I just used this bag over the weekend. It fit my camera and lens (24-70mm) perfectly and I was also able to throw my wallet and extra batteries and cards in there too. You also 2 outside compartments for water bottles. It's was easy to pull out and put away my camera at a moment's notice.

i love this bag. i bought it for a recent trip and couldn't be happier. i had my camera body (nikon d3000) with lens (17-70mm) in one side and my extra lens (35mm) on the other side. i then threw sunglasses, iphone, food, etc on top and everything fit beautifully. the bag allows for more storage than it would first appear.

i love the safety aspects of the bag. knowing that everything was safe and secure is obviously a great bonus. you lock up the zippers and know that no one can get in.

the bag is very comfortable. after walking around all day with all my gear my shoulder barely felt it. usually my shoulder is throbbing after a couple of hours.

I have been through many camera bags, as most photographers have, searching for the "one" that will do it all. I took this on a recent landscape photo outing and packed in my Nikon D-7000, Nikkor 70-300mm lens, 18-105mm lens, 105mm lens, lens filter, tripod, extra battery, wallet and car keys! It was not overstuffed by any means, all items were easily accessible and the bag was very well balanced across my shoulder and chest. Pros:

1. multiple zippered pockets outside: 2 roomy zippered pockets on the front, one of which contains a cell phone pocket and a pager pocket; one small zippered pocket on the side of the bag; one vertical zippered pocket on the back; and one pocket with velcro closure on the back perfect for changing pad.

2. double handles on the top of the bag great for grabbing and go.

3. changing mat and stroller clips included.

4. Bag opens very wide, but still held together with out accidentally losing items.

5. Semi rigid structure: Stands alone but able to be squished with out destroying the bag.

Cons:

1. This exterior material looks very prone to rip.

2. The lime one has dark grey interior, making it possibly hard to find things.

3. Too few interior pockets for organization. It has 2 bottle pockets and one large mesh pocket.

There is way more room than you think, it is very comfortable to wear, and having two hands free is the best part.

Nice small gear bag for carrying things around from car to work to home. I will probably purchase another one to use as a range bag. The only issue i have with it is the location of the D-rings. They should be a bit higher to keep the bag more vertical when loaded. Other than that is seems durable and flexible with all that attachment webbing.

Dakine 33-Litre Interval Wet/Dry Pack

First, I got to note that I was specifically looking for a bag to take outdoors, and that does not have a laptop compartment, or bunch of pen organizers (who uses pens, these days, right?). Turns out that the choice for that type of bag is very limited, all the packs these days are oriented towards laptop-carrying folks. I already have a bag that I use for that, so my goal was to get something that's durable and comfortable, and can be taken to the beach, hike, or a bike ride. Dakine bags are all very well made, and this one is no exception. Stitching is nice, and materials are great. This bag is great all around, I can fit a couple of beach towels, some drinks and snacks, my sunglasses, and some light surf gear and head to the beach. The wetsuit pocket isn't big enough to fit a full-sized wetsuit, but great for bringing back wet booties or board shorts without getting everything else wet. The front cooler pocket holds a lot more than seems at first, and is really handy. Straps are comfortable, and the sternum strap is good for using this when biking particularly to prevent straps from sliding back.

I loved this backpack so much I bought this one only after I had already bought the green one from REI! It is the perfect size for my 7 year old and also perfect as a daypack for an adult. I plan on using this to travel oversees. What I really like about it is that it has a "rucksack" drawstring opening under the clipped hood. You don't have to worry about everything falling out when you open the pack, which is great for my son. Plus it has very handy zippered pockets on top and on the front. We bought one of these for our son when he started preschool a year ago and it is still in good condition. It is a great size, big enough for papers, clothes, etc. but not so big it overwhelms a small child. This backpack is still in great condition and held up so well to abuse from our son that we purchased one for our daughter this year. She is small for her age (3) but can still handle this backpack easily and loves the chest buckle. I love that these packs are equally suitable for school, hiking, an overnight trip or even a short backpacking trip (will hold just the amount a small child can handle). Eagle Creek Travel Gear Pack-It Mud Box

