Yes, it's certainly not a large bag, but it's only a little bit smaller than a regular no frills backpack. It has several storage compartments. the main/largest zipper is smaller than it should be. (for a point of reference the backpack has more than enough room for a Macbook laptop, but the zipper is too small to get it in the bag without having to use weird angles.) there's also a top compartment that could fit one and a half average sized fists. Plus pen pocket on the strap and mesh waterbottle pocket on opposite side of zipper.Good bag for a light traveler, especially for the low pricemark.

Targus Checkpoint-Friendly Corporate Traveler Backpack for 15.4 Inch Laptops CUCT02B (Black)
On the plus side, this model is lightweight and fits my small-to-medium frame better than my old one did. (The straps on my old one seemed designed for a beefier person than me; they were set so wide that they tended to fall off my shoulders unless I cinched them up tightly.) And like my old one, this case has the internal air cushions that cradle the laptop and give excellent impact protection. My old case safely transported by venerable Dell across continents for many years; I hope this model endures so well.
On the down side, I wish this case had more interior pockets. While it has plenty of raw space for things like chargers, spare batteries, calculators, and office items, there are few ways to organize stuff effectively. I wound up buying some vinyl zipper bags to segregate items within the accessory pocket.
All in all, a nice case ... and the zip-through feature works great. On a recent trip through Atlanta and Miami International, TSA seemed knowledgeable about the zip-through feature and didn't balk at all, which saved me a lot of time and aggravation going through security.I travel Monday through Thursday every week, and going through security and protecting my back are both concerns. This backpack has been perfect for keeping me comfortable, organized, and whizzing through security, since I just unzip the middle and send it on through. The only annoying thing is that just because I'm ready to go through doesn't mean the people struggling in front of me in line are!

This is the 2nd Targus backpack I have bought for my husband. I did a lot of research on various brands. He loves this one and it's reasonably priced. The style is simple but very functional. Very good quality and great for a lap top. I'd reccomend this to anyone in the middle age group as the style is subtle but yet handsome.Had backpack for month; several domestic and one major international trip. Zip-thru work well in US checkpoints but not at international airports (London, Amsterdam, Brussels and Munich; must pull laptop). Not as many compartments as other backpacks, but looks more professional when attending business meetings (all black, minimal zippers). Getting files in and out is a little more difficult than typical laptop briefcase. Also note that when packed will not fit under some International coach seats (due to entertainment systems controls) or regional jets seas. Fits easily into the overhead. Easy to carry on your back and also on rollaway suitcase.Overall, very good product; would recommend to others who travel or like a backpack vs. briefcase style. The bag is very similar to what I need but I really needed it to have the same red Targus emblem on the top. It shows it in the picture but it is not on the bag. The one I recieved is black and oblong.

Targus Legend IQ Laptop Backpack
Unfortunately, there's one major flaw to the backpack and I had to find out the hard way. The extra sleeve to put your tablet/netbook (in my case my Kindle) in is Not Padded! I was carrying the backpack around in London for a week when I pulled out my kindle and found it to be broken. Apparently, sometime within the day I had put pressure to my backpack causing my kindle's screen to break, which I had no idea how it happened considering how I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I was completely shocked and disappointed and miserable half the time without my kindle. This shouldn't have happened at all considering how the rest of the backpack was well thought out. I can't even imagine how someone would feel if their Ipad/Transformers/Kindle Fire were to break like my Kindle. This is not to say that the sleeve won't work, you just need to be very very careful and mindful of the backpack. For this alone I give the backpack 3 stars, but if you're a very careful person or won't use the tablet/netbook sleeve at all, then this backpack is great!(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM) Targus makes great products, but this backpack is the ultimate in laptop/media carrying and storage. First it is completely comfortable with adjustable shoulder straps and a stiff cushioned back for comfort. Pockets? There are pockets galore! There is one on each side, four in the front (one of which has seven internal pockets with one being zippered and one for your memory card). Think about small electronics, cards, wallets, glasses, etc. anything small you need immediately can fit in here.
The inside can easily fit a thick 16" laptop (even in its carrying case) along with two other deep pockets for other valuables. On top of all that, you can place your iPod/iPhone in a pocket at the inside top of the backpack and plug it into a readily supplied wire that exits out the right shoulder pack strap. That's right; you just plug your ear buds into the shoulder strap! The other shoulder strap has a stretchable strap for your eyeglass/sunglasses. There are air vents throughout for good circulation.
The entire pack is made of black polyester and the zippers are tough plastic that won't bind or catch. This is perfect for the campus, work or travel (it will easily fit in an overhead compartment or under your seat). The pack sits upright to insure no damage to anything inside and the feel is light and comfy. Targus made a great pack this time and the price is perfect!

