. I would buy another from these same people but it would have to be a dedicated M6 tank backpack only

Case Logic DLBP-116 16-Inch Laptop Backpack (Black)
In terms of size, it is somewhere between the monster packs that allow you to tote around many college textbooks and the dainty packs that just fit a laptop. You can probably get away with fitting in two big textbooks, along with a chunky laptop and accessories. I also keep an umbrella inside and it fits perfectly. The many pockets are arranged well to maximize the space, too. A padded pocket is included for glasses or scratchable gear and there are drink pockets on the side that also work for pens or thumb drives -anything small that might be a pain to dig around for in the big pockets.
I've waited a long time to do this review, waiting for a zipper to pull off or a strap to shred, but it still looks new. I think it is fair to say that Case Logic makes products that are hit or miss. This is a hit.
Edit: Just wanted to note that the felt padded pocket perfectly fits the 3DS. It's a nice way to carry it around for Streetpass. First off, this backpack will keep your laptop and various peripherals intact. There is a great amount of protection built it. There are, as others have noted, some pockets for other small things that you may wish to carry. However, this backpack is a very poor choice for anyone who wants to carry anything substantial, other than a laptop. Mostly I'm thinking of students. A lot of students (like myself) carry a laptop and a lot of books to class everyday and there's just not enough room for what I need to bring with me. There are other alternatives with more storage for big items (Jan Sport and Victorinox both have good options), so I would recommend looking elsewhere.
If all you're looking to do is carry a laptop and a few small things, I would additionally caution you that the design is very boxy and unappealing from an aesthetic standpoint. It's just kind of bland, square, and unimpressive. Yes, this probably isn't a big factor to everyone, but it will be to some people. With such elegant options out there, Case Logic should have stepped up their game.
Finally, contrary to the other rave reviews, I don't expect this to hold up to much stress. I have a Victorinox backpack made of ballistic nylon with triple-stitched seams. It has taken a beating, but is still going strong ten years later. This Case Logic backpack has no real reinforcement. Best case scenario, the backpack lasts until your laptop is out of date (i.e. a year or two). It just doesn't look like it's ready for the sustained abuse of real life.
Overall, this backpack will keep your laptop safe. It succeeds at its fundamental task. I just don't feel like it's a very strong contender with the wealth of available options that do exactly the same thing, but better.

Life is Good!Without this selection from Vine, I would probably never have gotten myself a backpack like this. While I have a laptop, I seldom, have almost never, taken it out of the house with me. Additionally, I guess I always felt that these things were for kids and yuppie-types (imagine)! (I'm 63, by the way!)
Now, things have Changed! I LOVE this pack, and it has been "traveling" with me a lot since my U**man delivered it! It's so much more fun now to go to the coffeeshop(s) and use wifi to surf and work, and also when I visit the library....I cannot believe what I have been missing out on for the easy availability that I could have had to check things while I have been away from home!
As others here have noted, there are certainly pockets enough for just about anything you would with to "have with you". While I wear glasses, so don't ever carry sunglasses, I do need computer glasses, and so even that pocket is great for me and serves a very useful purpose.
I cannot gripe about anything regarding this product. It is light, it is 100% totally functional for anything that I could possibly imagine anyone would want to use it for from the gym, school, trips to the mall or wherever, even an afternoon on a bench in the park with lunch and a drink and a book you've brought with you, and if it gets cooler, you could put on your sweater or lightweight jacket you packed "just in case"!
This is easily one of the handiest and most useful/practical acquisitions to have entered my house and life in a very very long time.
You will not be disappointed with this well-made, durable, and lightweight pack.

Price wise this is a good backpack, but not a good backpack for a laptop. There is zero padding in the bottom of this pack and a small amount against the laptop on the inside. If you were to drop this pack with a laptop in it, there is no protection. It's a good pack for books or any small items, but I wouldn't haul around a piece of equipment you care about when flying, as it offers no protection. Now I knew the price was a great deal, and it's obvious why, since it really is just a backpack for non breakable items.Want Case Logic DLBP-116 16-Inch Laptop Backpack (Black) Discount?
PROS:Plenty of room for the laptop, accessories, and even a change of clothes or two. LOTS of pockets for extra storage.
Nicely padded at impact points. I put my reading glasses in the upper pocket and they came along for the ride just fine. Good padding at the bottom of the laptop compartment means a snug fit for your computer.
Two handles, one at the top and one on the face of the case give you the option of carrying either way for comfort or utility. Fully adjustable back straps have plenty of play and should fit just about anyone.
We've used several different laptop carry cases over the years, from the basic laptop sleeve to the expensive and somewhat bulky Tenba messenger/shoulder bag, and this backpack looks like it might get the most use out of all of them. I might not throw any of our digital SLRs in this bag like I would the Tenba, but for the laptop alone, it's a really good option.
CONS:
Can't really think of any major drawbacks at this point. I'll update the review if we encounter any issues with the bag, but for now I'm writing it down as a definite win.