I bought this product to put my Teva Men's Churn Performance Water Shoes in after they're wet, to avoid getting anything else wet and/or muddy as the case may be. The Mud Box works well for this function, and when zipped closed it holds the moisture inside. It is lined with a "tough hydro-tech TPU material" to keep water and mud inside and resist it leaking through, and the top has a "link-seal mesh." Essentially the top is plastic on the inside and netting on the outside. I don't know what purpose the outside netting serves, but regardless the Mud Box keeps water and mud inside of it. The handle on top makes it easy to grab and carry, making it simple for me to carry my shoes without having to hold them separately. For comparison purposes, I have found that the small Mud Box is exactly the right length and width for my size 13 water shoes to be packed comfortably in it. They are not loose and bouncing around and they are not hard to put in. There is about a 1.5-inch depth left with the shoes in it. If you are using this for your clothes or gear then that should give you an idea of the capacity of it. Because the Mud Box is lightweight, it essentially weighs as much as what you put in it as you carry it around. Overall if you need an easy-to-carry container that won't leak for your wet, muddy, or dirty clothes or gear when you're in the field, the Eagle Creek Pack-It Mud Box is a good item to try out. I traveled to a family reunion with an elderly relative. Had packed my mud box to store my shoes in my pack. My relative had an episode of incontinence, and had brought a baggie for underwear, but not for the set of clothes that got wet. Timbuk2 Shotwell Backpack

I am a fan of Timbuk2 bags and had high hopes for this backpack, but it did not work out. First disappointment was the color: I ordered the purple/barley/potrero color and thought I was getting a grey bag with purple and brown panels (that's how it looked to me in the website photo). But the color "potrero" is not described anywhere and Timbuk2 (much like Patagonia before them) likes to name colors with locations with no descriptions (the "alcatraz" color is apparently sky blue). Usually this is fine with an accompanying photo, but in this case "potrero" is an olive-green-brownish color which was not to my liking. My husband, originally from San Francisco, said, "Must be named after the Potrero Hill district." Not so helpful to me as an eastcoaster.

Secondly, the pocket location on this backpack did not distribute weight well for me. It's a tall backpack which I know will work well for others but was not what I was looking for with my 5'8" frame. If you put anything heavier than a smart pohone in the outside pockets (like keys and a pocket knife and other small, but heavy items) it makes the outside pocket bulge outwards over the power brick compartment. I also felt the shoulder straps were too close together and rubbed my neck wrong. I won't comment on the sewn-on bottle opener except to say: make it removable.

But the material was certainly rugged and the contruction/zippers, etc. were durable and excellent as always with Timbuk2. I would only recommend this pack for people who are comfotable with the narrow shoulder straps, who want a tall pack that carries very little (don't put weight in the outside pockets) and who are looking for a backpack in earthy & purple tones.

I loved the look and feel of this bag because its longer and can fit a lot as well as being very light. The thing is I felt my laptop was not safe in the compartment even with a case. It doesn't have a hammock to keep it away from the bottom of the bag and no protection on the bottom is available. If you have a really heavy duty case than maybe it would be ok, but my merely placing it on the ground I could see how you could dent up your laptop. It also doesn't have as many pockets as other bags offer, and my water bottle wouldn't fit in the side pocket. Some of the pockets don't open completely. I love Timbuk2 but this bag is lacking their normal attention to detail I would probably try another bag unless you have the correct protection.

I've been commuting into NYC for many years, and have tried every style of bag available (including custom making my own market bag with a zillion pockets). I was on the hunt for a bag that was easy on my shoulders, had tons of orginization, was stylish, inexpensive (less than $100), and didn't leave me looking like a turtle (I'm a slender to average 5'4"). I can't comment on how this bag is as a laptop bag because I don't own a laptop. And if I had to complain about this bag, I would say that the exterior waterbottle pocket is a bit snug for a liter bottle.

Bonus pointsI got this bag as an open box warehouse deal... For only $30. But I would have paid a little more for itthis bag was exactly what I was looking for and I absolutely love it.