This bag is perfect for business as well as personal use. Pockets everywhere. Easy to use. Love the mp3 pocket. I fit my hp spectre xt 15, my ipad, kindle, nook, iPod, note pad and pens, all necessary cords, earphones and whatnot with no problem having to search. It's all just right there. And, I'm not done yet, there is still room in the main pouch for files, packages, I could go on forever, this is an awesome product. Even better than you'd usually expect from Targus. Never a dissapointment. Recommended to pros and ams.Read Best Reviews of Targus Legend IQ Laptop Backpack Here
Pros: well-made, inexpensive, stylish, not too bulky, plenty of compartments.Cons: Padding for laptop and any additional peripherals at bottom of bag is minimal.
I supplemented the padding issue by purchasing a padded laptop sleeve from Swiss as well as a padded camera bag insert from Camaroo for the bottom of the bag.
The bag supports my Lenovo y580 15.6", Razer Nostromo, Razer mouse, Gamecom headset, and various wires and cables.

This backpack is not too large and is a great weight. It has a good amount of pockets but I am disappointed in the 2 lower outside pockets as seen in the ad photo. The ad photo shows double zippers on each of the 2 lower outer pouches. After receiving and using the backpack I noticed that there is only one edge to edge zipper for the 2 lower external pouches. That's not a deal breaker for me but I am very disappointed because I expected to be able to zip the external pockets as shown in the ad. Instead the one zipper closes all the way down at the opposite end of the bag so you need to make sure that the zipper is well closed before proceeding off with this backpack.Other than the problem I notice with the zippers in the ad vs. the zipper on the bag I am satisfied, but not overly impressed, with the bag itself or the 2 gimmick items it includes. It is much easier to carry around than the last backpack for my laptop. There are enough pockets for most anything. Inside the bag there is just one large opening instead of 2 separately enclosed large compartments like other backpacks its size but that is what also helps lighten the load. If you can settle with a backpack with one large open section with one padded separator then you should be fine with this backpack. The amount of pouches for this backpack is good but I think that the inside holder for your music player and the external plug for the headphones on the shoulder straps are more of a gimmick than practical because I can't see someone easily accessing their music player once they set it up and put the backpack on. It also appears that the sunglass holder on the backpack sling is also gimmicky because there's no way I'll put my expensive sunglasses in that holder for fear of them being knocked off while I walk or it being damaged when I remove the backpack or bump into something. I keep my shades in a case in the lower side zippered pocket instead and keep my music player clipped to my waist or in a front shirt pocket where I can reach it.
I feel this is a good backpack but nothing special or out of the ordinary and feel that the sunglass holder, music player holder and earphone jack are gimmicks to sell this pack but are not really practical to use, although there are some people who may find these gimmicks handy. I also wish it had double zippers for every opening like most other backpacks. There is only one double zipper and that's for the largest opening for the bag. As others have noted it can use much more padding or at least a solid bottom to the backpack.