I bought one of these at a local military surplus store and promptly ordered another online. (I could have bought it locally for about $5 less but I would have used almost that much in gas driving around town.) One of these serves as a mini-travel bag for me. I can put everything I need for a short weekend trip in it providing I don't need to pack heavy garments. I can tuck in a spare outfit, clothing, cosmetics, bathroom needs, meds, and so on. The second bag serves as a range bag. It can carry ample ammo for a busy day at the range plus other items that I like to take along. I have put as much as 25 pounds in one of these bags and it showed absolutely NO wear. The stitching is well done and the fabric durable. The weakest point is the netting/mesh pockets on the front. I expect this to wear out FAR before the rest of the bag (a stretchy more durable fabric would be better).Friday, March 21, 2014

I'll start by saying that this is a solid backpack. It is sewn together well, and I have not had any trouble with loose strings, or anything falling apart. This backpack can be used for skaters who need a place to put their board, general use, or even a laptop backpack.Personally, I use this backpack for work so I constantly carry a laptop. There is a good amount of padding in the laptop slot, although there is not a strap over the laptop slot, which shouldn't matter unless you plan on hanging upside down. It securely holds your laptop in place.
Pros:
Place to keep board (for skaters)
Solid stitching, not likely to tear
Slot to keep Ipod/etc.
Laptop slot with good padding
Multiple zip up pockets
Zippers have extended rubber gribs to make it easier to grab and zip
Cons:
Side pockets only have 1 zipper, so you cannot put a water bottle in or it will fall out.
No padding on the straps
All in all, it is a great backpack and well worth the money!

14 Inch Colorful Swirls DOUBLE Sided Print Pattern Design Dual Compartment Black Laptop Carrying Ca
I also love the bright colors. They are not painted on either-I was kind of worried they would be one of those "rubberized" type of decals and would wear off over time but they are not pressed on-they are part of the fabric.
The pocket in front is handy for pens, a small pad and the like.
The neoprene the case is made of will buffer your equipment a bit but it is not overly padded so if you drop it I am not sure it will protect it well. Since mine is in the keyboard case and inside this one it will be more than adequate for what I want.
Oh, and the shoulder strap has a nice feature in the matching neoprene pad. It makes it so that the strap does not cut into my shoulder. Another thing is that is adjusts on both sides-so smart so you can make sure it is even on both sides and that pad stays on your shoulder. I have seen others that adjust on one size and then the padding is either to the front of back of your shoulder-not this one.
My only wish is that the strap connected with metal hardware instead of plastic but for the price I understand you need to compromise in some way. I would absolutely recommend this case and would buy it again. I am actually thinking of getting another one to have on hand should anything happen to this one.
It does have that "new neoprene" smell to it but I sprayed with a little Febreeze and it is fine now.My daughter needs to bring a laptop in for her CTY program and she is in kindergarten and 5 years old.
This carrying case is great. It hold the 11" laptop, her mandatory notebook and pen with room to spare. I love that the front zip pocket is big enough to put headphones and mouse and I don't have to worry she will lose the items. Most carrying cases don't have a place to store headphones etc. It is soft so it will probably not prevent damage if dropped but it fits in her small LL Bean book bag with folding down the top no problem and helps to keep the weight of her pack down. I like that is doesn't weigh much as we try to limit the weight of her bag on CTY days as she is a small 5 years old. It is also very colorful and bright and perfect for a little girl to like. She has been using it for 2 months now twice a week and still looks brand new so I would say it holds up pretty well at least so far :)I've got this for my 13,5 inch laptop, and it fits easily inside, even with the neoprene sleeve on. The carrying case is pretty, and the side pocket is very useful. I don't give it 5 stars because the colors are slightly different from the picture, and are more on the red than the pink side.