I ride my bike or the train to work every day and was looking for a backpack to carry my gear for the commute. I'm really happy with this one and have used it for almost a year now. Timbuk2 is known for their quality and this backpack fits the bill. It's a little taller and more rectangular than square, which gives it a more stream-lined look. It fits everything I need for one day in it and even works well as an overnight bag. The laptop pocket is not well protected, but I keep my laptop in a protective pouch (purchased separately) and that does the trick. I don't carry my laptop every day, so I actually like not having the extra bulk in there. This thing is perfect if you need to carry around:

An extra jacket, sweater, shirt

Ipod and charger

Some other random stuff

On weekends I'm able to carry around:

I got my backpack back when Timbuk2 was having a sale on it, so I got it for $45. I think for this price, it was a great deal as this backpack has proven to be very versatile. I usually use it for school, and it is actually able to carry a great deal. I can fit my laptop, notebooks, books, 32 oz water bottle, food containers, and a sweater in the main large compartment without it looking bulky at all. It has a bottom compartment for the laptop charger, which I find to be a bit small if you just throw the wires in, but if you actually roll up the charger neatly enough, it is definitely enough space. The two zippers in front of the bag is also very useful and is deep enough for smaller things (such as pads, cell phone, ipod, or wallet). My only real complaint is the water bottle holder. It is impossible for me to squeeze my water bottle in (though it is a 32 oz bottle), and I feel that a simple water bottle will also be a bit too snugged. Thus, I use the pocket to carry my keys and phone instead. It is important to note that this backpack is a little bit longer than a typical backpack, though it is not very noticeable when when I wear it. I've read that other owners have complained about this, but it didn't seem to be a big deal when I bought it. What I really love about this backpack is the internal organizer for pens and pencils as it was very well thought out. I used to carry a pencil box to hold all my stuff, but I no longer need it because of this.

Skip Hop Zoo Pack Little Kid Backpack, Mouse

The size is just right for my two year old. Don't fill it too full or they may topple over! It fits a lot. We took it on a road trip and filled it up with DVDs and CDs and books. It worked perfectly and was cute to boot!

I was searching for a BPA-free, Phthalate-free, PVC-free backpack for my daughter for kindergarten, and was thrilled to find these backpacks!

My five-year-old daughter saw the pink mouse Skip Hop in my Amazon search results, and immediately fell in love with it. I saw the dimensions, and thought it would be best to go with something this size, since she's a small child (36 lbs).

While I do not regret buying this backpack (she LOVES it), I suspect her teacher isn't wild about it shape. ;) Like other reviewers, we have a plastic folder that comes home every day in the backpack, but the only way for it to fit is to fold it (which we don't do. It has artwork inside) or bend the corners (doesn't affect the artwork too badly most days).

If Skip Hop would make these backpacks with more squared-off edges on top, the folders would fit fine! But because the packs are rounded and narrower at the top, there is some necessary bending involved. It's also tough to get the folder in if there's anything else already in there (mini umbrella, raincoat, sweater, whatever). You have to remove everything in the large part, put the folder in, fold the top edges, then add any other stuff in front of the folder. Not easy for my five-year-old to do. Probably not fun for her teacher, either.

But what I love about it (aside from how cute it is): That front pocket! It is a lot roomier than the picture would appear. Right now she's got a full plastic travel wipe container, pack of tissues, and a mini umbrella (no raincoat though, but it would fit rolled up, by itself. Maybe with a mini umbrella, if the jacket were thin).

A minor annoyance: the side mesh pocket for water bottles. It is so shallow that a decent-sized travel bottle will not stay in. We use Contigo Autoseal Kids Cups. They are too tall to fit in this side pocket. The elastic cord does not have a clip on it to tighten (you're supposed to tie it but ours doesn't stay tied well). I had to go buy a clip for it.

You might find it holds a shorter cup, or something else entirely, but ours remains unused. (The water bottle goes in her lunch bag.)

Bottom line: I agree with other reviewers who recommend this for a toddler/preschooler, but not a kindergartener. Or, for a kindergartener to use as an overnight bag.

EDIT: I ended up ordering a junior backpack from a certain well-known retailer in Maine, and am very glad I did. It's far roomier and no more squished folders. My kindergartener was sad to relegate the Mouse backpack to non-school use, but it still works great for holding her things for a short trip.