Kata KT D-3N1-22 3 In 1 Sling /Backpack with Laptop Slot
But I've wanted a backpack camera bag. Shopping around, I kept coming back to the Kata 3N1 for its versatility: regular backpack, left or right sling with quick access on either side, and criss-cross to go from backpack to sling in seconds.
But which one? The 20 or the 30? I didn't need the netbook / laptop compartment, since I don't plan to tote one. The 30 sounded a bit large.
I ordered the 20, then changed my mind and chose the 22 -WITH the netbook compartment. Because I realized I would use it for manuals and bounce cards. And maybe a netbook, if I like . . .
The Kata 3N1 22 arrived in four days and it's been everything I hoped. Beautifully designed and constructed; high quality; amazing in operation.
Right away, out of curiosity, I wanted to see how I could configure it and load it up. Here it is, packed, at 14 pounds. (3 of those are the bag, so that's 11 pounds of gear in a deceptively compact and comfortable backpack.)
UPPER COMPARTMENT
580 EX II Speedlite (in its case, with stand)
430 EX II Speedlite (in its case, with stand)
8 spare AA batteries for Speedlites
Cables
Microfibre cloths
Lens caps
RIGHT EXTERIOR POUCH
Second Canon camera battery
Canon battery wall charger
LEFT EXTERIOR POUCH
Polarizing and other filters
MAIN COMPARTMENT
Canon 40D
Tamron 70-300mm and reversed hood (on camera)
Canon 50mm 1.8 prime (hood separate)
Canon 28-135mm (hood reversed)
Tamron 17-35mm (hood separate)
Tamron 28-200mm (hood reversed)
2-pc Vivitar wireless remote (in mesh pouch, not included)
3pc Cowboy wireless Speedlite triggers (in mesh pouch, not included)
Rain cover in pouch
Media kit -with extra compact flash cards
NETBOOK COMPARTMENT
"A Better Bounce Card" Bounce Cards
Manuals
And there's still room for a card reader, binoculars, LED flashlight, small miscellaneous items.
Will I walk around every day with it loaded like that? Probably not. Then again, why not? Leaving out a couple or three lenses and one Speedlite doesn't reduce the weight by THAT much. (Though it's an amazingly comfortable everyday run-around backpack / sling if I leave a few items at home.)
All I have to do is sling my tripod (in its case) and light stand / umbrella (in their case) over my shoulder, or hand carry them, and go. An easily portable highly versatile studio for locations.
Does the 3N1 system really work? And how!
I have had none of the problems a few others have mentioned. I'm 6', 200 lbs, 42" waist. The adjustable waistband fits me fine, with inches to spare.
Yes, wearing it as a regular backpack is the most comfortable over time, as everybody mentions.
But the criss-cross position is almost equally comfortable, with the advantage of instantly converting to a sling. I don't feel "choked" by the straps at my neck, as a few have mentioned. Yes, I adjust them more often because of the configuration. But I don't mind, having the option to instantly go to a sling.
The adjustable padding on the straps is comfortable and effective. The quick-release buckles are strong yet easy to fasten or open. Yes, you really CAN pull the side flap open with one hand and grab your camera from the bag on the fly. The zippers are heavy-duty but smooth.
Sling position (I'm right-handed) works as advertised, with rapid access to my camera without opening the main bag, plus the stabilizing factor of resting my elbows on the bag, now slung around and lying across my front, while shooting.
Sturdy, solid protection for all that gear, plus a rain cover if needed. And yes, I'm glad to have the netbook compartment. I knew I'd use it and it's worth the extra $20.
Now that I've seen how MUCH gear I can pack, it's a daily exercise to decide what I really WON'T need when I go out, and enjoy this versatile backpack / sling at its lightest and for all it's worth. Because it's so brilliantly sized and configured that, backpack or sling, it doesn't feel clumsy or oversized at all, as you use it.
Of course, you're carrying as much as 14 pounds of gear or more in this seemingly compact case -so it's not like toting an iPhone in your pocket. You feel it. The trick is HOW and how much you might be strained by the extra weight.
The Kata 3N1 22 distributes the weight perfectly and is hands down and fully loaded the most comfortable backpack I've ever worn. You can even use it as an ordinary backpack if you like. The padded partition separating the upper from the main compartment unzips to create one large interior space (by removing the remaining velcro-strapped padded dividers).
I'm impressed. This is an organically designed ergonomic camera equipment transport-protection system that can literally change from day to day, or hour to hour, according to your personal / professional needs and schedule. Priced as well as it is designed and constructed.
Great job, Kata.I gave this pack a five star rating because it is well made, well designed, roomy, and works the way it is intended. But even with all that being said, I have returned the bag. It's simply too big for me. That's why I'm reviewing it I want to give some fair warning to potential purchasers.
I'm a photo enthusiast and I take my camera nearly everywhere. If you're like me, you're obsessing over this bag purchase, looking at all of them and trying to choose the one that works best for you. I bought this bag thinking it would be nice to have plenty of space to hold all my gear. And it does just that. I have a Canon 40D, two telephoto lenses and a short prime lense. Add to that all the usual stuff you need to own battery pack, cleaning supplies, a few filters, and spare SD cards. It all fits in the bag with room to spare for my passport, sunglasses, wallet items, even a snack and a bottle of water. It's comfortable, secure, has a waste strap for support, and the quick side opening works well. I got the one with the laptop compartment and my netbook fits in it just fine.
But the thing is just too darned big! I feel like I'm shouting TOURIST!! It sticks way up on my back and looks silly. If I use it in the criss-cross configuration, it crosses over my breasts and makes them look like Zena the Princess Warrior. I can get the side opening to work using the backpack configuration, but it's not as stable. And it's so bulky that it feels a bit unwieldy.
Finally, carrying all that stuff around made me realize that doing so is not really necessary. Do I really need to carry all three of my lenses and all my cards, filters, and gear on an outing? It makes for a heavy pack, and unless you're a pro, or a very serious ameteur, I just don't see it being necessary to take it all with me. I traded down for a lowepro fastpack 100, and I'll post a review when I've had a chance to go over it. But it looks like I'll be able to carry my camera, one spare lense and all the other accessories I need just fine. The pack is smaller, more streamlined looking, and weighs less.
I gave this item a great rating because it is a beautiful product. Quality materials, light color inside so you can see what's inside well, and lots of thought put into what a camera user needs. And I LOVE the fast access side set-up. I didn't think it would be fair to rate it down because it didn't suit my needs. But non-pros should know that it's big enough to carry a fair amount -if not allof what you own, and if you want to do that, then this bag will suit your needs. But if you want to carry your camera, maybe a spare lense, battery and SD card with plenty of room left for a sack lunch, this is overkill.

