I have had my backpack for a week and a half now and one of the shoulder straps broke already. It broke where it is stitched at the bottom of pack. I feel this is something a quality control person should really pay attention to. Not enough of the strap was caught by the sewing machine. This could had been a major safety issue if it had broke while i was riding my motorcycle.

I am super excited! 'just received my pack (Astars commuter backpack). This backpack is made with riders in mind--its Alpinestars. Since I just got it, I'll just go over the prelim. FLIMSY it is NOT. The stock Fasteners & harnesses are exactly what a rider needs for cruising or performance riding. The reinforced back panel that goes against your back is a plus. You will need to break it in for it is build very tough; therefore, very stiff--I love it! Thanx Astars. You guys are a fine addition to the moto world.

The North Face Surge II Backpack

So after weeks of reading about backpacks and their practicality and so on, I decided on the Surge II and wont even look back!

Some people are saying this daypack is a waste of money and to purchase the Surge I instead. I would have to disagree

I am a college student and I also enjoy getting lost in the woods so this pack serves my every needs

A. Lets start with the first large compartment (laptop compartment)

1. Its huge and has a tablet compartment attached to it. I fit my 15" Macbook in there with a case and use the tablet compartment for my charger usually

2. Sorry but this compartment does not have a slit to run a bladder hose through but you can always just run it though an opening in a zipper if you really wanted

3. This compartment also has a foam tube on the bottom (2inch in diameter) for protection(I just drop my bag to the floor even with my laptop in it when i set it down honestly)

B. The next large compartment is your main compartment,

1. For day hikes, I fill this thing to the top with food, clothes, gear, and usually one very large jacket for the night hike back.

2. For school i could fit my biology and physics text book in there (each is about 300 pages) plus my binders and notebooks with enough space to add my sweater on top, ITS HUGE!

C. Here's your organizational pocket

1. velcro compartment, attached to a pocket the same size which is zippered, attached to two other pocket, (could fit a CD case in each) plus other small compartments including a padded pocket for something more delicate like an iphone perhaps.

2. The front side of the pocket has a mesh zipper compartment which is nice because you can always see what you got in there.

D. Now in the front you can see two zippers, unlike the Surge I, on the Surge II these pockets arnt connected!

1. Two separate pockets big enough to fit 3-4 water bottles in each, this is where i keep my on-the-go snacks and other totally random useful things

E. Above these two pockets you have the flannel material for sun glasses and such, its big enough for me to fit my hand in there with my fingers stretched out as far as possible

DONT BE FOOLED! This pack has only 1 bottle holder (pictured) the other side is just a strechy pocket and it fits my first aid kit in the perfectly!

also the bottle holder keeps my 1L nalgene bottle in place and it never shakes, even when its full

This change they did doesnt matter for me, 1L of water is plenty and if i needed more, im sure i can find space in the pack to store a bottle for refill.

other things: the waist strap tucks away underneath the padding, it has a chest strap with a whistle attached, got a chain of daisy loops and its looks GREAT!

I've also made a bunch of my buddies kinda jealous

1. it's adorable (I have gotten so many compliments!)

2. The interior pockets are incredibly well-thought out--I can fit way more stuff in this backpack than my old backpack of comparable size.

3. I'm in law school, so I carry a lot of heavy textbooks. The straps are nicely designed and the weight is distributed well.

4. A note on the laptop compartment--I have a Macbook Air, and since the laptop compartment is designed to hold up to a 17'' desktop replacement, I do sometimes worry about it sloshing around in there. I usually put a textbook in there too, so that the laptop won't move. One really big positive : the laptop compartment is extremely well padded, especially on the bottom. There's at least an inch or two of sturdy-feeling foam material on the bottom, which is good, because in my opinion the biggest risk to laptops in backpacks is when people unthinkingly bang their bags down (like I do all of the time).

5. The waterbottle pockets are big enough to hold a very wide waterbottle ( I have a 32oz Nalgene). If you have the bag packed full, you probably won't be able to use both pockets, but I can always use at least one.