This is perfect for my 2yr old daughter! It has been really hard to find a backpack that is her size, and this one is just right. We bought this for her to take on a trip to Mexico and is a perfect carry-on for her. It has a nice big pocket for her snacks, a change of clothes etc.. and the front little pocket holds a lot of games and books. I got this as a 2nd birthday gift for my petite daughter. It's perfect. She loads this up with all of her little dolls and critters and it's not to heavy or cumbersome for her to carry around. She feels just like a big girl toting this backpack. The strap design is contoured so it's easy for her to get on, but not so big that I fear she will get it around her neck. What a great design! So far after 2 months of use, even though it's pink it's wearing well without signs of dirt. I wish they also made larger sizes.

Bought this for my ipad 2. While I admit it is a little large for this purpose, what I really like is that I can leave my ipad in the keyboard case and carry it on my shoulder. I bought a smaller bag and it barely fit with the case off so this one will work really well for me.

I also love the bright colors. They are not painted on either-I was kind of worried they would be one of those "rubberized" type of decals and would wear off over time but they are not pressed on-they are part of the fabric.

The pocket in front is handy for pens, a small pad and the like.

The neoprene the case is made of will buffer your equipment a bit but it is not overly padded so if you drop it I am not sure it will protect it well. Since mine is in the keyboard case and inside this one it will be more than adequate for what I want.

Oh, and the shoulder strap has a nice feature in the matching neoprene pad. It makes it so that the strap does not cut into my shoulder. Another thing is that is adjusts on both sides-so smart so you can make sure it is even on both sides and that pad stays on your shoulder. I have seen others that adjust on one size and then the padding is either to the front of back of your shoulder-not this one.

My only wish is that the strap connected with metal hardware instead of plastic but for the price I understand you need to compromise in some way. I would absolutely recommend this case and would buy it again. I am actually thinking of getting another one to have on hand should anything happen to this one.

It does have that "new neoprene" smell to it but I sprayed with a little Febreeze and it is fine now.

My daughter needs to bring a laptop in for her CTY program and she is in kindergarten and 5 years old.

This carrying case is great. It hold the 11" laptop, her mandatory notebook and pen with room to spare. I love that the front zip pocket is big enough to put headphones and mouse and I don't have to worry she will lose the items. Most carrying cases don't have a place to store headphones etc. It is soft so it will probably not prevent damage if dropped but it fits in her small LL Bean book bag with folding down the top no problem and helps to keep the weight of her pack down. I like that is doesn't weigh much as we try to limit the weight of her bag on CTY days as she is a small 5 years old. It is also very colorful and bright and perfect for a little girl to like. She has been using it for 2 months now twice a week and still looks brand new so I would say it holds up pretty well at least so far :)

However what I dislike about it is that it's a little bit too wide and it doesn't have too much space to hold my stuff, I could only fit about 2 small binders, 1 notebook, my wallet and my glasses on the inside. This is a problem because I have so many books to carry around while I'm at school. Also, the straps are way too long for my liking, the backpack doesn't really fit well onto my back due to this and it gets very awkward and uncomfortable. I think this bag would be much better suited for a taller person, I'm only 5'3. I really do like the design, but I'm probably going to have to return it due the the issue of the straps and the limited amount of space.

12/16/12 So I've had this bag for a couple of days and due to the shipping charges I wasn't able to return it. However I did fix the straps by sewing them a little bit tighter so they fit better and I also made the flap at the front of the bag a little bit tighter. I'm really satisfied with it, if only it had arrived that way.

I was really excited about the pack. I was able to fit my 15.6 in laptop (in it's protective sleeve), text book, 3 single subject notebooks, nexus 7 in case, and kindle paper in case. It was really boxy with all that stuffed into it (I just wanted to see if it would). My complaint is the color. The canvas itself was a little darker then I had expected, though still nice. HOWEVER the bottom strip is not a lite blue like I had thought. It is more turcurse then anything else and does not go well with the redish brown leather (or leather like) and navy blue and white striped straps. I'm going to send it back. So close.

Good backpack. My 6 year old really "uses" his school bags. We went through 3 school bags in 1 1/2 years, each one of them falling apart either at the zipper, at the side and smaller pockets, or the design would fade or all apart. This one has held up for more than 6 months without breaking, so I'm giving this a 5 star because it looks great (not just some iron on image), the zippers and pockets are all still intact and holding up.