I researched for several months to find a sling bag that would be large enough to carry my D700, 3 lenses (1 of which is a larger ultrawide zoom), and various other peripherals when I travel, that would *magically* shrink to a manageable size for day hikes and around-town shooting. With exception to the Kata, I was able to examine the usual suspects in person at a local electronics superstore. The bags were either too small or too big, and none offered the flexible sling / back pack option, so I decided to take a leap of faith and order a Kata. I was leaning towards the 10, however, based on other reviews, I decided the medium size would be required to accomodate my kit. I ordered the Kata KT D-3N1-22 3 In 1 Sling /Backpack with Laptop Slot so I could tote my iPad2 as well.I received the bag quickly and was immediately concerned about the size. I decided to give it a try anyway. With room to spare, I was able to load it up with the kit mentioned above as well as my iPad, wallet, various cleaning gadgets and a few more odds and ends one would expect to carry on a day trip. I struggled with the size of the bag on my frame all day. The back pack configuration worked a little better, but the bag itself is so long. it would not sit comfortably on my tiny frame in any configuration. It also stuck out way farther than I liked. Even on my husband, who is 5'9", the profile was freakishly large.
I give this bag four stars because the quality is top-notch, and the over-all functionality is great. I just wish it had a drnk holder, as mentioned by most others. Despite the size, i was easily able to access my equipment and swap lenses without the need for placing the bag on the ground. I am going to exchange this bag for the Kata KT D-3N1-10 Sling/Backpack (Black) in hopes that it is more suited to my needs. I will update my review upon receipt of that bag.
8/17/2011 UPDATE: Received the Kata KT D-3N1-10 Sling/Backpack (Black) and love it. It's more suited to someone small like me, and with exception to my iPad, fits everything the Kata KT D-3N1-22 3 In 1 Sling /Backpack with Laptop Slot held. I am very pleased with my exchange.