I needed a bag to commute into NYC with on the train and this is the perfect one!!! There's enough room to fit my laptop, lunch, wallet, spare pair of shoes, and notebooks. It's sleek and stylish, roomy, but still compact. I love this bag!

The backpack itself is awesome...it has a place for everything!! The pictures listed on Amazon's website, as well as, the video shown on Ogio's website have not been updated and shows the bag as having a light grey or cream interior, but unfortunately the latest model has multi-colored polka dots. I purchased the backpack for business travel, and in my opinion the polka-dots give the bag a less than professional appearance when open.

Mega Bloks Dora's School Time Backpack

My daughter is obsessed with backpack, but when she received this for her birthday and opened it she was sorely disappointed. There aren't that many pieces to play with(not to mention boots was damaged because he was not protected by anything) the backpack has a pretty big piece of cardboard in the bottom so it looks fuller than it actually is. That would have been fine if backpack was actually a backpack. There are no straps in her back and she is tied down with those plastic ties to the cardboard through her plastic! Backpack is not durable at all after seeing there were 2 holes on each side I knew that she would be ripped in no time and i was right. After putting things in her a few times the holes in the sides got bigger and bigger. My daughter kept asking me to help her wear backpack like Dora does and I had to keep telling her no that you can't do that with this one and she was really upset. If you are looking for this set just for the few pieces of mega blocks then I guess that is good for that purpose but if you are looking to use the backpack as well don't count on it because it most likely will end up in the trash with the box.

This is the fourth Sherpani bag I have purchased and I love them all! I purchased a bag with the same color and flower design to use as a diaper bag and have been very happy with it.

So when I needed to buy my daughter luggage for our first trip I was so happy to find a matching duffel bag!

This bag is huge for it's size! It can collapse and be small or expand to be very large. By no means is this a bag for a long trip for an adult, but for a child this held plenty of clothes for our trip, plus what we purchased while traveling.

CalPak Vega Rolling Laptop Backpack

I was looking for a bag for a 15.4 inch laptop. Overstock lists this one as fitting most 17" laptops, and ebags lists that the sleeve is 15x10x2. This is not remotely true. My laptop sticks out of the sleeve by a good 4". Looks like it would be a decent bag otherwise, but you better have a tiny laptop.

This is a nice backpack with lots of pockets and has a small foot print, will fit easily under a seat on regional jets. The computer padded pocket is small and my 9" wide and 13" long laptop does not fit in this pocket. I have modified the front main pocket by adding padding to carry my computer, small notebook and using the padded computer pocket to carry other electronics.If the padded computer was about 2" wider this backpack will get a five star rating.

I like the appearance of this book bag for my son. In terms of quality, this book bag is a piece of garbage. At this point the book bag & lunch bag are completely unusable. Lunch bag was never used opened & closed maybe once, zipper came off track. My son had his first day of school yesterday, used book bag once, went to pick him up, both zippers are now off track & can't be repaired. For the book bags marketing age range, you would think this would be made a more durable. Mind you, no textbooks, just a folder and a small book were inside. Save your money & put it towards something with better quality. Quite disappointed.

I got a laptop a year ago it's an Hp and very heavy and comes with a bulky charger too. I was afraid i would only be able to carry just the laptop in this case but it fit my charger and my laptop. I bought this clear backpack solely to be used in Disney World. I figured that if security could see everything in my bag, going through the bag check would be faster and easier...Well, it was and it wasn't. Half the time they would skim over my bag without opening it and the other half they would still open it and go through it, even though the bag was clear, so it didn't save any time.

It rained a lot while we were there, and the thick plastic material helped the things inside from getting wet. It is not waterproof (although I don't think it claimes to be...) because water can get in through the zipper area, but on the whole, this backpack kept everything a lot dryer than if we had used a cloth one.