We got this as a gift for our 1 1/2 year old. It says ages 3 and up, but all the small pieces are sewn on, so I feel comfortable letting her use it under supervision. She loves to put small toys in and take them out again, put it on and follow her big brother (with his school backpack) all around and snuggle the bear. We take this (with some toys in it) in the car and on small trips and it keeps her entertained for a while. It is quite light weight so I would't put books or anything heavy in it, but it has held up fairly well. It is really soft and snuggly as well as being cute. The straps are too big for baby, but she only wears it for a few minutes anyway, and they are adjustable so I think as she grows she will continue to enjoy it. We like it so much we have bought some as gifts for friends who have admired it and they rave about it too.

I ordered this for my granddaughter's upcoming first birthday based on the fact that the description said the manufacturer's recommendation was for age 6 months and up. It arrived today and the first thing I saw was the very prominent tag saying age 3 and up. The bear has bead eyes and it is decorated with small sewn on bows. This is not a safe toy for a one year old toddler. However, it is adorable and very light weight for a small child to use. I will save it till Amelie is a little older.

My granddaughter wanted a back pack that she would be able to take to church with her on Sundays. She is only 18 mos., so I was limited on choices that would be small enough for her and yet cute and practical. When this arrived in the mail, I was extremely pleased. When she opened it at Christmas she was thrilled as was her parents. She uses it all the time and everybody that sees it think it's the cutest bag they have ever seen. It was well worth the money and it is used wherever they go. It is very, very, cute.

I have had my Sherpa just over 2 years now and have used it extensively. It is my daughter's travel bag and my all-purpose diaper bag/toddler bag. It will hold everything under the sun practically. There are so many compartments in and around the bag to keep everything separated and in it's own place. I've used this as a day bag for amusement parks. The changing mat is a lifesaver in those not so clean places. I know when I have it with me I have everything I need and then some (toys, clothes, drinks, food, first aid kits, health/beauty aids. I also use the changing mat holder to sneak in a few mags for me when traveling. Keeps them in good condition. Now that my daughter is a toddler and I don't always need it especially for diapers I'm free to put even more toys and books inside for her and can still use the changing mat to sit ourselves on when we are out in public or if I need to temporarily put padding under her head. The separator in the middle of the bag allows you to store all sorts of things without getting one big mess inside. If I need a lot of space for one item I just move it over and use it as one large compartment. Definitely worth the money spent and foresee it will be used for years to come. Great idea using the bottom section for cold or wet articles with the drainage hole in the bottom.

Overall, I am very happy with the usefulness of this backpack, but I am concerned about the quality of this product.

I have a 20-month old toddler and had to ditch the over-one-shoulder diaper bag in favor of a backpack. This backpack is laid out very well:

-I put her sippy cup in the cold pack on the side and my water bottle on the other side.

-My wallet and cell phone are easily accessible in the outside pocket (with the clip).

-I put her diapers, wipes, cream, sunscreen and extra clothes/shoes in the main pocket, which also has smaller pockets for organization.

-There's another easy-access, zippered pocket at the top of the bag where I put chapstick, lipstick and pens.

-The cooler on the bottom is useful, but not a good place to store food that can be crushed because it takes the weight of the entire bag. When I use it, I put food in plastic containers with lids and then throw in a small ice pack to keep everything cool. It's still a handy space, especially if something spills because the mess is contained.

I am giving the Short Haul Sherpa Diaper Backpack 3 out of 5 stars for three reasons:

-The fabric on my backpack tore after only a few weeks' use. The tear is on the top/front of the bag and one inch long. It's not on a seam and does not compromise the integrity of the bag, but it looks bad and it does make me wonder about whether it will last through more than one kid.

-The mesh pockets on the upper sides of the bag are utterly useless. They're too small and not tight enough to hold anything. Toys, keys, and even baby sunglasses don't stay in them.

-The bag arrived with a broken key ring (it's on the inside). It won't clasp. It's not a huge deal, which is why I didn't bother returning it for a new one, but I thought it was important to note.

I would say, if you can find another backpack that fits your needs and is high quality, go with that one. My SkipHop over-the-shoulder bag was much sturdier but this Short Haul fits my current needs.