This bag is fantastic. It is good looking, flexible, well organized, and sturdy. I travel worldwide, year round. I am a road warrior. I needed a bag for carry on purposes that I could also use while doing day hikes, take to the office, etc. I carry:a Nikon D7000 with 2 extra lenses
a macbook air 11 inch
a sony coolpix
two mobile phones
a wifi hotspot
two pouches with cables and wires and chargers
passport and money pouch
rain sleeve
ultralight windbreaker
-Spare batteries
-small spiral paper notebook and pen
I used to have to carry a much larger bag to accommodate these items. But the 3N-22 works perfectly. Its a snug fit, but with all of the pockets and points of access, I can get to everything quickly. It is also sturdy.
The flexible straps work really well. I recently tested these on a mountain biking excursion in China. Used both straps while biking and pulled one to quickly slide the bag towards my chest for easy access to my DSLR. Worked quickly and easily.
My only suggestion for improvement would be for Kata to re-inforce the bottom of the bag with a water proof fabric. I set mine down all of the time, and not always in the driest of places. Otherwise, I would say this is the best bag I have ever owned... And I have tried many.

Well, the mesh bag was big and more than the cubic inches of the bag that was to be placed inside it for safe keeping at such places like hotel storage; however, it was not long enough. I believe this is a problem with the vendor and amazon.com in describing how to measure before purchase. Length is the limiting factor in the cubic-Inch calculation. I'll have more when I get back. The mesh is useable; however, it has now been repurposed and is doing a fine job.The locks are a little flaky; however, I am thinking a thief seeing all of this wire mesh will go after easier prey! I'd recommend this product. JUST REMEMBER THE LENGTH IS THE LIMITING SIZE fat is okay in this instance!

Also, it shows in the photo a clip and zipper on the front flap there is no clip and there is no zipper. Velco doesn't stay very secure, but the flap is heavy, so it's not that critical.I bought this bag as a gift for my boyfriend. We're in college so he uses the bag for carrying textbooks and whatnot. He LOVES the design of the bag. Our only problems with the bag are that the metal piece connecting the strap to the bag stretched apart and broke right away. My boyfriend only puts a couple textbooks and notebooks in there and the books are actually pretty small and light weight. Our other problem is that the side pockets barely open and you can't put much in there. It's a good place for instant access to pens and pencils though. Over all I would recommend this product, but you should include a carabiner or something to replace the metal strap piece when it stretches open and breaks.

I purchased this bag as an inexpensive work bag. I did not need an extremely sturdy bag but something to carry lightweight items. I am not a big believer in taking work home (home is for family) so I only carry things like notebook, ipad, phone, wallet etc.The old saying "you get what you paid for" is true. I did not pay much for this bag and got a poor bag in return. The outside pockets do not close so they are unusable. There are no pockets in the main compartment so all of the things that you carry are loose and difficult to find. The zipper broke in less than a month. Worst of all, the bag started fraying almost immediately after purchase.
This is a great looking bag but of poor quality.