Oakley Men's Kitchen Sink
Just received my package from Luggage Base (free shipping a plus) on Monday and everyone, including my neighbor who received it for me from the delivery guy was amazed. We all were impressed by the sheer presence the bag has alone. It definitely looks like a mans-mans kind of bag. I began transferring all of my messenger bag contents into the Kitchen Sink to see if it was more form over function.
Here is the break down of items: 2 text books and pad folio full of notes in the laptop section. A large Stanley thermos (1.1 qt), a Zojirushi Classic Bento Vacuum Lunch Jar in the main compartment. A 27oz L.L.Bean stainless steel water bottle in both side pockets. All of my pens, markers, high liters and correction tape went in the front pocket. My Gerber multi tool slid in perfectly into one of the rigid pockets inside as well as my portable digital storage devices. The hard undershell top case holds my shades, of course, as well as my ear plugs for my iPhone. I need to mention that every thing I stuffed into the bag still left me room for more. I'm considering using the wet pocket that zippers open from the bottom for more water bottles since I try to stay hydrated enough to pee clear (sorry if TMI).
Now to test out how comfortable it is to lug all this on my commute to/from work. Let me first mention that I decided to remove the padded strap that goes around the waist. Didn't feel comfortable having that thing dangling and the buckle clanging around. The bag already draws enough attention. It easily comes off by the Velcro attachment point behind the sleeve (you'll see). Now on to the function part: I take a rapid commuter bus with small aisles between the rows of seats. Somehow I didn't need to take the pack off to walk down the aisle with both straps around my shoulders. I take this bus to the Metro station and ride up one stop where I transfer to another line and ride that to the end of the line. The verdict: I love this bag!!! I barely feel the load because of the suspension system in the chest and shoulder strap combo. I wonder how much better it would've been with the waist strap... I also love the attention the bag gets even from other Oakley bag owners (Not Kitchen Sink). I still haven't seen one yet on my commute during rush hour btw. My only gripe is that you have to unclasp the cool hook thingys that secure the top flap in order to access the main compartment. I only have to open it once when I get to work to unload my thermos and lunch container though since my pad folio and books are accessible through the side zipper. Other than that I see why the Kitchen Sink is all that and then some. Push 'Buy Now' and enjoy forever!I have one of these packs. It is a man's pack. I am a girl; a smallish girl at that. I feel absolutely mortified walking around with a "men's" pack on my back. If the stares and snide remarks do not stop I plan to tie pink ribbons to the various clips, spray the thing down with Channel and possibly attach some sort of cute little furry stuffed animal to the top. But other than the gender problem, I do love this thing.
The pack itself does not weigh all that much. There are scads of pockets and pouches, clips and hangers along with zippers and clippers; neat and useful stuff all.
The pack is very well made. I tend to haul all kinds of stuff constantly, some if it quite heavy and I have hand no problem with tearing or stretching.
The mobile phone pocket is great and is handy. It does indeed hold my laptop and protects it well. The padded storage compartment for the glasses dose indeed work...I have dumped this pack right on that compartment several times and my sunglasses have survived, which is good as they actually cost more than the pack. The inner compartments are well organized and hold a lot of "stuff."
The pack straps are easily adjustable and the entire thing, fully loaded with all my useless stuff is extremely comfortable.
The little clippie thingy for the lock is nice, although I never use it...but I like knowing I could if I wanted to...as it stands, I could never remember a lock combination and I am sure to loose any key I would lug about.
The entire pack looks great; it is extremely attractive...in a "manly sort of way," grunt, grunt.
You might consider this to be sort of pricy, but you got to remember that you get what you pay for.
Good and useful pack...looks good, is extremely serviceable and the price is good here in Amazon Land.
Perhaps if I let my hair grow longer and ceased wearing combat boots and covered a couple of my tattoos ....hmmm.

Pros:I had been looking for a replacement bag to replace a High Sierra backpack I have owned and used almost every day for the past 7+ years. I read all the reviews on this bag and I am glad I went with it. It has a heavy gauge construction exterior and the zippers, snaps and buckles are of excellent quality, I should get many years of service from this backpack. It has a ton of room inside and lots of extra pockets to hold all your favorite gadgets including a padded laptop section. I have personally had over 50lbs. in the pack and it was still comfortable to carry. The straps are wide and padded for your comfort. There are several adjustable straps that allow you to tailor fit this bag to your body type. All I can say is "Awesome" glad I went with this.
Now the Cons:
A little bit pricey, but after you get it you will see why. Top notch materials and craftsmanship. This bag should easily outlast my last one.
The hard storage pocket in the top flap of the bag is a little heavier material and has a tendency to make the bag fall over when it is less than 1/3 full. What I did is make a wire cage frame inside the bag out of 1/8" steel rod (Purchased at Lowes for less than $10) that went from corner to corner and around the top flap on the inside of the bag and now it stand completely upright just like the picture shows, even when its completely empty. I think they should take my idea and incorporate it inside the bag. The cage didn't even add 1/2 lb. to the total weight and it in no way hindered the bags performance, in fact it looks like it belongs there. I was able to tuck it in the creases; it's almost invisible unless you really look for it.
All in all I love it!!!!!!!!