I got this when I had my son 8 months ago. I was initially extremely pleased. Then the plastic end piece on the strap to close the front pocket flaked apart. The backpack still worked, I just had to adjust it regularly, but my happiness level decreased somewhat. The other day the clasp that attached the strap flaked apart as well, rendering the backpack useless. I am unsure whether the problems I experienced were exclusive to my item, or if there was an entire lot with weak plastic parts. Either way, I will be replacing it with something else that I hope will last more than 8 months.

We bought the Sherpa Short Haul backpack when my daughter was born in 2006. Fast forward to 2012 and this bag is still running strong! Still looks great, no tears or flaking. Kids are now 6 and 5 and this is perfect for a day trip to the zoo. Keeps the cool snacks cool and room for other items without issue. Could use larger cup holders on the side as their cup holders are now larger, looks like I'll upgrade to the 5.11 H20 Carriers for that. I strongly recommend this bag, especially for new dads. You will not be disappointed.

I researched diaper bags for a long time before my son was born. My parents gave us this backpack diaper bag that I had chosen. At first my husband and I loved it. I cloth diaper, and this bag is large enough to hold the diapers as well as other essentials. Quickly, however, I was disappointed. First the mesh on the front ripped. I continued to use the bag. Then the shoulder strap broke when we had only had the bag a few months. When I contacted the company their suggestion was for me to take it to a tailor to have it fixed they did not offer to stand behind their product at all. Later when I looked into having the bag fixed I realized that when the strap broke part of it was lost and now it cannot be fixed sufficiently. I could still use the bag, but the waist strap cannot be used. What a waste of money!

Asolo Village Sling 7-Liter Daypack

My husband and I are always looking for better bags for geocaching. We've gone thru several. I've even used small lunchboxes. I like how it is small and very comfortable. I can even stick my gps in the pocket in the front when I don't have my gps on. When it is in use I can hook it to one of the many hooks on the front.

Only thing I don't like is how easy someone behind me can access my bag too. Wish there was a way to lock it in the closed position with small locks or something.

I'm very glad I found this bag because it's ideal for my needs . It holds 3 20oz sport drink bottles side by side perfectly in the main compartment with enough space above them for an extra t-shirt or a hand towel, the pouch on the strap holds my phone and keys, and I use the outer compartment for concealed carry (Kel-tec PF9. I don't think a full-size will fit, but I haven't tried.). There are also 2 smaller compartments within the larger one. One has a zipper, and the other has a velcro strap to close it. However, I only use the zipper (for all the other crap I normally keep in my pockets) one because they are arranged one on top of the other, which limits their use when the main compartment is full. I can't comment on durability since I've only had the bag for 3 days, but it seems well-made and strong enough for its size.

I got this bag to use as a sling purse. I wanted something that would hold my stuff plus my son's glucometer and other diabetic supplies. It is perfect. Not too big, not too small. I have the following in it if anyone wants to be able to picture what it will hold. (of course, you have to know what some of this stuff is to picture it)

Billfold, chapstick, small box of mints, pack of gum, eye drops (4 oz.), glucometer test kit, M&M minis tube, remote for son's insulin pump, three insets (site changes for pump), various alcohol wipes, IV3000, etc., granola bar, keys. I *think* that is everything. It also holds my cell phone and iPod touch in the front pouch meant for a cell phone. Great little bag!

I love how it unclips so I don't have to put the strap over my head to get it on or off, and how I can slide it around to the front to get into it without taking it off. I've finally found the perfect purse!

Although it doesn't make a good alternative for a backpack or messenger bag, this sling is lightweight, durable, and waterproof. I'm a student, and I'm able to hold all the things I need on a day to day basis, such as my clutch-sized wallet, Droid X, iPod, and a small notebook (all decently sized items). I've even managed to fit my WD desktop-size external hard drive in the bag at one point. As a last note, I'd say that the cell phone pocket is more of a keys pocket--most phones won't be able to fit in a pocket that size. The only downside, I'd say, is I try to put more stuff in there than I can manage because I want to take it everywhere with me. :) A great alternative for people who need something purse-sized but hate the strap always falling down. Definitely 5 stars.