Thule Crossover 32L Backpack
The first thing I want to say immediately is for the amount of gear this bag holds it is remarkably compact. Another way of putting it is that Thule are genuses at efficient design. I can safely say I am more pleased with the various pockets and places this bag has than any other I own.
This bag is totally "today" in that it has protected zones for not only a laptop but a tablet or BOTH, instantly making it my #1 choice for overnight trips or to be used in addition to other luggage for longer trips.
Two of the most impressive features are the hard-shell accessory pouch at the top, a great place to store those expensive sunglasses or other breakables, and the Shove It pocket, which is essentially a large open area between the front and the back of the bag where you can throw a newspaper, sandwich, sweater, ballcap, whatever for instant access. A word of caution though, anything thrown in there is subject to falling out ... the two side cinches only partially pull the pocket shut. I've never seen another bag with either of these two features.
The zippered clothing compartment is big enough for a change of clothes, some swim shorts and maybe another pair of shoes. Watch the video on this page, it does a great job of showing off all of these pockets.
The little pocket on the very bottom is also a nice touch for things like chargers for your laptop or cell phone.
Since I just got the bag I can't say how long it will last but the construction quality is undeniably first class. If I rank the bag on two things versatility and quality of construction that will answer my initial question if it's worth it. The answer is yes.
The final thing that is important to most of us is how does it look? Well, it won't win any awards for cutting edge styling, it is low-key and basic black but it's one of those items that it only takes one look at to think "classy".
If backpacks are part of your daily life style why go cheap? I could not be happier than with the Thule Crossover. Maybe I'll start giving my other backpacks away ;-)
I like the products that Thule makes. They're sturdy and of high quality, and that's why I was looking forward so much to getting this backpack, and I wasn't disappointed.
From the video I posted, you can see the storage space in the backpack.
There's plenty of padding to keep a laptop secure. It'll easily fit the 17" laptops and Macbooks. We put a 17" HP laptop which is thicker than a Macbook and it fit just fine.
The hardened storage compartment is great for sunglasses or ipods so they don't get scratched by all the other stuff you might have in the backpack. It also makes it easy to access your ipod, headphones, sunglasses, or whatever else you might put in there.
The only drawback is that the shoulder straps feel just a tight around the edges, almost like they're angled in. That could be just a matter of having the straps too tight, and I really only feel it when putting on the backpack.
Other than that, it's been our laptop case of choice when we're going out and about and need to take the laptop.
There's a space on the backpack where you could stuff a jacket in which comes in handy when travelling.
So all around, great backpack for taking care of important digital devices you want to take around.

This is the best backpack I have ever used in my entire life. The first thing you'll notice is how durable the materials are. This bag is SOLID. The zippers and buckles are high quality. The straps and handles are rugged yet padded and very comfortable.
At first I thought this bag wasn't that big inside, because when all the pockets are empty, it actually compresses down into a fairly compact size. Then I realized how much capacity there is. And the compartments are so smartly designed! To give you an idea: Right now the back compartment has my iPad and 15-inch MacBook (which is sitting on a built-in cushioned bottom so that it doesn't hit the ground when I put the bag down), the middle compartment has clothing and a pair of sneakers, the outside zipper is holding my AC adapters and wires, the hard protective case on the outside top has my sunglasses and camera, and the external pocket in the middle of the bag is holding the newspaper. (And I'm not even using all the compartments; there is still room in the bottom compartment, and there are tons of zippered crevices on the insides to organize anything you've got.)
The sign of a really great product is when the designers put in features I didn't even realize I needed, UNTIL I used them. I am talking specifically about the "Shove-it Pocket." This is a pocket in the middle of the bag that doesn't have a zipper, and it is accessible from the top of the bag -you can quickly stuff things in there and pull them out quickly as needed. When I first saw this pocket I thought, "Um, this is kind of weird. I don't think I'm going to use this when I could put my stuff inside the backpack." Then I realized that the external pocket is perfect for putting in my newspaper. And my umbrella. And my water bottle. And my banana! It is expandable with adjusting straps, and everything stays put. It's a genius feature, and because it is instantly accessible, I find I use it the most out of all the compartments.
The only negative I could say about this bag is that it's kind of tall. But I'm 6'1" and it fits my frame perfectly and the height helps it hold so much!
In comparison to this Thule backpack, every other backpack I've used seems cheap and poorly thought out. This bag is comfortable, functional, durable, and brilliantly thought out. I cannot recommend it strongly enough.