One more thing, it is a lot easier to find things in a clear backpack, so when you are packing a day's worth of park necessities (sunscreen, diapers, fans, snacks, etc), it is WAY easier to find them in this bag. That alone made this purchase worth while. I will definitely be saving this bag for all future theme park visits (even if I don't totally love the style of a clear backpack!!)

Bought five of these in different colors for a recent trip to Disney World. They were light weight and everyone got to carry their water and snacks (including 3 kids). We bought them because they were cheap and could be lost and abused without any guilt. Suprising they have held up, and 6 months later we are still using them for sporting events and errands.

Timbuk2 Race Duffel Bag

When I went looking for a Tri-Bag I wanted a bag that could carry all of the following:

A beach towel

A bath towel

One Joe Blow bike pump

Flip Flops

Running Shoes

Cycling Shoes

And gels, bars, electrolyte tabs, a bottle of cytomax, three bottles of water, socks, goggles, spare tubes, various bike tools, spare shirts, and a change of clothes.

Prior to this I had a non-descript black duffel bag without a shoulder strap, my bike pump kind of stuck out of the zipper, and the thing didn't have a shoulder strap. The last thing you want to do on race day is schlep a 35 pound bag with no shoulder strap from your parking spot which always seems to be 2.5k from t1 in one hand and your bike in the other hand!

Yes I did have a system for keeping the gels, bars, electrolyte tabs, socks, goggles, spare tubes, spare shirts, and a change of clothes organized, it involved a careful rolling of items into the beach towel (transition mat) at 1:00am the night before the race. The problem was post-race, the stuff just didn't seem to fit back into the bag!

With this new bag I've got Capacity to fit everything, (including the bike pump), portability in the form of shoulder Strap(s), and pockets to keep the gel's from rubbing up against the business end of my flip flops, Water proof pockets to contain a cytomax spill to one compartment, the list goes on but can be summed up in one word ORGANIZATION. Last but not least I've got style.

There are many ways to get yourself squared away on race day. I recommend this bag!

I have been looking for a gear bag for my biking stuff for a long time and I finally found it. This bag is perfect on one side you can fid your helmet and the other side has a lined section for your muddy shoes and wet clothing. The center section is large enough for anything else you may have. Plus it has two outside water bottle holders.

Ultimately I ended up returning it and purchasing a eagle creek hybrid hauler. If you are looking for a duffel/backpack converter go for the Eagle Creek. That being said, I am a huge fan of timbuk2 and their messenger bags. I'll continue to stick with them for their messenger bags.

I bought this bag sight unseen, with just viewing the pictures and reading the description on Amazon. It's a nice bag, but could benefit from some additional design considerations. On the good side, it seems to be of good quality materials and construction. It is spacious (as advertised) and there are several pockets/storage areas to make use of.

My only real disappointment is in the fact that there that there is no way to get backpack straps out of the way when they are not in use. When you want to carry it as a duffle bag by the handles there is no way to remove the backpack straps and no special pocket/sleeve in which the backpack straps can be tucked into to avoid them getting in the way or dragging. The straps are stitched on the top end and can be disconnected on the bottom end... but no matter what you do they are in the way when not in use. The perfect solution would have been for them to have a little pocket sleeve near the stitched end that you could insert the straps when not in use.

Anyway, it's a nice bag overall and while I don't regret buying it I really wish the backpack straps had a better solution when not in use.

I love this bag for the gym. I purchased the small size and I'm keeping it. The two side compartments are very handy for shoes, sweaty clothes, etc. However, the reason it gets 3 stars is because the backpack straps aren't great. The straps attach/detach at one end with a hook for easy access to the main compartment, sorta like an adjustable bra strap. Great idea, but the loops that hold the hooks are loose, and the straps constantly fall out when I'm putting the bag on. In addition, the backpack straps cut into my back when i wear them, which is very uncomfortable. I removed the straps altogether. Last but not least, the two net pockets on the outside are too small to hold water bottles. Not sure if they meant it to be used only for fuel packs?