The looks:The backpack has no rivals in tough design. I've read a few reviews saying it is not a comfortable backpack, but i've found it to be one of the better packs that I've owned/tried on at stores. The metal handle up top sounds like a great idea, but it's not, it's less then comfortable and kind of small (not for those with larger hands) if you plan to use that handle at all. I often used that handle on my Swiss (Wanger?) backpack to lift it before putting it on. Not a big deal as i killed that habit after a few days.
The straps are nicely shaped. If you are hiking a while, I found the straps to create a more comfortable fit (especially the top strap). If you're just walking from your car to work then straps would just be silly.
The large hard front pocket at the top is rather nice for my essentials i don't want crushed (sun glasses, portable hdd, etc).
Two side pockets are nice and zippers are easy to use with two hands, but with one hand you may just pull the backpack towards you instead of opening. That is actually a positive as i've had similar zippers get caught on stuff and open up the pocket without me knowing it. So the zippers don't get stuck, they are just a little tighter then say a normal zipper. I noticed another review complaining about the zipper being to tough. I guess if you want an easy open zipper, get a LLBean.
The middle front pocket is not easily accessible, you'll need to undo the metal clips on right and left to reach the zipper (unless you don't close it all the way). This pockets is a pretty good size and has several compartments mounted inside for you to put your cell, etc.
The front large compartment is 2 sections, laptop and other (book?). Great news is that the laptop section can be easily accessed without undoing the metal clips, unfolding the top pocket and then undoing the zipper. Oakley put a zipper on the side so you can easily slide your laptop/tablet in and out of the backpack (a great idea in my opinion as otherwise it would be too much trouble to undo everything every time i need to get my device for the day.
The bottom pocket is great for wet clothes. It is made of waterproof material and extends into the 'other' pocket next to the laptop pocket (if you needed that extra space). The entire bottom pocket is isolated from the 'other' pocket with waterproof lining, so no worries about your stuff getting dirty. The bottom container also has drainage holes which again comes in handy when you have wet stuff/shoes in the bag.
The bag is a little pricey at full price. Amazon had it for 169 when i was buying it and they had extra 20% off which i had trouble using until i contacted their customer support (total paid just under $133).
Headphone port the description mentions a headphone port, which i keep hoping will be an actual port to plug your headphones in... no such luck, the backpack has a slit on top of the hard pocket so you can slide your headphone wire through. A little concerned with how well that slit on top will do during rain. I think I may close that hole so that i don't have to worry about my stuff, placing your device into the backpack while hiking in my opinion is silly because you can't change the song, but that's another story.
Overall the pack is very sturdy and looks great.
Cons: A little pricey, but it's a rather nice pack so i think it's worth the money. It is the first backpack that has people asking about it and commenting on it. Not really the goal here, but it does look good.
The top handle is my biggest gripe as it is a small thin metal handle. Not comfortable by a long shot if you had to lift the pack, especially if it is already loaded. The thin metal puts a bit of uncomfortable pressure to the hand the previous (Swiss) pack did not and since the hold for the hand is small too, then it's even harder to grab if you normally use this.
Front pocket takes a few seconds to open up. So if you want quick access to that pocket, i suggest you look at other models. If the laptop pocket is enough for your quick access, then that is covered. That's all i needed, so i'm good.
None of the gripes above were enough for me to take a star as they don't really effect me, but they may be things for you to consider before buying.

I have been using the Kitchen Sink for a while now. It is a cool backpack. I've used it for trade shows, work, and for a light backpacking trip.My conclusion after using it for sometime is that it is overkill and the ease of use leaves much to be desired.
If you like the aesthetics it is a great bag. If you are looking for something with a high level of usability there are other available options that might be a better fit.
Pros:
Looks awesome
Can carry a lot
Shoe space in the bottom is crucial
Cons:
My large laptop can only be accessed from the top
The storage is not quickly accessible
The straps are not super comfortable on a long trip
I would buy it again but it was not amazing.

My son wanted this back pack for Jr High this year.... when it came he was so happy! The straps are a little loose and slip some, but have you seen the amount of stuff they have to carry around? :)Thank you for a great transaction and a wonderful product.