From the reviews I read before I bought this bag I could not find anyone using it for a high-school book-bag. So I decided to write it from my own perspective. For the abbreviated review, skip to the last paragraph, you might have to do some scrolling.
Let me start by saying that I love this bag, and if thats all you read of this review, you will not be disappointed by the bag. For those of you with concerns, I will try to adress them now. This bag is organized VERY well. The center pocket is EXTREMELY spacious, and can hold 6 textbooks all about 1.75in in thickness. If you carry more than that many books, just go buy a luggage cart. The laptop pocket holds any size laptop up to a 17in. But that dosent mean it wont cary a 13 or 11 in securely and safely. The tablet pocket will accomodate just about any 10 tablet including my galaxy tab 10.1. The added pockets at the top are great for carrying a mouse, cellphone charger or just cables. Dont expect to fit anything more than a magazine into this pocket though, as its very slim. the front pockets are great. Inside the front attached pocket thing there are three pockets, one zipper pocket, and two normal pockets of different sizes. The two pockets are perfectly sized for a scientific calculator (ti84 plus) and a sizable stack of notecards. The zipper pocket is well made and I use it for holding pens becuase i can trust the material they use. this pocket can also accomodate another larger item; like a pair of headphones or a kindle or a book.
Moving to the main pocket there is ample room inside as mentioned above and some pockets above that are very handy because they are so high up they dont interfere with the books.
The crushproof pocket has a feature that i dont think anyone else mentioned, it has the ability to be locked. The zipper will accomodate a standard travel lock. It is the only locking pocket on the bag as far as i know. That said, the zippers have holes in them big enough to possibly accomodate a standard padlock.
The bottom pocket is very flat, as you would expect. One reviewer wrote about uneven wear because the charger would cause a bump in the pocket. I dont have this fear because i have the extension on my mac charger, (it comes with one people, its in the box) so the pocket just sits flat.
The water bottle compartments are made of quite heavy material, unlike most other brands (come on northface). and they are easily large enough to accomodate a thermos.
The straps and back padding are very comfortable as i assume they are made from some high density foam or gell. Some reviews complained about the straps pinching their necks. I have not had this problem. Though you should really think about this bag if you have a small frame. IT is VERY large and may be too large for anyone under about 5' 6".
Another bonus about this bag is it excellent build quality. The strap adjustment loop things are made from solid aluminum and have a nice brushed finish. I dont expect them to scratch or break. The whole backpack is made with care and the zippers and straps, stitches and design show it. And Thule backs up their workmanship with a 25 year warranty.
You made it, or you just cheated, whatever, in summary:
If your a student and considering this bag I would say go get one, as long as you are big enough to carry it. It feels big, and rightfully so, at 32L its right at the top of the backpack range. Its excellent build quality and though in the designing process make this bag worth every penny of its pricey $129.99 price tag.

Pros:Quality is top notch.
Bag is extremely roomy. With the laptop area separated from the main storage compartment there is room for either your lunch, or if you're traveling a set of shoes and clothes.
Protective area for eye classes is a good idea.
chest strap secures bag so you can run through the airport or chase after a train.
Cons:
There is a large slot that you use to stow odd items like a newspaper, a jacket etc. Unfortunately this slot is not sealable with a zipper and so if you are walking in the rain and your umbrella does not extend far back enough, you will find water filling that slot with no place to go since there is no drainage hole on the bottom.
-I would have liked to see the side pouches zippered so I can use them to stick in an umbrella or spare change when I have to rush through airport security.
